AppleScript Syntax for New Device allert

When I mount a certain external device,an external usb drive (let's call it "ext.Drive") for instance, I want an allert to be displayed in the Finder.
But only if this device is mounted.
If not possible just an allert as soon as any new external device is mounted.
What would the AppleScript Syntax be?

How can I turn off that Maveriks at iMac is scanning continuously for new devices?

Hi, I have a iMac (early 2008) updatet to 10.9 Maveriks with Bluetooth mouse, mousepad en keyboard. I listen at home to music with a Onkyo TX-NR626 A/V receiver (with Bluetooth) via my iMac, iPad and android device.
When I startup or wake up my iMac, Maveriks is always staring to scan for new Bluetooth devices?!. Than every time, my receiver (also when the receiver is turned off) is turning on and change to Bluetooth mode.
I can't turn off the Bluetooth function at my Onkyo TX-NR626 A/V receiver. With Mountain Lion, I didn't had this problems.
I want to turn of the continuously scanning procedure after startup or wake up on my iMac.
My question is:
How can I turn off that Maveriks is scanning continuously for new devices?
How can I turn off the detection mode of my iMac?

At the very end of the article, it mentions the "bug" that only one app on Windows can play direct sound at a time. That's exactly the "feature" I'm looking for on the Mac. Funny how one person's bug is another's feature.

Why is IWork only free for new devices?

Will it ever be available on the App Store for free? Or do I have to buy a new device to get IWork? I really need these apps for school and I don't want to buy them if they are going to be free.

These apps are free for new devices. If you already have the iPad, you have to purchase them. They are not very expensive, so you can purchase iTunes gift cards and use them to purchase the applications. There's no other solution, apart from buying a new iPad

Disable scanning for new devices?

Another new user question: Is there a way to disable the automatic scanning for new devices in Logic Pro 9? At the moment, my system is connected to a KVM (w/USB) switch, and every time I switch to the system running logic, it asks me if I want to use my USB headset, which is on the KVM switch, as an audio device (I don't). It would be nice if I could turn off that function and scan manually when I add a device that I want to use with Logic. Thanks...

Not yet. This is a new feature we added in December to demonstrate during registration that the Service Request automation is working.
While these Demo Service Requests are real Service Requests, they are held in a special queue and not routed to TAC engineers. Smart Call Home will automatically close every Demo Service Request after a short time.
In the next release, we plan to implement a toggle in the Smart Call Home portal so that you can control this feature.
Feel free to continue registering devices. Demo SRs are just an additional validation that everything is working. They shouldn't create any additional work for you or for TAC.

Bluetoothe keeps searching for new devices

Hi everyone,
I have a BT connected problem with my Iphone 4S. In contrast to many here, I can connect with my headset (Jawbone) fine and my phone sees pretty much anything. However, once I activate BT, it will keep searching for new devices all the time and this eats the batter up pretty fast (by mid-day it is 50% gone, without my doing much, except for a few calls using my headset). Does anybody know how can BT stopped from looking for new devices unless directed to do so?

Free iWork & iLife for new device?

I activated the new device iPhone 5C, and as promised by Apple want to download the free apps iWork & iLife. But I see only the possibility to download for $ 9.99. Help me please.

I figured out that now you can download them for free just by contacting iTunes Store Support and requesting redeem codes for apps made by Apple.

IWork for new devices on iOS7 for free - IT WORKS :)

1. You go to AppStore -> Purchased
2. In Search box write "iWork" - and turns out that all iWork is for free - in Purchased section

I had the same problem... missing free iWork apps. I contacted Apple though the support website, opened a case... within 24 hours, I had a reply asking for my device serial number - and like magic, I can now download them for free.
Apple is very nice about it, I think they just need to reset a flag on existing customers who bought new devices = then they are free.

Should I create a new Apple ID for new device?

