AS2 strict type components problems

Hi Flasher:
I try to work with the macr. components using AS2 strict
type, but allways i get a error message and the final swf
dosen´t work. Any idea ?????
This is the code & the error message
Flash 8
Mac OS 10.4.6
Tks ;-D

Hi Luigi!!
And thks for your pretty class.
But when I use the code without the _root in a G4 with Mac OS
X 10.4.4 the swf works fine...
Maybe there are some problems with the class import* ,
because the movie dosen´t work with the same code
>color_cb.addItem({data:0x000000, label:'Black'});
on a Mac G5 with Mac OS X 10.4.6.
Gracias por todo ;-D

I seem t be having some problems learning how to use strict type defined controls, would someone please help?
Will you please tell me why the coercion dot is on the subVI's?
Will you please tell me how to link the  'CtlsToWLp Cluster' from Main.vi and the 'Clust Refnum' from the WLp2.vi to the same .ctl?

  • How to change the font color in a strict type def programatically

Could someone suggest a way to change the font color of a string indicator in a strict type def cluster programmatically? The cluster contains a label that is color-coded to match the function of the data channel represented by that cluster.  The function of each channel is not predetermined, so the font color needs to be changed programmatically.  To represent all channels, I have arranged a large cluster that contains 100 instances of the control.  This makes it essential that the control be strictly type defined in order to change the layout of the clusters uniformly.
Can anyone suggest either a method by which I can let the control remain a strict type def and change the font color, or a method by which I can programmatically change the control from a strict type def to a type def?  Currently, I am saving the control as a strict type def every time I make a change and then saving it again as a type def when I am ready to run the program.  This works fine, but just seems inelegant.  This color-coding is used throughout the program in various indicators, so a neat solution would be greatly appreciated.

As mentioned in my Nugget on Type definitions you can create strict type-defs that contain type-defs.
If you make your data definition a type and put that definition in a strict type-def (one of each flavor) you can use the appropraite strict type where each is required.
Yes the data structure will have another level of nesting so if you are "too far gone" you may not like this idea.
Otherwise you can write a VI that opens the typed-def and do a "save as..." and use it everytime you edit the type-def.
    I hope something helps!

  • Setting control to default value when it is a strict type def

If my subVI has a control that happens to be a strict type defined cluster and I have saved the values in the control as the default values, how can I change them back to the default values of the type def (which are empty).  Because it is a strict type definition, i cannot click on the elements inside the cluster and modify them (e.g. click on an array inside the cluster and do an empty array operation.)
In the attached screenshot, the control "BLE Meters To Test" is just an array of clusters and I was able to empty the array.  The control "Capture Data" is a strict type def.  I would like to clear the contents of this control without having to delete the control and add it back with a new instance of the same strict type def.

are you talking about edit mode or run mode?
You could temporarily add a second instance of the typedef (all empty), then change it to a constant. Whenver you need to reset at run time, write the new digram constant to a local variable of the control.

Make sure to click on the array container, not on the array elements.

  • Data is not updating in calss & Convert vi reference to strictly type reference vi

    Hi,
In the attached project file there is a Class called 'ClassSample.lvclass' having 3 different data types Boolean, Numeric and Variant(not really sure, Variant can be use for strict data type reference). From this three we careated the 'VIs for data member access' you can see them in project file
My questions are,(Please refer attached screenshot)
    1. Though member of same class, why value is not updating at probe 16 ?
    2. How to convert vi reference to strictly type reference vi ?
    Thank you.

It depends a bit on your final intention. Bascially you have a shared state that you want to access asynchronously from different places. If you know that the actual object is only created once (terminilogie here is a bit shaky as every wire split would create a copy of the LVOOP object but I hope you know what I mean), you could use a global or Action Engine to store the state. Using a DVR for this state and adding the DVR to your object class data is however a more scalable approach as it will allow you to instantiate more than one object of that class and each one will contain its own DVR that will reference the same value for the specific object instance even if you split the object wire, creating actually two copies of that object (but for the purpose of this discussion they would be still the same object instance).
Queues could work if you create a single element queue but you would always need to use Preview Queue rather than Dequeue in order to maintain the value in there.

  • Array of strings strict type def not updating

I have defined an Array of Strings (ctrl) as a strict type def. When I update this array (add another string to it) the values don't update where this control is used. Can someone please explain why this is occuring.

