Archive Queue

Every few days, archiving stops working in messenger. The service still works and messages get qeued up, but the queue just keeps building and never processes the messages.
If I try shutting down the service, I end up with a streaming message of:
MTP Waiting for NMAA-Archive-Worker_0 to terminate...
And I'm not sure how to force it to close so I can restart it. Anyone have ideas???

I was running archive in protected memory, however archive would begin to launch and then give a memory protection error and shut down. It would only run if I didn't launch it in protected memory space. If I created a new STORE directory and launched the application in protected memory, it will run for about a week. After about a week, it will shut down, and won't load in protected memory space again unless I recreate the STORE directory again... When I look at the STORE folder, there are a bunch of .mai files and corresponding microsoft Office Access Form Shortcut files that mirror the names of the .mai files. I have seen up to 3000 files in the STORE directory. But sometimes it will stop working with only 300 files in this directory. Should this directory continue to fill up with these .mai files?

How to automatically move services to Archive Queue?

Hi,
I've looked at SDN trying to find a way to automatically move EWA services to Archive Queue after a period of time so I don´t have to keep moving them from time to time to clean the Operations screen. I found two or three posts but none of them gave any answer to these.
I have read 546685 but this refers to archiving to an archive repository and do not say anything about moving to Archive Queue except that you have to save services before archiving them. Also looked at Help.SAP.com with no luck.
After looking all this I concluded that probably the only way to do this automatically is to create a custom report and use it in a background job, but I will like to ask first before I can assure that this a fact or not.

Automatically move EWAs to archive queue

Hello all,
I´m using SOLMAN 4.0 and i am trying to find a way to automatically move EWAs to the archive queue in order to decrease EWAS shown in DSWP. I do not want to delete them...only move them to the archive queue. Finding a way to do this would be a huge help for me. Is there a job that does this? Can someone help me on this?

Early watch Report deletions from archive queue in Solution Manager

Hi Experts ,
I am working on Solution manager EHP1 (SP24). Here more than 100 satellite systems are connected .
and every week approximately 100 Early watch reports are getting generated into the system .
Is there any way to delete the early watch reports from the archive queue of the system which are 6 months
older.
A quick help is highly appreiciable

Have you already tried report RDSMOPREDUCEDATA
It offers the deletion of service session, documents and download data.

Move service to Archive Queue

I want to EWA reports to move service to Archive Queue. but it is erroring out asking me to run goto--> self diagnostics
I am having 5 errors
2 of them relate to the following error, though in SM59 SAP-OSS is existing and working fine with test with connection and authorisation and remote login.

I followed this SAPNote 802659, and changed the group from EWA to 1_PUBLIC but the error is still showing up.in SM59 all test are working fine.
IN - su01: OSS_RFC it is not found. do I need to create one i thought we don't need to create OSS_RFC user

Already know how to move Old services to Archive Queue automatically, but now my question is if there is some posibility to delete not needed services moved to archive queue. We just don´t need them anymore and want to clean also that queue and do database reorg.

Transfer of old EWA Reports

Hello,
does anybody know a way how to transfer old EWA reports from one solution manager into another ? I've checked the "save services" button but I'm not able to put it into a transport request within this "archive queue".

Yes, we built a new solman from scratch and wanted to transfer all the data needed.
I nearly thought we'd not be able to transfer the EWA. So we'll have to do the download-an-backup-to-cd solution.

EWA only kept for 1 month

It seems after SP3, that the EWA reports are only kept for 1 month in SOLMAN, cannot seem to find where to change this, as Im interested in keeping these for at least 3 months.
Any Ideas ?

how is it going?
With my customers I had no such issues with EWA reports with SolMan 4.0 and SP level 11. You should have ideally SP 11 in SolMan for the Maintenance Optimizer either way. With SP9 you have to do some note implementations, which none of my customers were willing to have done with their SolMan.
In the EWA section in transaction dswp you will find the button Archive Queue. Check, if these reports have been archived. If none are there. Then logon to the satellite system and go to transaction SDCCN and check if you have a job scheduled called :
Delete old session and log data DELETE_OLD_SDCC_DATA
If it is scheduled, you can simply delete the line and the reports should not be removed.

