Applescript to take a folder of pdfs and create jpgs with high resolution

Hello,
I have a script that creates pdfs from InDesign and puts them in a specific folder on my desktop.
Can someone help me with a script that would let me select that folder of PDF's and create a high res jpg and place them into another folder on my desktop?
Ultimately, I would love it to be one script in the future, but will stay module for now as I am learning.
thanks!!

  • Xorg and framebuffer issues with high resolutions

So I got a nice shiny new 23" 1080p Asus VH236H monitor. Unfortunately, it's not turning out to be as great I was hoping, possibly due to the Geforce FX5200 bios, but I'm not sure. I think these issues are probably related, so I put them in the same thread.
First, the console: vesafb, uvesafb, and nvidiafb all fail at delivering a useable framebuffer greater than 1280x1024. vesafb flat out denies anything beyond 795 (0x31B). uvesafb and nvidiafb will fall back on 1280x1024@75Hz, which causes text to flash all over the screen and requires a reboot to remedy. It doesn't matter if I feed fbset the exact timings X uses, they'll still fallback on 1280x1024. `hwinfo --vbe` has this to say about hardware support:

Supposedly, the framebuffer should be able to support 1400x1050, but I can't get it, possibly because it's not listed as monitor supported. Does this mean that I'm stuck with a 1280x1024 max res?
This brings me to my next problem... Xorg. On my old monitor, I liked the nvidiafb-fbdev driver combination because I could quickly switch between X and console, and so long as I had the proprietary nvidia gl libraries installed, X ran smoothly. (never got the nv driver fbdev option to function with stability) Obviously, this is impossible now. I can't get nv to run at a resolution greater than 1280x1024. With the proprietary drivers, max resolution is 1440x900; however, if I disable max pixel clock checking, support for 1680x1050 and 1920x1080 is added.
Now, this is where things get serious. If I switch back to console after starting X with NoMaxPClkCheck, I get an out of range message from my monitor. I can freely restart/switch back to X and everything is fine there, but the console is unuseable until reboot.

    Brett,
When working with the file that has many vector points. Try working in Outline mode if you can and if it works for you. Keep in mind with all the complex vectors the screen has to redraw which is taking up application memory when you move or update the object/drawing. If you can try resize the graphic to a smaller size to work with it then enlarge it back to normal size when you are ready for the final version of the file.
    It may help.
    Thanks
    Scott

  • Pdf and djvu viewer with bookmark support.

    Hello everyone.
Can someone advise me pdf and djvu viewer with a bookmarks support?
I was using evince before but some time ago a bookmark support
    ceased to work for me.
I mean a bookmark support with ability to open saved documents
    after restarting of viewer.

Thanks for answer. As far as I discovered apvlv remembers the last position in pdf and djvu files but opens it only in pdf files correctly. At least it happens with my djvu files.

  • How to copy objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution?

I recently have bought a new Macbook Pro (Version 10.10.1) with the OS X Yosemite. The computer comes with the new Pages (version 5.5.1).
Here is the problem: I like to create artwork using the shapes on Pages. Previously, on my old mac, I used Pages 4.3 to create objects, which I would copy then paste to Photoshop and it would become a vector smart object. However, in the new Pages (version 5.5.1), when I copy objects, they would appear on Photoshop as instead, a layer and it would not be in full resolution.
Also, I know there is nothing wrong with the Pages file itself because I have converted the document to PDF form and it is high resolution when inserted into Photoshop that way.
Does anyone know how I can copy individual objects from Pages (5.5.1) and paste it into Photoshop as a vector smart object with high resolution as I have done before?
    Thanks!

Oh, well if you don't actually need vector objects then it looks like this is possible. As I said earlier, Pages is putting a PNG on the clipboard. I tested it and it does paste into Photoshop as a transparent layer, because I can see the transparent background of the pasted PNG graphic if I either turn off all layers behind it in Photoshop, or if I start a new Photoshop document to paste into but make sure I choose Transparent for the Background Contents in the New Document dialog.