Only the size of the array _shell_ is locked, not the size of the array data. The array shell is a window into the data of the array control. If you change the value of the index display you will change the indices visible inside the array shell.

  • Sort Second Element in Array of Strict Type Def Clusters

I need to sort the an array of strict type def clusters by the second or third element in the cluster.  In the past I have used 1-D array sort and sorted by the first element of the cluster.  When I need to sort by the second, third, or fourth element of the cluster I just break down the cluster and rebuild it placing the desired sort element in the first position of the new cluster.  This works for simple tasks and clusters, but as the cluster gets more complicated this becomes a pain to do this.  There must be a cleaner way to sort by other elements within the original array of strict type def clusters.  Has anyone succeeded in doing this a different way?

    Hello,
Here's the way I would do it...just create a new cluster array, where each cluster contains two elements...the unbundled item you want to sort by, and the cluster itself.  Then sort the new cluster array, then unbundle the sorted cluster array to get the original clusters (now sorted).  Here is a screenshot:
There may be a better way, but this is the first thing I thought of.

  • Control Value:Set [Variant] Method - how can i use this with strict type definitions?

I want to pass default values to a strict type definition from a mainVI to a subVI, but I'm not allowed to use the "Control Valueet [Variant] Method" invoke node to do it.  How else can I achieve this?
    thanks,
    Z

    Hi Z,
If you use strict type defintion references you can use Call by reference Node. Depending on the connector pane for the subvi which is referenced you just wire your data to the corresponding terminals. I attach an easy example which dynamically opens and writes to an arbitary number of a template.
    Hope it helps

  • Type of problem  Upgrading SAP Business Intelligence

Can you post your experience on problems that you met in upgrade of release for SAP BI?
    Please, describe
    1) Upgrading: example BW3.0 to 7
    2) Stability of system (early version SP1, SP2 or stable SP20 et so on)
    3) type of OBJECT: InfoOBJ, ODS, Cubes, Auth, Query, Layouts, Web
    4) type of problem
    5) how you encountered problem ( user testing, developer testing)
    6) type pf test (with standard program....custom, manual)
    6) type of resolution ( with notes, SP...)
8 point for every interesting answer.
    Thank you,
    Claudio

    Hi,
First and foremost you need to understand that when you upgrade from a BW 3.x ver to 04s (BI 7) , there's a lot of changes as the 04s upgrade brings in a lot of changes. First and foremost you need to deal with the Java component. There's going be changes to your ODS, rules, etc.
So the recommended path is first do a technical upgrade and then convert to the functional upgrade in parts.
You also need to look at impacts to any third party tools like ETL, crystal, etc during the upgrade.
There's significant changes to the Security too.
For testing first start from your lab env (if any) mostly for looking to see what problems you'll encounter during the actual upgrade itself.
Then move onto a sandbox client and do thorough baseline testing before the upgrade.
You'll have to test all functionalites, security, reporting, customizations , basically everything under the sun and you might still miss something.
Once the upgrade is done, you have to do post upgrade testing against the baseline logs. Its here that you'll come across and catch errors. Mostly they'll have corrections for these through OSS notes. Its recommended you use Solution Manager for this upgrade as well.
If you don't find any solutions through OSS then you need to create a message for SAP again through OSS.
Before you begin though go through all the release notes and features that 04S brings with it to understand how and where the impacts will be to your system.
    Cheers,
    Kedar

  • Determine if a control reference is a strict type definition

If a VI is passed a control reference it can determine the VI Server Class using the ClassName property but how can it determine if the control reference is from a control which is based on a strict type definition?

That a pretty neat little VI you've found, Darren. Kudos!
The solution that Darren presents, however, will not tell the difference between a typedef and a strict typedef (unless I'm missing something). If you have VI Scripting enabled (see attachment for where to enable this in the Options menu), you can expose the Is Typedef? property.
This returns an enum with the following values (as pictured)
    not a typedef
    typedef
    strict typedef
    class private data
Although this property is not settable in a VI at run-time, it should be readable.
Below is a picture of the Options menu where you can enable VI scripting

  • Can strictly type refnum control do type coercion?

