Are PS CS5 shortcut keys different from those used in PS CS4?

Hi,
I was just wondering how much different the shortcut keys used with the new  PhotoShop CS5 will be from those used with CS4?

All the usual ones are in the same place as they have always been.

the irony of this is that the lost audio books is Steve Jobs biography!

If you haven't been keeping a backup of your downloads (none of your iTunes downloads are included in an iCloud backup, apps, music etc are only redownloadable whilst they remain in your country's store) then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a redownload : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • Why is a color print from CS5 so different from the same image in CS4?

I have made prints from the same file using CS4 and CS5, and the prints from CS4  are showing what I think is good color.  My monitor is calibrated, and I have always been quite happy with prints from CS4.  When I make prints of the same files using CS5, the color is terrible compared to the CS4  print.  I am using the same printer, same sRGB color space and all the settings in the "Print" dialog windows.  I make sure the Color Handling box is set to "Photoshop Manages Colors" and I then go to the "Page Setup" box and make sure Color Settings is set to Off (No Color Adjustments).  I am using a New MacPro Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB ram.  I did notice that Apple Software Update did install Epson drivers after I installed CS5 Creative Suite 5 Design Premium. The color using CS5 looks the same starting in either 32 bit or in 64 bit.   Another thing I notice is that printing on an Epson 2200 Stylus and using their 13x19 paper that the prints are being cropped to 5/8 inch into the full screen size of the images. I.E. The prints are losing 5/8 inch of what I see on the 30" Apple monitor. in both dimensions of the screen image. This cropping effect is showing now using CS4 and CS5.  I have "Position" checked for Center Image, and Scale to Fit Media is also checked.  I've been using PS since version 2 and have always been quite happy with the prints from my Epson printers and the prints from my Photo Lab, but the prints I am getting using CS5 are terrible. All the settings are the same in both the CS4 and CS5 "PRINT" windows.
    HELP!!!!  :-)

I have tried all of these things. I have checked and double-checked the print dialog. Sheet after sheet of paper goes by. Ink, at $40 per tank, is wasted. Results are still wrong. I followed your video. You use an Epson printer. I use an HP. Different print dialogs. different results. Whatever worked in previous PS versions does not work now. PS CS5 requires new settings to get the results that match what was determined by years of evolution and fine-tuning.
I set up all of those print dialog parameters but it required an adjustment layer or two to get the results I got using previous Photoshop. So I could do that with every image I printed with good results using previous versions. There is nothing out of gamut in these images, so I don't have unrealistic expectations about more saturation in the prints. Anyway, it's an 8-color printer that can handle a pretty wide gamut compared to a 4-color.
Wade, I know you are trying to help but this finger-wagging "error in your ways" and "you need to change your ways" stuff is patronizing. I did "change my ways" and try everything in your video. All was not well on the paper. I'm glad it worked out for you but it didn't for me. Accept it. I'm not some novice hobbyist still getting the hang of Photoshop. I've been using Photoshop since version 2. Adobe changed something in CS5. I haven't seen Chis Cox or any Adobe staffer jump into this discussion and say otherwise. Maybe there are no answers from the folks who should know the most about it. Maybe they're working on it.
It's not the first time Adobe has broken a tool. Anyone remember what happened to Outline Stroke in Illustrator CS2? It had previously made a path that could be edited by selecting points but after CS2, it was broken. Illustrator made a filled path that was nearly impossible to edit with all of the overlapping points. It was finally fixed in CS4. It's hard to understand how a useful tool that functioned properly in every version since it was introduced became an unusable mess. Maybe that's the case with PS CS5 and printing.
With 4,300+ posts in 14 months, maybe Wade has more time to tinker and tell us about it. I don't.
Or I could just print in CS4. At this point it's not that important to spend several days of testing to be able to say that CS5 can print my legacy stuff that was created and printed with various color profiles over a 12 year period. Maybe a more disciplined approach to color management would be a good way to work in the future when creating images, I'm dealing with tried-and-true printable images that were not done that way.
As long as Adobe doesn't make me give up CS4 to use CS5, I'll use it for printing.

