Apps really slow to delete

Ive noticed this for a while on my iphone 4 (IOS 5.1) that it takes about 20 - 30 seconds from when i click on the shaking x to actually get the prompt come up saying are you sure you want to delete this app.
Ive got plenty of space left on the iphone (about 1.7GB) so im a little bit confused on why its so slow to delete any app.

I have an att iphone 4s on iOS 5.1.1 (9B206) with 2.2GB available, 56 apps installed, and I'm having the same issue as described above where it takes about 30 seconds to delete an app.  Another strange thing is that once I delete one app, if I delete more, they delete immediately without that delay.  I have tried the reset and restart and that has not helped, any other suggestions?

  • 4.2.1 update makes deleting/moving apps REALLY slow

I d/l lots of apps and consequently move/delete them often. Ever since updating to 4.2.1, my iPhone has like a 4-5 second additional delay when initiating the move/delete process and hitting home to end the process. It freaked me out the first time because I thought my iPhone froze up.
    Anyone else notice this?
I don't see a lot of useful benefits from the upgrade, just nagging issues like this... Please fix!

Put 8 apps maximum per folder. So what's the use of folders that could contain 12 apps ?
I hope Apple will solve this issue in the next update. As someone in a forum told it's a well known bug by Apple.
Apparently you have a rouge app somewhere. I have 16 folders on one screen and some of the folders are maxed out with 12 apps and I am not having this problem you are describing. Have you done a hard reset (holding down the home and sleep/wake button together ignoring the slide to power off until it turns off)? Doesn't sound like you did because you said you did a soft reset (holding down the sleep wake button then sliding the slide to power off). A soft reset will only power it down but saves everything in memory so when you power it back up it is exactly the way you left it when you turned it off. The hard reset reboots the phone completely.

  • Cant open apps, really slow, really long pauses, error 50 messages (i don't think it's in root user it didn't give a disable option)??

Hi! My macbook pro is barely working suddenly and I dont know whats wrong. It's not allowing me to open most programs or only one at a time, even trying to type a sentence it keeps pausing for moments at a time. I have recieved error 50 messages about most tasks. This just started today and I tried to disable root user but it wasn't enabled or didn't give an option. If anyone has suggestions or similar problem today I'd really appreciate it! Thanks,
    Amber

    Hi Amber,
Any changes recently, hardware or software?
Do you have at least 15% free space on your HD?
Is your RAM being recognized? (Apple menu > About This Mac > More Info > Hardware > Memory)
Have you looked in Activity Monitor?
Sometimes a process can run amok and use more of the CPU than it should, potentially causing a slowdown and/or heat issues and/or other issues. To check on this, first use your Mac as you normally would, the longer the better (checking this right after starting up may not show you anything). After you’ve used your Mac for awhile (again, the longer the better), go to Applications > Utilities > open Activity Monitor > in the top menu at right, select All Processes in the drop down menu > click on the column heading titled % CPU (this will update continuously, showing the percentage each process is using) > toward the bottom left of the window, click on CPU (this will show % Idle, which will also tell you how much of the CPU is being used).
How much RAM do you have?
One way to get an idea whether more RAM will help or not, is to check Page outs and Swap used. First, use your Mac as you normally would, the longer the better (checking this right after starting up isn’t likely to show you anything). After you’ve used your Mac for awhile(again, the longer the better), go to Applications > Utilities > open Activity Monitor > in the top menu at right, select All Processes in the drop down menu > near the bottom of the window click on System Memory. If Page outs is more that about 10% of Page ins, and/or Swap used is large, chances are good that adding RAM will help. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1342
Exactly which MBP do you have?
Have you repaired permissions? Repaired disk? Reset SMC?

  • Why is my youtube app really slow on Apple TV?

Everything other apps work just fine

I agree. From what I am reading this has been an issue for quite some time, yet there doesn't seem to be any type of response from Apple yet. Is there any explanation for this? Is this an issue with Google or is it with the Apple TV?
    Anyone? Anyone?

  • Why is the SMS app so slow to load?

Is it just me or is the SMS app really slow to load?
7 seconds seems a lot to me.
    How is it for u?
How can I improve the loading time?
    Thank you

I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this problem or even acknowledge it. I have had this problem since 1.1.2. Upgrading through 1.1.3, 1.1.4 and on the 2.1 has not helped. My SMS loading time varies between 3 and 10 seconds. I maintain all my SMS messages deleted (which I should not have to do). Due to lack of support from Apple I purchased a Nokia phone for my son. At least basic phone features work like they should.

Thank you very much for your reply gdgmacguy :) I did all you suggested apart from restore as new device . Didn't know I could do that . After restore I did restore from back up only,  as I didn't want to end up without contacts details on my phone. If I restore as new device how do I get my all contacts? Still will have to use back up? Sorry if it sounds like I don't know what i am doing, i just have no one to ask who would know. Thank you

  • My iPod touch 4 generation 32gb sometimes is really slow and when ever I get on a app it will shut it down. My lock botton is broken and I use the accesery botton to lock it. That being said I can't power down my iPod. I need help, I don't know what to do

My iPod touch 4 generation 32gb sometimes is really slow. When ever my iPod is being slow and I get on an app the app will shut down. My lock botton is broken and I use the accesery botton to lock it. That being said I can't power down my iPod. I need help, I don't know what to do! Could you tell me how I can power down my iPod or how I can fix the slowness and the shutting down of the apps.

    - Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.
    - Next, reset the iPod
To reset the iPod without the hardware buttons,
Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. All your wifi and bluetooth preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected. You will have to rejoin wifi networks and repair BT devices
    Then you can try:
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
      - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • My iPad is running really slow, and I can't connect to my iTunes account or App Store ,keeps saying can't connect to server ,but have another iPad in house and it's working fine

My ipad is running really slow, and it will not let me connect to iTunes or App Store, but have another iPad in house which is working fine I,please help

Try a hard reset by pressing the Home button and Wake / Sleep button at the same time, keep them both pressed until the Apple Logo appears on the screen.
This does not lose any data on your iPad.

Take it somewhere that has better broadband. The best you can do sometimes is invest in new modem that works with your system instead of the rental etc in most cases.
    Do a Safe Boot.
Make sure your firewall is set properly. Don't use 3rd party. AV software can get in the way.
Make sure you are getting the service and a clean strong modem signal - slow is one thing but if it drops off and can't maintain a connection you have hardware issues, not software - and upgrade to a new OS doesn't tend to improve, it may even not work with older networking equipment once you do get it.
I agree and think electronic only goes too far. And when you do get it: burn the package and manually set it aside first before running the intaller! make a flash memory installer, put it on DVDs too.

  • Apps are really slow opening on my brand new iMac any ideas ?

Apps are really slow on my new iMac just got it out of the box and set it up and it seems to take an age to open them compared to my iPad, which is 1st generation. Any ideas ?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you also have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Updated Ipod to ios 6 now apps close without warning and seems really slow also wifi doesn't always connect

Updated my ipod touch to ios6 now apps close without warning and seems really slow to repsond. Also doesn't always connect to the Wifi never had any problems before upgrade

Try a hard reboot (hold home and power buttons down at the same time until your iPod reboots). If that doesn't work, do a restore in iTunes and do not restore from backup. You wqill lose your game data and settings, but your iPod should run better and work properly.

First Reset it: hold down the home and sleep buttons, wait for the Apple logo, let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work Restore it from a backup in iTunes.
If that doesn't work Restore it as a new device and manually load your apps, music, etc.

  • My ipad 2 is really slow and it wont open app store or safari

my ipad 2 is really slow and it wont open app store or safari but i dont understand why?

Or a reset of the iPad?
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • My iMac is running REALLY slow - could my hard disc be dying?

    I have a 27" iMac with a Core i7 chip and 8GB of RAM.
It has always worked really fast with absolutely everything I have tried with it.
It worked fast in Snow Leopard. I upgraded it to Lion in September and it still worked fast (though a tiny bit slower perhaps than Snow Leopard).
In the last week, the machine's speed has slowed to an absolute crawl and I am almost constantly getting the spinning beach ball.
By a crawl, I mean that opening iTunes can take five minutes. Opening the Applications folder inside Finder can take five minutes. During times of this slowness, the spinning beach ball animates and I can move the mouse cursor, but I cannot get any response from the machine.
The machine is so slow that it is basically unuseable - I cannot wait five minutes to open a document!
What is really odd is that the computer will be really slow for 4-5 minutes, and then for perhaps 40 seconds or so I will get maybe one minute where things work at normal speed, before the speed drops back to a crawl.
Even restarting the computer takes an age.
My theory is that something in the computer has malfunctioned - either the motherboard or the hard disc.
I have run a few disc utilities (Disk Utility, Apple Hardware Diagnostic, TechTool 5), and the SMART status of the hard disc appears to be good and all reports check back successfully - although they all take longer than I'd expect. Whether that means the hard disc is really fine or not, I'm not clear.
I had one other hard disc die on me once, and that just died and was gone, but if my hard disc is dying then the problem it is showing is intermittent, i.e. it is only working part of the time.
At present I am making a backup of the iMac hard disc by having booted the iMac in Firewire Target Disk mode and manually copying files across. However, so far it has only managed 1GB of about 432GB and is estimating that it will take 2 days to complete the task.
Has anybody got any advice - is the hard disc or the motherboard a likely culprit?
The machine is under warranty at least, but I can't figure out whether to drag the machine into an Apple Store, or to phone AppleCare and get them to pick it up. If the machine would be repaired while I waited at the Apple Store then that would be great but I doubt this would happen.
    Any advice?
P.S. I checked for runaway processes... nothing to find in Activity Monitor. CPU is about 5% max. Lots of free RAM. Hard disc is only half full.

How do you load lion onto an exteranl disk and boot from it as I would like to give that a try.
I presume its an external usb drive?
    thanks
    Hi,
I used an external hard disc - Western Digital MyBook 500GB drive.
All you do is run the Lion installer, which you can redownload from the Mac App Store if you've bought it. As part of the Lion installer it asks which drive you want to install to.
To save having to redownload the Lion installer every time, once the download has completed from the Mac App Store, but before you have run the installation process, you can extract the disc image and retain it for future use (if you don't extract the disc image, then it gets deleted at the end of the installation process and you'd have to redownload it again next time).
