Apex Listener 2.0.1 vs Sql Developer Administration 3.2.20.09 bugs

Apex Listener 2.0.1 / Sql Developer 3.2.20.09 / Apex 4.1.1
1. I'm using basic connection type with service name. Each time I connect to listener administration it is resetted to SID with default name as orcl.
2. Test Settings does not work in case hostname is localhost.
Database Settings apex:Cannot connect to APEX_PUBLIC_USER. Исключение ввода/вывода (input/output exception): The Network Adapter could not establish the connection>
At the same time it's working in defaults.xml:
<entry key="db.hostname">localhost</entry>I'm not sure why. Database and Apex Listener are installed on the same mashine. May be this can help:
<Warning> <Server> <x> <> <DynamicListenThread[Default]> <<WLS Kernel>> <> <> <> <BEA-002611> <Hostname "x", maps to multiple IP addresses: 10.110.x.x, 0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1> 3. I can see "Enable RESTful Services" action in (url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E35137_01/appdev.32/e35117/intro.htm#autoId110)SQL Developer User's Guide. Still there is no such action in Sql Developer. Thus settings are always uploaded with enabled RESTful Services.
I see error
The pool named: apex_al does not existeach time I connect to Apex Listener Administration in case of RESTful Services is not configured during configuration of apex.war.
I can't find any restrictions for RESTful Services to be configured. So I think this error is unnecessary.
4. From sql developer User's Guide
Connect (context menu only): Connects to the Application Express Listener (see Connecting to Application Express Listener Server).Retrieve Settings, Upload Settings, and Launch URL are enabled when you connect to the Application Express Listener.>
administration settings are retrieved and displayed but still Retrieve Settings, Upload Settings, and Launch URL are disabled in context menu after connection.
I need to perform New Administration action to make them enabled.
Is this expected behavior ?
Is this all bugs or known features ?

Igor

I am trying to create a connection to a standalone Apex Listener installation via SQL Developer to manage the listener settings. I start a new connection and after entering the UN/PWD of the Listener Administrator I get the following error:
Authentication failed
"CANNOT CONNECT TO CONNECTION.

In the Standalone APEX Listener DOS window I'm getting the following error message:
SEVERE: The pool named: apex_al does not exist
So where do I even start to trouble shoot this???
I add a connection as follows:
Connection Name: Connection

    Edited by: user13373417 on 07-Jul-2010 09:06It appears you don't have a very clear understanding of how the client and the server are configured to communicate with one another.
    ============
    A couple of important points.
    First, the listener is a server side only process. It's entire purpose in life is to receive requests for connections to databases and set up those connections. Once the connection is established, the listener is out of the picture. It creates the connection. It doesn't sustain the connection. One listener, running from one oracle home, listening on a single port, will serve multiple database instances of multiple versions running from multiple homes. It is an unnecessary complexity to try to have multiple listeners. That would be like the telephone company building a separate switchboard for each customer.
    Second, the tnsnames.ora file is a client side issue. It's purpose is for address resolution - the tns equivalent of the 'hosts' file further down the network stack. The only reason it exists on a host machine is because that machine can also run client processes.
    Assume you have the following in your tnsnames.ora:
    larry =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = myhost)(PORT = 1521))
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SERVICE_NAME = curley)
      )Now, when you issue a connect, say like this:
    $> sqlplus scott/tiger@larrytns will look in your tnsnames.ora for an entry called 'larry'. Next, tns sends a request to (PORT = 1521) on (HOST = myhost) using (PROTOCOL = TCP), asking for a connection to (SERVICE_NAME = curley).
    Where is (HOST = myhost) on the network? When the request gets passed from tns to the next layer in the network stack, the name 'myhost' will get resolved to an IP address, either via a local 'hosts' file, via DNS, or possibly other less used mechanisms. You can also hard-code the ip address (HOST = 123.456.789.101) in the tnsnames.ora.
    Next, the request arrives at port 1521 on myhost. Hopefully, there is a listener on myhost configured to listen on port 1521, and that listener knows about SERVICE_NAME = curley. If so, you'll be connected.
    What can go wrong?
    First, there may not be an entry for 'larry' in your tnsnames. In that case you get "ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified" No need to go looking for a problem on the host, with the listener, etc. If you can't place a telephone call because you don't know the number (can't find your telephone directory (tnsnames.ora) or can't find the party you are looking for listed in it (no entry for larry)) you don't look for problems at the telephone switchboard.
    Maybe the entry for larry was found, but myhost couldn't be resolved to an IP address (say there was no entry for myhost in the local hosts file). This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
    Maybe there was an entry for myserver in the local hosts file, but it specified a bad IP address. This will result in "ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist"
    Maybe the IP was good, but there is no listener running: "ORA-12541: TNS:no listener"
    Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, but it is listening on a different port. "ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error"
    Maybe the IP was good, there is a listener at myhost, it is listening on the specified port, but doesn't know about SERVICE_NAME = curley. "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor"

