ASP Classic - post form data without form

I have to send our account password and user entered form
data to a page (which I can't modify). I don't want to use the Get
method and I don't want to put our password into a hidden field. I
would like to have the user fill out the form, which submits back
to the page where I add my password field value via ASP, then send
all of that data to another page via post.
To further clarify, we are using a service and to add user
data I have to also supply our account name and password.

Get it from the database and when you send it make sure its
sent as
unencrypted text. Its all the rage...

  • Display form data without blank fields. (Coldfusion)

    I would like to display data that was enter into a form, but
    without the fields that were left blank. For example, if someone
    enters their info in address 1 but left address 2 blank, I want to
    display address 1 and then display the next completed form field if
    address 2 was left blank. I am writing this in Coldfusion.
    What I am trying to do is allow clients to create and preview
    a preformatted business card online so we eliminate the back and
    forth proofing process. The design for each card is the same, but
    with variable information. Ex., Address 1, Address 2, Cell Phone 1,
    Cell Phone 2, etc. When fields are left blank I want to eliminate
    them from being displayed as blank spaces.
    Thank you in advance.

    You might also want to TRIM(Form.Fieldname) first to make
    sure no spaces
    were entered on the form.
    <CFIF TRIM(Form.Fieldname) neq "">
    #Form.Fieldname#
    </cfif>

  • PC users can't save PDF form data from form created on Mac

    I'm trying to create a PDF form for a client that will be accessing the form on a PC. However, when the client opens the form, a message appears saying that any data filled in the form cannot be saved and the document must be printed. If the client tries to "Save As" a message appears saying the form will be saved without the data. This defeats the whole purpose of using PDF forms.
    What can I do to allow my client to save data in the form? When I check the permissions on my end, there is no security and no restrictions.
    Developer environment:
    Acrobat 9 Pro
    OSX Snow Leopard
    Client environment:
    Windows 7
    Acrobat Pro X

    Thanks for the quick response, Karl.
    The client downloaded the trial version of Pro X, to verify that the form works before buying. Would the trial version impose restrictions?
    The client does not want to store data on a server. He wants the form to function as a template that he can save-as to customize. The completed forms will be shown on the computer as a part of a presentation, sometimes without Internet access.
    I tried using the Advanced > Extend Form Features options to enable to ability to save form data, but when I tested the PDF on my PC (Vista, latest version of Reader) I got an error message along the lines of "this document has been modified from previous version, please get a copy of the original" and all form fields are gone.
    I'm currently downloading the trial of Pro X so I can test the PDF.
    I am also using a Javascript to allow the client to place photos in the document. This is achieved using a button with a Javascript attached to it: event.target.buttonImportIcon();
    This works correctly in my environment, but could it be screwing up the file as it's opened on a PC?

  • Feature Request: I want Firefox 4 to remember search history, but not form data, without having to use a third-party plug-in. Is this possible now and I am just not seeing it?

    I don't like having Firefox (or any browser for that matter) remembering any form history, as I do not see this as secure data storage (IT security/network engineer). Currently the only way to disable this is to also disable search history, which is a useful tool to have, and I am not worried about the security of that data (I don't search for sensitive data). I would like to see these two options under the Privacy->Custom Settings Preference to be separated so that people can more finely control what of their data is stored.
    Is this possible without the use of third-party plugins?

    Wow. Okay...
    I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
    My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

    To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
    4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
    I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

  • Allow users to save form data

    I am throughly confused about what I need, so I'm sorry, I'm sure this thread is a duplicate of several that are out there, but most of it seems to talk over my head.
    I have a VERY old version of Adobe Acrobat (version 5.0, yes gasp in horror).  I have the VERY old version of Acrobat Distiller (version 5.0).  I have a form that was created in these versions of Acrobat.  It works perfectly, even in the new version of Reader (v9), excpet that the form data can't be saved, not a shocker.
    What software do I need to purchase to get my old form to allow people to save the form data, WITHOUT them having to download any extensions for their Reader?
    I hope that makes sense.

