Append Structure for Table

Hi All,
I have added an append structure to a table in SE11. While adding the append structure i opened the table in display mode and added the append structure. I have also activated the append structure.
But in my transport request i can  only see the append structure and not the original table. Is it safe to transport such a request ?

Hello,
When you're APPEND'ing a table you're not modifying the original table.
You are linking the APPEND structure to the original table & the linkage is maintained in the APPEND structure(see the "Attributes" tab of the APPEND structure).
Yes, the original table gets activated & adjusted when you activate the APPEND structure but it won't ask you for a TR. Whenever the TR is imported to the subsequent system the original table will automatically get activated & adjusted.
Hope i'm clear. You can read the F1 documentation on APPEND structures for further info.

  • Getting Error in Append Structure for Standard

    Hi all,
Here i want to Append Structure in table RFPOS so i done all procedure . in this i have four field like ZZKUNNR , ZZNAMED , ZZLIFNR, ZZNAMEK. But when i active this structure this time i get error like
"Field name INDEX is reserved (Do not use structure as include in DB table)"
    and
"Field name ORDER is reserved (Do not use structure as include in DB table)"
BUT structure is activated . now i can see my change in fbl3n T-code so i get proper change in this.
But when i transport a request in Quality this time i am not getting same output which i get in Development .
And yes request is transported with warning (YELLOW SIGN). So is it possible for this warning i am not geeting my proper output in FBL3N.
    Please kindly help me out
    Thanks

    Hello,
Did you do anything else also that you might have missed to mention here?
For example, was your Append structure already present in the table RFPOS & you deleted some of the fields & inserted the new ones. In this case, you might have to activate the table from database utility (transaction SE14).
If this is an append structure & if it was pre-existing (not created by you), then this structure might already had been assigned to any other table. In such a case, system will not allow you to directly assign it to a different table. You may have to first assign it to an INCLUDE structure.
Also, as you described, it indicates that there might be some problem with the fields named INDEX & ORDER. Try checking for it.
May be you should check with your BASIS guy if the transport was successful & if not, the error description.
Also, try checking the quality system for your changes.
Hope that helps you in getting some direction.
Let me know if that work out for you or not.

  • How to find where the code for append structures for LIS extractors?

    Hi,
I found 4 append structures for extractor 2LIS_03_BF,
Out of 4 append structures, I found code for one, using where-used option. But in vain for other 3. Is it possible they didn't transport the code for remaining structures? how to find that?
    Cheers,
    Kannan N

    Kannan,
When ever you apply a logic to populate tdata for the appended filed then you will be writing some code in CMOD transaction code where you will find a ZXRSAU01
program, just double click on that then it will take you to the complete exit. Ther you can find with your data source name.
    Hope it helps...

  • Field in Append Structure for Generic Datasource

    Hi:
I created a Generic Datasource based on a view. After that, I created an Append to the Extraction Structure to include a field not originally on the view (and not related to any table in the view) to be calculated using customer exit in CMOD.
At the moment of activating the Datasource, this new field doesn't appear in the selection window but in RSA6 it shows there with options "Hide Field" and "Field only Known in Customer Exit" checked.
Again, I try to edit the Datasource but this field is not in the list to change those two checks.
    Any idea?
    Thanks.
    Luis Sales

    Dear Luis Sales,
I was having the same requirement. I tried it hard for removing the tick mark on the HIDE option. But it was not working at all.
    I tried these steps.
    1. From RSO2 went to Extract structure. Edit Mode-> append structure.
    2. Appended required fields and activated both append structure and extract structure.
    3. Back to datasource and Save it.
    4. Came out of transaction RSO2. ( latter Logged of system )
    5. after re login - RSA6 selected given Datasource and change. there I could change the selection of HIDE field. ( Even earlier I was not able to do that)
May be these steps help you out.

  • SPDD: Accept New Append Proposal for Tables?

