APPLE: FIX YOSEMITE WIFI PROBLEMS

Not really a question, just hoping that Apple is going to take this seriously. I spent days trying all sorts of things to prevent the Wifi from dropping a slowing down to a halt. First I had the instant random freeze problem, now this.
This is serious and Apple should respond to this! There are numerous users who experience this issue.

1. Its too bad apple dont monitor these forums, or maybe they do, but they just dont know how to fix the wifi issue that everyone is experiencing, and has been going on for a long time. Thanks for the feedback link, i have wrote a few of them in the past and im sure everyone else hv written feedback about wifi.
2. I use a router from isp and also tried airport express. I dont think its a router issue becoz i have used this same router for a year and on my macmini running mountain lion, wifi never drops. And when i travel, using macbookpro running mavericks, wifi drops, and surely its not an option to use an airport extreme when traveling or at a friends home...i mean we cannot replace routers everywhere we go, those cheap routers still work with other computers, even mountain lion. Its the expensive computers that needs improvements, but obviously the latest updates for mavericks made it like a crappy yosemite. One thing i notice is apple really improve their way of marketing their products, their advertisements are looking very nice now.
I think replacing routers is not a solution, the only solution right now is to switch off wifi and switching back on again and again, thanks to the sophisticated innovation from apples yosimite and latest mavericks. Today i have done that about 20x.

HOW TO FIX THE WIFI PROBLEM: Settings > Wifi > (little blue arrow) > scroll down to "Renew Lease" and then click on it.
    Enjoy

    Didn't work for me.
What did work was going to the Wifi network settings and setting the HTTP Proxy to Auto rather than Off.
Worked for both iphone4S and ipad2.

  • Just got back from the Apple store RE: wifi problems. No fix in sight.

I took my iPad into the Apple store this afternoon because of the wifi issues I've been having. The problem I'm having is that the connection frequently drops and I get a message that says "Incorrect Wifi Password". This has been happening a TON lately and is getting really annoying.
The genius at the Apple store tested my iPad on their network and couldn't replicate the problem. Therefore, he concluded that the iPad is not defective. He talked a lot about router technology and basically said that every other router and network other than what's at the Apple store is old technology, that's why it doesn't work. This is an unacceptable answer. He offered no fix or remedy for the problem.
I asked him if Apple is working on a remedy and he said they are NOT because there is NO PROBLEM.
Judging by what I've read on here and experienced, there IS A PROBLEM APPLE!
Since he was convinced that my device is functioning properly and also that Apple is not going to provide a fix or update to address the wifi issues, I asked about the return policy. He said I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A RESTOCKING FEE BECAUSE MY DEVICE IS NOT DEFECTIVE! <--- can you tell I'm yelling??!!
I asked him to help me understand how a device is not defective that can't function as intended on any network other than an Apple network. He said if my iPad works in the store, it's not defective and I'd have to pay the 10% restocking fee.
This is really really not what I expected from Apple, not at all. Since the Apple genius told me that Apple doesn't recognize that this is a problem, and that Apple is NOT working on a fix for it, I am going to return my device to Best Buy this afternoon.
I'm really not happy about this because I really love this device, but it's just not usable if it keeps dropping connections.
    I'm having a sad Friday.

Good heavens, I can understand why you're having a bad day - and in essence you are absolutely right, if your iPad doesn't work with your network and other devices do, then the iPad is the problem. After all, if you go to Starbucks, a hotel, airport, hotspots provided by cities or any vendors, you can't ask them to replace their routers if you can't connect. It's not your job to resolve infrastructure problems, but it is Apple's to ensure the device is compatible with the infrastructure which exists.
    However:
This is really really not what I expected from Apple, not at all. Since the Apple genius told me that Apple doesn't recognize that this is a problem, and that Apple is NOT working on a fix for it, I am going to return my device to Best Buy this afternoon.
I would urge you not to believe this genius speaks for Apple as an authority on the subject. Even if right at this moment, the more complaints, calls and returns they have for wifi faults, the more they will react to the problem, because they have no choice. What they generally won't do (based on past experience) is announce publicly that there is a problem, but it doesn't mean they are not collecting and reviewing data and researching potential solutions.
So, before you return your iPad - and might face the debate on restocking fees - call Apple and discuss the problem, if necessary escalating the call to the next tier up until you get someone who can help you work through it, or arrange for a timely replacement, or a return without you having to face a penalty. Apple are typically very good in customer service, as the surveys show, but that isn't always the case in the early stages of a fault where the issues are not yet clear.
    Good luck!

