Application Err 523

Noticed at the end of a charging cycle from  fully discharged state, that my Blackberry Curve 8520 was displaying
"App Err 523
   RESET"
 on a white screen.
The BB has now become unusable since it has remained in this error state inspite of  various resolutions tried as below.  
Have already tried the following
1. Tried hard Reset by removing and putting back the battery.  After the usual booting delay of about 2 mins, the BB displayed  "Blackberry" on the screen and which was followed by the dreaded white screen again with the above error.
2. Tried  Soft Reset by pressing "alt" kay, "shft"  kay on right & "del" key simultaneouly.  The BB reboots, but at the end of it, displays the same 'App Err 523' as in 1 above.
3. Tried  updating the OS from Blackberry Desktop Manager Ver 6 (?)  ..... 
a) physically connected the BB with USB cable to Laptop ( Windows 7 )  while BB sreen showed the above error.
b) Desktop Manager pops up a window displaying 'not able to communicate with the device'  and prompts to 'Retry' OR  'Update'   OR  'Cancel'.
c) Clicking on 'Retry' does not help. The same message window pops  up again.
d) Clicking on 'Update'  pops up a window stating 'Checking for available Updates' but goes in indefinite  Wait State.  While in this state, triggered Soft  Reset ( as in 2 above), causing a Reboot. While rebooting, communication with between Desktop and the BB takes place and a new window pops up displaying  " No updates available at present"  and  asks to provide email id  "for receiving updates when available".
e) Also tried to boot the BB in Safe Mode by hard booting ( with battery removal & putting back) and by keeping ESCAPE key pressed.  The BB Did not  boot in Safe Mode, but  at the end of the booting cycle, displayed the same 'App Err 523' as in 1 above.  ( this also dispells the popular notion  that a BB goes into this "App Err 523" state because of some third party applications, since any third party applications are supposed to be bypassed when booting is done by keeping ESCAPE key pressed.
I am at my wits end. Is there any way my BB can be recovered?

I have Desktp s/w version 6.1.0.35. Tried as suggested. However, after clicking on Update, a box poped up with message "There are no Blackberry device updates available",  and also the email prompt which read "you are currently receiving notifications when updates are available..... "  (since I had checked the email box earlier and provided my email id). This box however, did not have "view other Versions" button.
As suggested, unchecked the email thing and tried again. This time also got the same message box with a question "do you want to be notified ..... etc"  but still without "view other Versions" button. Hence unable to proceed further for forcing reload/update of the OS.  Is there any other way of force detecting and reloading the OS ?
By the way, my last backup was quite some time ago. Although, I do not mind losing the data after previos  backup, if it can be retrieved, it is a welcome thing. From one of the responses that I came across to a similar problem, I understood that if the BB can be started in Safe Mode, it would be possible to retrieve the data. Is my understanding right?  If so, how do I boot my BB in Safe Mode? Have already tried with ESCAPE key pressed after red LED goes off while hard booting. Has not helped. The BB still goes in the App Err 523 state. Is there any other way? Say, forcing the BB  in Safe Mode from Desktop while booting?

  • Pearl 9100 Reboot / Application Error 523

    My AT&T Pearl 9100 started going haywire last week after I let the battery die.  After charging rebooting, the screen would not respond (i.e. - frozen).  Rebooted a couple more times, and finally got the cursor to move, but not all icons responded - some would, some wouldn't.  After rebooting a few more times, everything seemed normal.  But, the battery drains down in just a few hours, or overnight even when turned off, and I have to go through the whole cycle again:  reboot 4 or 5 times, then it starts working.
    Sometimes, I get the white screen with "Application Error 523", and have to go through the reboot cycle again.
    Here's the device software info:  Release 5.0.0.1528 (platform 6.2.0.101 / OS 5.0.0.921)
    Any ideas?

    I don't have much ideas. I suggest you upgrade the OS of your device.
    You can either upgrade to a higher OS5 version, or to an OS6 version.
    I recommend OS5 because the home screen management makes more sense in my opinion.
    But if I were you I would go for OS6 because the browser is so much better. And fixes many issues from OS5.

  • Application Error 523!!!

