Arrays into the fromula node?

Hello,
I am trying to convert my voltages into pressures via the formula node but I am having trouble.
The situation is follows, I have a 1D array of single and I want to convert them using the formula node.
When I enter the equation into the node it tells me that there is an error on line 1 left brace needed.
What is the left brace, this must sound silly but I have no idea what to do.
Please help.
I have other formula nodes working fine but the inputs into them are not arrays they are just single elements (the mean of 1000 points for example).
Thanks
lp19

In order to output an array from a formula node, you must declare the array variable.
float32 Y[100]; /* Declare 100-element array output
Inside the formula node, you must work with the arrays just like in C. The left brace is this -> [. It is looking for something like Y[0] = 1 + X[0]; where X is an array input. To make things simple you may consider placing your Formula node as it stands right now into a FOR loop. Your 1D array input will auto-index and your output will become an array as it tunnels out of the loop.

  • How can i save the output array of the invoke node "commands values" into a specific file

    I must save the setup of vi commands'. I use an invoke node called "command value" wich give me an array with the name of the specific command and his value. How can i save this array into a specific file to load it later if o need. Must i change the array format?
    Thank you

    Hi,
    I have attached two VIs.
    The first one "Ecriture fichier tableau" (writer) permits to collect all control's values in an array (dbl) and to save it as .bin file. You had to convert variant type into dbl type. (You can do the same with string type if you wish. You will save datas as .txt file for example)
    The second VI "Lecture tableau fichier" (reader) permits to retrieve all the datas you saved in the file.
    I think this responds to your question.

  • Storing an array into the database using jdbc

    Hi,
    ive got a problem storing an array into a database. I want to store objects consisting of several attributes. One of these attributes is an array containing several int values. I dont know exactly what is the best way to store these objects into a database. I have created two tables connected by a one to many relationship of which one stores the array values and the other table stores the object containing the array. Is that ok or should I use another way. Its the first time Im trying to store objects containing arrays into a database so Im very uncertain in which way this should be done.
    Thanks in advance for any tips

    1. You should use blob or longvarbianry type colum to stor that array.
    2. All object in that array should be Serializable.
    3. Constuct a PreparedStatement object
    4. Convert array to byte[] object
    ByteArrayOutputStream baos=null;
    ObjectOutputStream objectOutputStream=null;
    baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream(bufferSize);
    objectOutputStream = new ObjectOutputStream(baos);
    objectOutputStream.writeObject(array);
    objectOutputStream.flush();
    baos.flush();
    byte[] value=baos.toByteArray();
    5. Now you can use PreparedStatement.setBytes function to insert byte[] value.

  • Replace an array into the array of cluster!! Possible?

    Hello,
    I got a problem with inserting an array I acquired from another vi into the existing array of cluster. My big array contains a cluster of 5 elements (name, value, save, active and position. I want to connect my sub vi ,whose output is an array of number, to the main vi by replacing only the values in the main array. So all values in the main array are acquired from the sub vi but the remaining data stays the same. I also want my main array to look the same too, except the values have changed. I know it sounds quite simple but I don't really know it.
    Thanks in advance

    I guess you need something like this. This will replace the values present in the main array with the values obtained from the sub vi.
    Good luck

  • How to insert a 2D array into the end of X axis of the initial array?

    Hi, friends, I have a question and look for an advice. I have several input data, each of which has 4 rows and unknow columns. Each time I receive the input, I need to combine it to all of the previous ones by adding it to the end of X axis of the previous combined data. I must do it because, later, I need to run my model and my model read input for each column of 4 rows. How should I do it? Also, should I initiate an array before reading all of the inputs? The inputs are F32 format. Thank you very much for any of your advice.

    Building a 2D array row-by-row is easy. You either use "build array" if you need to update the indicator during the run, or you simply autoindex at the loop  boundary (FOR or WHILE).
    Two possibilities are shown in the attached image. If your arrays are getting large and you use a while loop, there are possibilities that are more memory efficient. You would initialize a 2D array (e.g. filled with NaNs) of an upper boundary of the final expected size, then replace rows as you go.
    (Notice that if you use autoindexing on a FOR loop, the final size is known from the beginning so memory can be allocated efficiently)

  • How to pass 1D array into matlab?

