I've been trying to get 100k images into my A3 library as simple reference files. I've chosen file>import>folders as projects as my path and selected "at current location" in the store files dialogue. As a test I used a folder with 12gb of images to see how this would go. It has ballooned out to over 40gb in the library. Crazy...and unusable.
Ideally I want to simply drag in all my files as reference files (in Aperture 2 I did this and held down the apple/option keys and voila, the loaded up just fine). I don't want to carry around my entire disk of originals...just the references in a smaller hd and go on with my work.

Some thoughts:
-- Did you miss type during import? Look inside the Aperture Library Package and see how large the Masters folder is; you may have duplicated your files.
-- How big are your masters and how big are your previews? Aperture defaults to a very high quality preview which can actually be larger than a source JPEG. I have my previews set to one size smaller than my monitor and quality 5. This is more than enough for me and results, with mostly RAW masters, in a 1/4 - 3/4 ratio of previews to masters. Remember, even if you reset the preview size smaller, you will actually have to purge the old ones to get the space back. Check the manual for instructions on how to do this. Rob Boyer has written extensively on preview strategies.
Finally, should you purge/rebuild your previews, consider a defrag after you finish. This can really speed up scrolling operations, etc.

Within Mail Preferences, the Default RSS Reader is set up to use Safari. However, Mail always links to Firefox. Why is this and how do I change it?

Why does blast internet cost more than the tv/internet

This is absolutely ridiculous. I am paying twice as much for twice as less. I don't have other choices of ISPs in my areas otherwise I'd leave immediately. I have had constant disconnections with Xfinity several service calls and no resolution. This is one of the worst ISPs I have ever had to deal with and they have the balls to charge a ridiculous price where as in other parts of the world they pay 15$ for 10x the speed I have.

I have never received a private message from you. Today is 8/11/15 and I am still having connectivity issues. Three technicians were sent to my home none resolved the issues. You people have failed the Comcast Guarantee and I have not received the 40$ that's part of that guarantee. I visited the service center near me because I have not received any help from any of your communication methods. When I went there I was rudely greeted by Gina who told me the service center only provides modems and refused to talk to me. The situation was so surreal the manager had to stop helping his customer to assist me and make an appointment with a 4th technician. I have also been promised callbacks from supervisors and never received them. Throughout this time you people have lied to me constantly and made it extremely inconvenient and time consuming to even attempt to resolve my issue. I have never been treated so horribly as a customer in my entire life. I even filed a report with the FCC but your Executive Relations person Christina M. had the ticket closed even though I still am having connectivity issues. What happens when an iPod is synchronized with an iTunes library that is bigger than the available space on the iPod? I did this some time ago. On screen was shown available space somewhat less than 120 GB, but maybe somewhere between 10 and 20 GB more in the library. I had to get the iPod updated anyway, so I did proceed. However, afterwards the total content of the library was only about 110 GB. Now I wonder what did actually happen. Was the first sign only corrected for double copies of the same files or lost files or where files deleted from iTunes? And if files where deleted from iTunes, were they also deleted from my computer?

Same as you would if you bought a pc; copy everything from your old computer to your new one. Then you can just sync everything from the new computer, as you did with the old one.

Why are my processed images now sharper in the Library mode than in Develop mode (LR5)?

In LR 5. Recently I noticed my processed images are sharper in the Library mode than in the Develop mode. This makes doing adjustments difficult because I can't really tell the effect of the adjustments.

I've tried purging the Camera Raw cache. It's been suggested to purge the Preview cache but I cannot find the Preview cache file. It's also been suggested to clear the Preferences but those file don't show up in a search either even though my PC search is set up to show hidden files and folders.
Any solutions?

Images can be different between the camera-rendered preview you see before Import and the default Adobe rendering, but after import the thumbnail in the LR grid view shouldn’t be a different tone than the image in the main area. Is that what you’re saying you’re seeing?
Can you show us a screenshot with both the thumbnail filmstrip and the central area visible as well as the histogram?

