APEX 3.0 XLS-FO Report Layout

Hallo,
another question for 3.0 :
I just created a custom xsl:fo stylesheet based on the XML data
which gave me the "Report Queries" wizard. In the XSL Editor it looks quite well
but using my regions "Print" link i get only a blank page.
Now i recognized the uploaded xslt format is now rtf when i download it.
Also it is in format "Named Columns (RTF)" but i uploaded it using "Named Columns (XSL-FO)".
Is this custom stuff without BI Publisher plugin really working already ?
Thanks,
Jochen

Hello,
I can confirm this behaviour. After uploading a XSL-FO report layout and assigning this report to a report query, I get an empty PDF after calling the query.
When I look at the request that was sent to BI Publisher (or Apache FOP), I see that
&_xtype=rtf
is always added to the request when I upload a named column template, regardless wether I uploaded a RTF or a XSL-FO template. It appears that ApEx always stores type = rtf when uploading a named column template (XSL and RTF).
Is this a known problem? Any workarounds or statements when this will be fixed?
Thanks
Stephan

  • Oracle bi publisher report for apex - Report Layout

    Hi There,
    Navigation: Home>Application Builder>Application 20>Shared Components>Report Layouts
    I created rtf template for a Report Query. It worked fine upto certain point.
    However at some point, if I make a minor modification to the layout it is not displaying all the data that it is supposed to.
    I have 3 tables in my RTF template 1) Header 2) Details 3) Summary. Details section has a group. This runs fine.
    Now if I just combine all the above 3 tables into one by adding row above and row below to the "2) details" table and moving the table 1 and table 3 into those rows, makes the data in the group in table 2 disappear when run on the apex application.
    However it works fine when data is loaded on the RTF template and Preview --> PDF is seen.
    Is it a known bug? Because some of my coleagues has same issues.
    Thanks

  • How to set it up to use BI Publisher Report layout in APEX

    Hi all,
    I downloaded the xml file from APEX to create a BI Publisher report layout and uploaded it to APEX report layout in share component. When I click the test report button, nothing showed. Would you show me what else I need to do to make it work?
    Any suggestions are appreciated.

    You need to use the desktop layout editor that works under Word to develop report layouts..

  • Custom Report Layout in APEX 3.0 PDF

    How much freedom do we have when developing a custom report layout using BI Publisher when we create the template file using the Word XML add-on?
    Why I am asking is, I am trying to replicate several Crystal based reports that use multiple lines of for data. They group on several columns and display the grouped data on separate lines in the report.
    Grouping 1 Line one has customer detail information
    Next grouping 1 or more lines are provider of service line information
    Last Line count of detail lines for customer
    Or would I be better off porting these reports to Oracle Reports?

  • APEX 5: report layouts broken after download

    Hi, after switching from 4.02 to 5.0, I´m testing the new environment. Today I run into a problem I cannot solve. I have a lot of report layots stored in the section in Shared components, alle Named Columns RTF format. All these layouts are working fine in the application. But if I download one, the result is a damaged file. MS Word can not open it ('file is damaged' or 'not enough space' ). It also looks like the downloaded file is always bigger then the uploaded source.
    I did a test:
    - download one layout from a backup server (with APEX 4.02)
    - controlled it by opening in Word, all fine
    - upload to APEX 5.0
    - test in the application, result is ok.
    - download again: file size changed from 284kB to 388kB, file is damaged.
    Is there any help? - Thank you!

    Hi Norbert,
    Getting back to your report layout download problem - there is an issue with certain versions of the database, which causes CLOB_TO_BLOB conversion to not always work properly (bug 7459168). This is what is causing the download of your RTF documents to produce invalid results. The files in your database are not affected by this, it's only an issue on export. To work around this database bug we've filed bug 20931298, and we've implemented a fix for this, which will be available with out first patch set, APEX 5.0.1. As usual, I do not have a date yet when this will be available. Can I ask what version of the database you are currently using?

