App store unresponsive after "Back" gesture

App store becomes unresponsive after "Back" guesture with mouse or touchpad. After the back gesture window slides a little bit to the right and everything freezes. =(
Mavericks, macbook pro late 2011, magic mouse

I think this was an issue with graphics card. oO This lag was only with integrated video card. Fixed it by using discrete one (turn it on with gfxcardstatus). But I'm not sure.

  • My Iphone 4S keeps telling me to reset my password with the app store, and after I do, it still says it needs to be reset and won't let me sign in

My Iphone 4S asked me to reset my password for the app store, but after I reset it, it still asked me again as if it were invalid.  what to do?

Okay - tried that and it didn't work either. HOWEVER ...
I SEEM TO HAVE FOUND THE ISSUE! If this happens to anyone else, this might help you ...
A while back I had to set up a second apple ID in order to use the iCloud. So now I have two (annoying), and from what I'm reading on forums, this has happened to many people and you still can't merge accounts. But I digress.
Apparently the apps in question were purchased on one apple ID, but the phone had the other apple ID set within the app store. The store, it seems, will only update the apps if you're logged in as the account that initially purchased the apps. So it means going to Settings > Store > Log out, then log back in with the other ID. Annoying. But at least I know, now, what's going on.
The password, it seems, was right all along (since I have the same password for both IDs). Too bad the phone's error message told me the password was incorrect, instead of saying something more useful like "This apple ID is not authorized to update this app." Or ... something like that. Apparently I've been chasing down the wrong solution due to the wrong error message being given.

  • App Store broken after updates

    OSX 10.9.5, App Store Version 1.3 (201.7)
After updating some software, the App Store broke, looks like the CSS is not loading. Furthermore, "Some updates could not be installed automatically" - the App Store icon shows "1" in red circle, in it the Update part also shows "1", but clicking on Updates icon displays nothing.
I've sign out of App Store, and after than i cannot sign in back (connection failed).
Also, the suport page in safari looks broken too:
    Please advise

Following the updating of a number of iPad apps on my MacBook Pro today (April 18) I had EXACTLY the same problems occur as mzagor described in an earlier post. Everything seems identical in my screen displays to the screen shots shared by mzagor, with the addition in my case of the iTunes Store not loading and throwing up error message windows stating that,  "iTunes can't verify the identity of the server "init.itunes.apple.com". The certificate for this server is invalid. ..."   7 additional similar certificates follow as iTunes attempts to log in to other Apple servers.
I spent over an hour on the phone with an Apple tech, not knowing that others were having a similar issue as I. We almost got to the point of reinstalling Mavericks - but I balked at that. The well meaning tech suggested that this could be a hardware issue and that I should have the computer checked at an Apple Store (90 minutes away).
    HOWEVER!  on this same MacBook Pro, I can, using a DIFFERENT User login (which had been previously created) successfully log into;
    -  the iTunes Store,
    - the App Store, and get to
    - the Apple web site Support section through Safari,
without any issues or error messages and with the each of the screen displays showing up as they should. I can log into my Apple ID account without issue.
It would appear that there is a connection to the stated difficulties I am experiencing, with the act of updating apps using the App Store in Mavericks (v10.9.5)
Hopefully, the issue will be acknowledged and a solution will be found and shared quickly.

  • How do I get an older version of Pages to work on Snow Leopard? (I already purchased it on App Store a while back)

I purchased Pages on the App store a while back and I can't get it any more on my computer.
I have an early 2006 MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.8, which is the highest it would go to, and it isn't compatible with the new Pages version. How can I get an old version?
    Thanks

Just wanted to spare you the details. I bought the app on a newer MacBook Pro a few years ago, which I no longer use. I upgraded my old MacBook Pro to Snow Leopard so that I can have the App store. So, the situation now is that I can't have a higher version of Mac OS X, and the only available versions of Pages and Numbers on the App store are ones that are compatible with 10.9 or higher. Therefore, I am trying to find a way to access older versions that I can use...

  • HT203421 I have recently purchased some apps from the app store and after downloading them, the icon that appears in the dock changes to a different icon. It is now the same icon appearing on all newly downloaded apps.  Does anyone know what is happening

I have recently purchased some apps from the app store and after downloading them, the icon that appears in the dock changes to a different icon. It is now the same icon appearing on all newly downloaded apps.  Does anyone know what is happening here? Even updating an older game app resulted in the original game icon changing to the new identical icon that all new apps are appearing with.  This new icon is like a page with a ruler, pencil and paintbrush. Any tips on how to stop this or how to revert to the icon as it appears on the app store would be appreciated.

