Our data warehouse uses RMAN and Legato to transfer archive logs to DLT. The robot that triggers RMAN was not started causing a close crash of datawarehousde. Now legoto does not recognize the server

In order to backup to tape using RMAN, you must use a third-party MMV software. If you do not currently have one, you may want to try installing LSM that is shpped with Oracle. Then once the LSM library is linked with RMAN, you will be able to backup to tape.

Moving backed up file in disk to tape using RMAN

Hi All,
Is there a way in RMAN to move an already backed up file present in disk to tape?
The scenario is as follows:
RMAN backs up database to disk on week days initially. At a particular day, say during Saturdays, those backed up file (made on week days) in disk will be moved to tape (to clear disk space). I wish to know if RMAN has this capability to move the backed up file from disk to tape (FLASHBACK is not enabled in the database). This will help RMAN to restore the files from tape in case of restore/recovery. I don't want RMAN to take the backup on tape straight away.
Oracle Database Version : 10.2.0
OS : SunOS 5.10
I'd be grateful if you can provide me with suggestions.

RMAN will not move the already backed up files.
Instead you can use CATALOG START WITH option to move the files from disk to catalog.
Schedule this as a job then RMAN will move the backup files.

Archive File not accessible.

Hello Experts
I've an issue regarding archive file. I schedule a write program using TCode SARA, it works fine and gives me a session id for newly created archive file. When I try to schedule the delete program for given session id in SARA, I'm not able to select the file. It says 'Failed'.
Strange part is when I directly run the archive program through SE38, I can see option (checkbox) to select file in SARA while scheduling delete program.
I guess, I'm missing something when schedule write program for archive object. I dont know what .
Any idea, if I'm doing it right or something odd, please share.

I prove in my 4.6C system your proble. We always use archive with external repository but i isn´t put now.
AOBJ Customazing:
Log.File.Name -> ARCHIVE_DATA_FILE
You must to create TestSessVariant and Prod. session var (Delete Program Variant)
Deletion Jobs -> Start automatic. (Not important)
Try to run the two jobs with this configuration. If you can, then you create a client folder on Sap Directories (AL11)

Archiving File Not created

Hai Gurus,
here i doing an archiving task,i havecreated the variant and assigned four weks to archive,after 40 min later i found the job is finished and when i started deleting ,the archived file file NOT created.So i cross checked in spool request and it shown as the "WAITING",the Statistics screen as NO data found.
I have my job log as the arching is been created with "1" archiving object, but actually it has to show me the file name:"archive_bw_000025236.....".So what can be the reason and where can be the file be gone or saved?what is the procedure to find the Archived file,i mean in which table i can see
please let me know

Hi Suri,
When you archive any data( in your case- 4 weeks data), the system will confirm if this data is business complete. If YES, then it will archive your stipulated data and only then you may be able to see the Log of the archived data.
if there is no data ( business complete)to be archived, then NO archive file will be created.
You can see the Archive file name in the Job Log of that particular archiving run.
By the way, which data/object are u archiving ? may be i can help you.

Archived files not recognized accurately on server

Some Archived files on our server are not recognized (Unix Executable). Was able to use them before "Lion" when we were connecting as afp:, now as smb: we cannot, why?

How are they connecting? What Service?
Any particular APPs that do this? Adobe perhaps?

Importing archive files in Eclipse

I use Eclipse to develop Java applications. I need to import some archive files (not the default jar files available in j2sdk), for my project. How can i import jar files in Eclipse. I googled for the answer, used Eclipse help but still cant find the answer. Can anyone help me with this?

Rman backup to tape (legato storage manager)

hi
currently i am try to use direct backup of my database to tape by rman.
but rman can't directly move oracle data into tape
it require 3rd party tool like
legato storage manager.
so my question is
1.how we can install LSM.
2.Is it avaliable on oracle rel 2 cd or not.
3.how we can config it.
4.any other tool is avaliable for this(for backup ->tape)

For testing, I creates a testing DB. after that, I delete some archive file from physical side.
testing DB works well.
However, I tyr to back up thsi testing DB. I got below error message

change archivelog all crosscheck ;
will do the trick.
You can purge archive files but do it within rman.
Add a line in your rman backup script which makes backup your database and archive files like this.
delete noprompt copy of archivelog all completed before 'SYSDATE-3';

Had to uninstall Firefox, now I can't reinstall. Get error message "Can not find archive file." Please help!

