Apple TV freezes on screenlock when streaming Internet TV via iPhone 4. Difference in IOS5 vs IOS6?

Hello everybody!
I have an iPhone 4, upgraded to IOS 6.0.1 and a newly bought Apple TV with upgraded software. My iPhone 4 worksperfectly with the Apple TV with one exception: Streaming of Internet TV to Apple TV freezes when the iPhone is Auto-locked. As my iPhone is configured for business use, it is not possible to configure it to disable auto-lock, and as the longest auto-lock time is 5 minutes, watching TV is pretty annoying ....
The strange thing, however, is that a friend of mine also has an iPhone 4, assumingly with the same business configuration, where the streaming of Internet TV continues (video and sound) also after the iPhone goes into auto-lock. In addition, he strongly claims that streaming Internet TV does not affect the battery consumption of the iPhone at all, indicating that the streaming does not physically goes through the iPhone, but directly from the router of the network to which the iPhone is connected (i.e. the streaming is only initiated by the iPhone, not relayed).
Does this make any sense to you? Is this an IOS 5 vs. IOS 6 issue? How do I get uninterrupted Internet TV streaming from my iPhone? If relevant, I have a DLink DIR-655 router.
In advance, thanks for all help.

OK.  I turned all devices off, including router, then turned everything back on.  I also did a RESET and a RESTORE on my Apple TV, but still have the same problem.  I put my MacBook Pro right next to my Apple TV, and iStumber indicates I have a good wifi signal.  Any suggestions on what to check next?  Thx

  • My apple Tv has audio problems when streaming from my NAS server.

My Apple TV has audio problems when streaming from my NAS server or computer and even internet. I can hear the click sound it makes when you click on the icons, but when the movie starts there is no audio. This even happens when using XBMC. I have HMDI directly to my TV suing Apple TV 2. I have tried resetting, turning off both TV and Apple TV, and changing the HDMI cable. It is driving me nuts.

this issue just arose over the last month or so and no changes have been made to my bandwidth.
    Except for the following possibiblites:
Your bandwidth might be being throttled by your internet provider.
Your internet may have a fault.
Perhaps your Wi-Fi security has been breached by someone nearby.
Perhaps the other services (Grooveshark and Spotify) use a lower bandwith (I don't know).
For numbers 1 & 2, try a speed check to see if your internet connection is as fast as it's supposed to be.
For number 3, change your password to your Wi-Fi.
For number 4, check the Bit Rate of each stream.
On the other hand, if this new information that you added is fact ( it actually occurs if I even listen to music from my iTunes library, not just internet radio ), then perhaps iTunes is at fault and the best fix may be to repair iTunes.
To repair iTunes, download the iTunes installer and when you run it, use the Repair option.

  • When streaming video on my iPhone 4s with OS 7.1

When streaming video on my iPhone 4s with OS 7.1 the sound is fine but the video is like watching a slide show.  What's causing this?

Thank you but I got that figured out. The issues is in that the text from incoming Emails are so small  it is difficult to read. If you increase the font size using what you suggested, incoming is easier to read but when you compose a new email it is like getting far fewer words on the screen because the text is so large.
Something changed in the new version of the operating system!

  • Apple TV freeze then reboot when flipping through music

    Hi,
I have an issue where my Apple TV freezes and then reboots when I flip thorugh the music files. The music is playing and I switch to the next song but it seems that if do this too fast repeatedly the unit feeezes and then reboots. It varies how many times I have to switch the song but approximately 10 times before it happens.
It only started happening after the newest update.

I'm having a similar problem. I stream my music collection from my computer hooked up to an external hard drive. For the last few days, apple tv freezes right after I choose "Shared Music". After some time it reboots ... but now I can't play music AT ALL! I have a very large music library and amusing the newest update too.

  • Apple TV blurry black screen when streaming from iMac?

My Apple TV shows a black blurry screen when trying to stream from my 2013 iMac.  ATV works perfectly with iPad/iPhone but not iMac.  Audio from iMac is fine, just no video.  Both products are entirely up to date as far as software goes and restarting both + wifi hasn't achieved any results.  Any **** would be appreciated, thanks.