What are the basic steps (if there are any) for validating whether or not to accept the SPDD proposal for appends to changed tables?
It seems like we accepted the proposal of the append. But we still do not see it in the table that it should have been implemented too?
    I am a first-timer for this operation.
         Thank-You

Now, when you use SPDD during and if you have accepted proposal then make sure that your user id should have development access. Also you need to activate appended structure and SAP standard table. I would suggest to use more SPAU operation even for data dict part. Also, one more thing ECC 60 has extra settings like this table can be enhance or not ? so if table set for can not be enhance then SADD wont work. You need to get access key for that table and change settings. Repeat whole process again.

  • Append Structure for Service Orders

    Dear Expert
I would like to add the "changed by" field in the General Data Tab of Service Order.
For that, I appended the following structures: CRMT_BSP_SRV_OIC_SRCHRES and CRMT_BSP_SRV_SEARCH with the cahnged_by field as defined in  CRMD_ORDERADM_H.
After that, I was able to add this field in the field group and generate the layout successfully. Now this field is displayed within PCUI but not populated.
    What is missing?
Thanks in advance for your help
    Best regards
    Stephanie

    Hi Stephanie,
You have to populate the field in the Model access class associated with the screen.

  • Rename an append structure ?

    Hello,
we are using an append structure for table MAKT. The name of the append structure is in Z namespace.
Now we need to use our own namespace because we want to sell our product.
So we need to rename the old Z append structure to a new name.
But is this possible without loseing data.
    What/How can we do it.
    Thanks

You can create an append structure in SE11. Load the table EKKO in display mode and than you find in the menu "Goto" the point "Append structure...". Here you can define the name of your append structure. The name should be in the customer name space. So maybe use the given name.
After this you can define your fields an save the structure.
Now you can use the new field with select statements or you can see the field in SE16.
But If you want to add fields to a "Custome data" tab in of PO header (Transaction ME21, ME22 & ME23 as well as ME21N, ME22N and ME23N) you have to use the given append structure CI_EKKODB.
Please read the documentation to the user exit "mm06e005" in transaction SMOD.

I have created the structure and i have Appended  to MARA table. Since then MARA Table is Partially  Active State. So, i tried to delete the structure. But i am unable to delete that Structure, because it was used in MARA Table. Even i tried SE14 Transaction also. Here i did Adjust and Activate table, But it is showing SHORT DUMP. Even if check the Error in SE11, it is showing "No inconvience found, but i activate the table again it is going to dump ".
    How to solve this .
My requirement is to bring back the MARA table into its origional state. and how to delete the Appended structure in MARA table ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
An APPEND structure is a DDIC structure that is assigned to a single DB table. In the ABAP dictionary (SE11) you call the corresponding DB table and create the APPEND structure for this table.
In which scenario do we create APPEND structures? Obviously, the attributes available in the DB table are not sufficient to meet your requirements. Thus, you append the missing fields to the table.