    Curve 8300 AT&T...latest OS, I believe.
    I have done a search and came up with a few interesting answers on the subject.  I was trying to activate the surreal theme last night and the error came up...I cannot do anything with the phone...when I pull the battery it boots up and says app error 523 and then gives me the option to reset, but it goes through the same process.  My phone is not password protected and I don't have a memory card to pull (another forum said to pull in the process).
    AT&T customer services is supposed to call me back to walk me through the master reset process.  Is there any other way to get it to work again without losing everything??  I am loading the latest desktop software right now to see if I can even connect it to the computer.

  • Keep getting Application Error

    Keep getting "Application Error 523 Reset" on home screen. Need help please!

    Try resetting the device by removing the battery for 1 minute then replacing it. See if it reboots.
    Usually with a 523 error you'll need to reload the OS on your device.
    First download and install the Desktop Manager from here (4.6 without Media Manager is recommended): https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=A8BAA56554F96369AB93E4F3BB068C22
    Next download and install the handheld software from here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp
    Afterwards try reloading the OS by connecting the device to your computer, open the Desktop Manager, then go into the Application Loader. This will open a wizard that steps you through reloading the OS onto your device. More detailed steps can be found here:

  • Opening PDF file in Acrobat using SWF???

    I spent the whole day figuring out the floating SWF menu on
    top of Adobe Acrobat. Unfortunately, on some computers (I can't
    figure out why) when I click on one of the items in the SWF menu
    (in this case a .PDF file), the PDF file opens in its native
    application (err: Adobe Acrobat). However in some computers which
    has almost identical programs installed (Winxp, acrobat 7, etc),
    Acrobat opens up in Internet Explorer.
    Is there a way such as an action script to where the link
    will ALWAYS open PDF in Acrobat and not in Internet Explorer?

  • Optimising Performance with Firebox

    I had a look over some of the discussions recently as I was having a few issues with the Presonus Firebox I bought last week. Thanks to helpful advice given to someone else, I was able to resolve the problems with digital crackling. I breathed a sigh of relief that I hadn't wasted my money!
    I recorded a few pieces, nothing more two guitar tracks, to test it out. It sounded great. However, this morning I got up to start recording something and I've been having problems with the recording being stopped and the "Too Many tracks, effects, etc, try... Optimising Performance" box coming up.
    I concede that my computer isn't the most powerful of the current range, but I am only recording one track of audio and that's it. There are no other tracks playing or even muted.
    The set-up/arrangements is currently as follows:
    The Firebox is going into the PowerBook and there's a 200GB La Cie external hard drive daisy-chained off the back of it. The only applications running are GB (2.02 or whatever the latest is), the two Firebox mixer and control applications, err, Airport (I could turn this off) and Bluetooth as I'm using a Bluetooth mouse so I can sit to one end of the room and isolate external noise away from the computer.
    I've followed the standard GB advice on optimising. I've made sure settings in Energy Saver are set for highest performance. I've even tried changing to built-in audio for output (which I'm not listening to anyway as I play), but this seems to make no difference. All effects are switched off.
    The problem doesn't appear consistent. Sometimes the recording stops after a few bars, sometimes it manages three minutes before halting. Agh! It's not really the sort of guitar piece that I can edit together from pieces and until I get this part down, I can't start on the rest as I'm not playing against any click track so that the tempo flows more freely over the course of the piece. Playing a five-minute piece and thinking you've finally got it without any fluffs, only to look up and see "Optimising Performance" from across the room is exasperating!!
    I've never had any such issues with GB using built-in audio for similar. It can handle four audio tracks with limited effects quite readily. I tend to mix these down to one track and reimport them into a new one at this point.
    There's a pressing need to get this guitar track done for a friend. Once the acoustic part is in, I really don't have any need for the Firebox as such. I could go back to using the old mic set up (a rather antique Sony mic rescued from a rubbish bin in Tokyo and using a MiniDisc as sort of pre-amp) but it's noisy and the sound isn't nearly as good as the new microphone. When the recording works, that is!
    I imagine it's possible (is it?) to directly connect the audio output of the Firebox to the mic input on the computer and thus stick to built-in audio, but I'm sure that using Firewire should work. I'm hardly overloading anything currently.
    Any suggestion or tips would be most gratefully listened to!

