Apache FOP configuration with Oracle XE

Hi,
I have installed Oracle XE on my laptop and upgraded Apex to 3.2. I am now trying to install Apache FOP for PDF printing. I am following Section 5 of the following document:

Since it is a standalone installation, I followed the directions given here :

I installed JDK version 6 and also downloaded the OC4J zip file and did as specified.
Now here is my problem: The next step is this :
Step 1: Installing the WAR file
Place the fop.war file (located in apex_install_directory/utlities/fop) in an accessible location on your local machine. You then follow the directions below or can view the process by running this viewlet.
+1. Navigate to your OC4J Oracle Enterprise Manager Console eg: http://localhost:8888/em/+
+2. Select the Applications Tab+
+3. Select Deploy Button+
+4. On the "Deploy: Select Archive" page use the option "Archive is present on local host. Upload the archive to the server where Application Server Control is running." Use the file browse to select the fop.war file and click "Next" button+
+5. On the "Deploy: Application Attributes" page set the "Application Name" option to "fop" and clear the "Context Root " option and click "Next" Button+
+6. On the Deploy: Deployment Settings click the "Deploy" button+
The problem is, since mine is an XE installation on my laptop, I do not have Oracle Enterprise Manager Console. In this case, how can I deploy the WAR file ?
Any ideas ?

I have the same problem. have installed 10g xe and upgrated to apex 3.2 on my laptop.
I dont have the EM to deploy the WAR file.
Anyway you could share how exactly you deployed the file and made pdf working?

Configuring Apache HTTP Server with Oracle Weblogic Server plugin

Hello friends,
I have a scenario of OIM 9.1.0.2 on Oracle Application Server 11g and Weblogic Server Apache HTTP Server.
Oracle WebLogic Server is configured in cluster (node1 and node2), also use the Oracle Weblogic Server plugin for integration with Apache.
One of the tests is to lose one of the nodes for the apache plugin redirects the node that has less overhead.
When the mode is node1 and node2 stop start mode and try to access the management console of Oracle Identity Manager, the plugin sometimes redirects to the other active node, and on another occasion shows the oracle management console identity manager without the colors of the basic look and feel.
Deputy of the Apache HTTP Server log, do you expect your comments to solve this case?

Note that the plug-in does a round robin load balancing, for example, in the case of three server (1,2,3) it does 1-2-3-1-2-3-1...
with server 3 going down it does 1-2-1-2-1...

This is somewhat strange, do you have session binding turned off?

But, where should I put fop.xconf file in Linux (Ubuntu) with font information?

Solved. You should add following:

before the line

Of course, fop.xconf should point Apache FOP to the right fonts path :)

Apache FOP Problem with column width

We are using Apache FOP to generate simple pdf documents out of reports.
My problem is that the table in the pdf is as standard filled in with columns of same length.
Further on the content of some table fields is to large or sometimes there is to much room.
is there any possiblity to let fop react like html?
The smallest table field size should be like the content. I don't want to adjust all my reports, cause there are really many reports with pdf printing.
anyone an idea how to solve this with FOP?
i have no BI pubisher or other reporting engines for this problem

I think what you're looking for is having your column width automatically adjusted based on the content of your column values. That is not possible with the built-in, generic XSL-FO template. What you can do is manually adjusting the column width to appropriate values on the print attributes page.

Apache FOP Compatible with BI Publisher XSL Layout?

I've tried a very basic XSL layout in Apache FOP and BI Publisher and I'm able to get the same PDF result in both FOP and BIP. As I create more complex layouts, I'm wondering if the layouts that I create in one or the other (FOP vs. BIP) can be moved to the other platform; are there any XSL features/constructs I should avoid that don't transfer over well? Any comments?
I'd like to be able to use them interchangeably but I want to know what I'm getting myself into before I do that...if I run into issues, can this forum help me work through those issues?

My question is what is the best disk array configuration for redo logs and flash recovery area? RAID 10 or RAID 1? Is that possible we can duplicate Flash recovery area to the other location (such as net work drive) at the same time? Since we only have single disk array controller to connect to the disk arrays, I am try to avoid the single failure that will lose archive logs and daily backup.

Security vulnerabilities in apache that comes with oracle database.

Hi,
We are having a QA database in Oracle enterprise version 9.2.0.4 on OS : OSF1.
Recently our security team ran a test and found that the apache1.3 that comes as component of Oracle database is prone to security vulnerabilities. Also they suggested to remove the apache or upgrade to latest as remedy.
When contacted to Oracle support, Oracle team replied apache upgrade should not be done instead latest apache seprately can be installed as reverse proxy. But when asked for steps/document there is no reply. Anyone faced this problem can provide any help/suggestion in this regard.
I am attaching some of the threads identified by our Security Team for reference.

I dont know how to find which components are using the apache. Help me if there is any way to find it. Only information i can say you is there is no other software installed that in that server other than oracle Database.

Why does Hyperion uses external database such as Oracle, SQL Server, DB2 etc..as repository?

The JNDI name for the DataSource can be whatever yoou want it to be. It will be the name by which you ask Weblogic for this DataSource.
After these two steps where do i hva to specifymy pool name ie(any descriptor file)..
--Note really sure what you're asking. In setting up the DataSource you had to specify the name of the ConnectionPool to use for this DataSource. In your code, you should refer to this DataSource, not the ConnectionPool. If you mean where to specify the DataSource name (as in when deploying EJB), then you need to do this in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml descriptor file. This entry should map a resource defined in the ejb-jar.xml file to an actual resource on the Weblogic server. Check out the Weblogic documentation on the descriptor files needed to deploy an EJB.

Issue with Oracle Distributed Document Capture in table update

Hi All,
I installed ODDC and configured with Oracle 11gr2 for document commit.
I have table with 4 fields i.e id,c_number,content,mime_type. I am storing the image in content which blob datatype.
when i import and send document from WebCapture screen i am getting document send successfully. But the data is no commiting in database table.
The pak file are genereated in "/Document Capture/Webpages/ClientAcces".
how i have to commit this files to database?.
am I missing something in configuration?. Please suggest.

It's likely that Oracle Distributed Document Capture Service (ecNetService) haven't been started as it is responsible for the pak file processing and it doesn't start automatically after install.

Rightfax Integration with Oracle forms

We have Rightfax 9.3 integrated with our application running on Oracle forms 6i.
We are plaaning to upgrade to Oracle forms 10g.
We need to understand that if RightFax 9.3 can be configured with Oracle Forms 10g
Also, is the invocation for RightFax dependent only on Oracle Forms and not dependent on the Windows Operating system installed on the server?

I would like to set up a configuration with Oracle Access Manager 11g r2 where Authentication is against Active Directory, and Authorisation is against Oracle internet Directory
Access Manager has to get authorizations from Oracle internet Directory via Oracle Entitlement Server
I cant find any document describing how to integrate Oracle Access Manager with Oracle Entitlement Server

The "application" distribution tab allows me to distribute the policy created but does not generate any distribution ID or address for webservice access.
