Arabic Fonts support (Oracle9i)

Hi all.
I'm working on an application and the client wants the output to be in arabic. So my question is whether arabic fonts are supported in Oracle 9i and how?

    why and how to solve

That does not sound correct.  Lion comes with 7 Arabic fonts supported by Apple apps:  Al Bayan, Baghdad, Damascus, Deco Type Naskh, Geeza Pro, Kufi Standard, Nadeem.  Plus a few others which should also work in TextEdit.
What apps are you trying to use?  MS Word for Mac has never supported Arabic.  Instead of that you should use Mellel, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, or OpenOffice.  For Adobe apps for best results you should use the special ME Version designed for RTL scripts.

  • Which font supported in Arabic language

    Hi There,
Can somebody please suggest me how to develop Arabic language course. witch font support in this language. i am using captivate 6.
    Looking forward for help.
    Thanks,
    Srikanth

Language support is outside of Captivate. As long as you have the font installed in your system, it will work in Captivate.

MS Word for Mac has never supported Arabic.  You have to use other apps.  Mellel is best, but Pages 5, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, or Open/LibreOffice should work OK.
Sometimes you can make Word for Mac do connected Arabic if you are editing a document created with Windows Word.

    Example: عَيْنٌ

Funnily, it doesn't seem to happen here, but it does when entering text in a web interface (using Firefox, font Bayan) and when using Text Edit.
Seems to be a problem of a specific font, as e.g. Arial MS Unicode works fine. Any hints?
    Thank you!

You can't do Arabic on MS Word for Mac.  This app has never supported RTL scripts, so you need to use something else.  Mellel is best, but Pages 5, TextEdit, Nisus Writer, Open/LibreOffice should work OK.
You switch between languages by using the "flag" menu at the top right of the screen or by using the keyboard shortcuts apple/command plus space.  Go to system prefs/keyboard/shortcuts to make sure that is activated.
To see which key does what, you use Keyboard  Viewer.

You place vowels on letters by typing the key for the vowel after the key for the letter.  The vowels are on the option/alt keys, option/alt + a gives you َ

  • JTextField and Farsi or Arabic fonts.

    Hi,
I am trying to use Arabic or Farsi fonts for JTextField but it displays unreadable character or boxes. The program is using Ms Access is working with English fonts perfectley (The Farsi fonts like B Homa or...does not work even without using Ms Access). Here is the code, please help; thanks in advance.
    Font font1 = new Font("Lucida Sans", Font.PLAIN, 12);
    fnametxt.setFont(font1);
    fnametxt.setText(text1);

I don't know where is the problem, when you are typing or when you whant to display and retrive it from file or db.
Anyway, as I know for multilanguage application you should use fonts that supports all language scripts that is applied in the app.
One way to find out what scripts is supported by fonts is goto Format in Notepad and select a font, on the dialog box there is a combo that displays all sopprted language script by the font.
For farsi language you shuld be sure that the font supports Arabic scripts like Tahoma and Arial.

  • Arabic fonts in InDesign CS6

I¹m looking for some help regarding Arabic fonts on Mac InDesign CS6 (Adobe Creative Suite 5.5).
I¹ve designed a company profile in English and they need it to be translated into Arabic for their Middle Eastern branch. They¹ve sent the correct Arabic copy in a Word document but the moment I copy it into InDesign it corrupts and becomes illegible. I¹ve looked on the Adobe and Apple forums but can¹t find a solution for the problem.
This is a Mac problem because one of my friends have InDesign for Windows and the font works 100% on her version. I think the problem is that the Arabic font was written for Windows and is therefore not compatible with Mac.

This is a Mac problem because one of my friends have InDesign for Windows and the font works 100% on her version.
    Mmmmaybe.
Can you tell us the name of the font?  In which version of Word is the Arabic rendering correctly? Do you have a known-good PDF to compare your Arabic against? If not, how do you know that the Arabic is rendering correctly anywhere?
It was my understanding that Mac Word simply can't handle right-to-left scripts like Arabic, so it's possible that your translation provider has used a very old font that fakes the cursive connections between letters in Arabic. It could also be the case that the font is Arial - versions of Arial installed with Office for Mac traditionally don't have Arabic glyphs because Mac Office has not offered RTL support for Arabic. But the font technologies used in Windows for Arabic support (both in TrueType and OpenType) do, in fact, work on the Mac, assuming the font was made by someone who knew what they were doing.
Both Peter and shnath offer good advice. I am a big proponent of World Tools, but in CS6 if you have a correctly formatted Word document you should be able to just place it and get RTL behaviors, if the font used has Arabic support.
    Lastly:
I¹ve designed a company profile in English and they need it to be translated into Arabic for their Middle Eastern branch.
I don't do much commercial work myself (I'm more of a nonprofit, social-service guy) but a "company profile" sounds to me like something that should be typeset by a graphic designer who actually reads the language. You are working on some kind of marketing or business speech intended for distribution in a culture where good calligraphy and typography are very important. It is unfortunately very easy for those of us who are not immersed in these calligraphic traditions to accidentally do something equivalent to formatting a press release in sixteen-point Comic Sans. So if you keep posting in this thread we can get you to the point where your Arabic copy is legible, and probably to the point where it's not embarassing. But if your clients need anything more than basic legibility, you may want to hand this off to someone who is an in-language professional.