    Hi all,
Can strictly type refnum control do type coercion? NI says yes:
A control refnum terminal that is strictly typed can only accept control references that are strictly typed to a compatible type. For example, if a subVI expects a control refnum of type Slide(Int32), you can wire a control reference of type Slide(Int32), Slide(Int8), or Slide(DBL), but not of type Slide(Cluster of DBLs). Wiring in the Slide(Int8) or Slide(DBL) will result in type coercion (no error) and thus a coercion dot as these representations are being coerced to Int32. Wiring the Slide(Cluster of DBLs) will result in a type conflict (error) and thus a broken wire. This is because the Int8 and DBL are numerics like the Int32 and can thus be coerced to be of Int32 representation. The Cluster of DBLs however, is not a numeric, but a totally different data type. Therefore, a cluster being of different data type than the numeric will result in a type conflict if wired together. Strictly typed references are most beneficial when you know exactly what type of data you will be using.
    http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/3159
I have seen this help file for long time, and been confused by it for long time. I don't think strictly type refnum control can do type coercion. If I put a U8 Enum refnum control on subvi's front panel, I can't connect it with a U16 Enum refnum control.
    I don't know if I am right.

What is an "enum refum control"? Can you attach a small VI containing the various controls?
    steady wrote:
Besides, I don't know what Slide(Cluster of DBLs) is. I can't generate such data type.
A slide control with multiple sliders is a cluster datatype. One cluster element per slider.
Just place a slide, right-click it...add slider. Voila!

  • Change strings of (strict type def) refnum

    mitulatbati wrote in http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=233257&view=by_date_ascending&page=5:
    Hi,
I have made a strict type def, which is a text ring. I open the VI reference -> get Panel property node -> Controls[] -> Index first element (there is only one, the ring) -> change Strings and values, and then close reference.
If I call this subvi from a VI, which includes this strict type ring, it will be only updated, when I restart the VI. And not in runtime. I don´t get any error, everything looks fine, but the strings and values are not updated :-(
Is there a way not to restart the VI, but to modify the ring programatically?

    Hello mitulatbati,
I do something similar with a Combo Box. The reference to each box is stored in an unitinialised shift register of a VI. When I want to change the selectable text, I do it in a for loop for every stored control.
A VI doeing this for Rings is attached (LV8.2.1).

  • How can I change the numeric and enum default values in a Strict Type Def Cluster?

I have a Strict Type Def cluster that contains 10 Numerical controls and a number of enums.  I have edited default values of the numerical controls in the Strict Type Def, in customize mode, performed a "Make Current Values Default"  and have done a "Apply Changes"  and saved.
This cluster is used in various locations throughout the project and have not found a way to make the cluster default values change downstream.  The Strict Type Def (STD) Control appears to have the right values on the front panel.  But if I place an instance of this on a blank front panel, and run a wire from it in the block diagram with a probe and indicator, I still get the old default values being passed from the STD.
    Solved!

There Are No Strict Type Definition Constants
"Even though typedefs only update when types change, instances get cosmetic changes from the definition whenever they update. So one trick to "push" changes to typedef instances is to change the data type, apply changes, and then change the data type back. [edit, March 26 - Note that the typedef instances need to be in memory when you use this trick]."

  • Type Mapping Problem with java.util.Vector in Axis

Hi,buddies,I want to use the Vector class as the return type of my service, but it seems that there isn't a built-in Ser/Deser factory for Vector, is it?So i think we need to provide our own Ser/Derser. and this is a very common problem, and i wonder how to write my own Ser/Derser, please give me some suggestion, thx!
    Best Regards:)

Hi,I checked out the src of Axis 1.2, I found there is a org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.VectorSerializerFactory class and an according org.apache.axis.encoding.ser.VectorDeserializerFactory class.so in the deploy.wsdd i use them as the ser/deser factories in the TypeMapping part inside the service tag.everything goes well and i got no problem deploying the service to axis. But the problem is that when i try to invoke the service and get a vector as return(Suppose the components in the vector is instances of Movie class), the following error occured:
    org.xml.sax.SAXException: No deserializer for {urn:movies}Movie
But it is a little bit confusing, for I declared the ser/deser factories for the bean class Movie(with built-in ser/deser factories of axis),and everything was going fine when i deployed the service to axis.So should i still use the TypeMappingRegistry or there are something i just missed. Please give me some suggestion, thx :)
    Best Regards:)
