Anyway to download the software update separately?

I'm using a school connection to connect to the internet and it seems to block iTunes (software update works though). Now I want to update my iPod software but can't do it through iTunes (can't connect to the server) so is there any way I can download the software update separately and install it that way?

There is no standalone iPod updater.
Nowadays, it's all contained in iTunes.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Did you do this download on the phone, or in iTunes? If on the phone, after the download did you select install? Same with iTunes, did you select update and install or just download? What did it do? Is anything showing on your phone?

You can try restarting the phone then try to install it again.

THIS IS THE STUPIDEST WAY TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED..
Firefox informs me to upgrade software... So I select the button to do so and see
