Application Specific Popup in Web Dynpro - Issue

Hi Gurus,
I am trying application specific popup which is described in FPM cook book. I am deferring the current event and trying the following steps as described in the cook book.
1) Created new WD ABAP view "POPUP_CARRIER"
2) In the component controer created a new WD ABAP event. e.g: "REGISTER_POPUP". which does not have any parameters
3) In the method PROCESS_EVENT of component controller raise the WD event "REGISTER_POPUP"
4) In the view POPUP_CARRIER create a new method. e.g "REGISTER_POPUP of type event handler for the event "REGISTER_POPUP_EVNET"
5) In the method REGISTER_POPUP use the ABAP window API inorder to create a POPup.
My issue is the method which is dependent on event is not invoking. Any help would be appreciated

Does anybody know how to open view specific popups from Process event method. I have followed the similar steps as suggested in the FPM cookbook but I dont get any popup. When I debug I get following error.

In case you want to use Launchpad, you can use ABAP class CL_APB_LAUNCHPAD_API. If choose not to use Launchpad, you can use method CONSTRUCT_WD_URL of ABAP class CL_WD_UTILITIES to generate the URL. Specify Web Dynpro application and Web Dynpro Configuration as parameter. Finally create an external window using method CREATE_EXTERNAL_WINDOW that points to that URL.

Popup Window (Web Dynpro for ABAP)

Is it possible to locate a popup window where it show?
This window is not dialog type.
I have tried to do this sometimes using window->set_window_position( xxx) and window->set_window_position_control( xxx ).
I think that these method call is available to dialog box type window.
Is it right?

Hi Etnaya,
It is currently not possible to specify the size nor the position of a popup in Web Dynpro ABAP. There has been a revamp regarding popups last year December to make them more user friendly and to offer advanced features, like having popups in the portal that are not trapped inside of an iView on the portal. We are in the process of reimplementing the size/position features - but I am not able to provide an eta on them. Nonetheless, there is some relief: The size of popups is now calculated automatically.

Adding an ABAP Web Dynpro application to a Java Web Dynpro screen

Hey fellow SAPers
This is an interesting one .........
We have developed a bespoke ABAP Web Dynpro screen that we want to include into a tabstrip in a Java Web Wynpro application. We have managed to do this by inserting an iFrame into the tabstrip, and then passing the UWL of the ABAP Web Dynpro app. This works. However, life is never that easy and of course whenever the screen is refreshed, the ABAP WD app is called again and so any changes to the data on the ABAP screen are lost as the data in the ABAP app is re-selected and the data returns to it's original state.
Does anyone know:
- of another way to incorporate an ABAP WD screen into a Java WD screen (as a tabstrip)
- how to de-activate a Java view so that the view containing the ABAP WD app is refreshed (i.e. the window is refreshed), the view is not refreshed and the ABAP app is not re-called .....
- any other ideas ....
of course, we could re-develop the same screen in Javam, but that would be too easy

I'm guessing you want to show this within the WDJ app not above, below to the left, right...
This is a very very difficult thing to do - I'm guessing that you are not actively passing data into the URL of the WDJ IFrame, but just have "decorated" the WDJ app with the a statically linked IFrame. In this case the only thing you have to tie the two together is the user id that you are using - and potentially the time the app was launched. You could in theory use a shared memory area (watch out for multi app server environments) to store the state of the app in case it got refreshed... but this is not a simple thing to do...
Consider if it is absolutely necessary to enhance the WDJ in place - hopefully you can just replace it with a WDA when you install EhP5

Sitemap Web Dynpro issue

Hi Experts,,
As I created an sitemap (I used *navigationMethod="byURL"*) for our client portal. It has both portal pages & web dynpro pages under 4 roles.
In MasterHead i gave the link to sitemap(I will open in PCD Area.)
When I click any portal page link in the site map, Its opening in PCD Area.
But When I click any Web Dynpro Pages link an erro is comming as
" An error occured while starting the iview Application /webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/pb/PageBuilder;jsessionid=(J2EE94581)ID035........) will run with a wrong client window ID
Do not continue: please report this problem to your Administartor"
Its comming in an alert box.when i click ok ,
The page is opeing correctily. But I dont know why the alert message is comming.
*Note: Portal Server Version is 7.01 SP6*
Please help me to resolve the problem.