  • Is apple EVER going to fix the Wifi problem on phones AND iPads?

I keep seeing all these new updates for stuff on ios7...and yet THEY STILL HAVE NOT FIXED THE WIFI CONNECTION PROBLEM ON PHONES AND IPADS!

This is a real hardware problem triggered by the installation of iOS 7. A representative in the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo, admitted this to me today. The WiFi and Bluetooth chip on my iPhone 4s have been damaged either during the installation process itself, or by using the system after installation. However despite the fact that Apple Japan representative admitted that the company is at fault, they would not agree to fix or replace the phone at their cost. What terrible customer service!

  • Why won't Apple fix the wifi connectivity problem with the iMac and new OS instead of just havin us go through hours of useless mock fixes!

I have spent hours with apple care about this problem with wifi connectivity.  According to all the posts I'm not alone.  I love my new IMAC
but i'll be glad to go back to my PC just so I can get my email without all the headaches.  It seems that Apple has lost interest in
the IMAC and all of the problems associated with the new OS.

Keep in mind that ASC is where people go to get help, so yes, you are seeing reports of people who are having WiFi connection issues. But while it might seem like there are lots of people having trouble, given the sheer number of iMacs in use, it is a very small number. Also keep in mind that WiFi isn't totally under Apple's control. There are dozens of WiFi routers. Even worse, the manufacturers of WiFi routers often release firmware upgrades to fix flaws without ever informing the consumer. And just to add to the confusion, while WiFi 801.2 n routers have been sold for several years, for most of that time there was no agreed upon standard!
So if you'd like help, first, what router do you have and have you checked the vendor site to see that it has the latest firmware?

  • New update (iOS 6.0.2) did absolutely nothing to fix the wifi problem, can I do it any other way than switching to WEP?

Yet again Apple says the next update will fix a certain problem and it does absolutely nothing. Not surprising.

Usual Apple updates. Have you tried resetting the network settings?
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Also restart your router and play around with your phone.

  • When will apple fix the bending problem with iPhone 6 and 6 ?

Does anybody know when new batches of the iphone 6 and 6 plus ,without the bending problem (bendgate), will be released ? I wanted to buy the iphone 6 but id rather wait till they fix the bending problem.

I would like to calmly and rationally talk for a moment. On the internet and with people so invested in a company's products that can be hard to do. I find it very irritating reading people saying it is a hoax while I'm sitting here with a bent plus myself. First off, most people don't take major mainstream news companies seriously anymore. So CNNMoney isn't where anyone needs to be researching. However there are multiple other people who demonstrate this problem. So check YouTube and remember you'll find what you search for. So, if you search for iPhone 6 plus doesn't bend you'll find videos of people trying to prove it doesn't bend. It is getting ridiculous, XBOX VS PLAYSTATION, Creationists vs Evolutionists, iPhone vs Android. Seriously, I have a friend with an HTC One M8 and another friend who just got the regular iPhone 6. I told the guys about the reasoning behind the bend. "All aluminum bodied phones do it" my iPhone friends says yep that's true and my HTC friend comes over and asks me to bend his phone. I said no at first because i was afraid i might actually break it... He never put a case on his phone btw... He talked me into it and I couldn't bend it at my full force i barely saw it arch. After much more research I found out why that might be. THE ONE THING APPLE KEEPS PUTTING OFF. The screen on high end Android devices is Gorilla glass very hard to break and hard to bend. Maybe it is time I go back to Android. Logically they have better phones when you don't think about if its Apple or Android. Well I am sure I will get hate messages and grammer corrections and really intelligent comebacks but I don't care honestly.

Prove you have a bent Plus.  Post a picture, but be advised, I work for a technology company and if you post a picture of a bent phone that can be easily found through Google, I'll report you.

  • HT202157 Does 5.1.2 fix the wifi problem for ATV3

Does the 5.1.2 update correct the wifi problems introduced by the previous update?. My ATV3 had stopped seeing my wifi and only worked on ethernet.

