Apps not downloading - they start then drop out

I trawled through all the forums/discussions and questions on the support communities but are yet to find a solution.
In brief: I am overseas but usually based in the UK (not sure this will have any bearing on the issue but still), my apps on my iPhone 5 were not updating - this has happened before twice but I managed to resolved those issues those times, so I deleted them all with a  view to reinstalling. So far so good.
I did that and then when I tried to reinstall from my phone's App Store, I find that the process starts but within a minute or two I get a message telling me that the app can't download at this time. I did manage to download two apps but they other 10 or so errored in this way.
Also, I can download apps onto my Mac but they don't seem to be synching (via the Cloud)  with my phone and they used to work fine.
I've rebooted/reset and pretty done everything I can think of and still I can't download my apps.
I'm pretty much stuck because I need to download Whatsapp and Viber asap - until them I'm pretty much incommunicado.
Very much appreciate it if someone out there can shed some light.

I know this will sound pretty obvious but did you try a hard reset on your phone. Close out all the apps, hold the home and power button and do a fresh restart. Also try restarting your router. Let me explain why I'm suggesting this. My sister's phone in her place would randomly stop connecting to the app store, cancel downloads on the App store for no reason.
We tried everything, restoring it, doing a fresh install, swapped the phone out. Still nothing. Took it to my place and no issues which was even more puzzling. She couldn't even connect when on 4G. Someone suggested I do a hard reset of my router and phone at the same time. For some strange reason that solved her problem.

    Good for you that can't update your iphone because I did it and my iphone dosen't work for example I can't download any app like Wecaht or Twitter..

    Why are my apps not downloading? They just sit there waiting and I keep getting an error saying that my purchases cannot be downloaded at this time and to try again later. I have tried logging out and in, and rebooting but neither has worked

    Same problem here.  Not able to update any apps or to download new purchased music.  Doesn't work on iPad, iPhone, or iTunes.  Tried with 3G download rather than wifi on the phone and iPad.  It still hasn't worked.  I changed me credit card, but without success.
    The store is currently broken for some users, maybe all.

    What songs are they ? If it's the U2 Songs of Innocence album then that was given free to everyone a couple of months ago - you can remove it from your account if you don't want it : http://itunes.com/soi-remove
    But the cloud icon means that those songs are in the cloud, not on your phone. You can turn off the showing of all cloud music via Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Music (under the 'show all' heading) 'off'. Or you can hide individual tracks and/or albums via your computer's iTunes so that they don't show in the cloud : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases

  • 12 days of Christmas app not downloading content

    The 12 days of Christmas app not downloading content just hangs. Today's book will not download at all. Have reinstalled both app and iBook with no luck. Can still download from App Store so Internet is ok. Any suggestions?

    It seems that if your Settings->General->International->Region Format is not set specifically as Canada you will have this issue. (even if your times zone and iTunes account settings are correct...)
    Changing that setting from US to Canada was the fix for me.

    Did you receive any purchase receipt email? The order number is included in that email and you need that to be able to request for a refund.

    The iPod backup that iTunes makes includes Notes.and other app data. However, it does not included synced media like apps and music.
    Thus, just restore from backup with all your synced media in your iTunes library.

    I cannot download apps.The icons appear on the screen of my I pad3 and I phone and the "waiting" sign is indicated.Nothing then happens.

    Same issue here. Have tried reset , reboot, rest and many other things that I probably did not need to but thought why not. I can connect to iTunes though the web but the apps sit their "waiting" and then get the message that it cant connect to iTunes ???.?.?.?.?.
    May not be related but my facebook history disappeared at almost the same time. Hope this is just an unfortunate coincidence.

    I would attempt to sign out and sign back in from the App Store, then try to redownload it.

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. There are two things to try. The first is to Power down and Restart the phone.
    Restarting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    The second would be to go back into the iTunes app  > More > Purchases  > Music., then click the cloud icon to download the song. The following article will provide additional assistance.

  • Mail.app not downloading email from one person

    I am using Mail.app (v2.1) on 10.4.8 with a mac.com email address setup and am having problem receiving emails from just one person - that's right only one sender.
    What happens is, the person sends the email and it arrives at the webmail interface (i.e. I can view the email using Safari) but the emails are not downloading to Mail.app like all others i receive, I have to login to .Mac webmail to read the emails this persons is sending to me.
    At one stage while trying to solve this I had a "Rule" which would play a certain sound when email from this person arrives and Mail.app would play this sound but still didn't download the email.
    I have tried synchronising the account and rebuilding the mailbox but am still not able to get Mail.app to download these emails.

    I have had the same problem for over a year. Certian senders using my .MAC account get stuck on the .mac server. After a few days, a few of the emails may get through. Other emails to my .mac account will get through.
    For me, this started over a year ago when there was an OS update. I noticed it started on this Ibook then continued to all other MACs as the updates where made. I too have rebuilt the mailbox and synced the accounts.

Then after trying many things, I updated to version 5.1 and then could get my podcast downloads.  BUT then I could not get any SOUND to my music only.  So I RESET my IPOD touch this morning and the music sound worked , but then could NOT get my podcast to download again !  What happened?

    It sounds like you are unable to update or download apps. They appear to get stuck or otherwise become unresponsive. I have a few recommendations to try here. First, close all the open apps on the device:
    iOS: Force an app to close

    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that, sign out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes and App stores, and restart the phone and re test the issue:
