  • Using Archiver to replicate tables

    Hi,
I'm trying to replicate a singular table between two instances content server using archiver.
    CREATE TABLE TEST
    ID NVARCHAR2(20) NOT NULL,
    SCHCREATETIMESTAMP TIMESTAMP(6),
    SCHMODIFYTIMESTAMP TIMESTAMP(6),
    SCHSOURCEID NVARCHAR2(50)
When I insert or update records using "Export Archiver" in manual mode works good!, but in this mode, the archiver doesn't get the records deleted.
I try to use "export Archiver" in automatic mode, but seems don't work because don't get the changes on the records (update/insert or delete) .
Does anybody using this feature ?.
    Content Server 7.5.1
    Thanks.

Be careful before engaging in dml apply handler doing such weird things... Take time to experiment basic functionality before.
I have not had the time to do such experiment yet myself... but I'd rather be careful with new features until I saw them work satisfactorily.
I personnally would investigate using materialized views for what you describe.

  • How to archive the NAST table entries

    Hi All,
Table NAST has 33 million records and there are lots of jobs which use this table. It is a performance issue. I want to know is there any way to increase the performance of accessing NAST table.
    OR
Is there any way to archieve the entries from NAST table
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Sushant,
Welcome to SDN. The archiving should be a well coordinated and well thought effort in any enterprise. I will not suggest you to archive only single table. All the related tables should be archived together till a point in time. The table NAST is part of following archiving objects.
    LE_HU     Handling units
    MM_EKKO     Purchasing documents
    MM_MATBEL     Materials management: Material documents
    MM_REBEL     Materials Management: invoice documents
    RV_LIKP     Deliveries
    SD_LIKP     No text available
    SD_VBAK     Sales documents
    SD_VBKA     Sales activities
    SD_VBRK     Billing documents
    SD_VTTK     SD Transport
    W_PROMO     Retail: Promotion
You have to perform an analysis that which business processes ( like billing, delivery ) have resulted the most number of NAST records. Talk to your functional guys and <b>bring a project to archive them</b> up to a finite date ( like 12/31/2002). It will clear up not only NAST but other common tables (like CDHDR and CDPOS).

Oracle doesn't provide seeded concurrent programs to purge/archive custom tables since this varies from one customer to another and the business requirements are not the same -- You should create custom concurrent programs (or scripts) to purge/archive your custom tables.

  • Archiving custom(z) table or changing standard se16 screen

    Hi Abapers,
My requirement is i need a selection screen1 to enter the z table name, when i select the table and execute on screen1, it should direct me to the selection screen2 which contains the key fields of the table mentioned as a selection screen elements. Then i enter the key field values and execute the 2nd selection screen, it should archive the records corresponding to the mentioned selection criteria. Could you please tell me the idea to achieve the same.
The solutions i am thinking of are
    1. to enhance the se16 screen(where the same sequence of screens come) by adding a button to archive. If this is possible how do i can do this??
    2. By creating from scratch by creating a report, in this case i am struck with the dynamic selection screen creation.
Your suggestion/help is very much in need.
    Thanks
    Shruthi

    Hi  Shruthi,
I don't think we can have a generic transaction to archive Ztable records. May be in case if you wanna delete you can do so, but since archived records needs to be stored somewhere you may need to create several tables that holds the archived data.

  • Archiving object for tables GLPCC and GLPCO

    Hi All,
GLPCA table stores the actual line items in PCA and GLPCT table stores the totals records of PCA.
What are the transactions which get affected in regular course by these tables?
       GLPCC - EC-PCA: Transaction Attributes
GLPCO - EC-PCA: Object Table for Account Assignment
There is no archiving object for the tables GLPCC and GLPCO when checked in DB15. What is the alternative for archiving the entries in those tables?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Anupama

    Hello Anupama,
The standard archiving objects for PCA are EC_PCA_ITM & EC_PCA_SUM. Most of the data is archived with above two objects.  Hence it would be better to use given archiving object. About 80% of data can be archived through standard archiving objects.

