You can use property nodes to manipulate windows programatically. You can show them, hide them, move them around and resize them. What exactly are you wanting to do?

  • How can I create a popup panel in a CVI DLL and keep it on top of the calling TestStand application window?

When I create a panel in CVI and use InstallPopup() to display it, the user can set the focus to the main TestStand window, which causes my popup to disappear underneath it.
I'm guessing I need the popup to be a child window of the main application window.  I've tried passing the Engine.AppMainHWnd handle as the parentHandle argument in LoadPanelEx(), but this causes an error, as it is not a valid handle.
Also, if I call another DLL function from a control callback within my popup, which creates another popup, on closing the second popup both disappear and the program is stuck in the RunUserInterface() of the first popup.
This seems a simple requirement, yet I don't seem to be able to find a straightforward way to achieve it.

    Steve,
I think this is more a TestStand question than a CVI question.
To use a CVI popup with TestStand, you should call TS_StartModalDialog() before InstallPopup().
When you quit your popup panel, you should call RemovePopup () and then TS_EndModalDialogAndDiscard().
The TSModalData must be the same for Start and End Modal dialog.

  • Application windows too big

The screen size of the desk top is fine. Every application you open - IE - WORD - EXCEL etc... is too big on the screen. How do you make the information smaller in windows 7 ??

    Hello Sherri123,
Check your screen resolution to ensure it's properly set. Right click on an open area on your desktop and select screen resolution. The lower the screen resolution (such as 640 x 480) the bigger the programs will appear. You want a higher resolution such as 1024 x 768 to make them appear properly.

    Hi Hussein,
Thanks for your reply. I have verified md5sum with digest of edelivery, and all codes are same in both.
I have done the installation as per following.
My envoirnment is Windows XP professional SP2. Installed cygwin in d:\cygwin, installed vc++ 2005 enterprise edition under d:\v98. Intial checking for file space , domain etc all are fine (all got green marks) and I have started install button.
    1. Downloaded files from edelivery "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.1 Media Pack v5 for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) " and unzipped it.
    2. once i unzip I got the following file structure . I put all directories under f:\StageR12.
    oraAppDb - Disk1 to Disk49
    oraapps - disk1 to disk11
    oraas - disk1 to disk3
    oradb - disk1 to disk5
startcd - disk and other directories.
    3. I went to the F:\StageR12\startCD\Disk1\rapidwiz and invoked Rapidwiz.
    4. Till step2 it is fine, oracle instances got created. At step3 I got the shown error.
Can you please help me on this.

  • When I try downloading Kindle for PC Windows 8 I get the message "this link needs to be opened with an applicatio"-and I don't know what I have to do

Hi, I have just brought a new laptop running windows 8 and have installed Firefox. My old laptop was running XP and I didn't have a problem running Firefox on it. I am trying to install Kindle for PC on my new laptop but I keep getting the message "this link needs to be opened with an application". I've never seen this message before on any web browser that I have used. I have "googled" the question and some suggestions are:
    > reloading Firefox-no point I've just loaded it
    > downloading through Internet Explorer-which I don't want to do as I want Firefox my browser of choice
    > Some talk of changing profiles-which I haven't a clue about.
Any help in plain and simple English and assuming I have no prior knowledge (I'm a car driver rather than a mechanic) will be greatly appreciated.

  • How can a LabVIEW application be run from the guest account in Windows 7?

I want to make some of my labVIEW applications (no DAQ or external hardware involved) available to temporary visitors in the lab. A natural choice would be the guest account of Windows 7, but if I try to run LabVIEW or any of my built LabVIEW applications, I get the following error dialog.
I am sure this can probably be fixed with a few permission settings. What is the easiest way to allow running these applications from the guest account?

  • LabVIEW application fails to run properly at Windows startup

I have experienced problems with my Labview application after putting it in the Windows XP startup folder. The application runs perfectly if I start it manually but whenever I get Windows XP to start it after boot-up, I see various error messages. My application uses calls to the NIMotion library and it's these calls that are generating the error messages. I don't always get the same errors and the problem has occurred with two different programs on two different computers. I think it is something to do with NI services for the motion controller that load at startup and haven't yet been started before my application runs. I have configured Windows to login automatically and I have noticed thay my program executes quite early, sometimes even before the desktop icons appear.
I have seen that a number of other users have experienced similar problems. There was a recent post titled "Waiting for Windows Idle" in the LabWindoesCVI forum that is related. The only solution that I have come across is to wait at the very start of the program until the rest of the dependent services have loaded. I have added a 30 second wait to my programs and this appears to have largely solved the problem. This is no the best solution because it is not always guaranteed to work. I have had a situation recently where Windows was installing an automatic update and the bootup process was slower than normal. This caused my program to fall over again. I don't wan't to extend this time too much or the user will be waiting every time the machine is turned on.
Another solution would be to check for those specific errors that are generated and keep trying the function calls until they are successful. I have not tried to do this yet. It would probably be quite time consuming process to write the code to process the errors because I need to build an executable and reboot everytime I want to test. And again this method is not guaranteed to catch all errors. Surely there must be a better way. I have done some initial investigation into the Windows Service Manager but haven't got too far. I've discovered I'm not a Windows programmer and I don't know what all those NI services listed under "Administrative Tools" actually do. Surely there must be some better way or some tool out there that can check that Windows has finished loading?
    David Reeves

