Appropriate Community for a Query

Being new to this community website I posted the following in the iWeb Community.  I thought that referred to Apple's Website but as I was rebuked for posting there it clearly is not!  Those who rebuked me for 'tresspassing' did not identify an alternative community.
Could anyone advise in which is the appropriate community for me to post this query?
Apple Contact Form: Email address area too small
I am not sure this is in the correct forum.
I have tried to use the contact form at http://www.apple.com/legal/contact/ to report a matter to Apple but the number of characters which the form allows me to put into the space for my email address is limited.  The amount is too few for my email address.
Can anyone tell me why there needs to be a limitation on the number of characters for this aspect?
Can anyone tell me how someone like me - who has an email address longer than the alocated quota - can use this form or contact Apple by email?
As far as I know the Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 requires among other things that the email address of the service provider must be given. It is not sufficient to include a 'contact us' form without also providing an email address.

I'm so sorry that was your initial experience with a great support forum.  All of us here are just other Mac users helping each other find solutions.  For someone to be rude to any other poster is very much frowned on here.

  • Appropriate index for a query with 3 ands

    Hi,
    I have the following table:
    PAGES
    BOOK_ID DIMENSION BEGIN_POS END_POS PAGE_TEXT
    where book_id is 64-bits, dimension is 32-bits, begin_pos is 32-bits, end_pos is 32-bits, and page_text is a blob (UTF-8)
    My query is:
    select * from PAGES
    where BOOK_ID = 1234 and DIMENSION = -2 and BEGIN_POS <= 10000 and 10000 < END_POS
    Which is sure to return 1 result.
    My question is what kind of (multi-column?) index or indices do I need for this query whose WHERE clause uses 4 columns?
    Thanks,
    Andy

    book_id is 64-bits, dimension is 32-bits, begin_pos is 32-bits, end_pos is 32-bitsI'm sorry, I don't understand how a column could be 64-bits an other one 32-bits, the wordsize is for all the database. Well, I maybe miss the point.
    My question is what kind of (multi-column?) index or indices do I need for this query whose WHERE clause uses 4 columns?That really depend, but you should not base your index creation on one query, but more than that. Maybe book_id is a unique key, then have a PK on it could be nice. For the other columns, it is difficult, they don't mean nothing for me.

  • Looking for a query to find first/last dates in overlapping dates...

    Hi,
    I'm looking for a query to find the first dates and last dates in a table conaining overlapping dates.
    I have a subscription table which has for each Customer start and end date for different subscriptions.
    I want to know the different ranges of date where there is subscriptions active.
    so if the table has this:
    CustID, Start date, end date
    1, 2008-01-01, 2012-06-06
    1 ,2009-01-01, 2011-01-01
    1, 2011-01-01, 2013-02-02
    1, 2013-01-01, 2013-08-08
    1, 2014-01-01, 2014-04-04
    I want to produce this result:
    custid, range start, range end
    1, 2008-01-01, 2013-08-08
    1, 2014-01-01, 2014-04-04
    the first row is the range identified from the 4 rows in my subscription table.
    thanks :)

    However I assume you are using sqlplus
    If this is the case define the _EDITOR variable to one of the following as appropriate ....
    DEFINE _EDITOR=notepad

  • Sharepoint 2013 support for power query

    Hi,
    I wanted to know whether SharePoint 2013 supports power query and can we refresh power query data from excel services.
    Thanks,
    Bhawna.

    Hi Bhawna.,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know whether SharePoint 2013 support Power Query and refresh power query data from excel services.
    The  refresh of workbooks involving Power Query queries isn't currently available in SharePoint 2013.

  • Getting column names for a Query resultList?

    For a Query created via EntityManager.createQuery("some qlString here"), where the query language string picks out individual properties (so select p.firstName, p.lastName from Person p), is there any way to get the property names of the things retrieved?
    I'm trying to allow an end user to define JPA queries by storing the query language string persistently, and then (after some rudimentary checking) create a Query from it, hosted (at this point) in a JTable. It would be nice if there were a way to wire up the items returned by the query such that the JTable columns were "titled" with something appropriate.
    Otherwise I have to either (a) parse the QL string (yuck yuck yuck) or (b) somewhat redundantly have the user specify the columns/properties/related objects that they think they're retrieving.
    Thanks,
    Laird

  • Can I Specify an Oracle Hint for a Query

    We are BW 3.1 Oracle 9.2.  We have a few InfoCube queries that would perform better if a full table scan on the fact table was done rather than using the system generated Star Transformation hint.
    When use RSRT or other entry points to see the SQL and the Explain plan, I have the option of putting in an Oracle hint and generating another Explain Plan.
    Is there any way to save the query with a different Oracle hint than the Star Transformation hint?