  • Report Layouts in APEX 3.0

    Hello,
    i am interested in the report layouts in the new apex 3.0 version.
    Does anybody have experiences with that?
    Is it true, that I can edit the xml file only with a licensed version of XML publisher and not the desktop version?
    By the way is ther a users guide for apex 3.0 in which the report layout section is described?
    Thank you,
    Tim

    Hello Tim,
    First, you can experience APEX 3 your self, registering to the evaluation instance.
    There isn't yet a proper documentation to the new version, and even some of the internal help screens are not available yet. Still, there are several threads in this forum about the new PDF native support, that can help you understand the principles. Search the forum using the keyword "PDF" and user name "Marc Sewtz". These threads will answer the rest of your questions.

  • Report Layout and Report Query APEX tables

    Does anyone know a quick way to delete report layouts and report queries from the APEX tables that they are stored in. We currently have to go into the shared components area and delete them one by one using the builder. If we could just get the table that they are stored in and delete them by name, that would be extremely useful. Oracle does not support this type of data manipulation.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

    Hi,
    There are Top and Bottom – Left and Top and Bottom – Right.
    I suppose that you have something wrong in the SQL Query or in the report.
    Make a new report using the wizard. Then use Report Template – Standard and Top and Bottom – Left.

  • Create Report Layout (Apex 3.2) - How can I set the substitution variables?

    Hi,
    I created a "Report Query" under "Shared Components". I now want to work on the corresponding "report layout". I created a "Generic Columns (XSL-FO)". I read the following in the documentation:
    The following are valid substitution strings:
    #PAGE_HEADER#
    #PAGE_HEADERFONT_COLOR#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_FAMILY#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_SIZE#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #PAGE_FOOTER#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_COLOR#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_FAMILY#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_SIZE#
    #PAGE_FOOTER_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #PAGE_WIDTH#
    #PAGE_HEIGHT#
    #HEADER_BG_COLOR#
    #HEADER_FONT_COLOR#
    #HEADER_FONT_FAMILY#
    #HEADER_FONT_SIZE#
    #HEADER_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #BODY_BG_COLOR#
    #BODY_FONT_COLOR#
    #BODY_FONT_FAMILY#
    #BODY_FONT_SIZE#
    #BODY_FONT_WEIGHT#
    #BORDER_WIDTH#
    Where can I set the values for these substitution variables in my "Report Layout"? Could someone give an example? I can't seem to find documentation on this.
    Thanks!
    Francois

    Thanks for the tip however I'm not trying to do this through the print tab, I'm calling the report using the following get_print_document in pl/sql code:
    l_report_blob := apex_util.get_print_document(
    p_application_id => l_application_id,
    p_report_layout_name => l_report,
    p_report_query_name => l_report,
    p_report_layout_type => l_output_format,
    p_document_format => l_output_format,
    p_print_server => null);
    Where could I set these substitution variables ? I'm simply calling a report query and layout created under Shared Components.
    Thanks

  • Custom Report Layout with mutliple child tables

    I am trying to create a custom report layout (using Bi Publisher) where I have parent data (multiple jobs on a page) and several child tables for each job (JobDays and JobStops) and several child tables for JobDays (JobDayProviders, JobDayCrew). On the apex screen, I have a join on Jobs and JobDays and I am using functions to string each child row value for JobDayProviders and JobDayCrew together and putting a <br> in between so that they will format on separate lines within a cell. It works fine on the screen but when trying to print to pdf, it ignores these line breaks. I have also tried using <br></br> (saw an article that said just use HTML in bi pulisher) which puts two lines in between each value on the screen and is still ignored on the pdf.
    for example:
    Table hierarchy:
    Jobs table
    Job Stops
    Job Days
    Job Day Service Providers
    Job Day Crew
    Report Layout per job (will have mutlipe jobs to print, just printing 1 day per job):
    Jobs.col1 JobStops.row1 JobDay.col1 JobDayProviders.row1 JobDayCrew.r1
    JobStops.row2 JobDayProviders.row2 JobDayCrew.r2
    JobDayProviders.row3
    Thanks,
    Linda
    First, is there a way to get bi publisher to recognize the line breaks? If not, what is the best way to create a custom report for this scenario? I tried to create a report query with mutliple queries, but cannot determine how to link the child queries to the paren query. I have seen an example where a button is pressed to print one parent row and the id of that row is saved and referenced as a parameter in each of the queries, but if printing mutliple parents on a report, how would I link the child queries to the parent query?