  • SQL Developer 3.1: Job Chains - 2 Bugs.

    Hi.
    Just having a play with defining job chains in SQL Developer 3.1 and I came across these bugs...
    1) When you try to define a new chain using SQL Developer you get, "ORA-01741: illegal zero-length identifier"
    If you look on the SQL tab you can see that it is messing up the double quotes, placing two sets of double quotes around the chain_name.
    BEGIN
        sys.dbms_scheduler.create_chain(
            comments => '',
            chain_name => '"TEST".""test_chain_3""'
          sys.dbms_scheduler.enable(name=>'"TEST".""test_chain_3""');
    END;If you remove the extra quotes and run the code it works fine.
    2) The job chain diagram seems to be case sensitive as far as the rule definitions are concerned.
    If you follow the chain setup in SQL*Plus described here (http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/SchedulerEnhancements_10gR2.php#job_chains), then check the associated diagram in SQL Developer it is displayed properly.
    Now repeat the chain definition from SQL*Plus, but this time define the conditions and actions of the rules in lower case (which is valid and functions as expected).
    BEGIN
      DBMS_SCHEDULER.define_chain_rule (
        chain_name => 'test_chain_1',
        condition  => 'TRUE',
        action     => 'start chain_step_1',
        rule_name  => 'chain_rule_1',
        comments   => 'First link in the chain.');
      DBMS_SCHEDULER.define_chain_rule (
        chain_name => 'test_chain_1',
        condition  => 'chain_step_1 completed',
        action     => 'start chain_step_2',
        rule_name  => 'chain_rule_2',
        comments   => 'Second link in the chain.');
      DBMS_SCHEDULER.define_chain_rule (
        chain_name => 'test_chain_1',
        condition  => 'chain_step_2 completed',
        action     => 'start chain_step_3',
        rule_name  => 'chain_rule_3',
        comments   => 'Third link in the chain.');
      DBMS_SCHEDULER.define_chain_rule (
        chain_name => 'test_chain_1',
        condition  => 'chain_step_3 completed',
        action     => 'END',
        rule_name  => 'chain_rule_4',
        comments   => 'End of the chain.');
    END;
    /Now check the diagram again in SQL Developer and you will see that all the steps are present, but the links (rules) are not correctly displayed. Seems like it is case sensitive...
    If you need any more info, please ask.
    Cheers
    Tim...
    Edited by: TimHall on Feb 10, 2012 4:23 PM

    I have confirmed your two test cases are indeed bugs and I have raised them. The first seems to be if you have a mixture of _ and lowercase characters in the name but we will look at other cases too. The second is that the parsing of the condition/action does not uppercase unquoted ids. The second can be cirumvented by using quotes etc.

  • 30EA1 - SQL-Developer 3.0.02 Connection Folder Bug

    hi,
    there are several treads concerning the poor "connection folder" (no sub-folders, folder-structure not in connection export,...) functionality...
    Today i found an new annoying "feature". If you rename a connection within a folder and restart SQL Developer, you will find the connection outside at the bottom of the folders. If you rename all connections within a folder, the folder disappears after restart.
    Its essential to reimplement the connection pane. The storage of the folder-structure outside "connections.xml" in "product-preferences.xml" will always be unmanageable!