    Klaus -
    Thanks for responding.
    It is only a handful of queries that this is an issue with.  Overall, we are certainly better off using the star transformation.
    Do you know the reasoning behind letting you specify a hint when running a query through RSRV if you can never actually specify those hints for actual production execution? Is the ability to add a hint anything that we might see in the future?
    In looking into this a little more, I looked at an explain plan for a query on one of our transactional InfoCubes.  We are Oracle 9.2, and transactional Infocubes have B-tree indices rather than bitmap on the F fact table.  Presumably to better support the input of transactions.  I see in the explain plan that with the star transformation, the btree indices are converted to  bitmap, then a bitmap merge, then the result of that is converted back to a btree index to read the F fact table.  Without the star transformation, the query cost is half, so the ability to suppress the star transformation on F fact queries on transactional cubes would also be nice.
    At another job, I used to use Brio to query a data warehouse and although Brio didn't have facility to specify a hint, you could define a calculated field in the query and actually enter the hint text as the calculation and as long as that field was the first to follow the Select stmt, it was recognized as an Oracle hint.  Maybe there could be some way to sneak a hint into the query.  It's not something you would want every query developer doing, but as long as someone knew when it was appropriate to override/surpress star transformation, it would be nice to be able to do.

  • Help needed for writing query

    help needed for writing query
    i have the following tables(with data) as mentioned below
    FK*-foregin key (SUBJECTS)
    FK**-foregin key (COMBINATION)
    1)SUBJECTS(table name)
    SUB_ID(NUMBER) SUB_CODE(VARCHAR2) SUB_NAME (VARCHAR2)
    2           02           Computer Science
    3           03           Physics
    4           04           Chemistry
    5           05           Mathematics
    7           07           Commerce
    8           08           Computer Applications
    9           09           Biology
    2)COMBINATION
    COMB_ID(NUMBER) COMB_NAME(VARCHAR2) SUB_ID1(NUMBER(FK*)) SUB_ID2(NUMBER(FK*)) SUB_ID3(NUMBER(FK*)) SUBJ_ID4(NUMBER(FK*))
    383           S1      9           4           2           3
    384           S2      4           2           5           3
    ---------I actually designed the ABOVE table also like this
    3) a)COMBINATION
    COMB_ID(NUMBER) COMB_NAME(VARCHAR2)
    383           S1
    384           S2
    b)COMBINATION_DET
    COMBDET_ID(NUMBER) COMB_ID(FK**) SUB_ID(FK*)
    1               383          9
    2               383          4
    3               383          2
    4               383          3
    5               384          4
    6               384          2
    7               384          5
    8               384          3
    Business rule: a combination consists of a maximum of 4 subjects (must contain)
    and the user is less relevant to a COMB_NAME(name of combinations) but user need
    the subjects contained in combinations
    i need the following output
    COMB_ID COMB_NAME SUBJECT1 SUBJECT2      SUBJECT3      SUBJECT4
    383     S1     Biology Chemistry      Computer Science Physics
    384     S2     Chemistry Computer Science Mathematics Physics
    or even this is enough(what i actually needed)
    COMB_ID     subjects
    383           Biology,Chemistry,Computer Science,Physics
    384           Chemistry,Computer Science,Mathematics,Physics
    you can use any of the COMBINATION table(either (2) or (3))
    and i want to know
    1)which design is good in this case
    (i think SUB_ID1,SUB_ID2,SUB_ID3,SUB_ID4 is not a
    good method to link with same table but if 4 subjects only(and must) comes
    detail table is not neccessary )
    now i am achieving the result by program-coding in C# after getting the rows from oracle
    i am using oracle 9i (also ODP.NET)
    i want to know how can i get the result in the stored procedure itsef.
    2)how it could be designed in any other way.
    any help/suggestion is welcome
    thanks for your time --Pradeesh

    Well I forgot the table-alias, here now with:
    SELECT C.COMB_ID
    , C.COMB_NAME
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID1) AS SUBJECT_NAME1
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID2) AS SUBJECT_NAME2
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID3) AS SUBJECT_NAME3
    , (SELECT SUB_NAME
    FROM SUBJECTS
    WHERE SUB_ID = C.SUB_ID4) AS SUBJECT_NAME4
    FROM COMBINATION C;
    As you need exactly 4 subjects, the columns-solution is just fine I would say.

