APD: query to CSV flat file , sign indicator after value
Hi Guys,
I have created one APD process in BI 7, which will execute query and will send out put to CSV file in application server . When i am executing query through BEX i am getting sign indicator before value but in APD after excution sign indicator is coming after value . for example in BEX i am getting value -24 but in APD i am getting value 24-.
I wrote ABAP code also but SAP programme is converting again sign indicator after value.
Can any one throughw some light.
Thanks in advance
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
yes, APD does work with internal representations of ABAP only. It expects values in that format on the input (file data source), and creates the corresponding format on the output (file data target). The makes it possible to simply apply the MOVE logic of ABAP.
This format is bad when using the file in other tools like excel. I do understand that you would like to specify the output format, but it is not yet possible, sorry.
Cheers,
Thomas

Extract data from Query to a Flat File - scheduling in the background
Hi All,
We need to extract data from a query to a flat file periodically, but each time 10 separate executions based on 10 profit centers, to get the separate files.
So, we have PC1, PC2, ... PC10 Profit centeres.
We have Query1, with profit center variable.
We have created 10 variants for Query1 so that we can execute for 10 profit centers.
Now, we have used RSCRM_BAPI to execute the Query1 and write to a flat file. Now we are having a problem in getting this feature used to execute the query automatically for 10 different varaints.
Thanks in advance,
_ ShashiShashi,
You can try using Information Broadcasting or Reporting Agent. You can schedule this in Information Broadcasting.

Strange behavior with csv flat file integration
Hi,
i've a real strange behavior with csv flat file integration.
I've defined the file inbound with | as separator
Here is the sender payload result, extra columns appears !
<row>
<VAL1>D</VAL1>
<VAL2 />
<VAL3>01</VAL3>
<VAL4 />
<VAL5 />
<VAL6>003160000</VAL6>
<VAL7 />
<col>003160001</col>
<col />
<col>2</col>
<col />
<col>91200604212</col>
<col />
<col>VIRTUAL DJ HOME EDITION</col>
<col />
<col>2</col>
<col />
<col>2</col>
<col />
<col />
<col>2</col>
<col />
</row>
When i changed the separator to ; in my file and in the file inbound it gives the following.
Everything is ok.
<row>
<VAL1>D</VAL1>
<VAL2>01</VAL2>
<VAL3 />
<VAL4>003160000</VAL4>
<VAL5>003160001</VAL5>
<VAL6>7</VAL6>
<VAL7>91200604212</VAL7>
<col>VIRTUAL DJ HOME EDITION</col>
<col>10</col>
<col>10</col>
<col />
<col>10</col>
</row>
Why using a different separator would change the payload ?
It will be a good thing for me if I could use the pipe separator.
ThanksCan you give the steps you're using to get this error? I'm not seeing any problem here.
1) Create a new audio project (44.1 KHz).
2) Arm the record head in track 1 by pressing the "R" button in that track. Verify audio levels.
3) Record by pressing the record button in the audio controls.
4) Stop recording by pressing the stop button.
5) Play back the resulting audio. Sounds fine.
6) Select File > Export.
7) Change the file format to WAVE file. Change the bit depth to 16 bit, change the sample rate to 44.1 KHz.
8) Type the name SAVETEST.wav and click on the Export button.
9) Play back the resulting WAV file in QuickTime Player, Apple Loops Utility, etc. and it seems just fine.
What am I missing that you're doing? -
Trying to generate csv flat files from GoldenGate
Hi,
I am new to GoldenGate and I am trying to evaluate GG, I am trying to use GoldenGate for Flat Files.
I was able to generate a trail file from a 1 row table, on the same DB but different installation ggs_src
and I placed this file on the target GG ggs_trg dirdat folder manually "cp /oracle/u04/ggs_src/dirdat/bb000000 /oracle/u04/ggs_trg/dirdat".
However when I start my FF extract I do not see any FF files under dirout (default output location)..
Here is what I did:
EXTRACT SRCONV
SOURCEDEFS ./dirdef/t1pg.def
CUSEREXIT ./flatfilewriter.so CUSEREXIT PASSTHRU includeupdatebefores, params "./ffwriter.properties"
TABLE T1.*;
ggsci> ADD EXTRACT srconv, EXTTRAILSOURCE ./dirdat/bb
ggsci> start srconv
and here is the SRCONV.rpt

Any idea why?
Thanks in Advance
AlaaHi Mike
Thanks for your input..
We are in an early evaluation phase, where we want to move data from Oracle to a local ETL/Application system..
I downloaded the latest Oracle GG Adapter 11.2.1.x and re-did everything.
However, its the same result..
Any idea??
Thanks in Advance..

