Are procedures self-containg transactions ?

What I mean is even if I did not put Set transaction / commit / rollback in my packaged procedure, does it behave like a transaction ?
Also, could you provide a link about this matter; I could not find it.
Thanks

A transaction begins the moment you issues a commit or rollback. So, the procedure in itself will not be a transaction. But, it will be part of a transaction, and it can be commited or rolledback even after the procedure is executed.
If you have a commit or a rollback in the procedure, it will apply to all data that was inserted/updated/deleted before the procedure ran.

  • How to download list of transaction from SAP area menu in SAP1 transaction

    Hello All,
    My requirement is I want to download the list of transaction under the SAP area menu in SAP1 transaction.
    I tried with SE43, entered area menu as S000, but it doesn't give me of the same hierarchy and some transaction were missing, for example IH08 is available in SAP1 transaction and not available in SE43.
    Could you please let me know is there any way to download the list.
    Regards,
    Thanga

    If you open SE43N, type SAP1 and Display (F7), Tree is shown with collapsed nodes. Print option in Menu shows the same tree as a list. The nodes do not get expanded by default.
    So in order to get expanded tree in list ( so that transaction codes can be seen), you need to expand the tree before choosing Area Menu > Print.
    This works for average area menu which is less number of transactions.
    Since you are looking for SAP1, it has lot of transactions, and on expanding it, information message is shown as:
    The tree could only be partially expanded for performance reasons
    Diagnosis: The hierarchy could not be completely expanded for performance reasons; it has too many subnodes.
    Procedure:
    Restrict the number of nodes to be expanded by expanding a lower-level node
    or
    Expand this node repeatedly until this message no longer appears. The hierarchy is then completely expanded.
    As a result, IH08 transaction which is under Quality Management node can't be seen in list view as overflow occurred before this node was reached.
    On debugging, it can be seen that the tree is expanded recursively by standard until an overflow flag is set.
    In order to get around this overflow protection, you can write a custom code.
    Below snippet is for demonstration purpose.
    1. Run FM BMENU_DISPLAY_RSTREE in SE37 with tree_id as QM01
    2. Run my snippet that calls same FM in the end
    Compare 2 outputs and see the difference.
    I am going 1 level deep and IH08 transaction can be seen in output.
    Similarly, you can write a code that recursively expands every sub-tree found so that entire list can be seen.

  • HR Self-Service Transactions - error notifications

    In our HR system we are using Administrator Self Service, allowing staff to make changes to HR records for people they manage.
    In quite a few cases, our central admin team are receiving notifications with subject lines like:
    Application Error has occurred in your process Change Job and Terms performed on Bloggs, Mr Joseph
    When opening the notification, the error message at the top of the page says a range of things, such as:
    The changes were not applied because This transaction has failed because the employee's record or eligibility status has changed. Submit a new transaction.
    Another user has updated this person's record. Please reject the transaction so the initiator can check whether the change is still valid for the updated record.It would seem that the cause of these is because between the HR Self Service transaction being submitted and the error notification going out, something has changed on the HR record in question.
    Is there any way I can work out where that change is being made, or is that too hard?
    I can see the HR Self Service Transaction via:
    SELECT   hat.creation_date hrss_tx_date
           , wn.notification_id nid
           , wn.begin_date notif_date
           , wn.status

    ORDER BY wn.begin_date DESC;But if I look at e.g. the per_all_people_f or per_all_assignments_f tables to look for changes made to the same HR record that the Self-Service transaction was for, nothing recent is returned:
    SELECT   papf.employee_number

       WHERE papf.person_id = paaf.person_id
         AND papf.full_name LIKE :pn
    ORDER BY paaf.last_update_date DESC;I have seen stuff on My Oracle Support about "object version number" e.g. 1300998.1 says:
    "This is an expected behavior. Since after first approval the object version number of contact's personal details has changed. Now when you try to approve second notification we will compare the OVN in transaction tables to the OVN in database (which got changed). Hence we get an object version mismatch and above error."However, I am still stuck trying to see what has changed. I need to find this so I can go to the functional people who don't understand why they are getting the error notifications, so say "Look, this has changed since the Self-Service transaction was submitted, hence the error".
    Any advice would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

  • How to Identity Self service transactions in HRMS.

