Article database like in sdn

Hello,
I am new to WD4J and would like to know how to program something like the articles database in SDN (https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/articles-30days)
How can I program something that with WebDynpro for JAVA? Has someone some example-code for this?
Is it true that in the navigation on the left side shorturls are used?
Do you think that the different articles (link, name and description) are programmed using a formattedTextView?
Thx, Maximilian

For the search results you could either use a RowRepeater or a container with programmatically created LinkToURL, TextView, Caption elements etc.

  • Date format in different databases like DB2, MS SQL, Oracle etc.

    Hi,
Is there any standard date format, which works on any database like DB2, MS SQL Server, or Oracle 8i.
Right now I am using specific format for each database.
I am using the following syntax to retrieve the records on Jun 14, 2001.
    MS SQL Server:
    select * from tablename where
    CONVERT(character(10),ReceiptDateTime, 120) >='2001-06-14'
    and CONVERT(character(10), ReceiptDateTime , 120) <'2001-06-15'
    Oracle:
    select * from tablename where
    TO_CHAR(ReceiptDateTime,'YYYY-MM-DD') >= '2001-06-14'
    AND TO_CHAR(ReceiptDateTime,'YYYY-MM-DD') < '2001-06-15'
Is there any way we can generalize the date formt?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Naidu

    Hi,
Perhaps any difference when you compare the outcomes of
    SQL> select * from nls_database_parameters;
    SQL> select * from nls_session_parameters;on both databases?

  • Connect to different Databases like Oracle, SqlServer,Access,Db2

    Hi all,
i'm in the process of developing an application using jsp , which should be capable of connecting to all datbases like Oracle, SQL Server,Access DB2, Sybase etc,
    How can i establish that?
Also what all are things i need to take care, which are specific to each of these databases, like datatype differences etc?
Any information or links with sample codes is helpfull.
    regards.
    Isaac

Theoretically if you use just the JDBC API then you should be able to access all these databases. This will be true if you're not using 'exotic' datatypes or functionality. If you are, then you may be in for problems - for example I've had problems with clobs and Oracle that required Oracle specific code, which goes against what you're doing. If that happens, just have call outs to helper classes that use the vendor specific stuff, and only load these classes if you detect that particular JDBC driver, and abstract these vendor specific classes to a standard interface.

  • Store xml files in the database like Microsoft Access

    Dear friends,
I have come up here with a problem. I have to insert xml files in the database like Microsoft Access.
So would somebody help me out.
The query syntax to insert file and then retreive it back from database.
How would u do it with picture files?
I am waiting for your help.
    Thanks in advance.
    Yours Truly,
    Khawaja Salman Sarfraz

Large files are usually stored as binary large objects (BLOBS.) I think MS Access calls these Memo fields.

  • How can get a database like ****.SQL file for test in sqlplus in oracle8i

How can get a database like ****.SQL file for test in sqlplus in oracle8i,I am a beginner, thanks

I'll give it a guess as to what it is you want but I'm afraid you'll have to give some more information to go on. I appreciate it's difficult for people who are beginners or who don't have English as their first language.
Are you trying to run a SQL file? From SQL*plus you can do either of these:
    SQL> start my_file
    or
    SQL> @my_file
N.B.: if th efile has a .sql extension you don't need to include it, but you do for any other file extension e.g.
    SQL> @myfile.run

  • How to select rows from database like 10 to 20 etc

    Hi Experts,
I want to select rows from database like row number 10 to row number 20.How could it be done?

    HI,
First get the data into the INTERNAL TABLE from the FLAT FILE and read the internal table using the index.
ex: 1) Read table ITAB index 10.
              2) Read table ITAB index 20.
or use as said by  Srinivas Gurram, to get the range of records using where condition to the loop.

