Application missing Resource MyApplication .properties file

For some reason I have one Web Dynpro application that does not generate a .properties file. All of my other projects do. Is there any reason why?
I need this file so I can write resource bundles for other languages.
Thanks.

The .properties file is generated from the .xlf file.
in the webdynpro perspective:
select "Navigator view".
Open src ... find your view/window xlf-file.
right-click on the xlf-file and select I18N Tools -> Create Property file
The file is also generated automaticly from some wizards and editors. That's why you see it in some projects and not in some others.

    so i have created the Resources folder and added the properties file in that folder and now i am trying to access that contents of that properties file in my jspx page using below code
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

  • Error reading properties file upon deployment

    hi. i'm still relatively new with regards to the Java programming language. in any case... i am developing a simple project wherein the application has to make a database connection to a server. the application is finished already however.. i am having problems deploying it.
    my project has a "resources" package containing the file "config.properties" which contains various information (connection details among others). correct me if im doing something wrong, but in deploying in, i copied the "dist" folder of my compiled code and then tried to run the java exe independently which resulted in an error. i already tried copying the "config.properties" file to the dist folder and even creating a "resources\config.properties" file but it still results in an error. could you please help me figure out how to deploy the application with the properties file. the code i used in referencing my .properties file is as follows:
    Properties configFile = new Properties();
                configFile.load(this.getClass().getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream("Resources\\config.properties"));
                String username = configFile.getProperty("username");
                String password = configFile.getProperty("password");
                String url = configFile.getProperty("url");
                String dbtype = configFile.getProperty("dbtype");
                Class.forName(dbtype);
                conn = DriverManager.getConnection(url, username, password); thanks in advance. ^^

    thank for the help mangst. i guess the IO approach is also applicable ^^; i changed my code to:
    configFile.load( new FileInputStream( ".\\resources\\config.properties" ) );but i had a little trouble in debugging it since it starts the file search from the main project directory. however it works fine upon deployment. ^^; thanks again.

  • Problems with properties files and war files in weblogic 5.1

              I work with WebLogic 5.1 and I'm trying to deploy a web application which gets
              a properties file. If I deploy it as an expanded directory hierarchy (with the
              properties files into WEB-INF/classes) I have no problems. While deploying it
              by a .war file I get this message: "en_GB java.util.MissingResourceException:

              trying to get an english property file). What could I do? Is it really a weblogic
              5.1 bug?
              Thanks,

    This issue comes up repeatably. It's a real bug.
              I believe this problem was fixed in a 5.1 service pack, but I'm trying to
              find out the exact disposition of the issue. Noone seems to be complaining
              about this under 6.x, so a fix seems to have been made, the only question is
              whether or not it got back-ported to a 5.1 service pack.

  • Weblogic Classpath setting error not able to pick the properties file

    Hi All,
    We are using a third party jar and create a java Web service on the top of that jar. This jar file need two configuration file .properties and .xml when we deploy war for the application into weblogic server it will give file not found error. Though this file already exists inside the .war but from the application it is not able to pick the files.
    We find that these file need to be put in weblogic domain home and we put it there and application works.
    I decompile the jar and found that inside java class they use FileReader("allXXX.xml") path and when I Google it and found that it will pick the file from weblogic domain directory.
    The issue is that we need to put properties file in specific weblogic folder like /3party/config by setting the class path inside startWebLogic.cmd. Please let us know solution for same
    Thanks in advance

  • Load the path for properties files

    Hi;
    My application uses of the properties files which are stored in a repertory /properties at the same level that JAR.
    I search an good means to configure the path of the files properties: for example: a environment variable or another mean?
    My application will read from this env variable (or another means) the path where are stored the files to use them.
    Regards;

    If the properties file is fixed, then it's best to make it a resource as suggested and put it inside the jar.
    OTOH if you have a situation where the properties file is dependant on installation or even writable then that won't do.
    In a lot of cases where the properties are variable it's better to use the Preferences class, on Windows this will put the data in the registry.
    You can use a command line argument, of course, to specify the location of your configuration file. I tend to use java System.getProperty and -D command line switches. That has the advantage that you don't have to send the value down from main() to where you are using it.