  • Appending structures to the tables

    Hi experts,
Why we are appending sturctures to the tables?
can any one tell me the main differences between the APPEND and INCLUDE structures
    in Datadictionary.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Ankita,
    Customizing Includes
A Customizing include is a structure that satisfies a special naming convention. The name of a Customizing include begins with u2018CI_u2019 and the include is in the customer namespace.
If enhancements are already planned in the R/3 standard using customer-specific fields, such Customizing includes are included. in the corresponding standard table or standard structure. The Customizing include (that is the definition of the structure itself) is usually first created in the customer system and filled with fields by special Customizing transactions.
Customers can thus enhance tables and structures of the R/3 standard system without themselves having to modify the table and structure definitions. This means that these enhancements will not be lost when upgrading. If a table or structure of the R/3 standard system is enhanced with customer fields using a Customizing include, these customer fields are automatically inserted in the new delivered table or structure definition during an upgrade.
If you create a Customizing include for a table or structure, only those enhancements are allowed that are consistent with the enhancement category of the enhanced table or structure. For more information, see Structure Enhancements.
Customers can but need not create a Customizing include and fill it with fields. If there is no Customizing include, there is no error message when the table or structure including it is activated.
A Customizing include can be contained in several tables or structures, so that they remain consistent when the include is modified.
    Append Structures
Append structures are used for enhancements that are not included in the standard. This includes special developments, country versions and adding customer fields to any tables or structures.
An append structure is a structure that is assigned to exactly one table or structure. There can be more than one append structure for a table or structure.
The following enhancements can be made to a table or structure TAB with an append structure:
    Insert new fields in TAB,
Define foreign keys for fields of TAB that already exist,
Attach search helps to fields of TAB that already exist,
These enhancements are part of the append structure, i.e. they must always be changed and transported with the append structure.
When a table or structure is activated, all the append structures of the table are searched and the fields of these append structures are added to the table or structure. Foreign keys and search help attachments added using the append structure are also added to the table. If an append structure is created or changed, the table or structure assigned to it is also adjusted to these changes when the append structure is activated.
Since the order of the fields in the ABAP Dictionary can differ from the order of the fields on the database, adding append structures or inserting fields in such append structures does not result in a table conversion.
The customer creates append structures in the customer namespace. The append structure is thus protected against overwriting during an upgrade. The fields in the append structure should also reside in the customer namespace, that is the field names should begin with ZZ or YY. This prevents name conflicts with fields inserted in the table by SAP.

  • Purpose of Append Structure in DDIC(SE11)

What is the purpose of Append Structure in DDIC(SE11)-Table?How to use this?
Title by: Alvaro Tejada Galindo on Jan 23, 2008 6:11 PM

Append structures are like user exits provided by SAP to enhance the Standard tables. It behaves like include structure only, but this append structure is taken care in the SAP version upgrage process, automatically. The name of append structure starts with 'Z' namespace..SAP by default proposes the append structure name with the table name prefixed with 'Z'.
It is always recommended to modiy or append the Standard tables using append structure.
It is the standard provided for SAP standard table enhancement.

  • EEWB - In BP, adding a new field regenerates append structure

    Hello,
After adding or deleting a field using EEWB, I have the following issues -
    1. The new append structure that was created for BUT000 gets regenerated
    2. Field labels get overwritten by field names
    3. The order in which the fields were seen on the screen gets altered
Is this a known behavior of EEWB?  How to alleviate this?
    Thanks!

    Thanks for your input Satish!
I searched using the application component suggested and the keyword and it was not very useful.
    Some more details -
I created some new fields using EEWB.  When you go to transaction BP, the standard tabs are displayed - ex - address, bank data, notes, etc.  But now there is a new tab - Customer Data that has my custom fields on it.
In the backend, SAP has created an extend structure for table BUT000 that has these fields in it.
When I go to this extend structure, my fields are there with a ZZ prefix - Ex: ZZFIELD1, ZZFIELD2, etc.  If you go to the details of these fields in data dict - transaction SE11, the Field labels - Short, Medium, Long and Heading are the same as the field names.  Ex: in the first case, the four field labels will be - ZZFIELD1.  I then changed the field labels to something meaningful - Ex: Renter name and rental date.  After generating the structure, these labels are then displayed on the Customer data tab.  So far so good.
However if I add a new field - ZZFIELD3, then all the label names that I had given (Ex: Renter name and rental date) get erased and replaced by the fieldnames again.
Also the order in which the fields were diplayed gets altered.  Ex: earlier the Customer data screen was showing - ZZFIELD1, ZZFIELD2.  Now it shows - ZZFIELD3, ZZFIELD2, ZZFIELD1.
I hope I have explained this issue.