    Helen,
    The best way for your case is to use a content folder and customize it whichever way you like.
    however, your question is about reports. the problem in reports is this that you have to use just one single query and the layout of the results of this query are displayed in a peculiar way.
    anyway. something similar but not exactly the same as what you wanted do is the following.
    use a query like the following: (with a union in between)
    SELECT COLUMN1,NULL , NULL ,NULL ,NULL
    FROM my_source_table
    WHERE myCriteria LIKE 'SoAndSo%'
    UNION
    SELECT NULL,COLUMN2 , COLUMN3, COLUMN4, COLUMN5
    FROM my_source_table
    WHERE myCriteria LIKE 'SoAndSo%'
    ---------- Now, have the following codes in the layout segments:
    <!--- header --->
    <table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="1" width="20%" align="center">
    <!--- body --->
    <tr align="center">
    <td><table border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0" width="30%" align="center">
    <tr align="center">
    <TH><#COLUMN1.FIELD#></TH>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </td>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN2.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN3.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN4.FIELD#></TD>
    <TD class="report_cell" ALIGN="LEFT"><#COLUMN5.FIELD#></TD>
    </tr>
    <!--- footer --->
    <TR><TD></TD></TR>
    this should produce a report with a table structure (you may see the whole if you give BORDER="1" in the main table tag). Within this table, the first column of the first row should be showing top-leftmost column value once (COLUMN1 value) and then the next rows would show last four column values as a table block on the right-bottom part.
    with kind regards,
    naqvi

  • Report print attributes - custom report layout

    Hi there,
    I've looked for this information in the web and in this forum without luck so far...
    We have here BI Publisher and I use the "Enable Report Printing" option in a traditional report in Apex 4.0.2. That works great.
    But instead of using the "Default Report Layout", I want to use a custom one based on a RTF file. However I have no idea what the data XML looks like in order to build a custom layout.
    To be clear: if you go to Shared Components > Report Queries, you have a Download XML Data option so you can build your report layout based on the XML structure. For instance, you can use <?for-each:ROWSET1_ROW?>, <?COLUMN_NAME?> etc
    Any ideas about what that XML structure is for a traditional report?
    Thanks
    Luis

    Found it: change temporarily the output format to XML and download the report. The XML structure is all there. Very helpful to know that all page items are included in the XML as well. It would be good to have this functionality detailed somewhere in the Apex documentation.
    What I still need to know is how to access the substitution strings below in my RTF (NOT XSL-FO) template:
    Select Default Report Layout to use the built-in generic report layout.
    To use a custom generic report layout, select it from the list.
    You can use the following substitution strings when building custom XSL-FO report layouts:
    #PAGE_HEADER#
    #PAGE_HEADERFONT_COLOR#
    #PAGE_HEADER_FONT_FAMILY#
    ...Any ideas?

  • Issue with Shared Components - Report Layouts Download

    After my isp provider upgraded from APEX 3.2.1 to 4.0, I am now unable to go into the Shared Components -> Report Layouts section and access an existing report to download my rtf template. Is there another way to go and get this out of the database. I need to update a report layout that is old and I do not have a backup of the original report and do not want to spend the time to recreate.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    If you have TOAD, or if you can install it, by connecting to your database you will be able to access your report layout via the Schema Browser. The whole path should be "All Schemas -> APEX_040000 -> Tables -> WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS". In that table you will find you report layout. Double click on it and copy/paste it into a text editor.
    Note: You might need to be granted some rights to access the 400+ tables of the APEX_040000 schema. Or if you have a DBA, ask him to do this for you.
    Of course, if you don't want to install TOAD, I bet you could query that table from the SQL Commands of the SQL Workshop, but you would again need the rights to access said table.
    Best regards,
    Mathieu