  • Custom Archiving Object: cluster tables

    Hello All,
I need to create a custom archiving object to archive the content of a cluster table. Does anyone know how to do this? Would you provide me with the steps to do so?
    Thank you in advance!

    Solution
As of R/3 Release 3.0, the ADK is also delivered to customers as a development tool for archiving programs. The ADK (Archive Development Kit) consists of function modules that help you to develop your own archiving solutions, as well as documentation on how to use the function modules.
As of Release 3.0, all existing archiving from SAP applications is moved to the ADK.
If you want to enhance an existing solution, you can do this with the help of the ADK. However, your own solutions may NOT delete or modify data from SAP standard tables.
Archiving classes are developed by SAP exclusively and must not be used alone but only in connection with an archiving object.
Archiving objects and archiving classes (and the objects belonging to the class) are not namespace-capable. A namespace as prefix may lead to errors in this case and must therefore not be used.
For more information on the ADK documentation please see Note 71930.

  • Archive/Truncate stage table for interface

    Hi All,
We use quite a few of staging tables for the interface. We need to figure out a way to archive it and then truncate it from time to time. Of course it will be dependent on the volume and frequency of the data into the staging table.
Could anyone share thoughts, process to get this executed please.
    Thanks for your time!

A lot of interfaces (such as Items, categories) have a parameter that tells Oracle to delete the data if the record was imported successfully. You should make use of that parameter.
If the interface does not have such a parameter, then you should write custom scripts that fire after the interface and deletes successful data.
For errors however, the picture could get complicated.
A lot depends on how your interface was designed, what kind of error reporting is in place , how you trigger correction and reprocessing of the errors.
The safest way is to let the source system resend the data but that is not always possible.
The second alternate is to use Oracle screens (such as Sales Order Corrections) or develop custom ones to let users fix what was wrong and resubmit.
If all fails, you should let users delete the errored record.
If you have any regulatory or audit constraints, then you may want to backup successful as well as error records into another table. But that should not be the first choice. A lot of times, the knee-jerk requirement from users is that the data must be stored even if nobody will ever look at it. At that point, it not data - it is junk in your database.
    Hope this helps

  • Data Archival for Custom Tables

    Hi Experts,
We have a requirement of archiving the related custom tables while we archive the standard SAP tables data. We are going a head with creating the custom archiving objects to handle this. However, i would like to know about the feature of "Exit routine assignement in generation" in the standard Archiving objects (AOBJ).  Can this be used to handle custom tables data? If yes, can you please provide me an example how this can be acheived? If not, what is the purpose of this?
    Please help!!
    Thanks and Best Regards,
    Surya

    Hello Lavaughn,
I can not speak for SAP, but from my personal experience TimeStamps are the state of the art to store time date info in db tables. Even with date/Time fields a conversion to the local timezone is necessary. Of course you can reuse your db definition on dynpros. But since UI and business logic will be divided anyway this is also not really a valid point.

  • Best practice for archiving FGA_LOG$ table?

    Hi all,
I am running Oracle 11g Release 1, and have been asked to look at how to best archive the FA_LOG$ table. We are required to store the logs for 3 years. I ran the following query:
    select owner, segment_name, segment_type, bytes/1024/1024 "MB" from dba_segments
    where tablespace_name = 'AUDIT_TBS' AND rownum <=100
    AND bytes/1024/1024 > 1 order by bytes desc;
and it shows that the FGA_LOG$ table is currently at 84861 MB!
Is my best course of action to:
    1. Install the patch necessary to access the DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT package
    2. Move the table to a different tablespace
    3. Use the DataPump export utlity
    4. Cleanup the table with the DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT package?
    Thanks,
    David

to remove from the table itself
    delete from fga_log$ where timestamp# < sysdate-(365*3);
if you want to keep data outside
expdp to a file called this_years_fga_data.dmp , zip up and keep wherever you like.
    truncate fga_log$
    repeat annually
    * edit, jsut to clarify the timestamp# column may depend on version.