    Hi,
    I wanted to create the sql report only for the transactions which are being updated or corrected by self service page only. I would like to know how can I capture only self service transactions when I modify personal Information in HRMS self service page.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Mangesh

    Try with the below tables:
    There are 3 temporary tables that hold data for entries made in SSHR until the approval cycle is complete
    1) HR_API_TRANSACTIONS
    2) HR_API_TRANSACTIONS_STEPS
    3) HR_API_TRANSACTIONS_VALUES
    But the data from the above tables are deleted once the transaction is complete.
    The data is moved to these tables.

    2.pqh_ss_step_history

    without transaction implementing secondary database concept the issues we are getting are as follows:-
    with transaction----------size of database environment 1.63gb which is due to no. of log files created each of 10 mb.
    without transaction-------size of database environment 588mb and here only one log file is created which is of 10mb. so we want to know how REASON CONCRETE CONCLUSION ..
    how log files are created and what is meant of using transaction and not using transaction in db environment and what are this db files db.001,db.002,_db.003,_db.004,__db.005 and log files like log.0000000001.....plz reply soon

    we are using berkeleydb java edition db base api, If you are seeing __db.NNN files in your environment root directory, these are environment's shared region files. And since you see these you are using Berkeley DB Core (with the Java/JNI Base API), not Berkeley DB Java Edition.
    with transaction ...
    without transaction ...First of all, do you need transactions or not? Review the documentation section called "Why transactions?" in the Berkeley DB Programmer's Reference Guide.
    without transaction-------size of database environment 588mb and here only one log file is created which is of 10mb.There should be no logs created when transactions are not used. That single log file has likely remained there from the previous transactional run.
    how log files are created and what is meant of using transaction and not using transaction in db environment and what are this db files db.001,db.002,_db.003,_db.004,__db.005 and log files like log.0000000001Have you reviewed the basic documentations references for Berkeley DB Core?
    - Berkeley DB Programmer's Reference Guide
    in particular sections: The Berkeley DB products, Shared memory regions, Chapter 11. Berkeley DB Transactional Data Store Applications, Chapter 17. The Logging Subsystem.
    - Getting Started with Berkeley DB (Java API Guide) and Getting Started with Berkeley DB Transaction Processing (Java API Guide).
    If so, you would have had the answers to these questions; the __db.NNN files are the environment shared region files needed by the environment's subsystems (transaction, locking, logging, memory pool buffer, mutexes), and the log.MMMMMMMMMM are the log files needed for recoverability and created when running with transactions.

    Hello,
    I have a problem: IDOCs payment fornecedres are "stuck" in the transaction IDXP. I do not know exactly what is happening, but I release the IDOCs in IDXP and then they get stuck in the transaction SMQ2.
    In transaction SM58 has an error log "Command to tRFC / qRFC: Execute LUW again.", Which is the same that appears in the log SMQ2.
    The only thing I got is that the identifier field "package" is not filled in within the IDOC IDXP, but do not know if this influences into something.
    Has anyone experienced a similar problem and could help me?
    Thank you.

    It has nothing to do with Package filed,
    please check below things...
    Check if the Idocs are configured to process immediately in the partner profile.
    Check if the Queues are scheduled to run automatically.

  • What are considerations for Highly Transactional Database

    Hi,
    Can anyone please tell me about considerations for highly transactional database? Is Oracle 10g RAC better or Oracle DB with dataguard?
    Thanks.
    Regards,
    RJiv.

    I'm still not understanding what your question is... Load characteristics are quite irrelevant when discussing the necessity of DataGuard, though the amount of redo generated obviously impacts how much bandwidth is required between the primary and standby site. Bare transaction numbers are somewhat irrelevant when discussing the necessity or advisability of RAC since the amount of work a "transaction" does depends wildly on the application, the number of "transactions" a server can handle depends wildly on the hardware, and the business's need for scalability/ load balancing/ surviving node failure are independent of the transaction load.

  • Customer pricing procedure in Sales transactions

    Hello Experts,
    In our CRM 2007 we have already customized the pricing procedure of the sales transactions for each sales area  / document pricing procedure / customer pricing procedure.  But creating sales transactions, our business needs system to take in consideration the customer pricing procedure of the partner in role Ship to party instead of the partner in role Sold to party.  Could anybody help telling how to set it?
    Many thanks in advance!