If the user is using link from favourites of browser, Ask him to delete it and manually enter the url and Try.
In my case, The user just deleted the saved link from Favorites and tried entering the url manually,
though it is weird it worked.
or else try these Notes 1450543, 1171930 .

Application Authentication Similar to Web Dynpro JAVA

Hi,
I am developing a Web Dynpro ABAP application on the lines of existing Web Dynpro JAVA application.
In WDJ, application is authenticated and user needs to provide his intranet id/password to login to application. (with same user-name and password he logs into portal)
Now, my first question is how do I make my WDA application authenticated? (I can see that when application is called from URL, I need to enter my R/3 user-name and password)
And once I do that, how do I make sure that user is authenticated by his intranet ID and password?

Go to transaction SICF. There you will find a service node for all WDA, BSP, and Web Services in your system. At the level of each service node you can edit the authentication settings and choose the allowed authentication mechanism and the order in which they are interpreted. That isn't one of the options from the AS-ABAP directly. If you want the Portal Login credentials, then you should have the user logon via the portal and run the Web Dynpro ABAP application as an iView within the portal.

I just went through a simple tutorial for building a simple Web Dynpro. I created the URL, activated all. We are new to Dynpros. Does basis need to do additional config? I get an error message when I test:             (Thank-You)

Web Dynpro Model Generation for Application Services

Hi Experts,
I'm currently experimenting with the new functionality provided by CE, but there is one thing that I can't seem to figure out. How does the new Web Dynpro model generation work with regards to CAF Application Services? I'm trying to call an application service from a web dynpro application, but it seems as if models are completely different from Netweaver 7.0. What type of model do I need to create? Do I have to expose the application services as web services?
I've tried creating an EJB model and then binding the model to the context, but I kept receiving null pointer exceptions when doing this and I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do this. Can anybody point me to some good documentation on Web Dynpro/CAF interaction in CE?

Hi JP,
You are right, the CAF models are completely different in NW CE 7.1 compared to NW 7.0.
CAF Application Services in CE 7.1 are in fact EJBs. So the EJB model importer is the way to go. You can find <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/dd45e4bc295595e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm">documentation</a> and some <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/45/f7f744aea471fae10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm">tutorials</a> on help.sap.com. If you still have troubles after you go thru these, please post your concrete issues and I'm sure we'll be able to figure out what's been going wrong.

Web Dynpro access Application Services directly?

We're looking at implementing some processes using Guide Procedures, and I have a question about design 'style'.
I'm creating a data layer using Entity Services. The entity services will be utilized by the Application Services to create a business layer. How to do this is clear, and straightforward.
However, where I have a question is how the automatically generated Web Dynpro application (or any other Web Dynpro application, for that matter) can interact with Application Services. I've seen sample applications where the Web Dynpro application interacts with application services via mapping from the Web Dynpro interface layer through the GP Runtime - from my perspective, this looks like a good way to deal with a small amount of data being passed between the steps in the GP.
The primary Web Dynpro application will let the user interact with the data, massaging it until it's in a form where the next person needs to deal with it. I was thinking of having the Web Dynpro application interact with the Application Services layer directly to move data from the database to the web dynpro application, and back again. The only thing that would be passed between the steps in the GP would be the guid of the primary data structure. I would also expose a method of the Application Service as a CO which would take the guid and return the entire business object, so viewing screens could be constructed - as well, PDF's could be generated, and so on.
Is this considered bad form in a GP, specifically accessing Application Services directly, instead of through a step in the GP? I understand that what I want to do ties the Web Dynpro application directly to the Application Services layer, but my thinking is that the CO that encompasses the Web Dynpro should be 'atomic', in that all operations related to that specific step should be contained in a single CO. In other words, the action of creating the business object, fiddling with it, an then submitting it upstream should be contained in one CO.

