Application Builder Create Page Wizard... huh?

I just tried this wizard to create a wizard. I assumed the wizard would look like the Apex wizards with a "step" ladder. The Wizard wizard seems to create pages, next, previous, and cancel button and not much else.
I tried creating it using tabs, just tabs and I don't see anything else. Is there a tutorial or ? on the page Wizard wizard?
Thanks,
Sam

Scott,
I don't know why you can't read minds... Larry does :)
If I sounded like the design or implementation of the Wizard wizard sucked, that was not my intention, I wasn't even trying to be sarcastic. I assumed the "wizard" map would be part of the Wizard wizard. And no I don't know what is is :)
I am not looking for content, I was looking for the construct that provides the current step that the wizard is on. Like during page create from the "Application ###" page of Application Builder. I like the "overview" nature of the process map.
The first is Page > Define
After you select the type of page it goes to "Pages > Region Attributes > Tab > Page Attributes > Buttons > Branching > Confirm" for the wizard to create Wizards. Should follow the same titles that are provided for the pages on the Page Attributes page of the wizard. Here is the code from the page source. I thought it was an Apex construct.
<td valign="top"><div class="htmldbWizBar">
<div class="htmldbWizNon">Pages</div>
<div class="htmldbWizArrow"><img src="/i/arrow_down.gif" width="7" height="6" alt="Down" /></div>
<div class="htmldbWizNon">Region Attributes</div>
<div class="htmldbWizArrow"><img src="/i/arrow_down.gif" width="7" height="6" alt="Down" />
</div><div class="htmldbWizNon">Tab (optional)</div>
<div class="htmldbWizArrow"><img src="/i/arrow_down.gif" width="7" height="6" alt="Down" />
</div><div class="htmldbWizCurrent">Page Attributes</div>
<div class="htmldbWizArrow"><img src="/i/arrow_down.gif" width="7" height="6" alt="Down" /></div>
<div class="htmldbWizNon">Buttons</div>
<div class="htmldbWizArrow"><img src="/i/arrow_down.gif" width="7" height="6" alt="Down" /></div>
<div class="htmldbWizNon">Branching</div>
<div class="htmldbWizArrow"><img src="/i/arrow_down.gif" width="7" height="6" alt="Down" /></div>
<div class="htmldbWizNon">Confirm</div></div></td>
But I am guessing that does not happen.
Thanks,

  • Calling a separate BSP Page from a Web Application Builder BPS page.

I have been creating a basic BPS application for manually entering data into BW.
We are allowing users 2 options:
    1. Manual Data entry via a web Page created in the Web Interface Builder.
    2. Via a Flat File using the process described in the "How To" Guide on how to load a flat file into BPS Web Page.  This was done in the Mime repository via a BSP application (transaction se80).
I want to incorporate both method on a single web page (or group of linked pages) so that the user can choose which method that they want to use.
My question is: How can I call the flat file loading screen (created in se80) from the Manual data entry screen that was created in Web Interface Builder?
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Adam,
You dont have to create a new tab also. You can incorporate the newly created BSP page
below the Manual Entry layout. Do the following step
    1. Create a text element below the layout in web application builder. Choose Edit long text
    2.insert this code
    <iframe id="Text86" border="true" name="upload4" src="/sap/bw/mime/bex/icons/pixel.gif" width="580" height="65"></iframe>
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
      var frame  = document.getElementById( 'Text86' );
      var url    = '/sap/bc/bsp/sap/z100bps001/upload_hours.htm';
// set source attribute of iframe to new URL
      frame.src = url;
    </script>
Now you should be able to the see the newly created BSP page below your layout.
Coming to your other question on "hard coding" the answer is you shouldnt specify the absolute url, just specify the relative URL and system will take care of the rest.
    Eg. - '/sap/bc/bsp/sap/z100bps001/upload_hours.htm'
Let me know if you need any help.

  • Can I call a regular LabVIEW VI from my C# application without first creating a DLL in the application builder?

I am writing a C# application and have LabVIEW 8.2 and the Application Builder. I want the application to call different standard VIs included in LabVIEW. One way to solve this is to create a blank VI, insert the desired standard VI, have the Application Builder create a DLL and then let the application call the DLL. Something tells me there must be a shortcut to this, is there? Aren't all standard LabVIEW VIs really DLLs underneath the surface? Can I somehow call those DLLs directly?

NO, LabVIEW is a programming language and contains a lot of primitives. Some VIs are wrappers for DLL's but even calling these from C(#) might be a problem.
You can exploit the LabVIEW ActiveX interface to perform all the actions you want.

  • Application Builder is it faster?