Replacing FC tape drive for SAM-FS

One of the fibrechannel LTO-4 drives in our STK SL-500 library is reporting frequent media write errors, causing a couple of dozen VSNs to be marked as "unusable." Sun is bringing a new drive, so I have marked this one as "off" and ejected the media. It's easy enough to replace the drive. But is there any way to introduce the replacement drive without performing a reconfigure reboot on the server?
Also, right now, this drive is /dev/rmt/0. I'm not sure if this is the case, since the new drive is being connected to exactly the same FC port as the original, but if the drive numbering changes upon reconfiguration, will I need to modify my mcf? I don't recall where the "rules" are for proper numbering of the tape devices.

It turns out that we don't need to do any of this because the SL-500 is, in fact, smarter than me. It presents the same WWN for a given drive slot. The tray was pulled, the drives swapped, then it went back in. Verified with cfgadm -al that it showed up as before, issued "samcmd on eq" then the hungry archiving queue instantly put it to work.

Question related to very long term processes

I'm implementing a form in workspace that manages approvals for a real estate group. There will be a form/process for new building locations and one for renewals. The form and workflow for new buildings locations and renewals is the same - the only difference is that for renewals I want to use the same form as was initially used as the input for the process (so that the user doesn't have to rekey data). I've been puzzling over how to set this up. The approach I'm currently working on involves saving the form as a PDF and then allowing this to be injected into the renewal process from a watched folder. This is close to working, but I can see a few major problem with it; specifically 1: it requires that the user save/manage PDF documents outside of workspace 2: it will not work if the form or the form schema changes at all - and this is quite likely since the interval from the forms initial approval to its use in the renewal process could be several years.
I want to ask whether anyone can suggest a better approach. One idea that I have is to, at the end of my approval process, simply assign the form to a special "archive" work group. This assignment step would then have a route leading back to the "top" of the approval process. This would potentially give workspace users the ability to review old forms online and re-submit them. I have a few questions about whether this approach would work:
-> Would it be a problem having a workflow that basically never ends? My main concern is that I'm not clear on whether, when a workflow process is running, it take up system memory or is simply managed as a record within the database? We don't anticipate a large volume of use - only a few hundres forms a year - but I'm concerned that having hundreds of running processes could present a memory issue.
-> When the person managing the renewal assigns the work item in the "archive" queue to themselves, would it be possible to force the system to consider that individual to be the process creator? The reason that this is important is that I have a number of process steps in which the form is assigned back to the creator - but the original creator would not likely be the person initiating the renewal.
-> Would having running processes cause issues with any server upgrades/migrations, or would it be easy to migrate the running processes if we ever had to migrate to a new server or upgrade the LiveCycle software?

A long set of questions, no wonder no-one has been game to answer... :-)
Better approach? Maybe. I would extract the data from the form at the end of your first process into a database table. Then, when you start the other process, pre-populate the form from the same data. You will obviously need some kind of "primary key" to identify the old form in the new process. My 2c. If you do use the old form to populate the new, that's generally okay, as long as you only add data to the schema, not remove or change it.
The special Archive group would work. Once a task has been assigned to a user (or a group), it just sits there. It's a record in the database, it doesn't take up any memory or cpu. The group queue could get very full though, and it might be hard to find particular forms.
I think you can just assign the creator process variable to a new value. However, I also think it's probably a bad idea. Instead, just create a string variable called "new_creator" (or whatever). Assign the user id of the user who completed that task to new_creator. Then, in subsequent user steps, assign the step to Xpath instead of creator, and select /process_data/@new_creator.
Upgrades shouldn't be a problem, since the task data is stored in the database, and generally the database survives upgrades. (It would be wise to take a backup, as always:-)

PST Import to archive mailbox - Stays in queue until i restart the microsoft exchange mailbox replication service

Good Day all,
Stretched dag between site a and site b. Cas array at each site. Mailboxes primarily are located in site a unless there is a major outage then the dag flips to site b. setup two archive databases, one in site A on a non replicated partition
of the dag server and one in site B on a separate mailbox only server.
All exchange servers are patched to the latest sp and rollup.
site a has no issues at all, everything i import queues up and processes with no problems
at site b two imports will process and then stop until i restart the microsoft exchange mailbox replication service on the cas server. No errors no nothing just lots of move request sitting in the queue.
considering i have an insane amount of psts to import there does anyone have any suggestions besides setting up a task to restart the imicrosoft exchange mailbox replication service every 15 minutes?