    Hi,
    LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES is part of Adobe's server product and can be very expensive. In addition to the cost of the sever component, you need to pay a fee to Adobe to apply the reader extensions to each form. It is intended for government agencies and large organisations.
    The ability to reader enable a form from within Acrobat is intended for ad-hoc forms that won't be going out to a lot of people.
    When you design a form in LC Designer, you can specify the target version of Acrobat/Reader (in the File/Form Properties/Defaults). This allows you to check that all of the functionality that you build into the form, will work for your users.
    When you reader enable the form it will still work with the target version that you have set in LC Designer.
    When you reader enable with the full LC Reader Extension ES server product, you are basically turning ON features for users with Reader.
    However when you reader enable using Acrobat, you are turning ON features like allowing users to save data. But at the same time Adobe are turning OFF some features like data connections.
    It really depends on how many data processes you want with the form. If it is small then stick with Acrobat. If you are a large organisation looking to improve data collection and processing then you should look at LC Reader Extensions ES.
    Hope that helps,
    Niall

  • IE11 can't post form data to specific frame or window dialog opened via window.open()

    Hello,
    Form POST targeting to specific frame or dialog popped up via window.open() no longer works in IE11.
    It worked fine in IE10 and all previous versions of IE.
    Please see screenshot attached with simple test that reproduces this problem.
    Direct Link to screenshot:
    http://173.231.98.44/cgi/TestFolder/IE_11_widow_frame_targeting_BUG.jpg
    Direct link to simple test page demonstrating this problem:
    http://173.231.98.44/cgi/TestFolder/page2.asp
    Note: IE11 doesn't report any errors, doesn't complain about anything, even when debugged via F12 developer tools. The only thing it complained initially was missing doc type declaration on top of page, but even after adding doc type definition, problem still
    persists, makes no difference.
    I tested this on fresh install of Windows 2012R2 while testing our web application with the new IE11.
    I believe doing this on Windows 8.1 with IE11 will result in same bug/problem.
    Our web application uses a technique whereby it launches a popup window via call to window.open(), passing blank URL and specifying a name for the new window. It then does a from post targeting the name of new dialog.
    In IE11 this functionality has been broken and no longer works.
    Problem is that IE11, instead of posting form to the newly created dialog, it launches a new instance of IE and then loads the requested form in this new instance of IE, while the dialog launched via window.open() remains on screen and is empty. If user repeats
    launching same form post request (via button click for example), IE 11 keeps creating new empty dialogs and new IE instance for every form post executed. This totally breaks our application because we use many so called "wizards" that encapsulate
    specific functionality in separate web page launched in a popup window.
    Another related problem is that if a dialog is launched with window.open(), the java script code in the dialog can not target the parent frame that opened the dialog anymore. In our application, when a dialog is closed, it typically needs to trigger a refresh
    of a specific frame within the parent window (again targeted by name) to reflect saved/updated info that user entered in the popup dialog. The result is that we can't refresh the parent frame after the pop up dialog closes. Instead, IE11 launches
    a new instance of IE (not just a tab, but a whole new instance) and loads the parent frame in it.
    The problem seems to be caused by broken frame name targeting mechanism in IE11.
    Note that we force IE to compatibility mode 5, but even without specifying any compatibility, the problem remains.
    Typical java script to reproduce this is:
    <input type="button" onClick="Popup(this.form);" name="btn2" value="Popup Dialog">
    function Popup(f){
        window.open("","MyNewDialogName","width=200,height=150");
        f.action = "page3.asp";
        f.target = "MyNewDialogName";
        f.submit();
    Expected: IE11 should correctly post form to and load targeted page in the newly popped up dialog, without opening new IE instance and new tab. Repeatedly posting form to existing popup window should reuse that window, not keep on launching more popup windows
    and then more IE instances.
    Steps to reproduce the problem (include URL if applicable):
    URL with sample page: http://173.231.98.44/cgi/TestFolder/page2.asp
    1) Create page1.htm: <html><body>display "I'm in a popup window now ..."</body></html>
    2) Create page2.htm with a button and onclick() event calling function to open dialog, and do form POST targeting new dialog calling page1.htm, like below.
    <input type="button" onClick="Popup(this.form);" name="btn2" value="Popup Dialog"> function Popup(f){
        window.open("","MyNewDialogName","width=200,height=150");
        f.action = "page1.asp";
        f.target = "MyNewDialogName";
        f.submit();
    3) Open IE11, navigate to page2.htm, click the "Popup Dialog" dialog button. IE 11 will popup the new dialog, but then it will also launch new instance of IE11 and display the page1.htm in it, instead of in the popup dialog.
    Has anyone else encountered this problem?
    Any insight or help is appreciated.
    Regards
    Peter

