AS3 Delete MC Question

Hello everyone,
I have in my library a movie clip with a linkage ID of
Win_Video which I am letting flash export the class for it. Inside
of the movie clip I have a flvplayback component that has a set
path for a video. I also have a "X" in the upper right to close the
window. Here is the code I use to display the window in the center
of the screen,
var new_win:MovieClip = new Win_Video();
new_win.x = sx;
new_win.y = sy;
addChild(new_win);
The issue comes when trying to remove the movie clip from the
screen. Here is the code I have been trying,
removeChild(new_win);
this seems to work as the window will disappear but you can
still here the video playing so I am guessing it is not actually
gone. What am I missing?

Ok still having some issues with the video. When I click a
video link and then click another link before the other video has
started playing I will end up with the main window playing but
sounds from other videos playing in the background.

Deleting a "question mark" folder in Library module

I am painstakingly bringing old files into Lightroom (I am building a new catalog based on the workflow I just learned at Seth Resnick's D65 Workshop).
I have brought in a folder with 209 files (just an example) but I later realized I have previously edited this folder down to something smaller -- rather than waste time editing that folder again I just created a new folder, and renamed it: the renamed folder includes the (preferred) reduced amount of files.
Next I deleted that folder from the finder and trashed it. I dont want the larger universe- I am happy with the edited files which are safe and sound. Problem is I have a sloppy question mark on the trashed filename in the LR Library module. I know that it means LR cant find my folder but I just want to delete the whole question-mark-folder line from the Library (because it's not "neat").
How do I do this?

You can synchronize folders (right-click on folder) to automatically get rid of missing photos, or remove the folder from the catalog entirely.

Unable to delete certain questionable messages

Greetings,
I am at a loss. I have searched for answers under several difference questions, using several terms and reading several threads, but I have not found a solution to my problem.
What I was doing when the problem appeared: I was organizing mail from my IN box into several mailbox folders and deleting several messages.
Then all of a sudden several (7) messages appeared in my IN box with the same sender and subject, but different dates and times. I have since discovered several additional messages in 3 mailbox folders and one in my drafts folder.
What is happening: I can delete the messages, but they come back. For example, I delete the 7 messages from the IN box, then I click into another mailbox. When I come back to the IN box the messages are there again, but there are also "copies" in the trash box. If I delete them again they appear again with even more copies in the trash box.
The messages in the IN box are completely void of any content; no header info nor message. However the messages in the mailbox folders seem to have replaced the sender and subject of existing messages in the list view, but when I open the message the original info is displayed.
I would love to clean these messages out of my mail without losing all of my other messages.

Thank you for responding. I did drag all the messages that I kept to the different mailbox folders. Those I trashed I simply selected and pressed DELETE.
I have 4 e-mail accounts that Mail retrieves from. 1 personal; 2 business; 1 educational. The personal and business accounts are all POP accounts. They are all through my ISP at SBC/AT&T. The educational account is an IMAP account, but has been inactive for 18 months or so, since the last class is took at our local community college. This account is hosted by the college.

Flex and pure AS3, a few questions.

I have been developing AS3-only applications and am now looking into Flex. I have a few questions I would like to get more information on:
- is there a difference in performance between the CS3 components and the Flex components? What would be the key differences between the two?
- same question regarding drawing, is there a performance difference between drawing say, 10000 circles using pure AS3 and the same using mxml?
I hope the question are not too broad and will appreciate any feedback!

FLex components are always more resource hungry due to the amount of stuff UIComponent has to do, like the
component lifecycle.
Although FXG drawing is pretty good.

Yet Another "How to Delete Apps" question

I'm trying to delete some unused/unwanted apps from within the iTunes structure. Here's what I've done already:
Deleted directly from my iPad 2 by holding my finger on an app's icon, then tapping the "delete" icon in the uppoer left corner
Connect my iPad 2 to my Mac and to iTunes. Went from screen to screen hovering my pointer over the apps in question and clicked the "delete" icon in the upper left corner. Some apps asked if I wanted to keep them or trash them, which I answered "trash."
Turning our attention to the left sidebar in iTunes under the Apps tab, it's labeled "Sync Apps" and has a sort dropdown between the head and the list of apps. The unwanted apps still reside in thhis list though the checkbox to their left is unchecked. (see image below)
I have searched through the different discussion on this forum as well as others, with answers that pretty much mirror what I've done so far, with the exception that some people recommended using the "delete" key (which I assume is the same as the "backspace" key, however I've pressed both), which doesn't do anything.
Here is where I have come up against a stone wall.
How on earth do I get iTunes to delete those apps that I absolutely and positively don't want hanging around? I don't want them to suddenly appear on my iPad through some vagaries of the sync process and I don't want them showing up within iTunes.
My setup:
A 64GB WiFi iPad 2 running 4.3.5
A 2009 Mac Mini running Lion and iTunes 10.4 (build 80)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I feel like such a dipstick sometimes. I'll fret over a problem for hours, then post a question somewhere, then minutes later it seems that a lightbulb goes of over my head.
One thing I forgot to do was go to the Apps tab under the Library area of iTunes. <headsmack!>
Going there and viewing the app icons, I found that selecting an app and either right-clicking and selecting "delete", or simply hitting my "backspace" key cause it to disappear, both from the Apps panel in the Library, but also in the list of Apps next to my iPad screens.