  • Append Structures to SAP Structures

    Hi
I wish to add some custom structures(append structures) to the SAP standard strutures.
Can you please let me know what the precaustions we should have to take before and after the process.
If anyone explains me the complete procedure, that can be a great help.
    Regards,
    Sreeram Kumar.Madisetty

    Hi:
Append structures permit you to append customer fields to a SAP standard table without having to modify the table definition.
An append structure is a structure which is assigned to exactly one table. There can be several append structures for a table.
When a table is activated, all the active append structures for the table are found and their fields are appended to the table. If an append structure is created or changed, the table to which it is assigned is also activated and the changes also take effect there when it is activated.
Like all structures, an append structure defines a type that can be used in ABAP programs.
1 .Go in Se11, open the table in which you want to add the structure -> click on Append structure-> it would ask the structure, give it and then it would open enter the field list.
    2. Or create the structure 1st and do the rest step mentioned in step 1.
    For details

  • Difference between Append structure and include structure

hi can anyone tell me the difference between include structure and append structure with respect to tables defined in ABAP dictionary?
Also how to create them in ABAP dictionary?

    HI
    INCLUDE:
Includes are used to group fields and insert them together in a table or structure.
An include program has two main functions:
It contains code which can be used by several different programs.
It helps you to modularize programs, which consist of many different logically related parts. Each of these parts is stored as a separate include program.
Include programs improve the readability of programs and make maintenance easier.
Include reports contain rolled out parts of reports. They are called by the main report, and can only be run in conjunction with the main report.
    APPEND:
Append structures are used for enhancements that are not included in the standard. This includes special developments, country versions and adding customer fields to any tables or structures.
An append structure is a structure that is assigned to exactly one table or structure. There can be more than one append structure for a table or structure.

  • Difference between include structure and Append structure

    Could you please tell me
I have bsis table and it contains append structure  in 4.7 SAP System.
my program in 4.7 system contains internal table which used same structure of bsis table ( which contains additonal field in its append structure ).
I need to have same table structure in 4.6 C because I am copying the same program into 4.6 system.
As I could not append structure to bsis table in 4.6C SAP system,
instead of that shall I add the field or Shall include the structure to run .
What is the difference between Include structure and Append structure ( I forgot )
How to achieve this please help me ?

    Hi ,
As you know append structure can be used only once in table ,that to at last of all entries,
Append structures are used for enhancements that are not included in the standard.
The new versions of the standard tables are imported after an upgrade, and the fields, foreign key definitions and search help attachments contained in the append structures are added to the new standard tables at activation.
A standard table contains the fields Field 1, Field 2 and Field 3. An append structure containing the fields ZZA and ZZB is defined for this table. After activating the table, the corresponding database table contains fields Field 1, Field 2, Field 3, ZZA and ZZB.
    Further Remarks:
An append structure can only be assigned to exactly one table or structure. If you want to append the same fields to several tables or structures, you can store these fields in an include structure. In this case you must create an append structure for each of these tables or structures and include the include structure there.
Adding an append structure to an SAP standard table is supported by the  Modification Assistant.
If you want to insert a field that is to be delivered with the R/3 standard in the next Release in the customer system in advance, you must include it in the table itself as a repair. If you include such a field in an append structure for the table, it will occur twice when the new standard table is imported. This will result in an activation error.
No append structures may be added to tables with long fields (data types VARC, LCHR or LRAW). This is because a long field must always be the last field in the table. However, structures with long fields can be enhanced with append structures.
If a table or structure with an append structure is copied, the fields of the append structure become fields of the target table. Foreign key definitions and search help attachments appended with the append structure are copied to the target table.
Foreign keys for the appended fields must be defined within the append structure. Fields of the table or structure assigned to the append structure may be defined when assigning the key field and foreign key field.
Indexes on the appended fields must be defined in the original table.
A table or structure TAB can only be enhanced with new foreign keys or search help attachments using an append structure. You therefore cannot change an existing foreign key definition or search help attachment for a field of TAB with the append structure.
    Thanks
    Manju
