Applet in Web Dynpro??

Hi All,
Is it possible to open an applet from web dynpro screen?
And after the user has done few task using the applet, the control should go back to WD screen which is in turn will be embeded inside portal.
Is this possible to do in WD?
Pls help.

Hi ,
You can create a JSP application.. embed your applet code in it.
Create a portal component iview out of the par.
In your webdynpro ,(for versions of NW2004s), there is a feature called suspend and resume plug.
You can fire a suspend plug to the jsp application url.. do the operation there.. and use resume plug in your portal application to resume operations back in webdynpro.
This works both in and out of portal.
if suspend/resume feature is not required..
Or you can simply use EPCM.doNavigate() to navigate across apps ..

How to integrate applet into web dynpro java application

We have a similar requirement and I have tested a method to do this on our NW 04 system that worked. But I really need to know what to plan for when we upgrade to 04s.
I am not sure if this is the right approach, but here's how I did it on our 04 system....I need to know if the approach I have taken below will work properly in 04s.
I built an HTML file in a string which contains javascript to launch the IXOS viewer applet...which is the "inString" below...

there is a webdynpro client for windows available (as of patch level 14 of SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 it is delivered as part of the SAP GUI installation). But it is beta software and contains some defects (take a look at SAP note 887817).

HTML, JavaScript, Applets possible in Web-Dynpro Applications?

Hello Community,
I'm developing a JEE5-Application using Web-Dynpro for the User-Interface. Web-Dynpro works fine for the most functions and processes of the application. But there are some special requirements i don't know to implement them using Web-Dynpro.
So my question is, if there is the possibility for:
using HTML-Code in a Web-Dynpro UI-App (the HTML dynamically generated by Web-Dynpro)
using JavaScript in the Web-Dynpro UI-App
using Java-Applets (for example to interact if local computer resources)
using an HTML-Editor for editing Texts in the Application (for example freeware Edtior fckeditor)
or do i have to use JSF in that case?

1) Using HTML-Code in a Web-Dynpro UI-App (the HTML dynamically generated by Web-Dynpro)
Ans: it is possible to put the HTML code in the WebDynpro UI App. Use the IFrame Ui element to do the same. See this:

After applying SP21 the web dynpro is not working (WDTypeNotFoundException)

You can go to Visual administrator (/usr/sap/<SID>/JCxx/j2ee/admin--go.bat)
Give administrator credentials..
Cluster-Server-Services-webdynpro Runtime.
See if it is stopped.You can see red croos,if it is stopped.If it is,
Right click on Webdynpro Runtine and start.
One more option,you can give a try is start all teh srvices manually through
telnet
This can be done with "run' command on you system
telnet <IP adress> telnet port
telnet port will be http port ending with 8.
then give administrtaor credentials.
then go with these commands,
jump 0
add deploy
list_app
start_app-all
Try looki in for detailed error messages in default trace and application logs.
Loc : /usr/sap/<SID>/JCxx/j2ee/cluster/server0/log

Error message when I run the Web Dynpro Project

Dear friend,
I had deploy & run project, but it's got the error message under the line:
I had install NWDS V. 2.0.11 on my PC, but the project which I deployed was the version that I created by NWDS V. 2.0.9, and I had install new OS as XP Home instead the old one (Windows2000), are these the cause of problem?
Please advise how can I do.

Probably the usual problem of deploying an application built with a newer NWDS (SP11) on an older server (SP9).
But without the stacktrace this is only a guess.

Please update the SAP AS Java at windows >> Preference >> SAP AS Java >> Add new SAP >> Put instance Hostname like 'CE1' and Instance Number like '00'. Then please verify that is connected or not in NWDS at windows >> show view >> Others >> Server >> Servers
**Also update the Update your server IP address and host name in host file entry at (Start > RUN > drivers > etc > host file)
and update JAVA_HOME system enviromental variable in my computer (My computer > Priperties >> Advance >> Startup and Recovery >> Enviromental Variable >> System Variables >> Add new JAVA_HOME parameter with path for installed Java JDK)

Hi Gurprit,
A null value is being passed at runtime. Make sure that you enter values when filling in the form.
Also check for the cardinality of the nodes being used. You can also initiliaze your value attributes as follows:
In wdDoInit() method:
wdContext.currentNodeAElement.setValueA("");
Context is as follows:

Running Web Dynpro Applications in Different Browsers

Hi,
I runned an Web Dynpro Application in different browsers(Opera, Firefox and Internet Explorer). The problem is that in Firefox is running fine, but in Internet Explorer some controls are missing and in Opera I got an Error Page that say the following:

What could be wrong? I have tried shutting down the J2EE engine and re-starting. I have also tried to bounce the server the J2EE is on. Still no luck. I see a ClassNotFoundException for com.eac.vendor.model.Viqmel, but Viqmel is not part of the package anyway?!?!?! What's really weird is that it was working fine a few hours ago! Please help!!

Hi Guys,
Here's how I solved it, actually this was quite a random solution!
1. I undeployed the application from SDM
2. I shut down and restarted the J2EE Engine.
3. I re-imported the Model.
4. I rebuilt, recreated the archive and re-deployed the app.
And to my surprise it started working again.

Web Dynpro & EPCF

Hi All,
I am kind of confused with EPCF.
Is EPCF eventing only for JSP Dynpage & HTMLB or is it used in Web Dynro ?
Does Web Dynpro has feature to replace or supplement the EPCF method of client side event handling ?

Purpose
The Enterprise Portal Client Framework (EPCF) provides an infrastructure for scripting used in iViews and by the portal.
To keep the application design simple and maintain compatibility to different browsers, Web applications usually avoid scripting. However, there are tasks that make it necessary to use scripting, such as:
·        Increasing user acceptance for example with context sensitive entry helpers
·        Enhancing response time of the application for example through validation of input values
When a business application uses more than one iView, you need the EPCF service to transfer data between the iViews. The EPCF service provides:
·        Mechanisms for eventing between iViews.
·        A Java object, called a client data bag, that serves as transient data buffer on the browser.
The EPCF implementation itself is based on JavaScript and Java applets.

CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES Functions for Web Dynpros

Hi folks,
I want to check a file, which should be uploaded using FileUpload. This file shall exist on the local client and doesn't exceed a predefined size limit. CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES provides methods FILE_GET_SIZE and FILE_EXIST. As this class is only for SAP GUI my question is, if there is something near it for WebDynpros?

You are correct that CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES is only for usage in the SAPGUI - as are any class with the naming CL_GUI*. They require the Control Framework of the SAPGUI.
What you describe is not really possible in Web Dynpro - not because of a limitation in WD - but because of browser controls. Remember that your application doesn't appear any more trusted to the browser than most anything else on the Internet. Even using security zones in the browser doesn't really open up full access to the desktop machine the way a thick client like the SAPGUI does. I'm afraid that currently uploading the complete file and counting the number of bytes (as described) is your ownly records. In the upcomming NetWeaver Enhancement Package 1 we do have two new ACF - Java Applet based UI elements that perform some of the functions of CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES. They are acfUpDownload (for mass uploads/downloads and "background" ones) and the acfExecute - (arbritery execution of applicaitons on the desktop client). These UI elements get around the browser limitations because they are Signed Java Applets yet still have a security control mechanism (via a Whitelist Configuration XML file) to keep people from using them in a detrimental nature. They still might not get you exactly what you want (file size query), but they are a step in the correct directly for replicating the most common functionalities of CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES.