    Hello all.
I just finished doing the example "Building an Application" from the
Release Notes "LabVIEW Application Builder Version 5.1". After doing
the build procedure the application ran noticeably slower that when I
ran the demo program in labview. Did I miss doing something to the
app or a setting in the builder, I was hoping the app would run at
least as fast when run from LabView but not slower. The machine I am
running on is a Pentium 300 running NT.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Steve Drake

The Application Builder creates an executable program which is at least as
fast as the same program run in the programming environment, with a gain
speed ranging from 2% to 10% due to the removed debug code.
However, this is true if you use the same options (especially the ones below
the "Performance" tag) you used in the programming environment. To force
your program to use these options, you have to make a copy of your current
LabVIEW.ini file (from the LV installation directory), rename it like your
executable file (i.e. assuming your exe file is myprog.exe, rename the copy
as myprog.ini). Finally edit the file, that has the same structure as a
standard Windows INI file, and rename the section named [LabVIEW] as your
program (in our example [myprog]). Distr
ibute this file in the same
installation directory of the executable file. This will force your progam
to use the same settings you used when developing it.
Apart from this, the executable file is also a bit smaller in memory, since
it does not load the editor and the debugger. In low memory conditions, this
can provide an additional speed gain.

  • Can i create page programmicaly?

Can i create page not using Create Page wizard, but using Java or ...

There is currently no way to create a page programmatically.

  • Modify a  Page created in Application Builder (cursor problem)

I created a application in the 'Application Builder' that comes with Oracle Express. I can not get the cursor to start in the first field if that field is a 'text field automatically submit when enter pushed'. it only works when I change that field to 'text field'.
Is there a way to fix this?
    or
Can I pull up the code for that page and modify it manually?
    or
Can I open that form in JDeveloper?
    Thanks.

    Hello Garrett,
Around here, apex, ApEx, APEX, is short for Oracle Application Express.
Oracle XE comes with Oracle Application Express, however it is Application Express version 2.1. The latest production version of Application Express is version 3.2.1.00.12. See here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/download.html for information on upgrading your version of ApEx to the latest version. It provides tons of improvements over what was already a sweet tool.
Application Builder is just one of the tools (albiet the primary tool) in ApEx. It sounds like you're definitely going to want to spend some time with the Help, and also in the number of tutorials available at http://apex.oracle.com/i/index.html to get up to speed with it. There's too many places to list here where you can incorporate Javascript into your applications - but check out the help and tutorials and I'm sure you'll soon no longer be a "total noob"! I'm assuming you do mean Javascript - not Java - two very different languages used for two completely different things.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • Application Builder Wizard Table Name drop down

    Hi Folks,
I am running Apex 4.0 on 10g express DB.
I am trying to build an application based on views using the wizard but the tabular form can pick up only tables but not sql query or views..any way to work around this?
    thanks,

    Hi "user2147613",
As you have identified, only Tables can be selected in the Create Application wizard, for the creation of pages. However, our Create Page and Create Region wizards can be used to generate pages based on your views, in an existing application. You'll just need to initially create an application with at least one page ( e.g. a Blank Page ) via the Create Application wizard, and then edit the application to make use of the Create Page and Create Region wizards. The Create Application wizard exposes only a subset of the options that would be available via the other Create wizards, and this is due to the fact that the number of steps in this wizard are kept to a minimum, and therefore a number of assumptions are made. For example, only a table with a Primary Key defined can be selected for the creation of a page in this wizard. So if an option is not exposed in this wizard, then I would suggest reviewing the options available in our other Create wizards. You may find it useful to refer to Chapter 8 Adding Application Components of our User's Guide for further information: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17556_01/doc/user.40/e15517/app_comp.htm#CHDCGHGE.
    I hope this helps.

    Hilary

  • Application Builder: What is the significance/function of "page sequence"?

Because we are always pressed for time, I have developed the nasty habit of glossing over things that may be opaque to me, with the mental reservation that I will re-visit the issue "when things calm down".
One of those opaque things is the function, significance, or use of "sequence" in the context of APEX Application Builder and application pages.
I am working through the Oracle-By-Example application labeled OBE_PROJECTS. I have created the Master-Detail form, but it has not come out as expected. According to the instructions, when I created the page, I designated the home page as its parent. Yet, when I run the application, the icon for the master-detail form does not appear.
I assume that I've fat fingered something when I built the page and attempt to correct it. I think that the answer will lie in the task "Reparenting page hierarchy". When I look at the "Create/Edit Breadcrumb Entry page", I see in the "Entry" region, that the Parent Entry is, indeed, correct ... that is "Home (Page 1)". On the other hand, the text box labeled "Sequence" is set to "10". And this is the same value as the Home Page itself. Can that be correct? Shouldn't my Master-Detail page have a sequence number subordinate to the Home Page?
    Any help/elucidation will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Gus

