APT updating SOAP vs OAPI

In certain circumstances, updates made in the GroupWise client to a child instance of a reoccurring posted appointment date are not reflected on the BlackBerry smartphone.
We ran similar tests where instead of changing the date we changed the time, these appointments were updated correctly. We also tested if you "drag and drop" the appointment instead of using the "Post" button to save changes. It seemed that these tests were also successful. We suspect that this inconsistency is either an issue with GroupWise, or the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and GWITEMINFO are reading the property of the posted appointment incorrectly somehow.
Minimum steps to reproduce:
1. Activate a user on BESG 5.0.1 MR5(POA/GWC 8.0.2 HP3)
2. Create a series of posted appointments in GWC and wait for synchronization with device
3. Using the GroupWise client, open one of the child instances
4. Click the calendar icon
5. Select a new date for the appointment(Change from 11/10/2011 to 11/11/2011)
6. Click "Post" to save changes
7. Observe that the posted appointment is not updated on the device.

[POA XML]
<gwt:startDate>2011-11-11T20:00:00Z</gwt:startDate>
<gwt:endDate>2011-11-11T21:00:00Z
We can see that in the POA XML logging the startDate and endDate are updateing correctly and that the POA sends ItemModify SOAP Event to the BES. however all BES does is updates the modify time of the apt. When using RIM's GWITEMINFO Tool we can see that the Start Date and End Date are still showing the old dates. Note that GWITEMINFO uses oAPI to connect to GroupWise.
Although we are not looking for support on BES we would like to know why are we seeing a inconsistence between updating a Child Posted Apt using within the properties of the apt vs. just dragging the apt to a new date. We also found that if you leave the date alone and just switch the time of an apt everything works as expected. Does OPAI read different attributes of an item then SOAP does?

The OAPI reads the same values, but the OAPI is not actively updated. We
only make selective changes to the OAPI (such as crashes). All new
development is only done on the SOAP API.

  • Can't find where to update SOAP header request on a Web Service

    Hello,
    I am consuming a certain Web Service from a remote Server and succefully created a client proxy for it.
    This Web Service requires a String parameter (which is the licence key) to be inserted in the SOAP request header. I've searched at the client proxy I created under Virtual Interface, Web Service Definition and under Web Service Configuration but couldn't find an option which allows me to modify the SOAP header request.
    At this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/a2/99af4e693dee43a0519e029549647b/content.htm
    There is an explanation on how to transfer existing request parameters from the SOAP body to the SOAP header, but I want to add the header new parameter except the exsiting parameters the Web Service request expects.
    I can of course write the request myself but than I loose the whole wizard advantage...
    Can someone please tell me where can I find it?

    Ralph Landry1, your link just sends them to the links I provided.

  • Need help in troubleshooting communication channel using soap adapter

    Hello friends
    I have a simple scenario.
    I have created 2 communication channels, one for searching a record and another for updating it with a new value
    Both uses SOAP as sender and RFC as receiver with a Standard BAPI.
    Everything was working ok, but without any changes, all of a suddent I am not being able to update the values and when I checked RWB, I see for Update SOAP Adapter Channel, the messages say
    Request received for a channel
    but in a second it says 'Call Failed'.
    I haven't made any changes.
    I even tried restarting XI and ERP servers but still getting the same error.
    Any suggestions or feedback will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

  • 11g Native Web Services Core Dump ( qmuwsPrintPackWSDL() )

    I know that native PL/SQL web services are newer functionality, but I have not been able to find any information on the following issue on MetaLink or here on the forums. When creating 11g native web services when attempting to retrieve the WSDL documents from the server the document is only partially served (estimated at about 2/3rds) or not at all (blank document returned).

    Hi,
    I guess one of the biggest advantages of the WS Adapter is the support for WS Reliable Messaging.
    Here are some documentations about this Adapter:

    any idea?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Naveen
    Thanks for your reply...
    Actaully previously sender channel was working fine, i just updated the default namespace in the channel.
    I was getting the error because of wrong namespace in channel (Case sensitive).
    So i updated this name space and after activation i am getting above message while testing.

  • SharePoint NTLM web service from LC process problem

    Hello all,
    I'm struggling to get a LiveCycle process to update an internal SharePoint list via its NTLM Windows authenticated web service.
    As you can see from the above, the schema definition is loaded no problem, and I can select the operation I want to run.  I've used the "Test" tab to attempt to send a request to update the list:
    Attempting to test the web service call (in Workbench) gives errors in the UI along with the server.log all to do with authentication problems.  It's worth mentioning at this point that the "User name" and "Password" boxes on the Settings have been left blank in the screenshot.  I have tried all possible combinations here, and the error messages in the log differ for each scenario, demonstrated below:
    Error in UI for all:
    Various Server.log errors:
    Blank Username / Password
    Which made me think, "I'll add a test AD username / password" and see what happens..
    With Username / Password
    Of course, "I'll add the domain before the username" and try again...
    With Username / Password (DOMAIN\Username & Password) - (tried both fully qualified domain & shortened)
    But.. It's still asking for the DOMAIN?
    The solution for now:
    In the meantime, I've resorted to enabling BASIC authentication on the SharePoint site, which accepts the request and returns a response, but realistically we don't want to enable this for a production environment.  It also doesn't help explain what the underlying issue is with LC, or even if it's a LC issue at all!
    I eagerly await some experienced person to help with knowledge on the subject..
    Thanks,
    Alex

    Our issue may be unrelated, but you will probably encounter issues with some of SP's native web services.
    I am also trying to set up processes in LC that insert list items into sharepoint, however some of SP's services in lists.asmx dont seem to have a properly exposed wsdl. I am able to get list items to properly insert (see below), and our server is set up with basic auth right now (behind the firewall).
    Once you get the right creds. over basic, do you have any issues publishing content (specifically using updatelistitems)?