  • PS CS5 Image Display Differs From Used ICC Profile In Win 7

    Hi,
on my Windows 7 Ultimate x64 machine, I just calibrated my Dell SP2309W monitor using an i1DisplayPro and basICColor 5, creating a ICC v2 profile (I am aware of the problems under Windows with ICC v4 profiles).
It created the ICC profile and applied it to be used by Windows. I double checked under COLOR MANAGEMENT that the new ICC profile is being used. Although I can see that the new ICC is being used (desktop appearance changes), there are a few issues I am experiencing:
    (1.) Windows Photo Viewer
The thumbnails in Windpows Explorer look fine (they DO use the new ICC profile), when I double click a jpeg and open the image it DOES NOT use the new ICC profile. When I click the PLAY SLIDESHOW button (starting the slideshow) in the opened image in Windows Photo Viewer, the images DO use the new ICC profile.
    (2.) Internet Browsers
All current internet browser (Firefox, IE, Safari and Chrome) DO use the new ICC profile and display the image correctly.
    (3.) Photoshop CS 5
When I open the same image - that Windows Photo Viewer does not correctly displays (according to the new ICC profile) - in Photoshop CS5, I get the same image display that Windows Photo Viewer gives me (when not thumbnail or not in slideshow mode) - it appears to be the sRGB display.
My color settings in PS CS5 are: North America General Purpose 2 > sRGB IEC 61966-2.1.
When I go to View > Proof Setup > Monitor RGB I get the image display using the new ICC profile.
Why does the image look different in PS than my calibrated monitor should output ?
I was under the impression (please correct me if I am wrong), that the sole purpose for calibrating my monitor was to get a uniform display across (ICC aware) applications. Even when one applies different color spaces to a document in PS, I thought the output on my calibrated screen done by the graphic card should always be according to my calibration and the settings in the ICC profile being used.
What Am I doing wrong or what am I misunderstanding ?
Any help or input is appreciated !
    Thanks.
    - M

    Hello,
A note on monitor calibration: calibrating your monitor will not guarentee that every application will display color correctly, it's more of a step along the pipeline, and for the preview part of a color workflow it's the last step.  Here's how color translation follows for an ICC workflow when previewing to a monitor:
Image Color Numbers > Document Tag or Workspace Profile > Monitor Profile
For non-color managed applications, if the original document is or isn't tagged with a color profile it will be translated directly to the monitor profile anyway.  This is the equivalent in Photoshop of selecting "Monitor" in soft proofing.  Selecting monitor in softproofing will bypass the tagged or workspace profile to translate colors directly through the monitor profile.
For most automatic color managed applications (like Firefox), the image will be translated through the tagged profile and then sent through the monitor profile.  If the image is untagged or the profile is unrecognized, the colors get sent directly to the monitor profile.
For Photoshop, a tagged document will have its profile respected and then sent to the monitor.  An untagged document will be assigned the workspace profile, which acts like a temporary document profile, and then gets sent to the monitor.  This is often why users will notice Photoshop behaves differently from other applications.  It's usually a case of the workspace coming into play.  By default the workspace profile is set to sRGB.  You can change this in Edit > Color Settings.
The purpose of the workspace is originally for printing workflows, as a way of keeping consistant color translations when dealing with both tagged and untagged documents.  For web output workflows it can be useful for viewing everything through sRGB, which is typical of the average monitor output (not so with newer wide-gamut monitors, another source of confusion...) combined with the fact that originally most web browsers were not color managed.  Hence viewing everything through sRGB is pretty close to what most monitors see and what untagged/unmanaged docs will look like.
Monitor calibration is useful only because it brings your monitor output to a "known state".  In traditional workflows the monitor was always a middle-man, a preview device which was useful for getting an idea of what the printed output would look like before you print it.  Since print colorspaces are often smaller than display spaces, it's feasible and useful to narrow down the monitor/display space and calibrate it to a known state, so that even if it doesn't totally match the print, you'll get used to its differences/limitations and they'll be consistent so long as the calibration is maintained.
For web output, your final output is often another user's computer monitor, which can have any form of behavior (most standard monitors are pretty close to sRGB, or use sRGB as an operating system workspace (default monitor profile).  Wide gamuts behave differently, but I'm not sure if there's a particular ICC space that they closely match, or if different wide-gamuts are even that close to each other in their display color spaces.
    Hope this helps!