Reinstalled Itunes and how have 4 to 8 copies of all music (7,500). This has happened before, called apple, sorry you will need to delete each. question why does it happen and can it corrected without one song at a time

Man I hear your pain, same happened to me. I never worked out a way of deleting all the duplicates and I'm guessing it occured as you imported your library more than once.
However it is possible to delete everything and copy from an ipod using different utilities out there on the net, try googling ipodutil as an expample, although I don't know if this works from an iphone but it worked for me copying everything back from an ipod into itunes.

AS3 swf tiny question

I have a feeling that I know the answer to this. I am not
terribly savvy on Actionscript (basic sklls, not expert)..and not
in 3.0 at all!!!!!!!! I have a website that is done nearly all in
Flash with AS2.0. I recently added a video player from a video
aggregator, but their player is AS3.0.
All I could do was to build an html page and embed the AS 3
player into that. I prefer the seamlessness that Flash provides. Is
there ANY possible way to embed an AS3 swf file into an AS2
website.
I just cannot completely rebuild the entire website right now
in 3.0!!!!
Is there ANY simple solution? I cannot believe that I am the
only person who is having issues like this...Ugh!!!!

you can't use an as2 file to load an as3 file and have the
as3 file work.
you can use getURL() to load your as3's embedding html file.
if you want it to look seemless, you can load into the same window
so the user will see your as2 content replaced by the as3 swf.
in the as3 swf you can put code to load your as2's embedding
html file (using navigateToURL()). so, you can go back and forth
between your as2 and as3 swfs.

Another delete order question

I've looked through the forum but haven't found exactly this issue, hopefully it is still a simple matter...
I have a single class that has a private 1:1 mapping to itself for a parent-child relationship. The 1:1 mapping and the fact that it is private is expressed in the TopLink workbench. However, when I do a readAllObjects on the class and then try to do a deleteAll on the returned Vector, I am getting an integrity constraint violation because it is trying to delete a child before its parent.
All of the examples I've seen are mappings from class A to class B, not from class A to itself, so it's not clear to me how to proceed. Any help would be appreciated.

Could you describe the schema and object model in more detail and include the descriptor for the class.
Is the parent/child relationship defined by 1 foreign key or two? i.e. do you have a bi-directional foreign key constraint in both tables? If so you might consider only defining the foreign key in one direction and using a target foreign key in the inverse direction. Otherwise you may need to break some of the relationships before deleting the objects, i.e. set the parent or child to null so that it is first updated to allow the deletion.

I think you're looking for '''right-click, delete''' as a way of deleting a message without opening it.
However, in most cases, the dangers of viewing suspect email messages are usually overstated. Unless you follow links, or download and unzip or open attachments, they are unlikely to do you any harm, particularly in Thunderbird where scripts are not permitted to run.
To be ultra cautious, you could view messages off line, or disable live content by viewing in plain text only.

AS3 to AS3 Drag/Drop Question

This is a fairly routine drag/drop interaction. The tricky part is when the invisilbe button 'btnInvis10' is clicked, another movieClip, 'dragger' appears and becomes the element being dragged, to be dropped onto 'mSquare'. AS3 is giving me some problems when I convert the code - really just changing the functions to be AS3 compliant. But I guess it needs more than just converting. Any ideas?
My AS2 code worked like this:

Can you show your AS3 attempt as well?
I figure I should ask if the coding is errant wrt the way you test if bOverlap is true vs false (since it may be as intended). In the first conditional where it is true, it is set to false, which will cause the condition that follows it to also run since it is now false...

One last thing... gotoAndStop(nextFrame()); doesn't make sense (to me). nextFrame does not return a value, so using it as an argument doesn't buy anything. By itself it will cause the timeline to move to the next frame and stop.