  • Error when installing Lion on empy HD: "Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded"

I've run in to a problem that is making me tear the hair from my head. I'm hoping for your help!
    Short story:
I'm trying to install OS X Lion on my 27" iMac.
I've erased the HD using Disc Tool in recovery.
    HD shows no errors.
I've tried Internet Recovery (it loads up, but wont start the installation)
I've tried creating a recovery usb on another similar iMac, and use it on this. Same error, only differance is it keeps "loading" when installing, but nothing happens. Same error in log.
When I try to start the Reinstall I get an error in the installation log that goes something like this:
Install Mac OS X Lion[354:9c03] Couldn't find app store version, falling back to hardcoded
Can not connect to /var/run/systemkeychaincheck.socket: No such file or directory
    Apple Care suggested:
    Trying another network (doesn't work).
Install with the original Snow Leopard DVD first, then upgrade (can't do that, the DVD is lost and a DVD from another friend is not working)
What can I do to get around this error?
Someone suggested buying a usb with Snow Leopard from the apple store. Do I really have to buy a NEW operating system because the recovery doesn't work? Would I have to pay to upgrade to Lion again?

Follow AppleCare's instructions on re-installing Snow Leopard and re-installing Lion. Your friends disc won't work because the discs are machine specific. You will have to get a replacement set of your original Install Discs from AppleCare for a nominal cost.

  • Google YouTube ad won't close in app store even after downloading

Google YouTube ad won't close in app store even after downloading -- this means I can't get to the store

    i have resolved the issue.
I had to close down the App Store, re-open it, and in the purchases tab the error disappeared and the option to resume the download was there again. However, I have spent the last 3 days opening and closing the program, restarting my computer. There is obviously a problem with this because there are other users who've had the same issue. Its frustrating because Apple has already taken my $20. I could have easily gone to a store to buy it if I could.

  • How to get a refund for app store purchases after 90 days

Is it possible to recieve a refund for App store purchases after 90 days have passed. In my case I purchased several apps by the same developer which cost around £10 in total, but due to a recent update they are now unusable and lead to frustration as they are impossible to use. The initial purchase was longer than 90 days ago, however the most recent update that has lead to the faulty item was probably within the last 90 days.
    many thanks.

Try starting up with your Snow Leopard DVD and see if the disk can be repaired. Once you are at the installer screen go to the Utilities Menu and choose Disk Utility and choose repair disk. You might also want to try Diskwarrior.
    Hope this helps.

  • App store problem after updating OS to Mavericks.  Ended up deleting app store.  How do I get it back?

I upgraded to Mavericks.  When I tried to update my apps in the appstore, I was getting prompted to enter in a password for someone else's Apple Id.  I have no idea who this person is and I could not change the ID.  I was logged into the App Store under MY id but for whatever reason when i chose to update an app, I was prompted with this person's ID. I researched this and someone in a forum suggested deleting the app and reinstalling it.  I have app zapper so I zapped the app and I no longer have an app store..  I also have no way of getting the app store back.  Apparently, it's part of Mavericks.  I cannot even reinstall Mavericks because Mavericks is only attainable through the App store.
    I have a big problem don't I?
I recovered the files that app zapper "zapped" from my trash.  They are as follows:
One "app store" folder that contains a file called: updatejournal.plist
One "AppStore" folder that contains a file called: manifest.plist
    And a file called com.apple.appstore.plist
How can I get app store working again?
And then there's the issue with this person's apple ID.  How do I get the app store to purge this person's login?  My machine is an Apple Refurbished so perhaps the person who is attached to the store is the person who bought the machine new?  I have no clue.  I do think it's a huge security flaw on Apple's part to expose a stranger's login information
    Help is immensely appreciated.
    Thanks.

There are a few things you need to do.
    A.
Remove "App Zapper" according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again.
    B.
Deleting system components is never the solution to any problem.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.
    C.
You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, the App Store may prompt you to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," but the hacked app may be something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you must carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
    1. Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    2. In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
    Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
    Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
    4. The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the Spotlight search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.
If you find these instructions confusing, ask for an alternative method.

  • My Apple Apps are unresponsive after installing Mavericks. iBooks, Maps, App Store, iCal, etc. will open, but freeze

After installing Mavericks, I found that my Apple Apps (iBooks, App Store, Maps, iCalendar, iBooks, etc) will open but freeze or are none responsive.  I have reinstalled Mavericks, did a recovery and reinstall, almost everything that I could find in other discussions.  They only thing that helped was the recovery, until I tried to reinstall Mavericks.  Someone please help.....

OS X Recovery does restore OS X meaning Mavericks.
Make sure there's enough storage space ...
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
You'll see Available and Capacity. Make sure there's at least 15% available disk space.
The startup disk may need repairing ...
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click:  Verify Disk  (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If DU reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in  OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important files first before using OS X Recovery.
OS X Recovery does require a broadband high speed internet connection.