    Bug 9734466: RENAME CONNECTION MOVES IT OUT OF THE CURRENT FOLDER

    I will add reference to this post in the bug.

  • SQL-Developer  4.0.0.13.80 Bug? No negative values for axis scale accepted

    I reported this problem already for the versions EA1 and EA2 of SQL-Developer 4 (4.0EA1 No negative values for axis scales in diagrams) but it still exists in 4.0.0.13.80:  Even if it is now possible to define the minimum and maximum values for the y-axis of a diagram, I found no way to enter negative values for the minimum value. Neither -100 nor (100) is accepted. The value always switches to 0. I have a report which shows values from -97 to 387. Automatic scaling sets the y-axis from -200 to 500 but I would prefer a scale from -100 to 400. How is this possible?
    btw.: the German translation for "scale" in the diagram settings is bad. It is translated with "Nachkommastellen" but it should be "Skalierung".

    In 4.0EA2 this topic is still not fixed.

  • Can we keep APEX open? Query works in SQL Developer but not Oracle APEX

    Hi Sirini,
    Just my thoughts -- but if one of these is closed, I think it should be the other one {thread:id=2496751} where he's getting the run-around. This one {thread:id=2496754} (APEX!) should be the one kept open. Don't you think?
    My 2 cents,
    Howard

    ..where he's getting the run-around...What runaround? The posters there determined that he needed a semi-colon at the end of the statement and then that he had forgotten the INTO clause. Both are beginner errors. OP has closed the thread as answered and has gone 'off to Google' to learn more about creating SQL queries in PL/SQL. This seems resolved -- at least until he comes back from his Googlequest with another question.

    Hi John,
    I don't think that 'CHAR' causes the issue. For example
    extract_code CHAR(5 CHAR)
    Explicitly tells Oracle that the extract_code is of 5 characters in length, not 5 bytes in length. This helps allot when you have multibyte characters in your database.
    The problem is this column definition
    spouse_address_mod_date datetimn(8,0) DEFAULT SYSDATE NOT NULL,
    Looks like the datatype datetimn was not mapped to its Oracle equivalent.
    Actually Im not 100% sure about the datatype datetimn.
    Its not listed as a datatype in the Sybase doc.
    http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.help.ase_15.0.quickref/html/quickref/quickref1.htm
    But it is referenced here as a system type ?
    http://infocenter.sybase.com/help/index.jsp?topic=/com.sybase.dc36274_1251/html/tables/X37714.htm
    Maybe you could shed some light on this datatype and its best emulation in Oracle.
    for the moment lets assume that it should go to Oracle DATE datatype.
    After I made that change the table created successfully.
    spouse_address_mod_date date DEFAULT SYSDATE NOT NULL
    Ill log a bug about this, but as I said if you have any information of DATETIMN that would be great.
    Regards,
    Dermot.
    PS: why does everyone blame the parser?

  • SQL Developer Exchange Upgrade?

    Can the APEX installation used to provide the SQL Developer Exchange be upgraded to APEX 3.1 and the various reports redeveloped as Interactive Reports? This would give Exchange users the ability to customise the screens to their requirements, particularly the Feature Requests which has become unwieldy. The ability to perform more complex custom filtering on this report would be very useful.

    Agreed. Done.

  • BUG: SQL Developer 1.5.3 CSV export column order broken

    There's a bug in the 1.5.3 release of SQL Developer regarding data export. This bug re-orders the column order in the data export to be alphabetically sorted. This produces mangled CSV files if used on a table or a view.
    This is a critical bug to me since I need to produce lots of ad-hoc data CSV export files. I'm staying with SQL Developer 1.5.0.53 (53.38) for now as it doesn't have this problem.
    This is the same bug as present in Jdeveloper 11.1 as described in my post here: BUG: Jdev 11.1.1.0.0 -- DB table data export column order is not preserved
    Quoted from that post:
    When I connect to Oracle database, get the table list, right click on the table and select 'Export Data'->csv. The dialog box opens with three tabs: Format, Columns, Where. The column order displayed in both tabs Columns and Where is alphabetic. Because alphabetic ordering re-arranges columns from their initial ordering in the table, this screws up CSV export because columns are not in their intended order. This same problem occurs when I try to export data from views to generate a CSV file with a particular column order.
    Please open/check bug report if it's already open.
    Thanks!