  • How are pre-named software tracks different from 'new' tracks ?

We have these software tracks or audio tracks with names like Percussion , guitar , piano etc......how are these tracks different from a track which we make from menu as a new track ?
Like we have various effect presets in guitar tracks is it so all these pre named tracks have some specific presets assigned ?
or if I'm recording in a midi track it can be any name all the tracks have same parameters and a region will sound same in any of them effectwise ??

All predefined instrument patches are having a set of suitable effects and filters assigned. YOu can see these in the "Info" panel, after you select an instrument your track. Click the "Edit" tab, and you will see, how the predfined patches differ.
For a midi track, the sound generator will differ dependng on the instrument group, and some basic effects will be predefined, like "Compressor". YOu can click the empty bricks to add your own effects.

  • My albums in Itunes are different from those on my Ipod

I've collected songs in different albums in Itunes (like the 90's), but when I sync my Ipod, there are songs from the same album that stand apart (I get 3 times 'the 90's as album). I've already tried 'compilation' and all the information is the same for each song... How can I change this, so all of the songs are in the same album on my Ipod?

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iWeb's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
    User/Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder.
3 - reboot, launch iWeb, reset the colors and try again.
NOTE:  In Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • Why are my contacts in icloud different to those on my iphone?

Why are my contacts only partially downloaded to icloud and also in a different format? I want them to be exactly the same as on my iphone 4.

Welcome to the Apple Community Rob.
    Please try the following…
        1.    First check that all your settings are correct, that contact syncing is checked on all devices (system preferences > iCloud on a mac and settings > iCloud on a iPhone, iPad or iPod).
        2.    Make sure the contacts you are adding are added to your 'iCloud' group and not an 'On My Mac', 'On My Phone' or other non iCloud group (you can do this by checking in groups), non iCloud contacts will not sync.
        3.    If you are sure that everything is set up correctly and your contacts are in the iCloud group, you might try unchecking contact syncing in the iCloud settings, restarting your device and then re-enabling contact syncing.

  • Why are printer managed color prints different from Photoshop managed color prints using the same color profile?.

I'm using Photoshop 13.0.1, Windows 7, to print images using custom color profiles made with an XRite colorimeter.  However, when I print the image using Printer Manages Color, it is not the same as Photoshop Manages the colors and selecting the Canon ICC profile that (Canon 7200 MP2) that is the same as the printer managed settings.  Why are these prints not the same if the same color profile is being accessed??

    Hi WA Veghe,
    >First: DO synchronize, makes sure you have the same profile settings and color mange settings.
I don't seem to be able to synchronize between CS4 (Photoshop) and CS3 (Indesign).
It seems I have to do without synchronizing..
    >I do not seem to find HOW you are diplaying images on you screen: with Soft proofing?
What happens if you soft proof in Photoshop and InDesign on screen: View > Proof colors. Do you proof with the same profiles, both simulate paper and black on?
I can simulate Proof Colors (working CMYK), but not simulate Paper, both in Indesign and Photoshop.
Problem is: SAME settings in Photoshop and Indesign BUT the image displayed in Photoshop is brighter and more saturated.
So which image should I correct after?
    thanks for all help

  • Why are link default library dirs different from runtime default dirs?