  • Multiple Queries in Workbook - Refresh Screen Shows Up for Every Query

    We have multiple queries in a workbook.  All of these queries have the exact same selections for the variable selection screen.  When all the queries are refreshed once, the selection screen used to show up once and all the queries are refreshed with the same selections.
    We were on BI 7.0 and SP10.  We recently moved to SP12.  Since the SP12 installation, the multiple query refresh pops-up the selection screen for every query.  It is nothing like "multiple query refresh" at once since the user has to click "execute" button for every single query.  It is interesting to note that the selection screen only contains hierarchy variables and hierarchy node variables.  The other variables of selection screen do not show up.  I couldn't find any OSS note on this topic.  Please let me know if anyone has any comments on this issue.  I will assign points to useful posts.

  • How can i check the authorizations for a query in sap bw 3.1c

    Hi,
    While running one query i am getting warning message is  : you do not have authorization to read object ZVERSION  and few column results also not displaying.
    I would like to check is there any authorization check for this query and could you explain how we use the authorizations in our BW.
    Thanks in advance....

    if you execute su53, the authorization check failed cannot be displayed for reports. because you are executing query in BEx is it?
    for this you can trace the userid that executing query to check the authorization check failed. Go to st01 and find out the authorization check failed there.
    And you can find in RSRT too. i am not sure that.
    One more option is there to check the authorization with help of matrix that you prepared for assigning access/authorization to the users.
    Hope this would help you.

  • Is there a way to create a plan guide for this query?

    How can i create a plan guide for this query,suppose i can't change the query text:
    USE AdventureWorks2008R2;
    GO
    SET NOCOUNT ON;
    GO
    -- query plan statement starts
    DECLARE @Group nvarchar(50), @Sales money;

    SET NOCOUNT OFF;
    SELECT FirstName, LastName, SalesYTD
    FROM Sales.vSalesPerson
    WHERE TerritoryGroup = @Group and SalesYTD >= @Sales;
    -- query plan statement ends
    AdventureWorks2008R2's parameterization option is simple, i want this type of query can reuse plan:
    DECLARE @Group nvarchar(50), @Sales money;
    SET @Group = N'Other Country';
    SET @Sales = 88;
    SET NOCOUNT OFF;
    SELECT FirstName, LastName, SalesYTD
    FROM Sales.vSalesPerson
    WHERE TerritoryGroup = @Group and SalesYTD >= @Sales;
    I tried many times ,but it didn't work:
    declare @xml nvarchar(max) -- the plan i want to reuse
    set @xml = (select cast (query_plan as nvarchar(max))
    from sys.dm_exec_query_plan (0x060006001464570B405D92620200000001000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000))
    -- create plan guide
    exec sp_create_plan_guide
    @name ='Test'
    ,@stmt=N'SELECT FirstName, LastName, SalesYTD
    FROM Sales.vSalesPerson
    WHERE TerritoryGroup = @Group and SalesYTD >= @Sales;'
    ,@type =N'sql'
    ,@params =N'@Group nvarchar(50), @Sales money'
    ,@hints = @xml;
    Thanks.

    I guess you don't wanna fire these queries "adhoc" but prepared instead to reuse the plan:
    exec sp_executesql N'SELECT FirstName, LastName, SalesYTD FROM Sales.vSalesPerson WHERE TerritoryGroup = @Group and SalesYTD >= @Sales',
    N'@Group nvarchar(50), @Sales money', N'Other Country',88
    exec sp_executesql N'SELECT FirstName, LastName, SalesYTD FROM Sales.vSalesPerson WHERE TerritoryGroup = @Group and SalesYTD >= @Sales',
    N'@Group nvarchar(50), @Sales money', N'North America',2000000

  • How to select data from an aggregate in a customer exit for a query?

    Hi,
    I have written a virtual key figure customer exit for a query. Earlier the selection was from the cube, where there was severe performance issue. So I have created an aggregate, activated and have loaded the data.

    What is the way out? Please help.
    Regards,
    Annie.

    Hi Sonu,
    The main task is to move the contents of the one internal table to another with some condition.
    First sort and delete the duplicate entries from the First Internal table like below :
    sort it_tab by material ascending date_modified descending.
    delete adjacent duplicates from it_tab.
    Then move that Internal table contents to another internal table.
    Define another internal table with the same structure as you have first internal table and then
    Second Step :
    it_itab1 = it_itab.
    If you are using seperate Header line and Body then you can do like below :
           it_itab1[] = it_itab[].
    This will fix the issue.
    Please let me know if you need any further explonation.