Error while loading CSV Flat file
Hi,
I am getting the following errors while loading a flat file into the DataSource:
1. Error 'Unit CS is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 1, value CS)
2. Error 'The argument '9,018.00' cannot be interpreted as anumber' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSA record 1 value 9,018.00
What can I do to correct this?
ThanksI am taking the following (Headers) fields in this order in a CSV file :
0LOGSYS ,0MATERIAL,0UNIT,0BASE_UOM,0COMP_CODE,0PLANT,0FISCPER,0FISCVARNT,
0CURRENCY,0PRICE_TYPE,ZTVSAKF,ZVOTVSKF,0PRICE_CTRL,ZPRICE_STKF,0PRICE_BASE,
0VAL_CLASS,0CURTYPE,0VALUATION
I have added all these fields in the DataSource as well. T-Code CUNIT has CS as a Unit.
I deleted and recreated the DataSource and am getting this error now:
Error 'Unit CS is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 1, value CS)
Error 'The argument '1,398.00' cannot be interpreted asa number' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSAKF record 1 value 1,398.00
Error 'The argument '8,10.00' cannot be interpreted as anumber' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSKF record 1 value 8,10.00
Error 'Unit 0 is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field BASE_UOM record 1, value )
Error 'Unit CS is not created in language EN...' at conversion exit CONVERSION_EXIT_CUNIT_INPUT (field UNIT record 1, value CS)
Error 'The argument '5,50.00' cannot be interpreted as anumber' on assignment field /BIC/ZTVSAKF record 1 value 5,50.00
Does it matter what order the columns are in? -
.csv flat file loading data issue

Purpose: Load source data which are stored in a csv file to the destination table
Problem: After setting up flat file transformation, including the columns in the output alias, see the following picture:

Flat file assembler. Hexadecimal value XYZ, is an invalid character
Hi,
I'm trying to send file that contains base64-encoded string. With simple xml FTP sending - all works fine. But with flat file pipeline comes this error:
A message sent to adapter "FTP" on send port "....FlatFile" with URI "ftp://..../.../%SourceFileName%" is suspended.
Error details: There was a failure executing the send pipeline: "...., ....Pipelines, Version=1.0.0.1, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=.."
Source: "Flat file assembler"
Send Port: "MyFlatFile" URI: "ftp://.../.../%SourceFileName%" Reason: '', hexadecimal value 0x03, is an invalid character. Line 1, position 100.

Is it impossible to do such operation on Biztalk?
Thank you!Try to set the appropriate value to the "Target charset" property in the Flat file assembler component. This would solve your issue.

Hi Friends,
What are Flat files is getting generated at POS.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Vijai JainIt sounds like you're not a technical person, and this is understandable. I don't understand why so many software developers don't realize this.
Anyway, try ChikPOS if you want what is nowadays called "decision oriented reports". It means, it doesn't give you a whole heap of useless data. It "data mines" the important stuff for ya!
I've had NO problems with it whatsoever. It's a Jeremy Shum Invent so its a quality Aussie product too - helping the economy. The features are also endless... multi-language support, managerial decision making reports, not locked to hardware, fully multi-touch (like iphone), external monitor support, xbrl compliant, auto-generation of online store, can advertise "related products", corporate chat support, show time/date/news on external screen... it's just top stuff. AND it's Windows 7 compatible! -
Merging of flat files based on some value in the file.
Hi all,
I have one requirment in which I need to pick some flat files(Let say N number of files).
Third row in each file, needs to be read and all files having same value in 3rd row needs to be merged in single file.
There should be as many output files as many different values at row 3rd in all files.
All the files having unique 3rd row value, will be having sequence number in 4th row. While merging we need to take care of the sequence number and need to be merged based on sequence number.
All the files need to be placed at some FTP location
Thanks
Jaithanks for ur response Raj.
My input files don't have any fixed length or structure.. So It is not possible to write FCC.
Can you please explain your point in detais
My approach is to store the files at some intermediate location and go with two interfaces.
If you have any other idea please let me know.
Thanks