I have the same problem - it is maddening. I rely on this iPad for work so this is not just an annoyance! The above solutions of changing the appleid on the device or on the website do not work.
The old email address no longer exists - I haven't used it in a year probably and I no longer have the account.  I logged into the appleid website and there is no trace of the old email address so there is nothing that can be deleted or changed there.  On the iPad there is no trace of the old email address so nothing can be deleted there either. I have updated the iPad software and the same problem comes right back.  Every 2 seconds I am asked to log in using the old non-existent email.  The device is currently useless.
The only recent change to anything was the addition of an Apple TV device, which was set up using the correct login and password.
Does anyone have any ideas? The iPad has been backed up to the iCloud so presumably it now won't recognize the current iCloud account? So restoring may notbe an option?

  • How do I convert a color jpg to a pure black and white jpg with no grey/shading?

how do I convert a color jpg to a pure black and white jpg with no grey/shading using Automator?

    Hi mns579,
    Thanks for your swift reply.
I'm afraid that sequence leads to a burn-out of some of the black text, making it unreadable.
To clarify, what I did was photograph pages from a book.  The interior lighting of the room where I photographed these pages leads to a jpg image with slight graying or shading of parts of the page.  So when I simply convert it to B/W, I get a washing out of some areas of the page where there is text, and this makes it unreadable.
I know that some software programs have a feature that allows a color jpg to be converted to b/w such that the text is made pure black and any surrounding areas of the text are made pure white (ie, all color is removed from the non-black areas), which makes for an easily readable b/w text page.  Am I able to do this with my Mac, and if so, how using the Automator feature?
(I have more than 50 jpgs that I would like to clean up in this manner, hence the ability to do so through Automator is important.)
Thanks for your attention to this.

  • Is there a way to import a .pdf and create a template in Pages?

Or is there some other application which would work to make this possible? It's a calendar which is in .pdf form, it's easy to read with Adobe Reader but I'd like to turn it into a template to personalize it.
    Cube 450mhz; iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

It is very tricky to modify the content of PDF files. PDF is almost a one way street. You create or export to PDF, and that's it. Adobe Acrobat Professional is able to do some modifications, but not much.
Usually it is better to try to get the original file, which the PDF was created from or recreate it from scratch yourself.

  • Book Module: Export to PDF and Blurb stops with error at two page spread

I have a 66 page book created in the book module..
When exporting to PDF the export stops with the error:
"An error occurred while saving the book.
There was an error creating the PDF file. "
The same occurs (at the same book page) when exporting to BLURB
"An error occurred while creating the book."
The creation or export always stops at the same page which is a two page spread. Interestingly there is a two-page spread before that didn't throw an error. I tried to move the problem page to the end of the book. That didn't help because the next two page spread in the book throws an error.
    Any ideas or help?
    Lightroom version: 4.0
Computer: Windows 7, Quadcore, 8 GB RAM

Hi, sorry I do not have a solution but I too have a very similar issue in that the book is the same size but the export to PDF does not start at all
I have tried reducing the image dpi settings. Jpg quality and still nothing
The only success I have had is if I duplicate the book, delete all but 8 pages and then export at full dpi settings of 300 and 100 percent jpg quality
    Any more pages and nothing
It's a great tool and would buy it if this feature actually worked. Oh yeah I only have the trial version at the minute to give it a good thorough test
I have looked for solutions but like your query they are all unanswered
Does adobe actually offer any support or is this all user solutions?
Did you find a solution by the way?

  • Performance, minimum bandwidth, thumbnail previews for PDF and InDesign Files with web content viewer

    Hi,
We are considering using DPS with a web content viewer for large PDFs and/or InDesign files. The client using a web viewer might have very limited bandwidth (some as low as 256Kbps). We ask:
1 - How well does the web viewer perform with very large PDFs and InDesign files  (500 MB+) with limited bandwidth? Does the file stream in chunks and the PDF shows as soon as the first page or two are available, with the rest loading in the background, or does the entire file come down in one part and then shown?
2 - Can PDF and InDesign files support thumbnail previews? For example, one image per PDF page and user can scroll forward and back.
Your thoughts and comments are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -Stephen

    Hi Stephen,
The way the web viewer works is that it converts the PDF/InDesign files to PNGs along with additional HTML assets. Assets are downloaded as they’re ready for a given page (e.g. first, page 1 is filled with its assets as they become available, then page 2, etc), so a reader wouldn’t need to wait for the entire article to load. The next few pages are also loaded in the background, so the reader wouldn’t be likely to notice lag as they flipped through pages to the next page after reading the current one. So the lag will depend on the size of an individual page.
For your question around thumbnails, the web viewer does not load a preview image so the reader would need to wait for the assets I described above to load.
    Hope this helps...
    Brian