I've found out it is an Mavericks 10.9.2 and 10.9.3 failure! Online I have found more people with the very same Problem, and all of them are running 10.9.2/3  - ON THEIR IMACS (different Models)!
My Apple TV and Streaming Services were functioning just fine 2-3 Monts ago, the only thing that changed was Updating my iMac Mid 2011 to 10.9.2 -> Then i've got the black screen when streaming, could not activate DisplayMirroring, when i played something in itunes or VLC the sound went through AppleTV but no video.
Then have checked it with iPad 2 = OK, iPhone 5 = OK, MBP Early 2008 with SnowLeopard = OK,
so i decided to Install an 10.9 on an external drive - and guess what? It works! Tried to Update (ComboUpdate) to 10.9.1 and it was still OK, got the BLACK SCREEN after ComboUpdate 10.9.2, and tried to Install 10.9.3 just to see if it will solve the problem -> NOT
    this must be a joke!

  • Apple tv freezes for milliseconds when I stream a movie.

    Hi all,
I have bought an streaming package from the internet for some turkish football.
When I am streaming this from my macbook air to my apple tv 3th generation (also updated to 5.1) it freezes for milliseconds and it keeps going on.
Downgraden is not an option cause I had the problem there also. If i connect it trough an HDMI cable directly to my tv, it works great.
Does anyone having the same problem?

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • Apple TV freezes during iTunes movie stream.

Since the last update of IOS in my Apple TV it`s not playing iTunes movies from my MacBook Air.
The movie frame freezes in my TV screen and it seems like it`s buffering the stream from my Mac. Does anyone has a solution?
    Thnaks

Do you mean pausing to rebuffer and then resuming by itself? Or does it stop playing entirely until you do something to restart it?
We didn't have any problems with Netflix rebuffering this evening. However, HD content seemed much more likely to "pixelate" while we were watching it than it ever has before. I updated our ATV2 to the latest firmware today before we starting watching Netflix this evening. Don't know if it's related or if it's just a coincidence.

  • Mac book air freezes at times when on internet

I purchased the mac book air 2 months ago. In the beginning it worked great but lately it will freeze when on the internet. Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Safari regularly freezes then quits when streaming Netflix

With great regularity, when I stream a Netflix movie using Safari, in full screen mode, I'll get pauses of a few seconds after 45 minutes or so. The pauses get more severe (longer, like 5 seconds) until Safari quits. Then I restart it and watch the rest of the movie OK.
iMac, 10.6.3, versions up to date.
    Thoughts?

Try another browser and see if the behavior persists.

  • Apple TV2 error code 144 when streaming Netflix movies

    Hi,
I'm new to the community and haven't quite figured out, how to search for the right discussions, so if anyone knows where to find the discussion, solving my problem, please let me know!
    Here's my problem:
I have an AppleTV2, which I bought in the Netherlands. I recently moved to Canada and used it here without problems. I got a Netflix account and watched movies until 2 days ago, when the error code 144 occured, when pressing play on any movie.
In detail, the error massage says:
"A problem occurred while playing this item. Try again later, or select a different item. Go to netflix.com/support for more information. (144)"
So I first waited a day, but it didn't work. Then I went to netflix.com/support to search for the error code, but it's not registed. I also called the Netflix hotline, but they said they don't know that code and I should call Apple. Unfortunately, Apple wants to have 29 dollar to help me. Well, NO! So now I'm here and hope sombody knows what to do.
Thanks a lot for your help!
    Best regards
    tddk

Have you tried rebooting the AppleTV? Press and hold the Menu and Down buttons until the status light on the AppleTV blinks rapidly. Once the main menu reappears it'll take a little longer for the AppleTV to respond to the remote (still rebooting).
This isn't guaranteed to solve the problem but it often does.