  • Article database

    Hello,
I want to develop an article management (users can upload a pdf and input informations about the resource like author, category, year, publisher, ... ).
I have a resource and for this resource several customer properties like author, category, year,... I have posted before and one of the replies was to watch the tutorial for the bulleting board. I did it and got an overview about the possibilites. Unfortunately I don't get the whole picture and there are some informations not fitting in my brain. Maybe someone can help me how to realize the steps:
    - First of all I would like to create my customer properties for a resource. The path should be /documents/articles. The attributes author, category (technical documentation, summary, ...), year, tags (web dynpro abap, web dynpro java, ... ).
What do I need to see this attributes in an dialog to upload an resource.  The properties in the bulletin board tutorial are not associated with a resource. There I don't get the point with the several steps I have do in order to see the properties. Can I use the default namespace (like it is in the bulletin board tutorial) or should I create an own? Is there somewhere a step by step guide?
    - To a resource could belong another resource (like a practice). How can I associate the main resource to other resources? If there is no possibility I would just put some fields as resource properties for the urls to the resource.
Sorry for asking about this stuff again, but like I told. I don't get the point with all this.
    Thanks, Vanessa

Hi Vanessa, I haven't checked the tutorial you mentioned so I'm not sure what possibilities
you've seen so far, anyways here goes my solution:
First thing to do is create the properties (author, year, document type, etc). Have a special
    attention to the following properties:
Folder Validity Patterns: you wanna classify documents, so it's unlikely any of your properties
will apply to folders, if that's the case leave this field blank (!! default value is /** so change it)
Document Validity Patterns: make this something like /documents/articles/** so every document
below this path will have the metadata you're creating
That should answer the resource association with property question
It's up to you to use a default namespace or a create one, it's good to have a custom namespace so you
have your customers' metadata organized, also avoid conflicting names (eg: author already exists
    in default namespace)
By now it should be already possible to set the properties when uploading documents, if you
used default configuration the properties should be on the Miscellaneous tab, depending on your
requirements checking the Mandatory option on the properties would make sure no document is
    uploaded without proper definitions.
Having your own tab, groups, and friendly labels with tooltips and all requires more effort, please
refer to the following document to in depth details regarding propreties:
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/de31ec90-0201-0010-be95-f501d25027a8
It's not possible to bind a document to another on stadard way, i'd suggest to have a property like
"see also" or "related documents" where you put a link to document (There is a See Also
KM command but I never used it so dunno how it works)
    hope it helps,
    Rafael

  • Newspaper article database application

I am working on an application that would store and retrieve articles related to the work of our organization in the local newspapers. I work at a government ministry and there are quite a few articles in the newspapers every day. Generally, the print newspapers have online versions. The application is simple enough: I need a tab page to enter the info of the article itself, another tab page to hold the image of article (clipped from the online version of the paper). Since I have not worked with raw data types before, I need some guidance as to the best way to implement this application beginning at the table definition.
Since I plan to use forms, I thought I post the question in this forum.
    All help is appreciated.

I need some guidance as to the best way to implement this application beginning at the table definition.I am guessing you mean the underlying datatypes? Well, as you are going to store large character data one way might be to store your articles in clobs.
You might as well look at oracle text as well if you want to query your data:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/text.102/b14217/overview.htm
As for manually entering the articles in the database: you do know that most news sites have their own rss feeds you simply need to tap in to get the needed data automatically. Just get the articles from the rss feeds of your newspapers of interest, parse them as you like and store them in the database fitting your needs. No need for human boredom while copy&pasting hundreds of articles a day into a form ;)
    cheers

  • How do I create a UDL for a Cloud-based Database like Amazon ?

I have been using UDL connections to SQL Server without any issues.
I was just asked to look in to Cloud-based databases, but I'm not sure ho to create a connection to the databases once they have been created.
Has anyone done anything like this?
If so, do you have an example the you can share?
    Keith

Unless the cloud based database you are interested in does provide an ODBC and/or OLE/ADO driver there is no way to connect to this database through the LabVIEW Database Toolkit or any other of the Database Toolkits out there that can use an UDL.
However if you talk specifically about a service like Amazon RDS then this is based on a database engine of MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle SQL or PostgreSQL depending what the client chose when setting up the DB in the Amazon cloud and as such you simply would have to use the according database driver and get the correct internet address to connect to. What address that would need to be should be most likely visible in the setup console program or as Amazon calls it the AWS Management Console.