Hi, I just got a iPod Touch and I also own a iPhone. Should I create a new Apple ID for the iPod Touch or share with the existing one for the iPhone?

As content is tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it, you are better off using the same account for all your devices - you can put content from the one account on multiple devices. You don't really gain anything by having multiple accounts, if anything it makes things worse e.g. having to remember two account ids and passwords.

NE2 upgrade disappointing. Can I use NE2 upgrade/discount again to exchange for new device?

I just used my New Every Two ("NE2") to upgrade from a Blackberry to the Droid Incredible 2. But frankly, the more I use the Droid, I more I don't like it. It's especially annoying when the battery drains after only an hour on standby. I need reliability, and this isn't it. Plus, it's loaded with apps I have no use for and can't get rid of. It's been a hell of a disappointment honestly since I so wanted to give the Droid a chance over the iPhone (reason being is that I already own several Apple devices including the iPod Touch (4th gen.) and the iPad 2 (WiFi + 3G).
I'd like to get the iPhone 4 instead. So here's my question: If I return my Droid within the 14 days (tomorrow is the 14th day, btw), will I get my NE2 opportunity back in order to apply it to the iPhone 4? I am not a new customer. I've been a loyal one for years, but somehow I think that wouldn't help in this matter.

Make SURE you return it within the 14 day window. You will have to pay a $35 restocking fee so don't be surprised when they charge you for that. But yes, this can be done easily. Just take it back to the store you got it at.

Wish list for new devices

Smaller phones!
Keep waiting and waiting for smaller phones but all I see are phones that are getting bigger - same with Passport.
I have a 2009 Blackberry Bold 9700 and refuse to let go of it. Need a sturdy, quality device that is sleek, small (no bigger than what I have) and has a hard keypad. I know there was a Curve or other phone circa 2011 that was smaller but that was cheaper quality and had poor battery life.
Phablets are for kids and seniors; not interested in turtlenecks or robots. Real adult here requiring adult phone.

Concerning the upcoming Blackberry Classic, I notice on the buttons the $ (dollar) karakter,
I hope that the Blackberry Classic phones which will be sold in mainland Europe will have the € (euro) sign and

Cannot get iWorks for free, for new device

I bought a new iPad mini with retina display. I logged in to App store and I didn't download iWorks for free at that time. Later when I logged in to iTunes again, it indicated I need to pay instead of free. How can i get it back for free?

I am setting up my new iPad mini and did not put in a password. The screen timed out and it's asking me for a pass code. I didn't set one up. Is there a standard passcode for new devices?

HT4859 Can I restore an individual app from iCloud when a corrupt app needs to be reinstalled? Or is restore only for new devices?

Can I restore an individual app from iCloud backup? I need to reinstall a corrupt app on an existing iPod device and need to restore the associated data. App in question is Ultimate Password Manager. Can no longer unlock the safe and there doesn't seem to be a way to reset the master password.

You can only restore the whole device from backup, you can't restore individual items.

I believe that TM uses a different file structure then ordinary finder files and folders. You cannot drag and drop or delete without problems. You will need to start TM again from scratch on your new drive. This is not a real problem as long as your computer is up to date. Using TM to archive files that are not presently on your computer does not work, so there is no need to retain the TM history.

Using AppleScript to click menu items without access for assistive devices?

Hi all,
Is it possible to have AppleScript 'click' menu items without having 'Enable access for assistive devices' enabled?
My script works fine with it on but with it off I just get this:
'System Events got an error: Access for assistive devices is disabled.'
Pretty clear and easy to fix. I don't really want assistive devices enabled, though ...
Any ideas or is this just not possible?
Sorry if this is a n00b question - I'm kinda new to the world of Mac and OS X ...

I've figured out how to set the bounds of the window I'm talking about:
tell application "Transmit" to set bounds of window "Transcript" to {61, 1166, 2559, 1421}
I'll have a hack and see if I can figure out how to open the Transcript window without needing assistive devices enabled.