  • PDF to JPEG with Higher Resolution

I have a simple script that takes a FileMaker layout, exports it as a PDF and uses AppleScript and Image Events to convert that PDF to a JPEG. It works, but the resolution of the JPEG is much lower than that of the original PDF. Here's the code that does the conversion:
    tell application "Image Events"
    launch
    set fileRef to open tempFile
save fileRef as JPEG in destFilePath

The final JPEG has a resolution of 72dpi. I've looked through the Image Events dictionary and there is a read only property of resolution. Would it be better to use another application or perhaps some sort of command line utility to get this job done without the resolution loss?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

OK, I read some of the man page for sips, and found the -g option for getting a property. I ran the following commands:
    sips -g dpiHeight 00127.pdf
    sips -g dipHeight 00127.jpg
Both report that the dpi is 150.000. However, when I open both files in Preview and place them side by side, and magnify the image three times using Cmd-+, I see pixilations of the JPEG file but not the PDF image. This is what lead me to believe that I was losing resolution. I can zoom in quite far with the PDF (10 times or so) and see details. With the JPEG I lose the detail after very few zooms.
So, perhaps it's not losing resolution, but something else is happening?
    Thanks,
    Chuck

  • Document Deleted and Created again with diff doc. number

    Dear All,
We are having the scenario that we have some parked documents during the fiscal year (2009) and before the yearend closing, we intend to change the new posting date (01.01.2010) for those parked documents which were created through Logistics Invoice Verification.
When we give new posting date (01.01.2010) and make save as parked/completed, the system issues a message,"Document 5105601528 2009 was deleted and created again under 5105601532 2010".
We need to keep the same document number 5105601528 for the next fiscal year also and do not want to generate new document for 2010.
I request you to all please provide your valuable suggestion that how we stop the new document number for the same document during next fiscal year.
    Regards,
    Ranesh.

    Hi
As you mentioned that you have changed the Posting Date in the Parked Document from old fiscal year to new fiscal year date 01.01.2010 , then the system will generate the Number based on the sequence available.
It is not possible to retain the same Document Number in the next fiscal year 2010.
Hence if you want the system to generate to the same old number, then in the new fiscal year, you shouldnt have any parked/posted document with that number.
As per my guess, in the new fiscal year already a Document was parked/posted with the numbers 5105601528, 5105601529,5105601530 and 5105601531.And the next number in sequence is 5105601532, iey when changed the posting date of the parked document system generated ihe next available number.
    Hope you understand.
    Regards
    Venkat

  • How to compile and creat JAR with native function

    Hi there,
I wrote some native function for J2ME. But it seems like using J2ME wireless Toolkits, we can not compile native function. Is it right?
Is anyone knowing how to compile and make JAR with J2MEWTK or command line?
    Thanks,
    Merry Christmas!!

    [zack327],
JNI like or native interfaces APIs is not supported in the CLDC/MID Profile 1.0 specification. If you have J2ME code that includes JNI code, the J2MEWTK tool will not compile successfully for you.
To package the compiled code to a MIDlet suite .jar file, use the 'Package' command in the J2MEWTK toolkit. It is found on the top menu bar 'Project' option as item on the dropdown list.
To package the MIDlets into a MIDlet suite .jar file from the command line, you can execute the usual jar file command:
    jar cf MyMIDletSuite.jar Midlet.class
You will also need to create a MIDlet .jad Application Descriptor file as well.

  • Bug in PDF and print output with gradients?

I've got a document that makes use of a gradient fill in a table, and I find that (at least for the < 2pt border widths) the border has a thin white line to either side. It shows up readily in both the print and PDF outputs. Is this a known issue? Where can I file a bug for it? I'm using iWork 6.0 with the latest patches applied. This all worked and looked fine under iWork 5.0. :-(

    PowerMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

What are you using to view/print the pdf's?
Make sure you have the latest Adobe Reader, found
    here:
Adobe - Adobe Reader - Download
I'm using Preview. I did check it using Acrobat reader on Windows, and the problem still exists. I suspect there was an error made (by Pages) computing the edge of the rectangle for the gradient. It renders correctly in iWork '05.