    I think you may well be right and the computer isn't currently sufficient, but it does seem odd to me that it can't even handle one single track of audio with the Firebox connected via Firewire. I could understand five or six. Since the only thing that has changed in the set-up is the switch from built-in audio to the Presonus, it has to be that. Or rather, as you say, the computer being unable to deal with it adequately with the current RAM.
    I'd lock the tracks but there is only one of them!
    (Looks at credit card statement and wonders about upgrading..!)

    1. i have a simple sync-service (WS2RFC; based on standard rfc).
    2. service was successfully tested via RWB--> test message (expected response).
    3. WS was published on PI-Service Registry (as shown at http://www.riyaz.net/blog/pi-71-publishing-service-interface-as-a-webservice-in-sr/).
    my question:
    4. when WS is being tested (at Service Registry environment) i'm getting an application err (rfc exception, sxmb_moni shows  "application error). Note: if i'll copy the soap-env-body and send it via RWB--> test message it works fine!!!.
    how come? what can be done?

    the auto-generated url is seems to be ok (as far as i understand; after clicking the wsdl is opened and it seems to ok as well).
    anyhow:
    when testing (via SR) the WS the response is an exception thrown by the rfc (therefore, i'm able to call target rfc at target system).
    how can i test the url?
    following the additional input, can you suggest other debug options?

  • Blank screen w/error message after updates

    Toshiba U305-s2812 laptop was performing fine, loaded updates and things went downhill. Decided to restore to a previous date. The restore function initiated as normal, seemed to take along time to restore files so I walked away. Upon returning screen was blank with message (0xc0000135 logon.scr- application err. failed to initalize). Everything seems to load, but screen goes blank when it should go to the logon screen. After it sits for approx. 20 mins....error message appears (0xc0000135 logon.scr- application err. failed to initalize). Also, performs the same if I attempt to boot to safemode. Pointer appears and responds to mouse movement, but there is nothing on screen to point to. Any suggestions?

    Logon.scr is that funny small drifting picture that Vista starts out with. It's in the Windows\System32 folder.
    You can try going into the Recovery Environment and replacing the file. I can supply a copy of the file
    Can you reach the Advanced Boot Options menu? Turn the computer on and immediately press and hold the F8 key. On the Advanced Boot Options menu, choose Repair Your Computer.
    If you can't reach the RE this way, I can tell you how to get there another way, but you'd need to jump through some hoops.
    It would be easier all around to restore the hard disk to its original state using Toshiba recovery media.

  • VB: use an existing connection

    Hello, experts
    We use Bex for reporting. It is necessary to call RFC ABAP function. Unfortunately function has to be called several times, therefore I am looking for possibility to catch an existing connection and assign it to my object instead of creating new one every time.
    The idea is following:
    Set oFunctions = CreateObject("SAP.Functions")
    Set oFunctions.Connection = Run("BExAnalyzer.xla!sapBEXgetConnection")
    The problem is with connection assginment. System shows run-time error 61704 "Internal application err"
    Ofcourse I could close connection and ask to logon each time user press the button.
    Any ideas

    I am new and lost. Totally. Last week my BlackBerry Pearl 8110 began acting very crazy. It would go on and off over and over again. I no sooner would be able to get a call in and there it went again to the 'red light district'. Finally it went off never to return to form or function. I checked for updates and discovered there were upgrades available so I began. While watching I noticed there were like 402 units or so and I had just passed 300 when I began to wonder if the phone would even stay on much longer. Which it didn't. For days after I was experiencing Application Error 523 Reset. I couldn't get beyond that so I logged on here for assistance. I almost had help. I tagged on the end of someone else's problem but when she was helped I was dropped. No, wait, I was told not to enter the same problem twice? I tried a mixture of other peoples solutions and now here I sit with more text on my screen than I'd seen for almost a week now and the screen has a load of hollow menu items with the heading BlackBerry Platform 2.7.0.106.
    Please will someone help me? I have doctors appointments this upcoming week  and I have my info entered into my calendar. I missed some great photo op's last night(Halloween) and I feel completely lost.

    It was working fine until I ugraded HTMLDB (latest patch).
    If I access it with another browser without going into htmldb development tool , it works fine.
    If I clic the RUN in HTMLDB development tool and login with a valid htmldb user I now get :
    ERR-1002 Unable to find item ID for item "FLOW_SESSION" in application "11964