  • Any one used ADF+BC+JDEV with other databases like MySQL

    Hi
Thank you for reading my post
    i used Jdeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 and OC4J standalone 10.1.3.1.0
it looks like that BC+ADF faces just works fine with ORACLE database because two days i stocked with running JDEV+BC+ADF faces with a mysql or Derby databse.
I tried with both embeded oc4j and i copy the mysql jdbc driver and also derby jdbc driver to
    j2ee/home/lib
    j2ee/home/alib
so there should be no problem as far as i worked with other apps.
then i create a library for each of those drivers in Jdeveloper to be able to create BC from tables.
I create a war deployment profile to be able to deploy the application to StanAlone OC4j
All i get when i tried to run the jsf file with embeded OC4J is like :

and all i get when i tried to run it with standalone OC4J is :
    500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: Security sensitive exception occured. Please consult application log for details. for standalone OC4J i enter the administration console and test the connection pool that IDE created during deployment and it was ok when i test the connection pool / datasource.
so , What is the problem ? can please some one help me on this ?
I tried the same scenario with ORACLE 10G and it works fine.
    so my questions are :
1-does OC4J 10.1.3.1.0 has problem with none oracle databases?
2-does BC that come with Jdev has problem with none oracle database ?
3-am i wrong in one of my steps ?
please some one give me some hints

OK, thanks to Peter Hanusiak, and Oracle Consulting consultant in Slovakia, I have resolved my issue and I'm hoping that the same solution may apply for you. See below for the instructions from Peter that helped me out. Note that since our applications are different, the specific libraries and locations that you need to confirm compatibility for may be different.
    Hope this helps,
    Dave
I had similar problem. And in my case it was caused by different ADF from JDev and SOA Suite and SOA order booking demo.
Because I can't test it now, I'll tell just what I remember.
In SOADEMO is somewhere folder SOADEMO-CLIENT\UserInterface\public_html\WEB-INF\lib
    where you can find
    adf-faces-impl.jar
    jsf-impl.jar
Try to find exactly the same libs in Jdev and copy&paste from Jdev to SOADEMO folder. then find the libs in SOASuite, and copy&paste from Jdev to SOA Suite those libs. Restart SOA Suite. Deploy Soademo-Client. And hopefully it will work.

  • How do I get Favorites to appear like in SDN?

How do I get the Favorites link to appear as it is displayed in the SDN Home page (instead of a square box that need a right mouse click, which is the portal default)?

Check that the Bookmarks Toolbar is visible and that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is still placed on the Bookmarks Toolbar.<br />
If the menu bar is hidden then press F10 or hold down the Alt key, that should make the "Menu Bar" appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" (Linux, Windows)
    * Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
    * If you do not see the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" or other items that are missing in the toolbar palette or on a toolbar then click the "Restore Default Set" button

  • Articles being deleted from SDN

    Hey Guys
Since past few weeks i have been noticing that alot of articles have been deleted from SDN.
I m not really sure if these articles are being archived somewhere or worst just being deleted.
did anybody else noticed this change as well?
below are some of the links i came across, there are other articles as well which have been deleted.

i also mailed "sapnetwork at sap.com" but they have no clue where the articles went;)
    Thanx
    Aamir

    Olivier,
I have a couple of theories:
    - Perhaps they just ran of out of disk space and needed to make room for information about powerpoint-ware products.
    - The articles were deleted because they showed simple ways of doing things, that did not involve buying the latest software offerings from SAP.
    - We discovered the real use of the conflicker virus was to remove content from SCN.  The virus author was in fact someone who got really mad after his "do the needful" posts were deleted after the 100th time of posting.
    Take care,
    Stephen

  • How to implement language like in SDN?

    Hi,
I'm interested in changing language similar as the language setting in SDN i.e. The language option on top right hand corner, next to Log Off. Anyone know how to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    Iwan

    Björn,
I posted the solution in the same thread on Sept. 20, 2006, I'm not sure why you can't see the solution. Did you read the whole thread? I did not mentioned any servlet filter at all in the solution. I went that approach and got help from Darrell (forgot his last name) from SAP. The solution he provided me was way over my head and got another solution that works for me and I posted this in this thread on Sept. 20 so if someone have the same problem will be able to use this solution.
    The meat of the solution:
When you create a resource file, SAP by default create this file under localization folder. We need to move this file to private/classes folder instead. This way, when we use a new Locale and get the resource bundle for that new local, the resource file can be found.
The following is my post which you can see it as separate post in this thread as well.
    Start of duplicate posting -
    FYI, found the solution.
I put the properties file in private/classes instead in localization, and then user ResourceBundle and Locale combo.
    Locale myLocale = new Locale("es","CO");
    ResourceBundle resc = ResourceBundle.getBundle("label",myLocale);
    response.write(resc.getString("text1"));
This will pick up your assign Locale instead of portal/component Locale."