    the default action of <input type="button" is submit. Note also that the default type of <button> elements is 'submit' also.
    add a return false to the onclick inline event handler (which constructs the form submit attribues) to cancel the default form.submit behavior.
    form elements have a target value with which you can specify the name window into which you want the form to open in.
    <form action="process.aspx" target="popup">
    you can use the window.open method with a query uri to achieve the same outcome.
    window.open('process.aspx?s=search+term&amp;foo=bar','popup',{features})
    the outcomes of all scripted windows are affected by
    your IE Popup blocker and tabbed browsing settings
    which in turn is affected by your IE Security zone settings (for popup blocking handling)
    and the settings of any third-party popup blocker you may have installed and enabled... it may not necessarily be visible on your browser toolbar.
    The first step in troubleshooting web browser issues is to test in no-addons mode.
    Use the Developer Tool to find out what documentMode the test page is opening in on your system. On Modal/Modeless popup windows use the f12 key to display the Developer tool positioned on the contentWindow.
    Use File>Properties to find out what IE Security zone it maps to... there is a security setting to prevent navigation into zones of lower integrity.

  • Submit PDF form data to URL without submit button

    Our client use LiveCycle Designer to design PDF forms. We've an ASP.Net Web form application, where they want us to embed the PDF form as part of our Data Entry Form. The Entry form has a Save button. And we want to save all the entry form entries (including the PDF form) in the Save button click.
    The client PC will have adobe reader installed, so I guess we can embed the PDF form easily. I know PDF form can have Submit button and can submit data (XML) to a URL. But client does not want to place a separate Submit button in the PDF as the entry form has a "Save" button.
    Do you have any suggestion? If I'm posting in wrong place or an already answered question I apologize earnestly and please guide me.

  • Passing asp form data to a .jsp string

    Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
    I would like to pass form information that comes from a standard form into a URL string as follows:
    "http://ui.constantcontact.com/roving/wdk/API_AddSiteVisitor.jsp?loginName=benefitevents&loginPassword=connoisseur&ea=[email protected]&ic=test&first_name=Joe&last_name=smith"
    I would then like to pass that string forward to its final destination.
    Some more info.
    Form data is collected on "register.asp" and then passed to "register1.asp" using form method="post" action="register1.asp".
    On register1.asp the form info is processed and delivered to the SQL database.
    I am only a beginner with the code (it was done by a programmer who is mostly absent when needed now).
    So, I need to know as much of the following as you can help with (in descending priority):
    1. How to pass the .jsp string forward assuming the proper variables have been passed in the asp code.
    2. Where should this command live, in register.asp or register1.asp?
    3. How to correctly insert the variables in the URL string from form (correct syntax using asp).
    As may be obvious this is for one registrant at a time. The object is deliver the registration information to my SQL database and, at the same time, pass some info to a Constant Contact list. This allows me to integrate Constant Contact into my services to clients seamlessly.
    Thank you, hope this was not too much info!

    Javascript is not the same as Java.
    There are JS related forums at webdeveloper.com. But I would rethink about the JS approach. It should also be able with ASP and I would prefer that.

  • Send form data from Coldfusion to ASP

    I need to send form data from CF to ASP.
    I submit a CF page and validate it on my end with another CF
    page, which then needs to post the results to an asp page on
    another site. The post has to be sent via SSL and I don't need to
    and cannot receive any status message back from the remote ASP
    site. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking
    some type of cfhttp, but I am not very familiar with its usage.
    Thanks!

    It doesn't matter what type of page you are sending to as
    long as it can handle the data that is sent. Either a form or
    cfhttp will work.

