I'm not sure if we can directly convert the Android project to Windows Phone/Store app project, but we can share the code between deferent platforms, as the documentation says here:

If the code is specific to Android platform, it's not possible to convert it to windows platform I think.

How can I double-click a file to open it in default app in my Visual Studio project without creating an installer?

I have an app with code to open a file by double-clicking on it. The app in my Visual Studio project file should start automatically and then open the file automatically. I double-click on the file, then look for the app in my solution folder (I choose the
.exe in the Debug folder). Am I choosing the correct .exe file?
What I'm trying to do is test some code I wrote that will open the associated file type when I double click on it, as opposed to creating an installer, installing the app and then double-clicking on the file to see if it will open in the associated app automatically.

Yes, I think you could doubt click the .exe file in your local machine.
Of course, maybe you could get it in Bin\Debug or Bin\Release folder, it is related to the current project settings.

That is a Windows issue. Perhaps you should contact Microsoft about Windows issue not Visual Studio issue.
You say it fails to work. So I would imagine it downloaded and installed then you attempt to launch it and it fails to work. Or is it the download that fails to work?
Windows Compatibility Mode you can search for on the internet also.
Below is an image of an executables properties. One of the tabs (the one displayed) is for Compatibility. The issue with your system is not an issue for this forum. It's possible a setting displayed below for your executable or possibly your executables

The Tools for Universal Windows Apps requires Visual Studio 2015 RC. If you have an earlier build installed, for example, Visual Studio 2015 CTP6, you must first uninstall Visual Studio 2015 and the Tools for Windows.

To uninstall earlier versions of Visual Studio 2015 and the tools for Universal Windows app development,
Go to Control Panel, and select Programs & Features.
Select Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 and click Change.
Click Remove, and then Yes.
Next, select Microsoft Visual Studio 2015 Tools for Windows 10, and click

Visual Studio Designer Window Not Working

Problem is as stated. Everytime I open Visual Studio Express 2013 for Windows, my XAML designer window keeps throwing this error below. I tried uninstall and reinstalling the program, to no avail. Any ideas?

Problem with installing Visual Studio on Windows 8

I am disappointed to buy windows 8 based machine. I installed visual studio 2013 on Windows 7 machine and it was compiling well
But i installed same on my windows 8 machine. But i am not able to compile simple program

App Certification Fails While uploading into Windows Phone Store..

I am facing an issue from last few days and stuck badly .
Whenever i am uploading my app in windows phone store getting the below error for everytime..
Your app submission does not include a privacy policy. Apps that use, collect, or share personal information must include a privacy policy that informs users how
this information is used, stored, secured, and disclosed. See policy 10.5.1 for details about the requirements for a privacy policy.
Please let me know what i need to do to resolve the above issue. What step i need to take..

As part of the submission process (Upload and describe your package) there is a section where you can add a privacy policy. It is a step you need to do

WiFi Calling and Visual Voicemail (VVM) Windows Phone (or Windows 10 Mobile)

We are planning to change our business network for company mobiles from Vodafone, we all have SIM-Free/Unlocked Windows Phone devices (Lumia 930, Lumia 735 and etc...) all with latest updates which is currently Windows Phone Update 1 except for 735 which is on Update 2 now I believe. Only EE offers true seamless WiFi calling and is advertised for Lumia 640 which is because of the Windows Phone Update 2 we believe. Based on this information I have 3 questions:What are the requirements for WiFi Calling on Windows Phone (Windows 10 Mobile) devices?We are also interested in Visual Voicemail (VVM) which latest Windows Phone supports however EE only appears to mention iPhones and no other device, number of questions have been answered with no current support however surly if they can do iPhone they can also do Windows Phone therefore wanting to know if anyone has any further information on this?Will any of the above require EE's own firmware or will the SIM-Free/Unlocked version work with it? (Reason for asking is that O2's Visual Voicemail only works with their own version of the firmware)As much input on this matter would be much appreciated because as we're going to stay with Windows devices long term now and switch all other iPhones to them also, feel free to include more technical info if necessary

Welcome to the Community!
At the moment Wi-Fi Calling is only available on the Lumia 640 out of the Windows devices. WiFi Calling will not be available on any other existing devices, but as we launch new devices we will confirm if they support this service.
Wi-Fi Calling is also only available on devices purchased direct from EE with the exception of the iPhone. An iPhone would just need to have Carrier 19.1 or above.
As for Visual Voicemail it is only available on iPhones. I'm doing some digging to find out if it is something that will be launched on other devices in the near future. I will let you know as soon as I get any information.
Also you mentioned you would be a business customer. Wi-Fi Calling is only currently available to Personal and Small Business customers.

App update always show install on windows phone 8.1 but works perfectly on windows phone 8

I had recently added an app update and the app was showing install in windows phone 8.1 devices. Originally the previous version of the app was available in the phone. The app update that was published was showing as a install instead of update.
Windows phone 8 devices worked well although. Can you please explain why it is behaving differently on windows phone 8.1

I saw that article. The problem is CurrentAppSimulator does not resolve in my code. So even adding the needed .xml file does not help because I cannot call

I have a requirement for creating a app part which contains a list data view in office 365. Basically app part does not support dataview so i have started working with xslt data view inside a app part.

Hi, I have a problem that I am really stuck with, and I am novice to the task so any help would be extremely helpful.
I an trying to write to parallel port on my PC in order to send a trigger to EEG recording machine every time the new goal appears in a Virtual Reality game that I wrote in C++ (I want to record EEG brain signals while subjects are playing the game).

How to publish Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight app to Windows Phone store?

I created Windows Phone 8.1 Silverlight app, and I can't to upload it into WP store. I want to use Create
App Packages tool in Visual Studio 2013 Professional, but it's impossible for Silverlight apps. I read many guides
on dev.windows.com. It's necessary to upload only .appx, .appxbundleor .appxupload files,
but I have .xap file
only in Bin\ARM\Release folder.
May anyone help me?

Appx packages are only for Windows Runtime apps. Windows Phone Silverlight apps use xap files. The Windows Phone Store will accept either xap (for Silverlight) or appx (for Runtime) apps.

The WindowsAzure.Messaging.Managed nuget package version 0.1.7.6 does not support Windows Phone 8.1. Is there a package available to support Azure Notification Hub to push notifications to Windows Phone 8.1?

8.1 is not publically available. You can check with the Azure folks and ask them when there will be an update

Running an older Visual Studio app on Server 2012R2 can't connect to SQL Database

I have a database driven app written in Visual Studio 2005 or the release before.
It works fine on windows xp, 7x64, server 2008R2.
I installed on Server 2012R2, and it will not connect to the database. (which is a SqlServerExpress2014 database)

Please lookup in Windows Registry if you have a key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SQLOLEDB.1" and/or HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SQLOLEDB". If you have only SQLOLEDB, then remove .1 from the Connection string.
