Embed java applet in web dynpro

Hi experts,
is it possible to embed a java applet into a web Dynpro application. Or have I to use a jsp / Servlet / AbstractPortalApplication / (JSP)Dynpage

Hi All,
Is it possible to open an applet from web dynpro screen?
And after the user has done few task using the applet, the control should go back to WD screen which is in turn will be embeded inside portal.

Hi ,
You can create a JSP application.. embed your applet code in it.
Create a portal component iview out of the par.
In your webdynpro ,(for versions of NW2004s), there is a feature called suspend and resume plug.
You can fire a suspend plug to the jsp application url.. do the operation there.. and use resume plug in your portal application to resume operations back in webdynpro.
This works both in and out of portal.
if suspend/resume feature is not required..
Or you can simply use EPCM.doNavigate() to navigate across apps ..

How can I call a java object from Web dynpro ABAP application?

I made Web dynpro ABAP application and posted it to SAP EP.
For certain business purpose, we need to call external 3rd party java object using 3rd party's java api in Web dynpro application.
Is there anybody who experienced this kind of java interface issue?
I know Web dynpro Java environment can fully support this kind of requirement. but regarding Web dynpro ABAP, I couldn't find any clue for this.
Any comment or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

if you have jco configured, then you can make calls to java api from ABAP .

We are moving Web Dynpro Java timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet.
what changes needs to be done from EP side?
I have made Web Dynpro ABAP iView calling Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet and linked it with page.
But It is showing an error 'Web Dynpro Application CATDATARECORD does not exist'.
Please suggest what other changes needs to be done.

I have added new Web Dynpro ABAP iView to the same page in which Web Dynpro JAVA iview was added and made ABAP iview visible.
And this page is already assigned to role.
How should I link this ABAP iview so that it get replace by the Web Dynpro JAVA iview.
And the application name (CATDATARECORD) is correct and Web Dynpro JAVA is using the same application.
But now we want new time timesheet for that what changes needs to be done?
Please suggest.

Leave as PAR. If the server starts, all .par files within this directory get deployed and in the case of success, .bak gets added. So .par.bak files are not deployed again on the next startup.

I think you don't need to delete the original, but just do it. If your changed .par file get deployed successfully, it will overwrite the old .par.bak anyhow.
But make a security copy of the orginal file for the case that you have changed the original PAR in some strange way

Java Control Panel wont open at all and any Java Applets crash web browsers

I recently installed a fresh fully updated copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, and I have not for the life of me been able to get Java working at all. Java version is the latest JRE 6U31. I only have Internet Explorer 9 installed but I doubt it is a browser issue since I cannot even open the Java control panel. I have tried using the 32 bit version of Java, and the 64 bit. Anytime I try to open the Java control panel with either 32 bit or 64 bit, I get an error message (click link below to view error message):

I can only bring up the Java Control Panel using the command “javaws –viewer” . Anytime I try to load a web page with a Java applet in either 64 bit or 32 bit, it freezes and crashes. I am running Internet Explorer 9 and have tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit browser versions. I saw Java’s recommendation to only use the 32 bit version so I have mainly been trying to get the 32 bit version working 1st, with no success. I have tried ALL of the following steps, and have done some exhaustive research on this problem. It seems others have had this issue as well, with no solution to be found:
•     Uninstalled and reinstalled only Java 32 bit JRE 6u31 multiple times (Used Javara and reg cleaner to remove all old Java traces)
•     Uninstalled and reinstalled only Java 64 bit JRE 6u31 (Used Javara and reg cleaner to remove all old Java traces)
•     Uninstalled and reinstalled bit JRE 7 (Used Javara and reg cleaner to remove all old Java traces)
•     Used SFC /scannow in safe mode to verify Windows files
•     Ran spyware and virus scan with no issues detected
•     Added all java processes to windows firewall
I am out of solutions here. If anyone has had this problem with Java or knows what I need to do to fix the problem your advice would be greatly appreciated. I don’t think reinstalling windows is the solution because this is a fresh install.

I figured it out. I changed the installation folder to C:/Java and it finally worked!