  • Setting up .properties file

    Hello
    I would like to know if theres any particular rules for setting up the .properties file. Like in my application i have four *.properties files
    1)log4j.properties 2) mapping.properties and so on
    the mapping.properties file have jsps mapping..so basically it says
    (key) add.project.param = (value)add_project.jsp
    project = project.jsp
    I am trying to understand how response.sendRedirect sends the appropriate link to project.jsp (view page) from add_project.jsp
    In add_project.jsp, response.sendRedirect is simply written as
    response.sendRedirect("tsaa.go?param=view&oid=" + parent + "&type=" + ptype);in my servlet dispatcher class; there are various functions two of them are
    1) void processRequest(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) { }
    2) String getForwardPage(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) { }
    and i think these classes take care of forwarding the request to appropriate page.
    If there are certain rules for setting up the mapping.properties file, do i have to set my new jsp pages in mapping.properties file as:
    quality.control.param = quality_control.jsp
    quality.control.results = quality_control_results.jsp
    (rite now i am using qc.results = quality_control_results.jsp and that doesnt seem to work)
    somehow response.sendRedirect("tsaa.go?param=view&oid=" + parent + "&type=" + ptype) doesn't seem to work in my quality_control.jsp page. Without the above line i can atleast move till quality_control.jsp page from home.jsp....but with response.sendRedirect().....i am on home.jsp after a refresh.
    if u know any links where i can read abt .properties file please let me know. googling gave me build.properties file but nothing for jsp mappings
    Any help is appreciated
    Thanx

    i got the solution
    please ignore the posting
    thanx

    First of all, it would be useful if we knew what version of WebLogic you're
    using. There's considerable differences between versions.
    In general, if you have a standard WAR structure, you're better off putting
    properties files in the "WEB-INF/classes" directory of your WAR structure. If
    you do that, you have a chance of being able to redeploy the changed properties
    files without having to restart the server.

  • Properties file in jar

    When I build my application, I put the properties file in the jar file. I can easily read the properties file from there using
    ClassLoader.getSystemResourceAsStream
    but is there a way to actually UPDATE the properties in the properties file if it's included in the jar file I'm executing? Or, would I have to put the properties file outside of the jar to be able to update individual properties from within the code?

    I would use the one inside the jar only if one externally does not work. If your jar is used by multiple users, you might want to store this in a place like $USER_HOME/.project_name/property_file so individual users can have their own properties. If the user has no properties, then load it from the jar.
    If multiple users is not an issue, you could store it externally. I see no reason not to. You can store it internally, but you risk corrupting the original jar (say the power goes out while writing a new jar or updating it) You could do it with java.util.jar, or if the jar executable is available (or even a zip for that matter) you could call that to update the jar with the new properties file using Runtime and exec.

  • In a new Application, the ApplicationResources_en.properties file is not having the constraint messages created

    Hi Everyone:
              We are using JDev 11.1.2 and JHeadstart 11.1.2.  We have been having a multitude of problems when running applications through the migrator (and we have now been told by an Oracle consultant that the migrator is problematic), so we are trying to re-write things from scratch to bring them over from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.
              I have been working on a simple application from scratch and discovered that the messages for constraints on the entities that I am using are not showing up in the ApplicationResources_en.properties.file.  We noticed a similar thing with converting an application using the migrator and that post is found here - java.lang.NullPointerException ADF_FACES-60097 message ***WITH SOLUTION*** -.
              However, I didn't get a single reply to that thread.
              I initially thought it was a migration issue, but this application is from scratch.  Whenever I tried to input an invalid value into a page column, the following exception would be received.
    "java.lang.NullPointerException  ADF_FACES-60097:For more information, please see the server's error log for an entry beginning with: ADF_FACES-60096:Server Exception during PPR, #"
               This Null Pointer turned out to be the missing message from the ApplicationResources_en.properties file.  In the new application I just wrote, I had to manually edit to add the following lines to the ApplicationResources_en.properties file and the application no longer gives me the error if I input an invalid value.

    Hi Everyone:
               I have done some further testing.  We are using a re-usable Business Components .jar file to access our entities.  We import the .jar file into the project and create the ViewObjects and ViewLinks from that .jar file.
                It APPEARS that a test case using the HRSchema and using the Entities & Associates generates the constraint error messages, but when I use the .jar file of re-usable business components imported into the project, those constraint error messages are not created in the ApplicationResources_en.properties file.  I have created two testcases as well as the re-usable .jar file that I can send to you to show what I mean.
                This behaviour seems to have shown up in 11.1.2 as there was no problem before this.
                 Please let me know where you'd like me to upload the testcases.
                 Thank you.

    Hi,
    I had a similar error just a few days ago. I could solve it by replicating the datasources again and activating the transfer structures via rs_transtru_activate_all. After that the load went fine.