    1 had 2 1-D array
    array1 = 1D array signed 32-bit integer numeric
    array2 = 1D array double-precision floating-point numeric
    how do i pass this 2 arrays to matlab script??
    help....as i'm very new to both labview and matlab.
    thks,lyn

    LabVIEW has a Matlab Script Node (Programs >> Mathematics >> Formula) that you can use to interface between the two programs. To pass arrays into the script node do the following:
    1. Right-click on the left edge and select "Add Input"
    2. Give the input a variable name in the termainal that was created.
    3. Right click on the terminal and select Choose Data Type >> Real Vector.
    You can now wire the 1D array to this terminal. You enter your Matlab Commands as text inside the node and you can create outputs the same way to created inputs.

         There is another file which creates an array of strings with the instance Q in this class ^
    I'm trying to fill the combobox with the values of the array but I can't get it too work. With the code as it is now I get:
    C:\Users\Boab\Desktop\Seperate Java files\NewQuiz\Quizgame\Quizgame.java:41: cannot find symbol
    symbol : constructor JComboBox(Quizbook)
    location: class javax.swing.JComboBox

    ^
    1 error
    I don't really understand why it doesn't work, When I look up the error online its about the class but it works fine without the Combobox line. Any ideas why it won't put the array into the combobox?
    Also my next step is to put only certain values into the combobox i.e values 2-4 in the array, Is there any smart piece of code to do this or do I need to put a loop in with an addcontent and hardcode it?
    Thanks for any help

    Yeah sorry, Quizbook is a class with a method to read out the array the method is:
         public String getContent(int element)
              //access arraylist and return
              return (String)Quizbook.get(element);
         so I tried what you said and put :
    JComboBox Answer = new JComboBox(Q.getContent(5));
    Because the Answer is at that location in the array but it gave me the same error message:
    C:\Users\Boab\Desktop\Seperate Java files\NewQuiz\Quizgame\Quizgame.java:41: cannot find symbol
    symbol : constructor JComboBox(java.lang.String)
    location: class javax.swing.JComboBox
              JComboBox Answer = new JComboBox(Q.getContent(3));
    ^
    1 error
    Process completed.
    So I would of thought that meant use the getContent method from Q object with element bieng 3?

  • Array output from formula node with input variable as array size

    Hi,
    I have created a formula node with an array output called al, but I get an error "you have connected a scalar type to an array with that type".
    I declare the output as follows..
    float64 al[len_as];
    where len_as is an scalar input to the formula node.
    It only works when I put a number as.
    float64 al[5];
    ,but I don't know beforehand how many elements I need, so I cannot use this.
    Please help! This is so stupid.
    Thanks

    Don't define your array in your formula node.
    Initialize the array as the size you want and pass it in as an input into the formula node.
    Are you sure you even need to use a formula node?  Can you implement your formula using all native LabVIEW functions?

  • Inserting a associative array into a table

    Hi,
    I am working on a process where I want to store the temporary results in an associative array. At the end of the process I plan to write the contents of the array into a table that has the same structure. (the array is defined as a %rowtype of the table)
    Is it possible to execute ONE sql statement that transfers the array into the table? I am on 10g (10.2.0.4.0)
    Here's what I have now:
    declare
      type t_emp is table of emp%rowtype index by pls_integer;
      v_emp t_emp;
    begin
      -- a process that fills v_emp with lots of data
      for i in v_emp.first .. v_emp.last
      loop
        insert into emp values v_emp(i);
      end loop;
    end;But it would be better if the loop could be replaced by sql one statement that inserts all of v_emp into emp. Is that possible?
    Thanks!
    PS: I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to use this approach... building a table in memory and inserting it into the database at the end of the process. Maybe it's better to insert every record directly into the table... but in any case I'm curious to see if it is possible in theory :)
    Edited: Added version info

    True, SQL cannot access the PL/SQL type.
    So you can not do something like this:
    insert into emp
    select * from table(v_emp)That is not possible.
    But FORALL is possible:
    FORALL i in v_emp.first .. v_emp.last
        insert into emp values v_emp(i);FORALL makes just one "round trip" to SQL bulk binding the entire contents of the array.
    It is much more efficient than the normal FOR loop, though it is mostly a PL/SQL optimization - even the FORALL actually inserts the rows "one at the time", it just hands the entire array to the SQL engine in one go.
    If the logic has to be done procedurally, FORALL is efficient.
    If the logic can be changed so arrays can be avoided completely and everything done in a single "insert into ... select ..." statement, that is the most efficient.