Embed OVP in custom Web Dynpro

I'm experiencing a similar problem as described [here|How to Embed FPM ABAP into a WebDynpro ABAP Application;, but that thread is closed (unanswered).
I want to embed an (ESS) OVP component in my Z Web Dynpro. I defined a component usage for the OVP component, embedded its window in a view container. I also set the configuration 'XYZ' for the OVS component:
   1. using code (as in FPM developer's guide)
   2. by means of an application configuration for my Z Web Dynpro
Both approaches to set the configuration (1 and 2) yield into the same result at runtime: see B
A) When I run the OVP component directly (OVP app with config XYZ), it works (ESS data is shown in FPM_LIST_UIBB panes).
B) When I run my Z Web Dynpro, only the header of the OVP component is shown (no FPM_LIST_UIBB panes with data).
Following symptoms make me think my Z Web Dynpro set up is correct and it is a FPM/Web Dynpro bug:
   1. Something of OVP component is shown (page header), so it is initialized and runs
   2. When I open my app while my PERNR is locked, the OVP component shows it in a message (exactly as in case A): "Person is already being processed by user XYZ123")
Did I forget something? Do you think it could be a bug?

Hi Joachim,
To embedd object selector in your custom UI you can use two interfaces which are implemented by this component. There are ObjectSelectorCI and CommandletCI.
I recommend you to use the ObjectSelectorCI. There are no methods in this interface. So, you need to add this interface to used components from cafuiptn~common dc, the "CommonInterfaces" public part. The only configuration step which you need to perfrom is create component and setup object selector configuration name to context
like this:

Using Java Model In Web Dynpro

I have a Java Bean. I have created a JAR file for this DC. A public Part si created for this DC and the JAr file has been added to it.
In the Web Dynpro DC, i add it in the used DCs. But when i go for Add Used Components, iam not able to see it there. And also when i am creating a model by selecting Import JavaBean Model, and selecting the Public Parts of the USed DCs Option, it gives "No Java Beans available for Import" message.
Can anyone please help in this regard, as to how the java bena model is to be used.

How to Pass Java Objects between Web Dynpro and Java SAP iViews

Basically I have an SAP web dynpro iView that I do stuff with and I want to pass an object to another iView which is just a regular Java iView. From what I've read and tried, I can't just stick something in the session object and hope that the Java iView can pull it down the other end. I had a dream that it was possible (seriously).
Anyway, are there any possible solutions around? Please advice and share you throughts. I will try to dream about it again tonight and see if its really gonna work this time.

There is no easy way you can pass objects other than those supported by express such as String, map, list etc.
Though not advised, you can create a class with static variables to handle the storage of such java objects during transition between form and workflow. You will need to somehow identify the objects uniquely .

Including external java libraries in Web Dynpro project

I am trying to include some external jars in my web dynpro project. By including in the project library, the web dynpro app compiles and runs fine.
The issue is that the when I check in the project it doesnt activate in the build environment. What is the best way to include these jars so that the project activate and compiles in the component build space?

There are two ways in adding the external JAR files in WebDynpro
1) RightClick on the project - > properties-> Java Build Path - >Libraries ->Add External JAR Files
By doing this , your jar will be available only on the local machine. if the path got changed or file got deleted , you will get errors.so to avaoid that
2) Goto Navigation Tab - > navigate through lib directory and paster your .JAR file there
By doing this your jar file will be deployed on to the sever ,so it will be available always as it is on the server

No you don't, but when you want to use your application in Portal, you. Or if you want to use Adobe Interactive Forms, than too you need java.

Moving from Web Dynpro Java timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP timesheet

We are in the process of moving from Web Dynpro Java ESS timesheet to Web Dynpro ABAP ESS timesheet. When using Web Dynpro Java ESS timesheet it is possible to enter time using a daily or weekly view.
When using the Web Dynpro version and ensuring the period type is set to weekly view for the data entry profile it is only possible to enter time on the weekly view, the tab for the daily view is no longer available.
Still using the Web Dynpro version and changing the period type to daily view I can enter time using the daily view and the weekly tab also becomes available, but the weekly tab is read only.
Do you know if it is possible to make daily and weekly timesheet entry for one data entry profile.

Yes you can have only one view ie weekly or daily as per your CATS profile in CAC1.
but of course you can select multiple profiles

Java applet UK web host suggestion?

I have made my Java applet and just about got it to working my webpage, but I am finding it difficult to find a web host who supports Java applets - they say that they are "resource heavy" and have "problems with Linux servers", great! Well, I need something none the less, a small website about 3MB in total, I don't know how much bandwidth and it has to support a .co.uk domain name I already own --and not cost much per month.
Of course I have done a lot of Googling on this but I'm not very good at it. Any suggestions...

Either you've communicated something wrong or they are talking crap.
Java Applets in their own right don't tax the server any more than static web sites do, as they are executed entirely on the client computer.
If you want to run some Java server for the applet to communicate with, then it's a different story.