Yes, I am signed in to iTunes match on the macbook pro, iPhone , & iPad (all updated & correct music libraries) where I bought all the tunes but still no updated tunes on the iPhoto music library after 3 days of being on iTunes match.

go to "preferences" in Lotus Notes and enable "disable embodded browser for MIME mail" and it shoudn't open the browser anymore

Index size (row_nums) is bigger than the tables row

Hi everyone,
I'm encountering some strange problems with the CBO in Oracle 10.2.0.3 - it's telling me that I have more rows in the indexes than there are rows in the tables.
I've tried all combinations of dbms_stats and analyse and cannot understand how the CBO comes up with such numbers. I've even done a "delete statistics" and
Re-analysed the table and indexes but it doesn't help.
The command I used is variations of the following:

I've even used estimate_percent of 50 and still getting lower numbers for the table.
Initially I was afraid that since the index is larger than the table, the index would never be used. So the question is, does it really matter that the indexes' num_rows is bigger than the tables' num_rows? What is the consequence of this? And how do I get the optimizer to correct the differences in the stats. The table is 30G in size and growing, so a COMPUTE is out of the question.

Is your issue that you are having problems with the execution plans of queries referencing these objects? Or is your problem that you are observing more num_rows in the index than in the table when you query the data dictionary?
If it's the latter then there's really no concern (unless the estimates are insanely inconsistent). The statistics are estimates and as such, will not be 100% accurate, though they should do a reasonable job of representing the data in your system (when they don't, then you have an issue, but we've seen nothing to indicate that as of yet).

Why does Bridge always lose track of the Favorites folders I put into it?

I haven't used Bridge in a while because of this problem.
When you click on one of your Favorites folders in the panel on the far
left side, the folder comes up with a question mark and it can't find anything!
Why does this happen?
Even though the original location of the files or folders was never moved or renamed.. Bridge loses track of the folders I put into it?
How do I keep it from doing that?

I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) may NOT help. Try it anyway, though.

Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.

Field of view: in the programme bigger than on the camera display

The following problem occured:
When I captured footage into Adobe Premiere Elements I recognized that the field of view in the programme was bigger than the one I saw on the display of my camera. I mean, there were objects in the left and in the right corner of the frame, which I did not intend to shoot (and which I did not see in the viewer, as well).
Are there any settings I should consider?
Any answers appreciated.

This is fairly common. Few cameras have 100% view. Some show a bit more, but most a bit less.
Now, depending on how you are going to output the footage, it might be no problem. If you're going to TV, via DVD, then the overscan of CRT TV's will possibly crop this extra area off. If you are not sure, or your audience will have newer LED/LCD/etc. TV's, you can do one of several things.
1.) Keep things just as they are, and use the Garbage Matte to eliminate the offending objects. You'll end up with a bit of black, around your final image, unless you have some sort of background behind it.
2.) Keep things just as they are, and use Crop to do about the same. Same result as above.
3.) Use Motion Effect>Scale (and possibly a bit of Position), to enlarge the image to beyond the screen area, approximating what you saw in the viewfinder/LCD. Since you will only be doing a tiny bit of this, quality will not suffer.
Personally, I'd use #3. Trust me, this is far easier in video, than it ever was with film. Without a good budget, it meant a re-shoot, should a mic swing into the frame, or a lightstand peek in at the corner!

App (game) is bigger than the display - but zoom is deactivated

i have purchased an app (a game, ice age village) for mit ipad2 - but i cannot play it because the picture resolution is too big.....it means the picture ist bigger than the display. It seems like the display ist too small - the picture too big for the ipad.
Reinstall again didn't work - i also tried to reset the ipad.
Nothing works.
I was also comparing all settings with my friends ipad2..... the app is running without problems on his ipad.

I checked the monitor's settings. There are different zooming levels but nothing works properly. I think this is a specific radeon/linux problem because i tried the monitor with a Macbook Air via HDMI/mini DisplayPort adapter and the display is set correctly.