  • Location of application-specific properties files

    I am using Tomcat 4.0.3 under WinXP Pro, and I am trying to get my
    application to "find" an application-specific properties file. I am having problems trying to determine which directory to put this file in.
    Here is the Java code I am using for this class:
    import java.util.Properties;
    import java.io.FileInputStream;
    public class ForumProperties extends Properties {
       private static final String DEFAULT_FILENAME = "/WEB-INF/classes/mystuff.properties";
       private static ForumProperties globalProps;
       private ForumProperties() {
       private ForumProperties(String fileName) throws Exception {
          this();
          load(new FileInputStream(fileName));
       public static ForumProperties getInstance() throws Exception {
          try {
             if (globalProps == null)
                globalProps = new ForumProperties(DEFAULT_FILENAME);
          } catch (Exception ex) {
             ex.printStackTrace(System.out);
             throw new Exception("Error loading properties file");
          return globalProps;
    }I have put the properties file in just about every directory I can think of to try and find out where it's supposed to be, but I can't get it to work. I can put the file into the "user.home" System property (which turns out to be C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator) and have it pick it up, but I would prefer to put the file into the path of the application.
    I have tried four different methods to load this file:
    1. load(new FileInputStream(fileName)); (same as above)
    2. load(Thread.currentThread().getContextClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(fileName));
    3. load(this.getClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(fileName));
    4. load(getServletContext().getResourceAsStream(fileName));
    All of them fail for not finding the file except #4, but that's not the
    optimal solution as it requires a servlet context, which for "genericness of code reasons", I DON'T want to do.
    As an aside, I pulled the "java.class.path" from the System properties to see where it's pointing, and all it has in it is
    "<CATALINA_HOME>\bin\bootstrap.jar" with no other paths included.
    Is there an attribute or something in the server.xml or web.xml file I am forgetting to set, or another approach I should be taking?
    Bob

    See if this code fragment helps.
              String MAIN_FILE_PATH = "./BlueGnome/demos/Properties/DemoPropertiesFile.properties";
              java.net.URL url = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResource(MAIN_FILE_PATH);
              System.out.println("PATH: resolved name = " + url);
              // Get the file.
              // We could just use FileInputStream here.  Then we would have
              // to provide a path that was meaningful to the system like
              //     c:\java\BlueGnome\demos\Properties\DemoPropertiesFile.properties
              // Doing it this way allows us to use generic directory
              // seperators and allows for it to search for the file using
              // the CLASSPATH.  That also allows for it to be in a jar file.
              java.io.InputStream is;
              is = ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResourceAsStream(MAIN_FILE_PATH);
              if (is == null)
                   throw new Exception("Resource File "

  • How to read JBoss server 'app.properties' file in the deployed Flex application?

    Hi, my current Flex project is using LCDS server to make call (Remote object call and Data managements services' call) to the backend Java services and consume data to render. I have defined the AMF and RTMP channels in the services-config.xml file and destinations for the Java services' in the remoting-config.xml and data-management-config.xml files.
         <channel-definition id="my-amf" class="mx.messaging.channels.AMFChannel">
                <endpoint url="http://localhost:8080/eqcFlex/messagebroker/amf" class="flex.messaging.endpoints.AMFEndpoint"/>
                <properties>
                    <polling-enabled>false</polling-enabled>
                </properties>
         </channel-definition>
    As of now both the Flex application WAR file and Java services EAR files are depolyed on the JBoss server on my machine, therefore I can hardcode the endpoint URL as http://localhost:8080 in the services-config file and hit the Java services.
    But the requirement is that the Flex application WAR file needs to be deployed on JBoss servers deployed on different machines and hence the endpoint URL cann't be hardcoded in the services-config.xml file. Is there a way we can pick up the endpoint URL from the JBoss server's app.properties file so that we can dynamically create channels in Actionscript code and make call to the backend services with dynamic endpoint URL?

    But in Command prompt I found out that My properties file by name
    'cedrelay.properties' is not recognised by web.xml.My web.xml structure is
    How does web.xml "recognize" anything?
    You specify the properties file as an init parameter. Do you read it in the init method of the servlet? If so, what does the code look like for reading the properties file?
    You'll have better luck if you put that properties file in WEB-INF/classes and load it as a resource input stream from the CLASSPATH.

  • How to handle multiply properties.files in combined applications

    I have some applications bundled into one jar for each application. The applications make all use of a properties.file in it's own /resources/ folder within the jarfile.
    To avoid running each application on the desktop with it's own JVM and as seperate programs, I wrote a menuprogram which can start the applications within a splitted pane. Left pand is a JTree menu, right side is the applicationspace. This way i have only one JVM active and all app's can be accessed from within a single window. This menu applications also has it's own properties.file.
    I noticed that the applications now all use the same properties.file which is actually not correct. The file used is the one which belongs to the menu application.
    So i have : menu.jar, app1.jar, app2.jar, appn.jar
    The menu.jar is started and from within this application i run the other applications (jInternalFrames). All apps seems to see only the properties.file within the menu.jar IMHO because i create the objects from app1, app2 and appn from within the menu.
    QUESTION:
    How can i change the code to force each app.object to use the propsfile delivered in his own jar-file?
    Here's a code snippet used in each application.
    setPropertiesFileName("/resources/application.properties");
    try {
    is_ = getClass().getResourceAsStream(propertiesFileName);
    props.load(is_);
    catch(Exception e){
    // Debug Props
    setDEBUG_LEVEL(props.getProperty("DEBUG_LEVEL"));
    setTRACE_ENABLED(props.getProperty("TRACE_ENABLED"));
    ...

    You can do this, but is it generally a bad idea which can turn into a nightmare to manage.
    Instead each application should use a different properties file. Is there a good reason every application proeprties must have the same name and path?
