Applet POSTing Question

Is there anyway to make an Applet do a POST command to my Servlet on the server?
I'm trying to create a pretty GUI (with an Applet) where upon completion of the user's interaction, the GUI will send some parameters to my Servlet which will return a dynamically generated Web page (using the Servlet method).
Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

Richard

I recommend using netscape.javascript.JSObject.
You can obtain this by downloading Netscape.
In your applet do something like this:
m_window JSObject;
m_window = (JSObject) JSObject.getWindow(this);
m_window.eval("parent.frameName.someJSVar=1");
m_window.eval("parent.frameName.someJSFunction();");
This is a good method for submitting forms in some
seperate frame without reloading your applet.
Good luck,
Gil

  • I want to delete all past posts/questions & my account. How do I do that?

    I want to delete all past posts/questions & my username / account. How do I do that? I will make a new account with my new email and name but I want all of these posts and username deleted. please advise. thank you.

    Whether or not the hosts do delete your posts, do not make the mistake of believing that deleting something from the internet is so easy.  Once those posts have been archived by other sites that monitor this one, they remain archived.  People may still be able to find your cached posts on Google, for example.  In the future, you should not post anything anywhere online if you are not willing for the world to see it.

    Hi
    I see you have already posted a question here in this forum so it works!
    I dont know why you were not able to post but sometimes I cannot post too.
    It seems that the word filter is running in the background and sometimes its not possible to post because of the inappropriate content.

  • What are the numbers preceding some posted questions

    I tried to seach for this, but nothing came up. What are the numbers I see before some posted questions.

    Is there a link to the Support Community from the KB article that automatically puts the KB number in the new discussion. I couldn't find one.
    Or does the person creating the discussion manually put the article number in the topic.
    I now know what the number is, I just don't understand how it gets in the new discussion topic.

  • Where is the forum to post questions on Windows 8.1 (table) APPS

    I have a Windows Tablet (HP OMNI) Windows 8. I am using the people app that Microsoft provides. I have linked my account with Facebook. Now when I go to the PEOPLE app in Windows tablet and I click on "Whats new", I should see all the new updates
    from Facebook however I just see only 3 of them. Is there a way for me to see all the notifications from Facebook.
    If it helps, this used to work just fine almost a month back so I m not sure why it is not working now.
    I have tried almost everything - restart, uninstall the PEOPLE and MAIL app and install it back , re-add my facebook account in the PEOPLE APP but nothing helps. I only see 3 notification IN WHATS NEW sections.

  • Applet tag question

    I am working with applets and have been getting the classdefnotfounderror exception and a wrong name error.
    After pouring over the archives and messing around, I have found a
    solution to my problem, but I don't know why it works. I think it has to do with packages, but I'm not sure.
    I have two versions of Asteroids, one which has "package Asteroids" at the top
    of each file, and one that has no package.
    First with the version that is in a package: If I have the html file in the
    same directory as the class files, I cannot get the applet tag to work
    properly. If I back it up a directory (just outside the Asteroids directory), this works:
    <applet
      codebase = "."
      code     = "Asteroids/Asteroids.class"
      width    = "640"
      height   = "480"
    </applet>
    {code}
    One old post I found said that the wrong name error indicates that the qualified name is incorrect ( so my incorrect name would be Asteroids.class) and that the full name should include the package, so mine would be Asteroids/Asteroids.class, I think. Is that correct? If so, why wouldn't this code work inside the same directory as the class files?
    For the version that is not in a package, the opposite seems to work.
    {code:java}
    <applet
      codebase = "Asteroids/"
      code     = "Asteroids.class"
      width    = "640"
      height   = "480"
    </applet>
    {code}
    This code works for the version which is not in a package, but does not work for the version in a package, ( and vice versa for the code above). It seems like either code should work in either case. What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    I don't know what your understanding of packages and applet codebase is. These 2 tutorial sections should clarify your understanding, though.

  • Simple applet jar question

    I'm sure this is an easy question, but how do you access subdirectories in your applet's jar file?
    For instance the contents of MyApplet.jar jar would be:
    * META-INF
    * images
    * net
    Say the main class is MyApplet.class in net/mydomain/myproject
    How in the main class would I get at images/MyImage.jpg?
    Obviously I did not get this code to work:
    ImageIcon upIcon = new ImageIcon("images/MyImage.jpg");
    Thanks alot!

    Actually now I am using:
    ImageIcon upIcon = new ImageIcon(MyApplet.class.getResource("/images/MyImage.jpg"));
    This way the 'absolute' resource is found (becuase the resource name starts with a '/').
    This seems to be the best way to do it.

  • I am not clear on the points system in the Forums. Will I get points for simply posting questions or replying to questions?

    No. Points are not given for  simply posting a question or a reply. Points are awarded by the person who  started a discussion. They can mark a reply to their question as either The  Answer or as Helpful. They can mark one “Correct” answer and two “Helpful”  answers per discussion thread.

    @ adobe-admin (J.C.?):
    Thanks for fixing the "backslash" error. Accuracy is important, and doubly so when presented as an F.A.Q.
    The sad thing is how prevalent the usage of "backslash" is when a plain old slash is meant (generally, the "forward" attribute is assumed and unneeded), and by people who should know better. It's a direct result of people knowing just barely enough about the Windows file path naming protocols, and then applying the only terminology they're familiar with incorrectly to URLs.
    I went about 10 rounds—TWICE!—with a labyrinthian succession of people at the Discovery & History cable TV networks because they were saying "backslash" in voice overs whenever their commercials promoted their websites. It took some doing, but I finally got in touch with somebody who was savvy enough to recognize that it was a rookie mistake made by a clueless marketing copywriter. The voice over person just read the copy they were given, oblivious to the difference. It amazes me that it wasn't caught by somebody early in the recording/production process and rectified.
    They then had it correct for about a year, until new commercials started popping up with the same error. Unfortunately, the person I had talked to previously no longer worked for the History channel and I had to go through the process of finding someone who understood all over again.
    Yeah, you can call me a nitpicker with nothing better to do.
    But I've earned that dang badge, and I wear it proudly!