  • Can I do a POST with servlet without displaying form?

    Hello,
    I currently have a page (page1.jsp) that requires user to enter some values and click button to submit (POST) the data. That brings up a second page (results.jsp)that displays data based on what was entered on the first page.
    Now I need to be able to invoke the results.jsp page directly via a servlet and pass it the values that would have been entered on the form page (page1.jsp).
    The simplest thing to do would be to just pass the data in a query string but I don't have that option in this case.
    How can I simulate a POST in my servlet and pass the parameters to results.jsp as if the user had entered them on the page1.jsp page?
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Greetings,
    Now I need to be able to invoke the results.jsp page directly via a servlet and pass it the values that
    would have been entered on the form page (page1.jsp).There are essentially two ways to invoke another resource from a servlet: via call to request.sendRedirect, and through a RequestDispatcher:
    A 'redirect' sends a response back to the client instructing it initiate a new request to the specified resource. To send data through a redirect requires sending it as query parameters. Since the client is initiating a new request with this information, that means the query parameters, along with the rest of the new location request URL, shows up in the browser's 'location' bar.
    A 'dispatch' involves the other resource within (or, as part of) the current request, and without the client's intervention or knowledge. ;) Passing along data in a dispatch provides the capability of adding the data to the request object as attributes - though, not as 'parameters' :( - which the other resource may then get. However, as implied, the data passed along this way will not be available to the other resource as 'parameters' (which, presumably, is how it is currently expecting them), but only as 'attributes'. Therefore, the other resource would require modification to also look for the data this way. However, as with a call to sendRedirect(String location), a call to servletContext.getRequestDispatcher(String path) allows sending the data as query parameters which, unlike in a 'redirect', do not show up in the client browser! ;)
    Presuming that the other resource is in context with the servlet then, in most cases, using a RequestDispatcher is the recommended way.
    The simplest thing to do would be to just pass the data in a query string but I don't have that option
    in this case.Presuming that it is not an option because it should not be seen in the client browser, then it may still be passed this way using a 'dispatch' without worry. :) Otherwise, passing the data as request attributes in a 'dispatch' and modifying the other resource is required.
    How can I simulate a POST in my servlet and pass the parameters to results.jsp as if the user had
    entered them on the page1.jsp page?If it absolutely must be sent in a POST request, then the alternative to the above is to manually call the other resource using an HttpURLConnection (or, better, try the Jakarta Project's 'Commons HttpClient' package ;). A search of this forum will yield many examples (usually in relation to applet-servlet communication, but that fact is otherwise irrelevant ;).
    Thanks in advance for any help!Regards,

  • How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?

    How do I set up a .pdf form to save filled data without having to print the form?  I have provided my clients a lifecycle .pdf form they can use to record data for unique client meetings.  They want the ability to save their completed data whenever they use the form under a unique file name.  I've told them the only way I know how to do this is to print the completed form as a .pdf document and then save it.
    Is their a way to save the data to a unique file name without printing the filled form?
    Is there a way to reset the form with blank fields after saving? or to add a clear fields button?
    Thanks.

    If you reader extend  a pdf using livecycle reader extensions then you can save the filled in data - this is true if you are using Adobe reader to view the PDF's. If you open it in Acrobat then the functionality is already there.

    Acrobat form with server side submit, posting blank data,

    I have a PDF form which gets submitted to the server using a submit (server-side) button. The data is then received in XML format by a ColdFusion component which does some validation and stores it into the database.
    This PDF form is usually filled in by our clients using Adobe Reader 8 or below. While most of the times(and I mean like 96-97% of the times) everything goes well, at times we receive blank data into our database!! This renders couple of other features in our application useless as they try to parse an XML which does not exist.
    I do believe that this is not a problem at the ColdFusion side because all it does is trim(ToString(toBinary(GetHttpRequestData().content))).
    Does anyone has a clue as to why the data will be lost upon form submission?? I have done a lot of googling around it but in vain!

    There is an outside chance someone is just playing with you and submitting a blank form. Not uncommon if someone is not too familiar with forms.