      In the Composite Application Framework scenario, you first create the Business Entities. These act as data holder. To fill the data within these entities the Application services are created. These application services are later exposed as a webservice and deployed.
               These webservices can contain different methods along with the CRUD operations depending on the Process Flow and Design implemented. We can import the webservices as a model in the WebDynPro Component. The UI elements of the Views can be binded to the Model. So when we execute the model methods the data gets entered into the Business objects.
               This WebDynPro component should be a callable object ( It requires some Dependencies to be added to the WebDynPro Component ). So that you can have Input/Output parameters and ResultStates. These parameters are useful if you have to pass some parameters from one view to other within the same component. So this WebDynPro Callable object includes the Application service calls and also the passing of data through the GP Input/Output Structures.
               These callable objects are then included within the Process.
This is how I think a Composite Application must be designed.

-     Im able to start the application out of the Web Dynpro content manager with run => only the user interface is displayed without any functionality
-     The normal start over the NWDS fails => error text

There two different URLs in use.

Problem of Creating a web dynpro application based on a car rental web serv

Based original SAP developer studio examples shipped with the developer studio, I first create J2EE application QuickCarRental. It works at http://192.168.254.4:50300/QuickCarRental.
A web service QuickCarRentalWebService is defined in J2EE application QuickCarRental. My web dynpro application TutWD_CarRental is web service consumer invoking QuickCarRentalWebService.
When I deploy TutWD_CarRental on SAP J2EE engine and run the application at http://192.168.254.4:50300/webdynpro/dispatcher/local/TutWD_CarRental/CarRentalApp, i can see the web dynpro web application interface right.
however, I get the following error when I input some data and Click button rent a car.
Service call exception; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (404) Not Found.
when i click Display all bookings, the error is:

I install SAP developer studio on my winXP desktop, and the SAP developer studio version is 2.0.10.

could anybody give me some clue on this. is that because i miss some configurations on SAP server for enabling web services of QuickCarRentalWebService?

Create portal user using web dynpro abap application

Dear All,
I would like to know is it possible to create portal user-id through web dynpro abap application.
My requirement is
> I have to create a web dynpro abap application. In the web dynpro abap application I have name email-id and phone number as entry fields.
> I will click on submit, one unique id will get created. This unique id will be the login id for portal.
I found how to create portal user using web dynpro java, but i could not find regarding web dynpro abap.
If it is possible to create the portal users using web dynpro abap pls share the code as well.

Search for users in a particular LDAP through Web Dynpro code...

Hi Experts,
Let me try explaining my problem. In my project we are using two ADAM LDAPs. One for storing internal users and the other for storing external users. I have configured the portal to connect to both the LDAPs. I am able to search for the users created in both the LDAPs through portal Indentity Management.
I am trying to search for the users in a specific LDAP through Web Dynpro coding... I am not lucky enough to get it done. Let me explain you what I did.
I created a custom attribute for UME through config tool. Gave a physical mapping for the custom attribute in dataSourceConfig_xxx.xml to the LDAP attribute distinguishedName which returns the distinguished Name for the user in ADAM LDAP.
For Example: Custom attribute in UME is ldapuser which is mapped to distinguishedName attribute in ADAM LDAP in dataSourceConfig_xxx.xml.
When I do a search for the users in a particular LDAP, I am trying to put a filter to the newly created ldapuser attribute to distinguish between the two LDAPs.
The search will result if I pass the value as '*'. If I try to specify the user path for the LDAP in this attribute it doesnt result any data.
For example:
userSearchFilter.setSearchAttribute(

The above code will not return the data, whereas

I just figured it out. Under "group-policy GroupPolicy_COMPANY_SSL_VPN attributes", I had to add "vpn-simultaneous-logins 15". Apparently, it was using the value "vpn-simultaneous-logins 0" under the NOACCESS group policy.