  • Attribute "Report Layout" is missing in the "Print Attributes" tab for IR

    Hallo,
    The attribute “Report Layout” is missing in the “Print Attributes” tab for an interactive report?
    How to alter the report layout (xsl-fo) of an interactive report?
    Has someone any idea where to configure this?
    Btw, for the "classic" SQL Report the XSL-FO "Report Layout" can be cahnged in "Print Attributes" and this works fine for me. But I want to change the xsl-fo for the interactive report.
    "If you do not select a report layout, a default XSL-FO layout is used. The default XSL-FO layout is always used for rendering Interactive Report regions. ... Unlike classic reports, the Interactive Report Print Attributes can only utilize the default XSL-FO layout and is initiated from the Report Attributes, Download section rather than directly from this screen. Once configured, these attributes only apply only to the current region and cannot be used outside the context of the region."
    http://apex.oracle.com/i/doc/bldapp_rpt_print.htm
    How can the "default XSL-FO layout" be changed?
    Changing is necessary because the Apache FOP 1.0 reports the following error (for the transmitted default XSL-FO):
    "fo:simple-page-master", "fo:region-body" must be declared before "fo:region-before"
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xsl/#fo_region-before
    The default report layout is not saved in:
    select * from APEX_040000.WWV_FLOW_REPORT_LAYOUTS
    Thx, Willi

    I've found two workaround for getting Apache FOP 1.0 to work with Oracle Apex 4.0 for PDF printing of interactive reports:
    1, Use an application process to set your custom layout for interactive reports:
    [ ] grant all on APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3 to {YOUR_SCHEMA_NAME};
    [ ] Create an Application Process e.g. "Custom Report Layout" with constraint for request 'PDF' and Process Text:
    declare
    v_xsl varchar2(32767);
    begin
    v_xsl := '<?xml version = ''1.0'' encoding = ''utf-8''?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version="2.0"
      <fo:region-body region-name="region-body" margin-top="54.0pt" margin-bottom="54.0pt"/>
      <fo:region-before region-name="region-header" extent="54.0pt"/>
    </xsl:stylesheet>';
    APEX_040000.WWV_RENDER_REPORT3.g_prn_template := v_xsl;
    end;2, If you have some knowlege in Java change the sequnce of the the nodes in the apex_fop.jsp (or servlet), ie. changing the xsl before you use it for transformation.
    The code depends on the solution you are using to parse the xsl string.
    Hope this may help someone,
    Willi

  • Apex 3.1. Interactive Report. Questions and Problems.

    Hello!
    First of all I'd like to say Interactive Report is a really really brilliant feature, it covers exactly that points which we were missing in previous releases of Apex. Only this single feature makes Apex 3.1 release most significant for us since may be HTML DB 1.6. So much much thanks!
    So I have some questions about Interactive Report (IR):
    1) About "Save Report" feature. It is possible there to save own version of report layout or overwright the default settings. There is also possibility to completelly disable this function. So the question is it possible to disable only the ability to overwright the default report but give the ability to save own reports. It would be reasonable since too smart or too dum users can break the default layout of report and break the work for other users which don't use this function at all. At the same time the possibility to save own reports
    is absolutelly perfect
    2) Search. I'm from Germany and we have some national non-english symbols. The IR can't perform seach correctly if we use words with such symbols. Example word "Bestätigt" is interpreted by IR as "Bestätigt". At the same time the words are correctly displayed in reports and in interface. We have correct NLS_LANG, we have imported the lang_de.sql , and our own self-made search on simple reports works ok. What's to do?
    3) Charts in IR. Is there some data volume limits for Chart in IR ? sometimes we get the message "Loading XML...100%" during chart rendering and then happens nothing. In log file of Apache there is no any error messages...
    Thanks in advance,
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
    Glad to hear you're putting interactive reports to use, we put in a lot of time trying to get them right (at least for their first release).
    1) The "Save As Default Report Settings" option is only available for Developers, so you can only see it if you already see the developer toolbar at the bottom of the page. Standard end-users can't see this, so they can't save over your default report settings.
    2) That's right, the character set of the DAD needs to be AL32UTF8.
    3) A maximum of 1000 chart points will be returned, but you should not get this error. Can you describe the columns you are charting and the chart settings?

  • Download and Upload  Report Layout for End User

    hi, i did the following
    1. create an xml data file
    2. load in in bipublisher
    3.create a layout
    4. create a report query in apex and load the rtf created in step 3
    5. test the report.
    it works fine.
    my requirement is for trained end users (bipublisher trained) to download the rtf and edit it if need be. most of the editing will be text and they will not be editing any data fields. i will create a button for the end user to download the report layout, but what api can i use to download the rtf for them and where should i move the report layout (any apis for this) upon upload after the rtf is edited by the user.
