Asha 311 - add music from memory card
Hello,
I've encountered an issue with my Asha 311. I copied my mp3 files into phones memory card and I wanted to access and play them from phone's Music shortcut in the front page, however, it only finds music that is in the phone memory and ignores the memory card. How do I add music from memory card to that list?

Go to Solution.
Then do one thing.. make sure all the music files in your device are in the folder named music files in the memory card.. if not, simply move the files to that folder.. agian update the library and check..
still problem remains, then go for a soft reset ( it will not affect your data). for this type *#7780# in your keypad and provide security code (default 12345). check again..

N5800 - Playing Music from Memory Card
Hi, bought this phone the other day and first thing i did was to transfer all my pc music onto the 8 gig memory card - fine.
However, if i want to play these tunes through the music player, do i have to transfer them to the phone memory first (which is much lower memory space). I can play each song by accessing it through Applications/File mgr/Memory Card, but want to be able to build playlists from them/ listen to them continuously (as it stops after each song has finished).

No, transfer straight to the card.
You can make Playlists by opening Music Player>find song>options>add to playlist

If you start Music player for the first time, it'll prromot you on chosing Music file on Memory card (if no Music files found on your phone memory). Later on, once you started Music player and want to choose another folder, just select option -> Play Option, then select folder from "Music Source"

i have hardly any space left on my Nokia 5800 memory card, and would like to know how to put some songs onto the phone memory as i have some free space there.
does anybody know how?
(very greatfull)You can use the file manager on the phone to move items between the memory card and phone. If you have any difficulties with it check out the help section within the application.
You should make sure you leave a bit of space in the phones memory so that you have plenty of space for messages and programs.
It may be a better option to purchase a 16gb memory card instead. -
Importing contacts from memory card
Have recently got new 5800 after mine got wet. The new one is slightly different and I have put my memory card from old one into new phone.
I can't seem to find the right route to import my numbers off my memory card.
I'm sure the card is not corrupted as it had all my music on which automatically transfered when I opened real player.file manager>double click the memory card>option>copy contacts>from memory card...

iPods are not backups or data transfer tools.
Move the music from the computer where it exists to the computer where you want it.
Then sync the music to the iPod. -
I have an iphone 4s. I have a mac computer and a pc. Most of my itunes library is on my pc, but when I try to add music to my phone from my library on the pc, it won't let me do it. I CAN add music from my library that is on my mac, same account. My husband has the same problem with his iphone 4, but only uses pc.
My husband and I are using the same iTunes account on all mac & pc computers, but the libraries are different on each machine. We always manually manage our music (no auto sync). iTunes is up to date on the PCs. My husband uses our joint iTunes account on his pc, but once again, has a different collection in his library from those on the other machines. He can't load any music from his PC to his iphone 4. I can load music from my mac library to my iphone 4s, but cannot load from my pc library to my iphone 4s. How can I switch my main library that it syncs with from the mac to the pc?

Photos did not download to computer. I deleted them from memory card. Is there a way to retrieve them from memory card.
If all you did was delete them it should be relatively easy to recover them BUT don't use the card until you've done it. Even after a format it's fairly easy but not after re use because you write over them. For more help read the replies here.

You will need a card reader because I don't think it can be done in camera using the usb cable.

Had to reinstall Lion. Backed up my music to an external hard drive. When I plug in my iPod a prompt msg says it's synced w/another iTunes library and asks if I want to "erase and sync" (to what is now an empty library) or "Transfer purchases". Do i "erase and sync" and re-add music from the hard drive once that's done?
You just need to tell iTunes where the library is located. If you want it back on your internal drive, copy the entite iTunes folder. Follow the instructions below.

When i try to add music from itunes to my ipod, Itune tells me the music on my ipod came from a differnt libray and wants to erase my whole ipod. i just loaded my ipod two days ago. i don't want to replace everything every time i want to add two to songs. My MacBook Pro is the only autherized computer.
To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.

How do I add music from an external drive to iTunes
I have been trying to add music from my collection on the external drive to iTunes, so that I can further add it on my iPod Touch. Trying to do that I lost a lot of songs that I had on my iPod already. The latest versions of iTunes have made it difficult to understand & not so user friendly. Can somone help
Open up itunes and on that home screen simply drag and drop the songs(from the external drive) to the itunes library and the plug in your ipod, go to the music section and check sync all songs from the library, thats all!

I have followed the steps in order to manually manage the music on my 3GS iphone. (used the latest version of itunes and my iphone is up to date with iOS5) and it still is not allowing me to add music from another computer.
when i plug it into the second computer, it is asking me to click "manually manage music and videos" again. when i do that, it says it is going to sync with this new library and erase all music that is already there. i dont want this to happen! i only want to add a few select songs from each library. I have waaayy to much to add and erase every time.
both of the computers i am using are PCs and have my itunes id for homesharing... please help me!Refer to this article

if those files are MP3s, try running them by _*MP3 Validator*_ before adding.
could also be due to permissions problems.
check if you have read & write permissions for your music folder. in finder, right-click on it and +get info+. unlock the little padlock (you may have to enter your admin password) and change the permission settings. next, click on the little gear-shaped icon and +apply to enclosed items+ like so
the important part is to *apply to enclosed items* !
