Application name allows spaces == compiler errors.
Hi,
Love the idea of the LaunchPad. Great way to see working code examples for all the top mobile APIs. I noticed when I created my application the Application name allowed spaces in the name. Once I imported the app into Flash Builder 4 Burrito, it threw a number of errors due to a space in the class name(s). It took a while to find all of the places where the spaces needed to be removed.
I think it would great to have LaunchPad allow spaces in the name, but then know when to replace the spaces with underscores _ for the package and class names. This way we can keep the application name with spaces for things like the app name listed on the device, but then ensure that there are no spaces where it will throw compilation errors.

Thanks for the feedback Brent! I see what you're reporting, thanks for letting me know. I recently changed the way that works to use the app name for all the file names, previously it was created with the name Main.mxml so that was not an issue. I'll consider replacing the spaces with underscores as you suggested. Thanks much! Holly

Can somebody tell me where the "Spaces" feature retrieves the name of an application from? That is, does it just take the name of the application bundle, or the executable inside the bundle, or something else? And does it store this in a cache somewhere that I can clear out?
I ask because I am a programmer and have several copies of the application that I am working on using different names. When I add the program in Spaces (System Preferences->Spaces, click "+" and select my program) it uses one name that I assigned to one previous version of my program regardless of which version I am using now.
However, I have no idea if it retrieved this name from the name of the bundle or somewhere else. I want to verify that the end user will see an attractive and simple name and not the hacked name that I use to build a specific version of my program. And I want to make sure that I assign this name correctly to the application I release.
Can somebody help me with the questions I posed above? Thanks.

PS I asked this first in a more general users discussion forum but it was recommended that this would be a better location.I have compiled several development versions of my application for testing and debugging and have given them different names. However, Spaces seems to have taken one of those names and stuck with it, and now when I compile a new version and give it a simple name that I would like the end user to see, Spaces still identifies the app as one of the names of a previous development version.
I assume this name is cached somewhere, so I would like to empty out that cache and verify that the name I have given to the app is the one that Spaces will use. Also, knowing the specific plist item that is used by Spaces would help as well.

FPGA Compilation error advice - Internal Name

When trying to compile the LV FPGA code I get a timing Violation error for "Non-diagram component" with internal names such as: "/G2X8ChinchWithDmaPortBim128x/Gen2X8_Kintex7XilinxCoreDmaPortInternalx/ChinchCore2X/ChinchStatusPusherX/IspIf.LowerStatusBuffer/Kintex7Gen.TheK7Mem/IspIf.sIntStatHeader[4]_i_3/O."
LV does not trace this back to the block diagram and won't show me the element causing the problem. Are there any techniques people can suggest to use for tracking down the route cause? Is there a way of using this internal name??

Unfortunately, from my experience and from all the resources I read, this error usually doesn't point at a specific bits of code on the block diagram. This is because you get this error when the compiler simply cannot satisfy the timming requirements you specified in your code. So for example, the compiler could not allocate enough resources to make sure your code executes in the time you specified.
You can think about the compiler as a city planner trying to draw the shortest-path road between thousands of points and making sure that everyone has the same transit time. So even if the compiler knows that the timming is wrong between A and B, even by a little - it cannot easily figure which exact bit of code you should change for it to be able to meet the timming requirements.
One thing we can do to reduce the number of paths the compiler is routing is to remove the implicit enable signals from SCTLs.

Other options are to try and reduce the amount of gates used by trying to find and replace redundant bits of code if there are any. If you are using the FPGA in Hybrid mode, consider does it need to be used in Hybrid mode? As that takes up additional resources on the FPGA for the Scan Interface.
Reducing FIFO sizes or numbers if possible is another way of reducing gates used, data representation size as well. Even un-wrapping subVIs would give the compiler more gates to work with.
The main point is that the code can probably be optimized in some way to allow the compiler to meet the timming requirements, so any adjustments that you might can help.

I confirmed that I have System.DirectoryServices.dll located in
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_MSIL\v4.0_4.0.0.0__b03f5f7f11d50a3a\ folder and that I as well as System have read as well as read&execute privileges
not only to all folders in its path but also to the DLL file itself.
I would appreciate any help in trying to resolve this compilation error so that I can proceed with implementing LDAP features for this endeavor.

I reloaded iTunes 10 (64 bit) successfully, but the problem remains the same.
Any suggestions?I looked in the folder from which I want to synch photos, but there is no such thing as an "ipod photo cache" in that folder, or sub-folders, as suggested in the link which you were nice enough to provide.
I have also tried removing photos from my iPad2 Photos App, and "iTunes has stopped working" shows up again as soon as I click on the "Synch photos from" button. -

Even if you don't have any third-party plug-ins or add-ons, try opening iTunes in safe mode as per the instructions in the following document:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
If iTunes opens in safe mode, quit iTunes and then try launching it again normally. Does it launch without the error messages this time? -
@@ START command doesn't allow spaces in folder names
the initial start command:
START 'C:\Database\SQL Files\query.sql'
works, but within the query.sql file i have placed start commands that link other files:
@@ 'Formatting.sql'
When you run the start command, it locates the query file and executes fine, but when it tries to open the Formatting.sql file it seems to consider a space in the foldername as the end of the path, ie:
SP2-0310: unable to open file "C:\Database\SQL.sql"
Are there any ways to make the @@ command allow spaces like the original start command?