I'm fairly new to Linux and Arch in particular. I've been trying to get around most issues by myself and I've been successful in general. In fact, I'm writing not so much because of a problem, but to better understand why the solution I found works, and if it is the right solution for my case.
So, I downloaded the source for a library I wanted to use (SFML if you're curious), built it and installed it. Looking around the net it seemed that the proper place to install things you compile yourself is /usr/local, so the libs went to /usr/local/lib. So far so good.
I then made a quick test application to make sure everything was working properly (source can be seen here: http://www.sfml-dev.org/tutorials/2.1/start-linux.php). It built correctly, but when I tried to run it I got an error that the library could not be found. So looking the error up in google, I found people saying you had to set the $LD_LIBRARY_PATH to the lib directory. In fact, at the end of the SFML tutorial it suggests this as well, but only if you install in a non-standard directory.
I found it odd that I should specify this variable. Had it been unset by something I did? Should I have set it before? I hadn't had to specify the directory when I built the program, which made it seem as though /usr/local/lib was a default directory. So why wasn't the library being found?
A bit more research uncovered that one should not in fact rely on $LD_LIBRARY_PATH for this, but instead you should specify it when building with -rpathDIR, so that the executable itself knows where to look. And indeed, setting this option when building fixed the issue.
My question then, is: why do I have to specify the library path for runtime, but not when building? Is it normal for usr/local/lib to not be searched, or did I break something in my install? Is GCC just trying to be helpful and tripping me up by looking in places that are reasonable for libraries to be, but that the system itself won't search?
    Last edited by jp.garibotti (2014-02-09 20:14:54)

Well, after reading and getting to know the AUR a bit, at least I know why /usr/local/lib wasn't searched.
So, if I got it right, I have to use the AUR to download the build script to build a package. Then I use pacman to install that package. This sends the relevant binaries to where they need to go, which is where the system will look for them.
So as long as I stay inside the build system, everything will go fine.
If I don't build shared libraries myself, and limit myself to running my own executables, I shouldn't need to worry about the build system beyond this. If I ever want to send something I did to someone else, however, I need to create a package for them to build, which will have to work with whatever distribution package manager they have. Assuming I want to keep everything tidy.
There is one more thing I'm not clear on, though. So I installed the packages, headers are in /usr/include, but where should I place the sources? If I want to debug something and follow a call into the library, for example?

  • IPod Used space differs from space used in iTunes

The total capacity for my 20GB iPod color is about 18.5 GB
My songs in iTunes take up 8.33 GB, according to the info at the bottom of the iTunes window. But when clicking on iPod on the left under "source," the iPod info reads that i have 8.49 GB used. Now here's the thing. I have no podcasts. No photos. No items on the hard drive. Nothing else but music. AND, I have about 30 songs on iTunes that are unchecked so that they are not updated into the iPod.
So shouldn't my Used space on the iPod be LESS than the amount of music I have in iTunes? Why is it more?
    Any ideas?

    This may be the problem.
    Strange iPod behavior.

  • How to Open a Specific Folder in the Finder via Shortcut Key

I'm sure this has been covered elsewhere, so sorry for not finding it...
Is it possible to assign a shortcut key to open a specific folder with Automator or AppleScript? There are 4-5 commonly used folders buried 10-11 levels deep on a server and I'd love to have a shortcut key to open those particular folders in the Finder.
Could you give me some assistance?
    Thanks!

QuickKeys may work, or you can look on http://www.versiontracker.com or http://www.macupdate.com for other alternatives.
Another option is to create aliases to those folders and store the aliases in a local folder which you can place on your Dock, the Finder window sidebar or toolbar.

  • AS2 Keyboard Controls Different from Mac to Windows

I'm using the following code to allow the user to pause playback by pressing the Enter key on a Mac:
    begin.onPress = function(){

    pause.onPress = function(){
        stop();
    next.onPress = function(){

The main clip plays and when I press the Enter key on the keyboard, it stops. I also have some stops in some Frames so it stops at various scenes. Press Enter again and it plays. But on Windows it doesn't work. I have to press Alt-Enter for it to work. Is there a way to get Windows keyboards to work the way I want, the same way that it works on a Mac?

Is this due to a setting in Firefox? Is it possible to achieve the kind of directwrite rendering that IE10 is providing?