  • Add time stamp array into first column of text file

    I am writing daq output to a file by using array to spreadsheet string vi then write that to a file but I would like to add a time stamp array into the first column of the text file. How do I do this?

    When you use a DAQmx Read, you have the option of returning a waveform data type. This includes time data. If you were to use this and either Export Waveforms to Spreadsheet File or Write Measurement File, this would included. To stick with the regular Write to Spreadsheet File, you would have to create an array of timestamps yourself based on a start time and the sample rate of the DAQ. Then you would convert this and the data array to strings and use the string array type of Write to Spreadsheet instead of the DBL type.

  • How to insert data from file into matlab script node

    I have interfaced input data from file to be processed using matlab script node. But the problem is that I could not capture the multiple data into matlab script node and to convert it into matrix. Further to this I need to process the data by plotting graphs from it. Thank you in advance for the advice

    Zarina,
    To clarify your problem, you have a script node contaning your Matlab code. Are you then using the standard LV functions to load in your data from a file and pass it into the script node?

  • I need to take elements from within 2 nested for loops and place them in an array at the specific row and column that I need.

    I have tried intializing an array and replacing elements by specifying a particular row, and column, but in the end I get an array with only one element replaced, and I suspect that it is because as the for loops are running through their iterations each time the array is re-initializing. I have a simple vi that I will post below, it is not the exact situation that I have but is a good place for me to get some understanding. I have the row and column indexes being driven by the inner and outer loop iterations, which gives me the pattern I need. I am using the inner iterations as array elements. How do I set this up so that it works and d
    oes keep re-initializing my array.

    I have fixed a number of things in your vi.
    You were right in thinking that the array was continuously re-initialized. To avoid this, use a shift register (right-click the loop border), which will pass the updated array into the next iteration.

  • Is there a way the user can change the equation in the formular node from the front panel on the fly, dynamically?

    Is there a way the user can change the equation in the formular node from the front panel on the fly, dynamically?

    Sorry, I don't think so. That would be pretty cool if you could create a property node for a formula node and then enter a formula on the front panel and use it to update the formula. But you can't create a property node for a formula node and the only way of modifying the formula is by typing it into the formula node on the diagram. And you can't modify a diagram of a running VI.
    You could create a VI which is only a formula node with the maximum number of inputs and outputs you expect. Have a button on the calling VI to Edit Formula. When the button is pressed, use a VI server to display the front panel on the formula VI, display a dialog box telling the user how to display the diagram of the formula VI, then stop the calling VI. (You can't edit a sub-VI while t
    he calling VI is running). The user will then need to rerun the calling VI to use the new formula.
    You might be able to do something by calling MatLab or something like that to get an interactive formula window.

  • Dynamically loading the MathScript Node

    Hi - Is it possible to dynamically load script into the Mathscript Node at Run time. I see that you can use define functions and paths and things . But being a newbie to Mathscript could all this hang together to make dynamic loading a possibility and how?
    thanks dht

    Hi,
      unfortunately the node doesn't support run-time dynamic loading of scripts. You can load variable values with the load function, but not scripts.
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361A-01/lvtextmath/msfunc_load/
    http://zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361A-01/lvhowto/saving_loading_scripts/
    Depending on your application, you could use a case statement to decide between several pre-built (and possibly compiled) mathscript nodes, and acheive the functionality that way.
    Another option might be to use the formula vi's instead, although this will require a more complex architecture to parse the text file you'd generate.

  • Array into cluster

    How do I input an array into the middle of a cluster?
    Thanks

    It does not really help if you keep repeating cryptic messages.
    A cluster has no "middle"!
    Why don't you attach a VI that has reasonable input values as control defaults and an indicator with the desired cluster, again containing the desired outcome as default value. This way we can easily see what you actually mean. Thanks!