It means that your router isn't in their database yet, and I'm not sure how you can get it added - it used to be held by a third-party and you could send requests to them, but since they brought it in-house I'm not use how it's done

  • Why have apple not released and update to fix the wifi problems

I have a ipad mini all was working fine untill apple released the update to OS6 now we are in OS7 and still no fix?
now i have tried ALL off the work rounds that have been postedand they do NOT work.
in order to get the mini to conect to any network it needs to be sat on top of the router this isnt just my router this is all routers im on virgin tryed with BT and Sky and mcdonalds, costa, starbucks ect ect...
I feel ripped off a wifi tablet with no working wifi is crap. A very expensive glass coaster
WHY HAVE YOU NOT FIXED THIS ???????

This is a user-to-user forum. Apple doesn't live here (except checking every so often to enforce the TOU). You can rant, rave and vent all you want, won't change a thing and may get you canned.
This is your specific Wi-Fi problem. Most users have had no issues. My two iGadgets have gone from 6.0.1 to 7.0.4 with all the intermediates with no problem. Same for all my colleagues Minis, Maxis and other gadgets. Which leads to...

  • Yosemite wifi problem

ever since i downloaded yosemite, my wifi disconnects, shows no wifi downloaded. How can i fix the problem

There are numerous posts here in the Apple Support Communities about Yosemite and Wi-Fi. At this point in time there is no known permanent solution. Sorry!

  • I am very unhappy with Apple response to wifi problem.  Has anyone had a positive response?

The wifi function has stopped working on my 4S.  I see this is a common problem that was caused by Apple with the 7 software.  Has anyone gotten satisfaction from apple?

Have spent 1 month trying to get a resolution to this problem and Apple seem to be behaving in a profoundly unprofessional manner. My own phone (14 month old – so outwith warranty) failed the day of the update to IOS 7.0.4 and on checking with a techie colleague discovered his had failed as well. I'm assuming the new software is overdriving the Wi-Fi chip which then overheats causing solder-joint degradation. The only fix is for the chip to be re-attached by very sophisticated SMT flow-solder technology - a bit beyond a "man with a blowlamp".
Apple should NOT be responding with an audible note of surprise when you phone support with your problem when the forums are inundated with countless examples of a problem which has obviously been caused by an IOS upgrade which it would appear is inappropriate for their current iPhone models.
I was hoping for a “special upgrade or replacement offer” for victims of this problem – but cannot wait any longer, so have reluctantly opted for a Mail-In Exchange/Repair. A recent convert to Apple products – 2 Write-Off phones in three years is getting seriously expensive for me! If Apple don’t respond more positively this will I fear get seriously expensive for them too!

  • Beware the Security Update - How I fixed my WIFI problem and a question

First of all I have read the "Latest Update from 21 January is A Disaster" thread and I basically agree with Andrew is Stuck so please don't feel the need repeat any of the stuff about it is not a bug in the update etc etc and I should have a Super Duper clone to hand etc etc . I have read that stuff. You are probably right but they should write on the Security Update info panel - "Be Careful this could really ruin your day".
I am ****** off and stressed out and I need to rant and I am not looking for that kind of lecture - even if it is partially or wholly true. I need to feel positive by warning people the way I wish I had been warned!
NB I am near the end of a professional dance tour as Musical Director running music on Logic on my MBP and it has been working fantastic - not a single glitch in 6 weeks. I would never upgrade my OS or Logic in the middle of job like this BUT Security Updates have always seem like something you should install because they will protect the Mac or protect against any new viruses etc. I have never had a problem with them before. (THAT ATTITUDE WILL NOW CHANGE!!!)
This update has caused a lot of people a lot of problems (check out this forum) and it has caused me more real world problems than anything I have downloaded and installed from anywhere in the last 3 years. Thus it has nothing to do with Security!!! HOw any people does a Security Uodate have to goose before it becomes an unsatisfactory Security Update?
This security update suddenly stopped my WIFI working and put me in a real hole.
(I am sure you don't care but I have a meeting tomorrow morning that I needed to do 3 hours of prep for including looking at VIDEO online. And the Security Update has just put paid to that. )
After 3 hours I have just got WIfi back- here's how:
I repaired permissions twice with Disk Utility - no joy. I found I could get online when I booted in Safe Mode (and I could get online with my Iphone on the same WIFi setup) so I knew it was not the router - though I did switch the router on and off a few times,
When I initially ran Repair permissions there was loads of things needing repair. I ran it again and 2 remained:
usr/share/derby it keeps trying to repair
and one of the package contents of the ARDAgent.app (System>Library>CoreServices>RemoteManagement>ARDAgent.app>Contents>MacOS>ARDAg ent) had a warning attached that it in the Disk Utility Repair Permissions report that it had been modified.
So I restored ARDAgent.app from a Time Machine Back up and replaced the offending file when in Safe Mode (Restart with Shift held down). - using Ctrl Click to open the ARDAgent.app package contents.
This seemed to sort it all out for me.
I guess people need to look in their Disk Utility Repair Permissions reports and see if any esoteric system files have been goosed by the update and see if they can get them back - although if you don't know what you are doing this could make things worse......
    Anyway I DO have questions:
    If this hadn't of worked:
    1) Would reinstalling Snow Leopard from disks have upset my preferences, installs of Logic and Audio drivers and 3rd party application installs and the rest?
    - the main stressor when this happens is not trying to lose the whole day.
    2) Is there a way of just restoring the System from a Time Machine Backup or a SuperDuper clone or do you have to restore the whole state of the entire Hard Drive?
    Best