    well... maybe my question is not clear...  the thing is that as a sample, we have a:
    1.Sales area = O 50000XXX
    2.Sales document type with Pr. Procedure = A
    3.SoldTo with Cust Pr. Procedure = 1
    4.ShipTo with Cust Pr. Procedure = 2
    When we create a sales document, system determines the Pr. Proc. of the doc as it was customized in view CRMV_PRCPROC_DET:
    Sales area + Pr. Procedure of the sales doc type + Cust Pr. Procedure = Pr. Procedure of the sales doc
    In our customizing we would like to have 2 rows (following the example)
    O 50000XXX + A + 1 = ZPROC1
    O 50000XXX + A + 2 = ZPROC2
    We would need that system checks whether there is any Cust Pr Procedure in the master data of the ShipTo partner.
    - If yes, the Pr. Procedure of the sales doc = ZPROC2
    - If not, the Pr. Procedure of the sales doc = ZPROC1
    but I have not managed to find where to adjust it (nor custom nor BADI). is there any idea or comment?

    try{
    StoredProcedureCall spc1 = new StoredProcedureCall();
    spc1.setProcedureName("PKG.SP1");
    spc1.addNamedArgumentValue("param", "aaa");
    session.executeNonSelectingCall(spc1);
    StoredProcedureCall spc2 = new StoredProcedureCall();
    spc2.setProcedureName("PKG.SP2");
    spc2.addNamedArgumentValue("param", "bbb");
    session.executeNonSelectingCall(spc2);
    } catch (Exception e) {
    session.rollbackTransaction();
    } finally {
    session.release();
    It seems that the "session.rollbackTransaction();" will be executed if spc2 fails.

    The problem is the 1st store procedure is committed (it should be rolled back!), and the database is updated.
    Thanks,

  • Stored procedure in a transaction problem

    hello to everybody
    I have an application under weblogic8.1 sp3.
    I have to call an Oracle stored procedure that populate a table and I have to see the new record anly at the end of the ejb service transaction ( a Container transaction ).When the procedure terminate I see the db data before the transaction end.So I have created a XA DataSource and changed the oracle 9.2 thin drivers in oracle 9.2 thin drivers XA.But Now I receive this Oracle Error:
    ORA-02089: COMMIT is not allowed in a subordinate session
    Why?How Can I resolve my problem?Can Anyone Help Me?Thanks...

    procedure. You can't do that and still include it in an XA
    transaction.

  • Program To Identify the BP that are not assigned to transactions.

    Hai guys,
    I want to identify ALl the BPs that are not assigned to any of the Transactions like Oppurtunities,Activities etc in our system,
    I can run report bu using the tables But000 and CRM_ORDERADM_H.
    Is there any easy way i.e a standard program in the system that does the work.

    Follow these steps to get the list of BP's assigned to transactions
    1. Copy the order GUID's from CRMD_ORDERADM_H
    2. go to table CRMD_LINK paste the copied order guid in place of GUID_HI and copy the GUID_SET.
    3.go to CRMD_PARTNER and paste the above copied CRMD_LINK GUID_SET in place of CRMD_PARTNER GUID and copy the PARTNER_NO
    4.Go to BUT000 paste the above copied CRMD_PARTNER PARTNER_NO in place of GUID and get the partner number.
    Hope this helps out.
    Thanks,
    Thirumala.

  • Bank statements are uploaded successfully, but transactions are not shown in FF_6/FEBAN

    Hello Friends – Can you please clarify my doubt with regards to the issue with Bank statement upload.
    We uploaded the Bank statements successfully. After that when I go to FF_6/FEBAN, I do not see the transactions and Bank statement we received has got transactions.
    It shows Statement status “8”.
    As Documents are not posted (I also checked in FEBEP table, do not see any line items), I should delete these Statements and upload them again?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Please check if you have marked " Do Not Post" in FF_5 for importing bank statement.
    This could be one of the reason why you are  not seeing bank statement in SAP.

  • What report will tell me which tables/fields are used in a transaction

    Hi
    I'm new to SAP, but was wondering how I can navigate the data dictionary so I can get a list of all the tables, fields and field details for all fields used in the following transactions: IW29, IW39 and IW49N.
    Thanks and take care,
    Shayne

    Hi,
    Welcome to SAP!
    There are two ways to find what are all the tables used in the program,
    1. Easy & Effective way is to use ST05 and do SQL Trace.
    2. Normally, when you want to see the corresponding code in the program related to database activities, then do this,
        Goto SE38 --> Put the report name (say RIQMEL20) -> Press F9 --> Select data base activities (SELECT, DELETE, MODIFY, INSERT). Click Ok. This will show all the program lines.
