April "awesome idea" 2009 Screenshots

Posting Guidelines
· DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:
$ cp screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
$ mogrify -resize 20% thumb-screenie.png
Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies.  You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:
http://my.site.com/thumb-screenie.png
This displays the thumbnail as a link to the screenie like this:
http://dtw.jiwe.org/share/screenies/thumb-screenie.png
· Several websites also offer free image hosting, of these ImageShack is very popular and does a neat auto thumbnail:
Use the "Thumbnail for forums" link code that is supplied by ImageShack to post your thumbnail link.
· Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads.
· If the screenshot has questionable material that might not be safe to view while at work or in a school setting, please post only a link and not a thumbnail, along with a mention of "Not Safe for Work". Posts that do not adhere to this are subject to deletion without notice at any time.
· Please try to include any links to your wallpaper or configs that you may have and/or the names of your icon theme, running apps, DE, etc. in the same post to reduce unnecessary clutter later.

wallpaper autoupdates with a new radar summary of the US every 10 minutes.  Goes nicely with my aviation related weather stuff in conky
Thats really cool. Could you give some details on where you are sourcing this image from or even the script your using to continually update it?
It looks like the map on NOAA's website but your color scheme is much less headache provoking.
EDIT: realized I might as well post a screen shot. Heres my DWM. Unfortunately this isn't arch.....but my *nix-ing style follows arch philosophies

I'm gonna post all my configs on one of those hosting sits tomorrow and put a link in my sig.
yep you're right it is from the NOAA website.  I just did a couple transformations, becuase like you said the original colorscheme is less than ideal. I'll post the little script i made below, i just have it on a cronjob that updates every ten minutes.  It basically just takes the negative of the image, than makes the water color transparent so you can make anything you want under the wallpaper preferences.

Hi
I have access to nearly 10,000 SAP related industry presentations from various sources which I have been collecting over the years.  I intend to provide links to the BI related presentations which are freely available.  I have started with a post to this forum.
In regards to user group information in Australia I have been on the SAP Australian User Group executive for a number of years.  SAP University Alliance members pay approximately $AUD500 annual membership for the user group.  We have created best ERP student prizes ($500) for these university members so the membership dues are indirectly returned to the universities.  It is up to each university to determine how they award these prizes.  The best students are listed on the user group web site (www.saug.com.au).  This encourages university membership in the user group and raises the profile of the user group with students.  Approximately 50% of the university alliance members in Australia are members of the user group.
In addition I facilitate staff and students contact with member companies for the purpose of research.  This tends to be in the format of interviews at our events rather than surveys.
We also utilise university staff at the user group events to conduct education sessions as a foundation to some of SAP's solutions.  For example data mining 101, business process modelling 101, MRP 101.  This brings academia and industry closer in the SAP ecosystem.
I hope this provides some ideas for the ASUG collaboration

A simple Gnome laptop... Clean and effective in my opinion.
Clean :
Dirty :
If you want to know, this is the code I added (http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=66479) to my ~/.bashrc for the colored prompt :
colors=("\[\e[0;30m\]" "\[\e[0;34m\]" "\[\e[0;32m\]" "\[\e[0;36m\]" "\[\e[0;31m\]" "\[\e[0;35m\]" "\[\e[0;33m\]" "\[\e[0;37m\]" "\[\e[1;30m\]" "\[\e[1;34m\]" "\[\e[1;32m\]" "\[\e[1;36m\]" "\[\e[1;31m\]" "\[\e[1;35m\]" "\[\e[1;32m\]" "\[\e[1;37m\]")
PROMPT_COMMAND='let R=$RANDOM%16+0;color=${colors[$R]};PS1="${color}\u@\h:\w\$\[\e[0m\] "'
But be sure to delete the current PS1="whatever" before adding this code.

The PekWM theme is Stippled and the GTK theme is Murreza. Applications are Thunar, CPlay (cplay-mplayer package), and Comix. The transparency is just a little keybinding I have for transset-df.
You can find the wallpaper here and the icon theme here.
how do you put that scrot output at the bottom line?

• Forums closed for maintenance/upgrades – April 3 – 5, 2009

The Adobe Online Forums will be closed from 3pm (Pacific
Time) on Friday April 3 through the weekend. We will re-open new
forums on April 6. Thank you for your patience during this forum
outage.

Hi Yenelli
Sorry, but to be quite honest with you... The forum search
feature sucks cheese in a sandstorm. If you look at the links that
are produced, you will find that they look something like this:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=65&catid=449&threadid =1385287&highlight_key=y&keyword1=images
But if you trim off the last bit where it says:
&highlight_key=y&keyword1=images
So it leaves behind only:
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/webforums/forum/messageview.cfm?forumid=65&catid=449&threadid =1385287
The link should then work.
I've reported to Adobe and others have reported to Adobe. Yet
the issue remains. Adobe sees no issue they can duplicate, even
though all of us report issues with it.
As for the image issue, one way to handle it is to simply
save the images external from Word and add them as a separate
process.

Ok, so I do not know how plausible this would be but it would be awesome if it were possible. With today's technology i think it would be. Anyway, I had this thought as i was writing down a major plot point to my story and the phone rang. Well I didn't get it cause i was in the middle of something. SO then i had this thought. WHAT IF THERE A BUTTON YOU COULD PRESS WHEN DIALING A NUMBER THAT GAVE YOU THE CHOICE TO MAKE IT AN URGENT CALL OR A REGULAR CALL...then the other phone that would be ringing would ring faster, or in a different ring tone if it were urgent, and regularly if it was a regular call. YOU SEE? PROBLEM SOLVED! Now, thats even better than caller ID.

Everyone making a call thinks their call is urgent so you'd end up with a lot of people saying their call was urgent when it is not.

Posting Guidelines
* DO NOT post full resolution screenshots!  You can use the "mogrify" command (pacman -S imagemagick) to make a thumbnail of your screenshot:
$ cp screenie.png thumb-screenie.png
$ mogrify -resize 20% thumb-screenie.png
Twenty percent of the original size is great for 1024x768 screenies.  You can then upload these images to your server and use the following code to show them on the forum:

* Several websites also offer free image hosting. Here are some that supports thumbnails:
ImageShack | xs.to | iPICTURE | Omploader | ImageHosting | Imagebam
*** Screenshot changed. The old one was with "Error 404 - Not Found"" ***
Use the "Thumbnail for forums" link code that is supplied by the image hosting sites to post your thumbnail link.
* Once the new month begins please do not post new screenies in the old threads.
* If the screenshot has questionable material that might not be safe to view while at work or in a school setting, please post only a link and not a thumbnail, along with a mention of "Not Safe for Work". Posts that do not adhere to this are subject to deletion without notice at any time.
* Please try to include any links to your wallpaper or configs that you may have and/or the names of your icon theme, running apps, DE, etc. in the same post to reduce unnecessary clutter later.

• J ust had a awesome idea!

Wouldn't it be cool if you could make game levels for mini golf or vortex in Itunes?
I seriously think Apple should consider that. the levels get stupid after like a week of playing the same ones.
I'm not a computer expert so if this is impossible then forget I ever said it.

• I got an awesome idea for apple earbuds how do i tell apple or call or something what do I do

Aany one got an old iPod or Mac or apple tv or iMac any thing old from iPod And is willing to give it away for free please answer please

Choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.