PS I feel better now. Thanks for listening.

The fact that you saw no glitches while running Logic before applying the update means almost nothing because that uses only a small subset of system resources. Far more significant is that Safe Mode restored some missing functionality: because it disables non-essential items like user fonts, third party drivers, & so on, it points to problems in those areas.
Equally significant, the fact that there are relatively few reports of post-update problems among the several million Snow Leopard users points away from the update itself as the cause of your problems.
Separate & apart from that, it so happens that I'm a sound engineer/system designer/board operator with nearly 40 years of professional touring experience. FWIW, I never have & never will update the software of any system I must rely on professionally (whether it is running on a Mac, a PC, or dedicated hardware) unless & until I can thoroughly test it first and I have a trustworthy backup/recursion strategy to fall back on in case of problems.
I strongly suggest you learn from your unpleasant experience & do the same. I have had far fewer problems with Macs than with PC's, but nothing is 100% reliable to begin with. Changing the OS software part way through the tour is just asking for trouble, no matter how reliable that has been in the past. Even if the budget allows for nothing better than a stack of burned CD's & a couple of consumer grade CD players, no professional tour can afford to be without some fallback strategy in place. That should be self-evident & require no warning from Apple or anybody else.

  • When will apple fix ios8.02 problems?

My iPhone 5s Bluetooth does not work with my bmw. Auto dealer told me several clients with iPhones have same problem.  Firmware for connecting to verizon cell towers flawed causing callers to hear 4-5 rings before my phone rings one time.  This is what verizon told me.  My iPad Air screen rotation no longer works properly. Programs don't rotate all the time.   Screen sensitivity touch seems off.  Several web sites don't respond when I touch links to connect.  Apple prides itself as being customer oriented and different then other firms.  They need to communicate when an update will be released to fix all the iOS 8.02 problems.  They owe this to their loyal customers or risk a backlash

this is a user helping user forum I have no idea what apples plans are
as you would likely imagine these forums has a lot of questions where users explain to eachother
how to perform their tasks and the likes
this makes this one of the worst places in the world to write if you expect apple to read your question with all the noise created by the support users between
if you wish to complain or contact apple you can use the feedback channel or some of the other ways in contact apple in the bottom of the browser page
    feedback is this way

  • I fixed my WiFi problem.

I used to get WiFi in my office but after updating a while back to 2.1, it was spotty. The server would show up but drop after a few seconds. I just thought maybe they did something at work that made my reception bad and didn't think much of it. At home, and at other locations, WiFi worked fine. Well today I wanted to download an app but got the message that I needed WiFi to do so. I found out that others in my office had strong WiFi connections and I didn't. I tried rebooting, restarting, forgetting server, all to no avail. Then I reset all phone settings under general>reset>reset all settings. Boom! That did the trick! Plus my phone seems more responsive. I had to redo all of my settings like sounds and icon placement, but not a big deal.

  • When will apple fix the bluetooth problem

Bluetooth Device Detection worked fine until the Ios 5 updates, now no-one seems to be able to detect devices...
i have also noticed now and then I have to restart my phone to connect to my wireless lan when I come into the house, whihc never hapened until these updates.
No infromation I have seen when a fix will be coming out or even recogntion that the updates messed things up...
Nice support Apple for all your loyal customers...

what on earth are you talking about?
Neither I nor anyone I know has had problems with bluetooth since updating iPhones to iOS 5.
I would wager in your case that it's user error.  Replace User and problem will be solved.
