1/4 of my Safari screen is washed out muted colors. This happens only in Safari. Is there a way to fix this so
I have the whole screen displaying the Safari page ?

Wow! That definitely sounds weird. Have you attempted to quit the Safari application and restart your iPad? If not, I’d definitely do so:

You could use a browser that does not use Flash or Java, as a safety measure when visiting sites; the Safari browser has no support or recent updates. TenFourFox v 24 is fairly good, and uses later Mozilla code, is compatible with powerPC computer limitations. SeaMonkeyPPC has a similar code, but acts a little different; and there still is iCab, a good browser that will run free, but asks you get a $20. license.
The Safari browser can be used to set a different browser up as system default, so it won't launch and open attachments or web pages; it has a setting in its preferences where you choose another browser as default. As I have four or five browsers and one dedicated to gmail (launched as signed-in, through notifier) that is how I've used the default, otherwise mine are all in the Dock.
There is no new upgrade for Adobe Flash plugin player, etc; but the one in their site for vintage is still available at getflash player at Adobe. Most prompts online are to get you something else, even adware loads up from some not-so-clever efforts to get people to install junk. So go to the source. Someone wrote a patch that is supposed to allow a later version of Flash player to work in older 10.5.8 PPC Mac, but I have not tried it.
The thread of security is mostly based on the user and their caution to avoid odd free software and also avoid some sites that try to get people to load cleanmymac or genieo, or other adware malware voluntarily. Those are troublesome and hard to remove, and can waste processor cycles, slow the computer & mess it up. Mostly from a browser the adware issues arise. So anyway, there is really nothing new on the face of it for obsolete OS X systems users.

Note that the latest Flash Player update only works on YouTube with Safari in 32 bit mode - until YouTube correct this.

HT4718 are there any reported problems with safari with the new OS X Mavericks?

My early 2008 iMac running OS X 10.9.2 all of the sudden has problems loading pages in safari. The problem timing is the same as the upgrade to Maverick. The computer is connecting to wifi and other devices such as iPhones and three PCs have no problems. The ISP is Xfinity. Are there any reported problems with Maverick and Safari?

If you're browsing the web and you're internet connection is slow or sometimes dropping, it is normal for Safari to hang or freeze for a little bit until it connects to the site you're trying to view or visit.
Try this - go to system preferences - network - advance - dns and change your dns server.

Ok ...
Try troubleshooting extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Create Project Web App Instance - Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?

Hi
New Installation. Sharepoint 2013, Project Server 2013 and SQL Server 2008 SP1 (another box).
When I try to create Project Web App Instance, I get
Provisioning 'PWA': Post provisioning setup failed. Exception 'Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?
Followed by:
Failed to provision site PWA with error: Microsoft.SharePoint.SPException: Failed to find Project Site object. Are there any database mounted?
Already tried reinstalling the whole farm to no avail. Farm Admin account is used to do everything within this process.

I was reading through SFS documentation for a vendor-analysis - I can see Oracle provides bespoke ASAP Cartridges for various NE's,Tech Packages for UIM.
I was wondering if there is any bespoke cartridges (except for the demo sales one) offered along with the product or licensed separately.
My understanding is that the O2A cartridge is a prebuilt set of integrated orchestration flows, application integration logic, and extensible enterprise business objects and services required to manage the state and performance of a defined set of activities or tasks between specific Oracle applications. This however is service agnostics.
So are there any bespoke OSM cartridges available leveraging domain knowledge and based on working with telcos?

OSM provides only O2A PIP cartridges and is not providing any bespoke cartridges. As most of the network elements used by different telcos are similar, and the way ASAP communicates to these network elements for various operations is same, it is easy to provide cartridges for various NE's. But in OSM, no two companies have same flow in providing a specific service to the customers. So it is difficult to provide such cartridges.
O2A PIP cartridges can be customized as per end user requirements.

Are there any programmatic means of reducing paging and increasing efficiency of insert/updates?

We have a multi-terabyte database which daily receives tens of thousands of records to insert or update. Most online advice on reducing memory paging covers server memory options and dynamic memory management techniques.
Are there any tested programmatic or database design techniques that could also be explored to increase efficiency?

Four hours seems a bit long for 100k rows to merge, say half updates and half new inserts (and whatever you do about deletes, maybe treat them as slowly changing dimensions), but my first move would be to just treat it as an optimization question and use
the profiler to get a list of the longest running and most expensive queries, and see if they can be individually improved.
Just basic stuff - do you handle the rows one at a time and commit for each one, or are the processes done relationally and with one commit per batch?

Are there any fixes for the iPad 2 IOS 8.1.1? I've had problems with Safari and other Apps crashing or locking up, and with extremely slow touch response. These problems have been occurring since the last update. At times the iPad becomes unusable. I have been keeping all programs closed and history and web site data cleared. I have exactly the same problem. The device was my favorite computer until 8.1.1. Now it runs s-l-o-w-l-y, requires endless reboots.
To improve the performamce, I have tried these:
1.Go to Setting->General->Accessibility->Reduce Motion. Turn on.
2.Reset iPad device settings using Setting->General->Reset->Reset All Settings. Its increase iPad performance little better.
3.Hold the sleep/wake button and home button upto 8 seconds. This will turn off your iPad. Then turn on iPad. Wait few moments. Do the same thing twice to solve this issue.
Solution 3 worked for me. And, I always recommend you to backup your iPad first before any action to avoid any data loss.

Are There Any Applications Like "Paint" on Windows?

I'm a new Mac user and can't get used to the MacOSX layout.I installed an application from the downloads section last night for an application called paintbrush, because i need a basic Paint application to crop pictures etc.
But it's useless. Are there any other applications that anyone can recommend that will do basic paint style duties??

If all you want to do is crop pictures; do minor color, contrast, color temperature, & similar photo-oriented tasks, try iPhoto, which is already installed on your MacBook. You can also do more than you might think with Preview, another application included with every MacBook. Many of the features are not immediately obvious, so it is a good idea to browse through the help topics for each app to get an idea of what they can do.
If you are willing to spend some cash on a more capable application, I recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac, about $80 from Amazon.com & other outlets. This app is getting great reviews for its capabilities & ease of use, & got a "Best of Show" award at MacWorld 2008. I bought it recently & love it (unlike the old 2.0 version it replaced, which was fairly capable but burdened with such a lousy user interface that I rarely used it).

Are there any additional Captivate themes available?

I have been tasked with designed and producing a series of e-learning courses and although I have ID experience, I am not a graphics designer. There are a handful of themes available in Captivate 8, but I was hoping to have a wider selection. Are there any additional themes available for download? I have found one site (elearningbrothers) but we do not have the budget available. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Andy

If you're a graphic designer, I would fully expect you to be capable of creating your own themes. It's not that hard.
Google for the Youtube videos by Pooja Jaisingh about creating themes for Captivate 7, then go for it.

You can increase the value but this increases the chance of work processes being blocked (eventual system standstill situations possible). I assume you have reviewed note <a href="http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/25528">25528</a> and other documentation about this parameter. There can be some reasons why 600 is not high enough also for current needs..
Normally if you have very long running database accesses, than this indicates that the program is in a loop or no suitable index exist for this access so that a full table scan is performed or the optimizer has a problem with the statement.
You can check as well if the reason for the long running task is:
- Overload of the SAP System and/or of the database
- Waiting for locks in the DB
