You want to connect yourself, which Java is quite capable of doing, rather than go through some 3rd party client program that's not only specific to a particular operating system but not guaranteed to be installed at any particular machine or if it is to be installed in such a way that you can start it from your Java program.
And then there's the little matter of figuring out the external API to use that program in the way you intent to (if it has one). -

I’m working on WC Spaces Customization library “com.acme.custom.webcenter.spaces.war”. From time to time, when I deploy the library to WC Server, it errors out.
weblogic.management.DeploymentException: Cannot undeploy library Extension-Name: com.acme.custom.webcenter.spaces, Specification-Version: 11.1.1, Implementation-Version: 11.1.1.2.113 from server WC_Spaces, because the following deployed applications reference it: webcenter-rest.war, spaces.war, sharepoint-servlet.war, webcenter-rss.war
If I try to login the Spaces, I get “Java code in jsp source files is not allowed in ojsp.next mode.” Should I stop the Spaces server before the deployment? In this case, other people won’t have accesses to Spaces? The deployment error doesn’t happen all the time.

Edited by: 891549 on Mar 29, 2012 12:01 PMI don't think that this error is based on ojsp.next mode. The first error I see is that the application can't be undeployed. After that you get the 'ava code in jsp source files is not allowed in ojsp.next mode.' error. As you said this only happens sometimes which also point to an other problem and not to the jsp error.
Have you ask this on the {forum:id=354} forum?
For me it's more a deployment/redeployment question.

JVM 1.4 seg faults with pure java code?
Has anybody else seen JVM 1.4 seg fault when running pure java code? This seems like it shouldn't be possible, but I get the following at indeterminate times. Unfortunately, it is difficult to isolate since decreasing the size of the program avoids the problem. When the seg fault happens, the size in memory is ~1GB and there is plenty of real and virtual memory to spare.

I've got exactly the same problem on the same function and VM library.

I get the same error sometimes with tomcat-4.0.4 on a
Slackware 8.0.0 and JDK 1.4.0. I don't user any JSPs,
only servlets and the business calls a remote SLSB on
a remote JBOSS server and afterwards select some data
form a remote DB2 7.1 over JDBC.

I've tried also with jdk1.5.0_06, but the same error occurred.

Test.jsp not able to display the output from the java code.
when i try to invoke http://localhost/papz/test.jsp
I dont see anything. The page is blank. And there are no error messages in any log files. When i click on view source in IE i get to see the entire source code, including the jave code.

Java code to create a new .txt file in FTP server --- Help
Hi,
I wrote a standalone java app which creates a .txt file in my local machine and transfers it to FTP server. But my requirement now is to create a new .txt file with the same content in FTP server itself instead of creating locally with basic java code.
I'm aware of transfering file from local machine to the FTP server using STOR command of FTP. But i never tried creating a new file & writing content into that in FTP server.
So, if any one did this before please help me out with source code or any idea ???

There's a method where you can write data to a file on the server using an OutputStream, right? Well, instead of writing to a FileOutputStream, write to that OutputStream instead. Remember to close the OutputStream and call the method which says you're finished with the command (I forget what it's called). -
Archiving File on Shared Folder in Linux using java code

I have a requirement wherein I have to ftp a file (Feed.txt) from windows FTP server to Linux machine1 and archive the same file (with timestamp suffixed on file name like Feed.txt_22April) on Linux Machine2. I am
trying to achieve this through java code. I am able to ftp the file(Feed.txt) from windows ftp server to Linux machine1 /opt/ftproot directory and archiving the same file under /opt/ftproot/archive directory of Linux
Machine1 with timestamp suffixed on file name.
My archiving requirement is still not achieved. So, for that I created a shared folder /temp/shared on Linux Machine2 and mounted the /temp/shared folder of Linux Machine2 on /opt/ftproot/archive folder of
Linux Machine1 using following command:
# mount LinuxMachine2: /temp/shared /opt/ftproot/archive
Note: I have given full permission on both the folders.
Logically, archiving the Feed.txt with timestamp in it name under /opt/ftproot/archive folder should create the file in /temp/shared folder of Linux Machine2. But instead of archiving the file on
/opt/ftproot/archive folder, it archive the file on /opt/ftproot folder.
In my java code, I have specified copyDir as /opt/ftproot and archiveDir as /opt/ftproot/archive.
The code is being run from Linux Machine1 as a schedule task.

- Get a flexible ftp client, there are many but make sure it shows you the ftp result codes.
- Figure out how and if the ftp server will do what you want.
If it does do what you want then ftp client will let you do the same thing.
If that ftp server doesn't allow you to do it then you must do one of the following
- Find a different server
- Change the requirements

It is possible that my Java code is using a different parser, but I developed a seperate program to parse the XML using the same parser that my Java code is using. It output the result I expected. Here is the code for the program:

Convert .txt file to .pdf using java code
Hi,
My requirement is to read the .txt file and convert it into .pdf file after changing certain text.
Searched the net got a document on iText ..is it the only way for conversion or any other method....please help.

The other option could be [PDFBox|http://pdfbox.apache.org/].

Another option, but more complicated is [Apache FOP|http://xmlgraphics.apache.org/fop/].

Problem when connecting locally to Oracle Database 10g from Java code
Good afternoon,
I try to connect to my local Oracle 10g from JAVA code. Could somebody tells me what are the 'values' to enter in place of 'value1, value2, value3' in the following:

I tried to put my 'user' and 'pw' credentials I used when connecting with SQL*PLUS:
value1=my_user_name
value2=my_pw
value3=my_schema
but it doest work. Besides where could have I to put the 'WORKSPACE" name?

What you're asking about is the exact reason, but that could be any number of things and not at all related to code. You could have the wrong host, the wrong port. A firewall could be blocking the outgoing connection, a firewall could be blocking the incoming connection. Etc. etc.