Export query results to flat file with dynamic filename
Hi
Can anybody can point me how to dynamic export query serults set to for example txt file using process flows in OWB.
Let say I have simple select query
select * from table1 where daterange >= sysdate -1 and daterange < sysdate
so query results will be different every day because daterange will be different. Also I would like to name txt file dynamicly as well
eg. results_20090601.txt, results_20090602.txt, results_20090603.txt
I cant see any activity in process editor to enter custom sql statment, like it is in MSSQL 2000 or 2005
thanks in advanceYou can call existing procedures from a process flow the procedure can create the filename with whatever name you desire. OWB maps with file as target can also create a file with a dynamic name defined by an expression (see here ).
Cheers

Excel auto formats cell in CSV flat file.
Hi,
I am using an etext template to generate a CSV file (comma separated) and that piece works fine. But as soon as you open the generated file in Excel, it changes the format of one of the columns to a date! And once you have opened it in Excel, saving it changes the column value, so now I have wrong data!
The field value is : 8050-09-7 (Alpha)
When opened in Excel, it becomes: 9/7/8050 (Excel auto formats it)
If I save the file as a .xls file and not a .csv file, it works, but now when I open it, the entire row shows up in one line in Excel and each field is not in each cell.
The user wants to see the output first, verify the data and save it as a CSV file and export it to a vendor software.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
ShafHi Steven,
I think I understand what you are trying to say.
My data is getting generated initially as XML; I merge it with my eText template to get the final output. If I save the output as .txt, its fine. But users have a hard time reading comma delimited lines, though it will work fine for the customers.

Query Output to download in flat file through APD or other means?
Hello Experts,
I am currently on BW3.5 system and have requirement to load query output in flat file in .csv format. I checked the option of APD but looks like we cant directly load the query output in flat file like in APD (BW 3.5 system) .
One way i can think of it...load the query output in transactional ODS and built an infospoke on it to write into flat file.
Please advice if there are any better methods to store the query output in flat files.
Thanks!Hi,

Re-arrange the flat file out put in APD
Hi Guys,
I am loading data in APD,soruce is Query and target is Flat file.i want to re-arrange the out put file.
Let me know what are the possible ways to re-arrange the columns in the out put flat file.
Regards,
JayapalThere are three ways to do this:
1. Use Hide or Rename Columns (Projections) under Transformations in between the query and the flat file (recommended method)
Under the field selection tab..transfer the fields to the right pane in the order you wish to view thwm in.
2.Drag and drop a routine
Go to source fields tab
Move the entries in the right to the bottom left 'Source Fields' pane.
Then go to the Target field tab.
Right Click on the row and click unfreeze columns
Now you can drag & Drap and re-arrange the fields.
Insert the routine in between query and Flat file
3. Change the order of the fields in the Query Definition( Not Recommended)

Unattended Daily Exporting of Query to Flat File
I am VERY new to Oracle and SQL Plus. I've been tasked with automating a query to run unattended daily to export data and store it in a flat file with structured naming convention (CC_MMDDYY.exp). I need to have it be able to an "on demand" query to flat file too. Any help would be appreciated.
search asktom.oracle.com (temporary unavailable right now) for keyword flat file to obtain a procedure to write the result of a given query to a flat file and that's it. You can then schedule it's execution using DBMS_SCHEDULER or execute it on demand.

Flat-File MA accented character conversion
Hello, we are using FIM 2010 R2 SP1 (4.1.3599) with a flat file MA to import/sync a csv flat-file generated by a HR system. We are using UTF-8 code page. The HR system has many international people in it, so there are many accented or diacritic characters.
We need to convert those to regular English non-accented equivalents. I know we could write sync rule or rules extension code to do this. However, there is an option on the select attributes properties page, under advanced a checkbox that says "Replace
accented characters with non-accented variants", which looked like an easy way to fix this issue. However, enabling that option does not seem to change anything during the import/sync process. Has anyone had any success
using that option, and is there anything we are missing?We tried multiple code pages in the HR ma, including multiple Latin variations (don't see anything specifically called ISO-8859-1). However, none of them showed the various characters correctly except for UTF-8. We were getting a lot of bad
conversion characters (like tm and copywright) using the other code pages. The names are very global with multiple character sets involved (Middle Eastern, Asian and European).