Sorry dreeves, I don't have an answer for you. I would like to know the solution myself. I had similar problems recovering from a standby state.
DAQmx takes a while to get going for USB devices and the queue functions didn't recover properly at all.  I just sat in a loop checking the status of my attached devices until they initialised properly then moved on from there.
It would be great if there was some way to check the status if the various LabVIEW modules that load on startup. Then, when all the ones you need are ready, continue with the rest of your application.
I would think checking LabVIEW for its status would be more reliable then asking Windows if it has finished starting up.

  • Create pdf-files trough prn-files in a windows service applicatio

    Hi,
i have also the problem to create pdf-files from .prn-files.
in normall windows aplication we ar using the distiller but we would like to create the pdf's by running our application as windows service.
in this case it is not possible to use the distiller. As i understood we have to use the acrobat PDG Generator as a server application.
My question is, is it possible to make function calls to the service where i pass trough the prn-file and the according pdf-file is than created immediately.
This is important because the created pdf-file ist than used for different purposes.

  • How do you reinstall HP Remote Solution Application after installing Windows 8

Well, I goofed!  I inadvertently uninstalled the HP Remote Solution Application after I had installed Windows 8.  I now want to reinstall it but the application first checks for the presence of Windows 7 and therefore, the installation stops.  Does anyone know how to get around this?  I used 7-ZIP to break the program into pieces, (sp44385), and there are two executables: Install.exe and hpprobar.exe.  The install.exe gets you to the dialog box that finally says, "Yes or No" to install it but it then fails because of Windows 8 being installed.  If you executre hpprobar.exe by it self, you get the dialog box with the scrolling bars but nothing ever happens.  There are also two DLL files; wbdib44i.dll and cpc_dmird.dll.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Chuck

    Hello ChuckC1812
If the problem is occurring intermediately, then another program may be interfering with the software. Try disabling the Startup programs and see if the remote works after that. For instructions on managing Startup items follow the OPTION ONE section of the following thread: How to Manage Startup Items in Windows 8.
The other thing I would like to mention is the software package you downloaded is meant for a different TouchSmart computer, as such it may not work correctly with your Remote and you may have "iffy" reliability at best.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" to those that help solve your problems.

  • Labview 4.1 application and Windows 2000/XP

Can a Labview 4.1 application running on Windows Nt 4.0 be moved to an Industrial Computer running Windows 2000 or Windows XP?

Within Windows XP you have the option of running a program as if it was using a different version of Windows. Right click on the program and then change the "Run As" option to whatever version of windows it is designed to work with.

  • Does change to Windows XP involve problems with application runnig with Labview 6.1?

    Thank you

A little more information maybe helpful. Are you saying you have upgraded from a OS to Windows XP and it caused problems with your application, or are you asking if there will be any problems if you upgrade? What OS were you upgrading from? LabVIEW 6.1 is the first issue of LabVIEW that was supported under Windows XP, so there should not be any issues there. In my experience, doing upgrades from one Windows version to another is never a smooth transition. If you are using any hardware I would advise that you uninstall the drivers and remove the hardware before the upgrade. I might go as far as removing existing National Instruments (such as LabVIEW) before you upgrade and then reinstall the software and hardware after you have upgraded. This will be the be
st way of ensureing you have as little problems as possible after you upgrade.

  • Communicate between C# window application and Labview.

    Hello all!
Now what I shall do is to use both labview application and C# window application for my project. Basically it's that the state change in labview triggers an event in C#. As a short description, my labview application receives UDP message from an external device and shows them on the front panel. I'd like that when the received message reaches for example 10, the C# application is triggered to implement a switch.
I got the idea to use .Net object in labview, a constructor node to get a reference to my C# app, and in my C# app expposing public methods telling the app something happened in the LV app. I think that would help but I don't know how.
Anybody could give me an example of that. The importance for me is to know how should I set the constructor node in labview, and what is to add in C#, like "using labview" in the header.
    Thanks in advance!
    Chao

Once you constructed the .NET parent object (the one which provides the access to your "reaction code"), you can use invoke and/or property nodes to call into the .NET assembly.
So if your object exposes a method which should be called once you hit 10 samples, you simply count the number of samples available in LV and once 10 are available, you use an invoke node to call the appropriate method.
There are a bunch of examples provided with LV, for instance one called "Task Monitor Using .NET Objects".