  • International Fonts Support

I have installed JDeveloper 3.0 on a Win2000 Proffesional edition with Arabic Language support.
However when I try to design a form in JDeveloper IDE and use Arabic characters, which is supported by the JDK according to the documentation, as labels or in text fields from the database I get strange symbols displayed on the form but proper text in the source code.
Can anybody tell me how I can get proper arabic characters displayed on the form?

    Rasheed,
Some of the problems you are seeing may be due to the fact that JDeveloper 3.0 is only certified on Windows NT.
Labels and buttons should work. Text fields are not supported until JDK 1.3.
You mention 'strange symbols'. The cause of the problem depends on what these 'strange symbols' are:
a small square indicates a problem with the fonts
a question mark ? indicates a character set conversion problem
latin-looking characters (o's with umlats, etc.) are probably due to JDeveloper running on the wrong operating system
I would check out the Javasoft website for more information (www.javasoft.com). They have tutorials for internationalization, and the specs for the specific versions will tell you what is supported.

  • I want to take Arabic fonts in InDesign

I want to take Arabic fonts in InDesign. I have the version of InDesign CS 3 (Germany). The program rotates the letters. What should I do? Do I need a different version?

    Hi Steffi,
There is no way to make the german version of InDesign CS3 supporting Arabic. At that time, there were 2 differents version of ID, the "international" one and a specific for Arabic & Hebrew support ("Middle Eastern" version) developped by WinSoft Intl in France.
Today, the current version is InDesign CS6. The version of ID shipped in the middle east has the Arabic support embedded. So, it would be ideal for you. As alternative, you could add "ScribeDoor" to any InDeisgn. ScribeDoor is a plugin developped by WinSoft Intl which brings the Arabic & Hebrew support into InDesign: http://store.winsoft-international.com/products/product/winsoft/scribedoor/scribedoor-for- indesign.html
    Hope this helps

  • Traditional Arabic Fonts

Why Adobe Reader for Android dont support this fonts.

You'll have to contact WinSoft for support of Photoshop ME.
My first guess is that you've got some bad Arabic fonts (yes, most of them are poorly constructed).

    Hi,
Which language version did you use? English Office version or Arabic Office version? According to your description, the Al-Mohanad & Al-Mohanad Bold font displayed correctly in Word file.
Please copy the Al-Mohanad & Al-Mohanad Bold font to Notepad and print it to test.
If it also can not print from Notepad, I recommend you upgrade the printer driver.
If it prints well from Notepad, please try to change a font in Word to print. We can look for free fonts, shareware fonts, or commercial fonts, go to the following Microsoft typography website:

  • Arabic fonts not working

    Sir,
We had purchased Office 365 for our organisation & we are really ashamed that it is not supporting Arabic fonts
kindly if u can resolve this problem

Do you mean the desktop version of Office 2013?
As far as I know, Microsoft Office supports right-to-left functionality and features for languages that work in a right-to-left, such as Arabic.

  • Arabic fonts not working in Illustrator CS4 on MacBook Pro

I have a bunch of Arabic fonts installed on my computer but can't use them on Illustrator.
For some reason, they are on my dropdown Font list but Illustrator is not letting me use them.
Arabic letters are meant to be connected to one another to form words and the fonts are not being applied correctly. The letters come out separated instead of connected.
Do I need to download something to be able to use them?
    Thanks!

To  be more precise what is required is the Illustrator ME or on of the Suites also the ME version, which is the Middle East version. Adobe designates the version using the intials ME.
That will work with both Arabic and Hebrew.
Otherwise you have to one type backwards and use tracking of a negative amount sufficient to have the letters touch and make a character style and apply it to all text you  want arabic.
Best to have the ME version.