    This happens with all of the export options for tables or views if you right click from the connections tab table list. If I pull it up in the main window and go to the data tab, I can then right click and it will keep the column id order for some of the views and tables. But not all.

    2. I also ran
    grant insert, delete on APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups to APEX_LISTENER;
    alter session set current_schema = APEX_LISTENER;
    create or replace synonym wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups for APEX_040200.wwv_flow_rt$privilege_groups;
    as per Oracle SQL Developer User's Guide Release 4.0
    3. copied ords.war to apex.war
    4. java -jar apex.war configdir /u01/app/oracle/admin/apex/devdomain1/
    5. java -jar apex.war

    Any help much appreciated

    Further to the above post, I thought I'd simplify my Apex Listener install just to see if I can connect to it via SQL Developer
    So downloaded the latest version 2.0.8 and decided to configure and run the Listener on my pc whilst still connecting to the same database.
    Operating system : Window 7 Pro 64 bit
    Oracle Apex Listener 2.0.8
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_25-b17)
    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.25-b01, mixed mode)
    Went through the configuration as above, once started I tried again to access the listener via SQL Developer. This time I received this output from the listener:
    INFO: Error: ORA-02291: integrity constraint (APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_RT$APPROVALS_SGID_FK) violated - parent key not found, occurred during execution of: [CALL, insert into wwv_flow_rt$approvals (user_name,status,client_id,security_group_id,created_by,created_on,updated_by,updated_on) values(/*in:user_id*/?,/*in:status*/?,/*in:client_id*/?,/*in:tenant_id*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?,upper(/*in:user_id*/?),/*in:created*/?), [tenant_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [client_id, in, class java.math.BigInteger], [user_id, in, class java.lang.String], [status, in, class oracle.dbtools.rt.oauth.ApprovalRequest$Status], [created, in, class java.sql.Timestamp]]with values: [adminlistener, APPROVED, 3858401374580004, -1, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785, adminlistener, 2014-06-23 12:19:18.785]
    SQL Developer responded with an Authentication Failed titled dialog with the following displayed in the body of the dialog

  • SQL Developer Error when connecting to Listener on Glassfish

    I am having some issues with connecting to Apex Listener via SQL Developer. I get "cannot connect to connection" when I attempt to connect.
    I do get apex pages (when I use the Glassfish default port - it doesn't seem to take the specified port which is defined as 7788 in the apex.properties at the config.dir location).
    I have defined the user via the war config (which is written to the credentials file), and added the users under default config > file realm in Glassfish.
    I wonder if anyone has had a similar issue?
    I am using the following:
    Glassfish 3.1.2.2
    Apex Listener 2.0.2.133.14.50
    SQL Dev 3.2.09

The port specified in apex.properties is only used by Standalone Mode, the port that GlassFish uses is configured by GlassFish, not Listener.
    I have defined the user via the war config (which is written to the credentials file), and added the users under default config > file realm in Glassfish.You only need to do the former, doing the latter should have no effect, I would remove the user in the GlassFish file realm, to avoid causing confusion.

    Ensure you have spelt the role name correctly when setting up the user, any typos (it is case sensitive) and it won't match the role, and will therefore refuse access.
    You have disabled SSL verfication as well? (If you are not using SSL)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E37099_01/doc/doc.20/e25066/install.htm#CHDJFAAI
    If neither of those work, try turning on logging in the Listener to see if the request is even reaching Listener (It sounds like it's not even connecting TBH).