Yeah I know from my research when I was setting up the dag you were not a fan of the stretched DAG but it works for us really well and passed all fail over tests that we ran on it <knocking on wood>.
Yes its running but it stops working after one session. I have had success in raising the transfer count from 2 to 5 but I can't really go much higher without taking down the server. the problem is when I am transferring someone with hundreds
of PSTs I have to babysit it...which sucks..

Unable to delete messages from queue.

I have a journaling rule setup to send mail to a archive appliance. I have two messages in my queue that are From Address:<> to my recipient (my archiver's email address). The journal rule works fine since it is working for all my users mail, but I have two messages stuck in my queue complaining that they could not be categorized and an event 9213 for MSExchangeTransport every 30 minutes.
"A non-expirable message with the internal message ID 7996 could not be categorized. This message may be a journal report or other system message. The message will remain in the queue until administrative action is taken to resolve the error. Other messages may also have encountered this error. To further diagnose the error, use the Queue Viewer or the Mail Flow Troubleshooter."
I have tried via the GUI and Shell to remove these two messages. The GUI gives me an error:

The Shell will actually not report back an error but I still have those messages in the queue. The command to see info about the message was:

Then I tried deleting the message using the "InternetMessageID" info I gathered from this.

This prompts me for a Yes, No, etc... responce (I thought I had it this time) and gave me no error, but the message still resides in queue.
I am at a loss. Any help?

Correct, two messages stuck in queue and cannot remove.
Environment is a Windows 2003 R2 w/ SP2 64bit server, Exchange 2007 SP1 with all roles, AD/DNS is also Windows 2003 R2 w/ SP2 64bit.
This just seemed to start happening a few days ago and just with these two particular messages. I have a archive appliance from ArcMail and a journal rule setup in Exchange to journal all mail to the ArcMail appliance. This has been working and continues to work except for these two messages.

Tried several filter options and all had the same result. No events in the event viewer and did not remove the stuck messages.

Project Server 2010 - Manage Queue anomalies

Morning All,
I'm currently experiencing an odd situation with the Manage Queue function in our Project Server. For the entire year I've been using PS the Manage Queue has never consisted of much more than a couple of projects awaiting check-in.
I logged on last week and saw that timesheets are now in the queue. This is particularly odd as we don't use timesheets so I'm unsure why these are now showing in the queue.
The screen shows the following:
Queue Type = timesheet
Entry Time = 1am
Complete Time = blank
Project Name = N/A
Job Type = either Archive Custom Fields, Archive System Settings or Archive Resources
Job State = waiting to be processed
Percentage Complete = 0%
Owner = SVC_SPFarmadmin
This week it's also trying to archive projects. Everything is as above except Project Name isn't blank and Job Type says Archive Project.
I'm the administrator for PS and (as far as I know) I've not made any changes that would cause these to now be queueing.
I was wondering if anyone might know why this is happening, if it will cause any major problems and if there's a way to stop this occuring. Everyone here is as confused as I am as to what's going on.

Archive Logs NOT APPLIED but transferred

Hi Gurus,
I have configured Primary & Standby databases in same Oracle Home. OS version is OEL 5. Database version is 10.2.0.1. I could get the archive logs in the standby site but they are not getting applied in the standby database. I don't have OLAP installed in my database version. Would this create this issue? Mahir: Yes I have my 4 standby redo logs!
I created the standby manually without using RMAN.
Hemant: if it asks for even first thread, then obviously it shows nothing is applied on Standby. By the way so it is not called a 'GAP', I think..!

Reading Opaque data from jms queue and decoded in java embedding

Objective:Fetch text message from queue and print it from java embedding in BPEL
I am fetching text message from a jms queue using JMS adapter in BPEL.Then converting the opaque data(Base64 binary)to string using java embedding.My build got successful but I am getting runtime error at the time of deployment.
I have added fabric-runtime.jar file into SCA-INF\lib folder as well as project library directory.