I believe I had some kind of virus attack. I got everything cleaned up. (I HOPE) In the process of cleaning the virus, I unintalled Firefox because it wouldn't open. Kept getting the error message that Firefox was already open and I had to close out of the sessions or restart the computer. After restarting the computer several times and not being able to find any open sessions in task manager, I uninstalled. When trying to reinstall, I get the error message "can not find archive file." I've tried downloading Firefox from cnet as well as the Mozilla site to no avail. Please help. I'm getting tired of using Chrome already!

Not writing to file

Hi,
I have made a program that reads a string, converts it to bytes, then writes to a file.
Well i got the first two working, but its not writing to file. I know it should work cos i have written to file on my previous tests, but when i used a FOR loop it stoped working. Do ya know why. Below is the code...

PI 7.30: OS command on AIX to archive files on FTP does not work

Dear experts,
Our PI system runs on an AIX server.
I have a scenario PI --> FTP. I also need to archive files in a seperate folder on the FTP.
I have been following thread:
Read or Write File On FTP server based on another file existence.
After file processing in the Audit Log in RWB I among others I get the information:
Execute OS command "sh /usr/sap/SYS/flex/batches/archive.sh file.zip /ftpfolder/file.zip"
It seems it is working properly.
The file itself gets processed to the "ftpfolder". But in the archive folder I do not get a copy of that file.
My script looks like this:

In the file receiver I have "Run OS command after message processing":

Could you please help me out here. I really don't know what the problem could be.

You have to put your path + file name to export your ear file.
If you don't see your created file in the path that you configured then see Messages - Log of JDeveloper if you have permission problems to write.

Archiving faulty Source file not working in Sender Adapter FCC

Hi Experts,
I have enabled "Archiving Faulty Source File" in Sender Adapter FCC and pen down the directory path accordingly.
Likewise I also enable the processed mode as "archive" and give it the direcotory path.
However when there is a error flagged in sxmb_moni for this interface, I unable to see any file created in the error folder but I can see a file with timestamp being created in the archive folder.
I have checked the access right to the directory, so this is not an issue. I ran through the forum on this subject and come across the help.sap note on the following
" To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, set the indicator.
A permanent error occurs either during the conversion of the file content, or in a module in the module processor.

○ Specify the Directory for Error Archiving.
○ To add a time stamp to the archived file, select Add Time Stamp. "
What is the definition as "permanent error". The error I got in sxmb_moni is a mapping conversion error, so it should be archive this to the error folder, right ?
Anyone have any such setting enabled and working ?

No, it is not the case. As mentioned on the SAP Help site, for the faulty file to be archived, the error has to occur in content conversion, or in module processor.
If the error you are getting is in MONI, then it means syntactically the file is correct and hence adapter engine has picked up and sent to integration engine (SXMB_MONI).

Hi there,
What I have:
* I have problem with installation of the Mac OS X Panther v10.3 on iMac.
* I have 3 original CDs (black with silver X).
What I did:
* I made new 1 partition and formated disk as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) over the Disk Utility in the first CD as normal without additional options (if I tried to format disk with zero all data and 8 way random write format after 3 days computer freeze)
* I verified disk over this utility - that was ok - HFS volume verifed.
* Then I restarted the computer and ran installation from this first CD
What happened:
* installation did not finish, because there were some problems during installation process.
* i tried to customize installation just for essential work (without other languages support, printers etc), but it was still the same problem

It seems like a problem with reading some data from the CD, but during the installation checking of disk was ok.. maybe it can be problem with the cd-rom..? Or problem with data on cd-rom - I mean bad archive file..? But it is original CD.. What do you think??