  • Error message when streaming BBC iPlayer via iPad

I'm using ATV (v7.0.3) to view BBC iPlayer (v 4.5.0.64) content via an iPad Mini Retina 2 (IOS 8.1.3) so everything is up to date.
I can watch programmes directly on the iPad from BBC iPlayer either by streaming or downloading. Both work OK.
When I try to watch streamed content via Apple TV via Airplay, I get a message "An error occurred loading this content. Try again later." Every time. If I mirror, the quality is very pixelated, juddery and keeps stopping, so is really unwatchable.
I can successfully download programmes to the iPad but when I watch via ATV, it just keeps stopping, showing the spinning disk. I have to go back and start it playing again. Sometimes it stops every few minutes, sometimes it will play for longer, but it is very frustrating.
We have watched TV programmes Airplayed from other apps, including Netflix app, with no problems. We watch Netflix and Youtube direct on ATV which works flawlessly.
We do use a VPN service (for BBC iPlayer and for Netflix) but that shouldn't really affect anything.
I can't understand why it plays perfectly on the iPad but not on ATV. Any ideas please? I see that this question has been addressed before but never adequately answered, and not in the last year.
    Thanks.

Of course it will, using anything other than what is supplied by your ISP is going to introduce streaming issues

  • Computer tend to freeze when accessing internet with D-Link dir-655 router

I recently bought a D-Link dir-655 router and since then my computer tend to freeze up completely when accessing internet. This also happens when certain programs access internet. Otherwise I am usually using Internet Explorer or Opera.
I've found that there are many who experience problems with D-Link router, that they may have problems with certain network card. Anyone who can say if this is a known issues and if it there is a solution or if it is better to buy another router?

    Hi, Ernst:
Would you consider backing up your files and doing a system recovery?
Maybe the OS has some corrupt registry files or something.
If you recover and then it still does that, your only choice looking at the motherboard is a PCIe gigabit ethernet adapter which would be relatively easy to install, or you could even get a USB ethernet adapter and not even have to open the case.
See if there is a setting to disable the onboard NIC if you have to add a network card.
I would rule out all software problems before buying hardware.
If you want to try some other malware program, I recommend the free Kapersky rescue disk. You burn the file to a CD and boot from it.  It scans the drive and deletes any malware or virus files it finds without the PC being in windows. A lot of times viruses and malware can't be removed when windows is running.
Link to the download and instuctions for use is below. I like to use the graphic interface rather than the text interface.

  • Internet radio via apple tv

is it possible to stream internet radio via apple tv?

I subscribe to Live365 internet radio (thousands of stations) and it plays through my Apple TV which is connected to my receiver to play through my surround sound system.  It works great, however, when I select my radio station in Live365, it downloads into my download folder.  You then have to click open the download which opens in iTunes. Make sure your speaker designation in iTunes is Apple TV.

  • Video Playback Pauses when streaming from iTunes to itunes

    Hi,
I have a 2011 iMac running OS X Mavericks Server and I use this as my main iTunes library computer.  I also have a 2013 (latest model) MacBook Air running Mavericks.  My WiFi network comprises of 2x Airport Express's, both the latest models and configured for both 2.4ghz & 5ghz frequencies.
Using Home Sharing, I like to stream video from my iMac's iTunes library to my MacBook Air.  The problem is that playback pauses every few minutes.  The only way to resume playback is to close the video window and open the video again.  This problem occurs regardless of video quality (SD, 720 or 1080) and on both the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz wifi settings...  On the odd occasion this problem doesn't happen at all.
I experienced this problem before upgrading to mavericks so I don't think its mavericks related.  And I don't experience this playback issue when streaming to ipad mini, iphone, or apple tv... It only happens when streaming from imac to macbook air...
Please help if you have a solution.

    Try:
ffmpeg -i rtsp://localhost:8554/test.sdp -acodec copy -vcodec copy -re -f flv "rtmp://168.187.121.71/livepkgr/mystream&adbe-live-event=liveevent"
I don't strream ffpmeg from my source, but I stream h264 from my source, and this works when transcoding.
    Hope this helps!