  • Query works in SQL Developer but not in Oracle APEX

    The query below runs and produces the correct result in SQL Developer, but when I try to put it into a PL/SQL process in Apex I get the error shown. There is no semi-colon at the end of the query in APEX.
    The error is:
    ORA-06550: line 10, column 54: PL/SQL: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended ORA-06550: line 2, column 1: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored ORA-06550: line 11, column 21: PLS-00103: Encountered the symbol "end-of-file" when expecting one of the following: ( begin case declare end exception exit for goto if loop mod null pragma raise return select update while with.
    The query is:
    SELECT *
    FROM
    (SELECT *
    from T3_LEADS
    WHERE
    (SYSDATE - Last_Mailed_Date) > 60 OR Last_Mailed_Date is null
    WHERE MARKET_ID = 'Salt_Lake_City' AND rownum <= 100

    That is because when you run a SQL in SQL*Plus or SQLDeveloper the output is displayed on the screen, but in Apex you need to select those values into variables so you can do something with the data.
    delcare
      v_emp_id    employee.emp_id%type;
    begin
      select emp_id
        into v_emp_id
        from employee
      where lname = 'JOHNSON' and fname = 'BILLY';
      -- Then do something with that data
      if v_emp_id between 1 and 10 then
      end if;
    end;Probably a bad SQL for an example. For your SQL though, you are selecting * which you would be able to select into a rowtype variable, but you are probably going to start having problems like "Exact fetch returns more that one row" since your query will probably return more that one value. In those cases you want to use cursors, and loop through the data one record at a time. You can Google all of that.

  • Why does the query work in SQL Developer, but not in APEX?

    Hi, guys:
    I have a silly question. I have a complicated query, and I tested it successfully with SQL developer, and result is correct. However, when I put it into APEX to generate a report, it always reports no data found. I also know the condition related to "other marks" select list in the where clause part causes this problem. It also looks strange: before I add this condition, everything works OK; after I add this condition, even I do not choose the "other marks" select list, other components do not work neither. I always got no data found result. Could anyone help me on this problem? You can also visit our developing site as http://lsg-solutions.com:8888/apex/f?p=206 to check the problem.
    Thanks a lot
    Sam

    My suggestion would be to put some instrumentation into your query and see what values you are using.. Or even simpler take out ALL the where clauses you can until data starts to sho wup and then add them back in one at a time until you find the culprit..
    My bet would be on any date comparisons you are doing between page items and database columns..

  • Why will a query work in SQL Developer but not in Apex?

    Here's a good one. I created a dynamic LOV with the following query.
    select
    e.DESCR d,
    ee.ENTRD_EVNT_SK r
    from
    PT_EVNT_IN_DIV eid,
    PT_ENTRD_EVNT ee,
    PT_EVNT e
    where ee.PGNT_SK = :PGNT_SK
    and ee.CNTSNT_SK = :CNTSNT_SK
    and ee.EVNT_IN_DIV_SK = eid.EVNT_IN_DIV_SK
    and eid.EVNT_SK = e.EVNT_SK
    and ee.ENTRD_EVNT_SK not in
    (select js.ENTRD_EVNT_SK
    from PT_JDG_SCR js
    where js.JDG_SK = :JDG_SK
    and js.PGNT_SK = :ai_pgnt_sk
    and js.CNTSNT_SK = :CNTSNT_SK)
    order by 1
    The query works fine in SQL Developer, but Apex gives the following error when compiling it in the LOV editor.
    "1 error has occurred
    - LOV query is invalid, a display and a return value are needed, the column names need to be different. If your query contains an in-line query, the first FROM clause in the SQL statement must not belong to the in-line query."
    I tried rearranging the entries in the From clause, but that didn't do any good.
    Do you see what I can do to make Apex accept it?
    Thanks,
    Kim

    The column named ENTRD_EVNT_SK is used twice in a select. Once in the main select and once in the inline query.
    The validation maybe choking on that.
    Try giving the column in the inline query an alias and see if that helps.