    Varad,
I hadn't gotten that far yet. I'm still following OBE script and accessing the page from the "Run Page" icon in application builder.
The issue itself, pages not showing up, is solved for me. I had anticipated that simply declaring the parent of Master-Detail page to be home page would automagically make those objects appear on the home page.
Slogging through the Oracle By Example, I learn that one must actually edit the home page to have them appear (how barbaric!)
But, the question of exactly what "page sequence" means and how it's supposed to be used is still there.
    Thanks for the Response,
    Gus

  • After installing an application that was created using the Application Builder

After installing an application that I created using the Application Builder I get this error if I try to run " ANY " LabVIEW App's that I have built. "Executable Version 7.1.1 doesn't match Resource File 7.1. Check your configuration."
The way that I tried to fix this is to reload LabVIEW 7.1 and DAQmx 8.0. I am using two NI-6528 switch cards.
After I reload LabVIEW and DAQmx I can run my applications but as soon as I install one on this development machine the error begins again.
The executable that I built works fine on the development machine and any other machine that I try it on but it appears that the Run-Time engine 7.1 becomes corrupt after I run setup.exe for the newly created application.
I have built numerous Installers, setup.exe's in the past without this error. Just this latest one caused this problem to start.
I can NOT upgrade to 7.1.1. I am doing work for many different sections of this factory and I can not force them to upgrade. I've asked. Others supply code for the same machines using LabVIEW 7.1.
I am stuck creating executables and manualing moving the correct files to the target machines.
    What can be done?

No. The KB article was talking about a machine with 7.1.1 installed. I have LabVIEW 7.1 installed.
The machine that I am having trouble with is my development machine. LabVIEW 7.1, DAQmx 8.0.
If I build the executable all is fine. I can still run old executables including the one I just built.
If I create the installer all is fine. I can still run old executables including the one I just built.
When I install the app on my development machine the corruption occurs. I can " NOT " run old executables including the one I just built. The subject error pops up.
I have not moved any executables to the other machines yet. I don't want to corrupt others.

  • Application Builder: Can you create non-blocking, return-immediately functions in a dll?

I need to include a procedure in a dll that is non-blocking, i.e. it should return immediately after the procedure has been called, and not return after its processes are completed.
The procedure is a LabView 7.0 VI, and the dll is being created using the Application Builder. Currently the procedure completes its desired task and then returns, but I would like the function to return immediately. Thanks for your help!

    Rischaard,
I don't know if that will work in a dll, however as an idea:
    use the vi-server functions:
Your dll-procedure opens a OwnTreat.vi(wich will do the work) with vi-server, and run it without waiting for completion.
First thing OwnTreat.vi should do is opening (with vi-server) a reference to itself (So your caller dll can close without stopping the OwnTreat.vi)
Then OwnTreat.vi con do what YOU want. When finished close the self-reference
Maybe you need a short wait or a feedback to make sure that OwnTreat has opened his own reverence before your dll stops.

  • Is it possible to embed DAQmx in Installer(created by Application Builder)?

The good thing of Installer (created by application Builder) is that it also integrates LabView Runtime Engine along with supports like Serial port support, Port I/O support etc. Due to which one can install the application developed by Labview on any system wheather that contains Labview or not, as the engine required by that application also gets installed.
But problem with my application is that it uses DAQmx related stuff, so I have to install DAQmx 8.0 prior to running my application installer on any system. Is it possible that the DAQmx related stuff required by my application also gets install through same installer as it installs LabView Runtime Engine, so that the distribution of my application donot require the complete installation of DAQmx.

You need to use LV 8.0.  You can add NIDAQ to your installer in LV 8.0.  In previous versions I do not think it is possible.

  • DLL created with LV 7.1 Application Builder doesn,t work when analysis subVIs are present

I'm looking for a solution of the following problem.
The DLL created by the "sum1.vi" source works properly, while the DLL create by "sum2.vi" always gives a zero result.
The "sum2.vi" source contains an additional "Hanning Window" VI (not wired), that seems to be the cause of the problem.
If I delete the Hanning VI and re-build the DLL, the same works fine
Is there a solution or is it not possible to make Labview DLLs when containing analysis VIs as filters, windows, FFTs, and so on?
    Thank you for your answers.

Thank you Jordan, I'm using Labview 7.1.
Anyway I've resolved the problem by adding the "lvanlys.dll" file (present in "..\Labview 7.1\resource\lvanlys.dll" path) as support file in the building process. Now the DLL containing the analysis functions works correctly.
    Natalino Roberto
Ok, you probably got lucky since the lvanlys.dll seems to implement that function directly. However most Advanced Analysis functions are just redirected by lvanlys.dll to the Intel Math Kerneal Library that gets installed with LabVIEW 7.1 and higher. The only way to get that properly installed with your LabVIEW executable or DLL is to create a LabVIEW installer in your Application Builder and make sure to select under "Installer Settings->Advanced" the "LabVIEW Run-Time Engine" and the "Analyze VIs Support". Then use that installer to install your DLL on another computer.