  • SR: Calling Web Services from PL/SQL gives http 500 errors

    Hi, people from Oracle Support sent me to this forum.
    I'm trying to call the Calendar Web Services from PL/SQL using the utl_http package, but I'm getting http-500 errors.
    I'm using the example from http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/webservices/htdocs/samples/dbwebservice/DBWebServices_PLSQL.html
    Here's the code
    procedure showHtml
    as
    req soap_rpc.request;
    resp soap_rpc.response;
    BEGIN
    req := soap_rpc.new_request('cwsl:NoOp',
    'xmlns:cwsl="http://www.oracle.com/WebServices/Calendaring/1.0/"');
    resp := soap_rpc.invoke(req,
    'http://nllx004.nl.oracle.com/ocws-bin/ocas.fcgi',
    dbms_output.put_line(resp.doc.getStringVal());
    END;
    Can anyone help?

    I am new to web services and am having trouble getting the utl_http.set_header call to work using pl/sql. listed below is the code.

  • Problem updating a SOAP Web Service with ArrayCollection

    Hello,
    I am having issues POST'ing an ArrayCollection to a C# Web
    Method. Here's how I have my application set up:
    I have a DataGrid in my application and set the dataProvider
    to be the result object of a Web Service operation. I set the
    DataGrid's editable property to "true" and would like to be able to
    edit the data and send off the DataGrid's dataProvider as the
    parameter for the Web Method. If I edit the first row of the
    DataGrid and trigger the operation, it gets saved just fine. If I
    try to edit any other row this way, it keeps sending the same
    packet (as verified by a packet sniffer) not allowing me to update
    any other row. It seems the Web Service is sending the first 255
    characters of the serialized ArrayCollection.
    My questions are: why is this happening?
    and
    How can I fix this?
    Here is the request of my Web Service operation:
    <mx:request xmlns="">
    <GlossaryTerms>
    {GlossaryArrayCollection}
    </GlossaryTerms>
    </mx:request>
    This is the definition of GlossaryArrayCollection:
    [Bindable]
    public var GlossaryArrayCollection:ArrayCollection = new
    ArrayCollection();
    Here is the SOAP packet that the C# Web Method is expecting:

  • SOAP to RFC Scenario (automatic updation)

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement, i.e we have a web system. In that gold rates will update in every one hour.
    When ever the update will happen that should be update in SAP system via RFC call  automatically.
    Here sender side I am using SOAP adapter.
    I know the process to do the soap--rfc scenario.
    But how the gold rates will updates automatically in SAP system, with out triggering some one?
    can any one guide me to do this scenario.......
    Thanks in advance......

    Hi Maridu,
    yes with availibility time planning you can choose daily: monday, tuesday, not wednesday (for instance), thursday, etc.., plus for these day, a run which begins at 17:00 during 4 hours (for instance)... so to define a range, but that, it's mainly usefull with a FILE adapter as we have a polling (e.g every 60S or 3600S = 1h).
    but as you, you use a sender SOAP, and if I'm not wrong (I have not a PI under eyes just now) you have not a polling. So a solution should be to define several availibility-time plannings (one per hour) on your same sender CC. Low work effort and easy to do.
    Another solution is to not use availlibility-time planning, but to define your sender CC as "external" in "RWB -> CC monitoring", and to use an external tools (*) to trigger externally this sender CC, in fact to call an HTTP address by passing the "party | businessComponent | Sender CC" plus an action (STOP or START, this CC). There are several blogs on SDN to know how to trigger externally a CC (sender or receiver).
    (*) external tool can be a unix command (wget), or a scheduler tool (to buy) like $universe (for instance) or eventually a sap job which run an abap program which call this HTTP address.

  • Web Service (SOAP) stopped working with new update

    We've got a SOAP service that sits on a second server that
    our main flash file calls to. It's work just fine until we've
    updated to the latest Flash player 9. I've read about the Socket
    Policy file and figure that is the issue. We are on a hosted server
    and I don't have the ability to add a perl server so that it can
    serve the policy file out on a different port. We did have to add a
    crossdomain.xml file and that has been working great prior to the
    update. My question is this.
    What can I do to get the SOAP service working again without
    the ability to add the socket policy file server?
    Can I put a policy file up on the server and have it grab it
    from the http server?
    If so what does that file have to be named and where does it
    have to live?
    Why can't I find an article about this written in plain
    english? ;-)
    Thanks

    This has nothing to do with socket policy. That's specific to
    sockets.
    What is -does- have to do with is headers. You have to have a
    crossdomain.xml file on the wsdl server allowing the header
    requests to come in from your SWF.
    You need to specifically allow the SOAPAction header through
    to that same server via policy. Do NOT allow all other user-defined
    headers using a wildcard, unless you really feel comfortable with
    any possible SWF on your servers. But I’d recommend against
    it. And you don’t need to add the ‘secure’ tag as
    long as the wsdl isn’t on an https server..
    Here's an example that also covers meta-policy:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <!--DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM "
    http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd"-->
    <cross-domain-policy>
    <site-control permitted-cross-domain-policies="all" />
    <allow-access-from domain="*.bent.com" />
    <allow-http-request-headers-from domain="*.bent.com"
    headers="SOAPAction" />
    </cross-domain-policy>
    This would allow a SWF on bent.com to read wsdl from wherever
    this crossdomain.xml was served from.
    There -is- a lot of info around this. But it for sure is
    complicated and unfortunately it's something you just have to
    learn. It's especially important to know how to turn on the
    policyfile logging..
    So although it's complex english, it's still english:
