ASP - strip html from loaded page

Hi,
I have a link to an external site (although owned by the same
company)... which when clicked opens a new window and displays some
results.
The link in question actually subits form and passed some
values to the new window which loads the external site -takes the
form values and displays the resutls.
pretty easy so far..
problem is.. the results page shows a load of info that I
don't want...
so I'm looking for a way of stripping the html coding out
before the display...
now normally that would be easy if the html was on the site
side.. but it's being generated on the other side.
so basically I need to have an ASP page.. which loads the
outside source.. gets the info out of it.. and then displays that.
what I don't know how to do is stuff the generated html into
an ASP variable first.. before displaying it..
Any ideas?
James

You need to use the server-side XMLHTTP object to request the
page in order
to do that.

You'll almost certainly have version 3 of the component, so
read the code
comments as a line or two differs for version 3.

  • Removing index.html from home page / remove .html tags from all other pages

    Hello All,
    I was wondering if there is a way to remove the index.html from my main page, so that www.mypage.com/index.html is simply www.mypage.com/. This also applies to all the other pages in the site, but only for the .html extension: www.mypage.com/contact.html becomes www.mypage.com/contact. Almost all sites I know do this, but I can't figure out the technique beyond working some crazy voodoo with Apache.
    Thanks in advance for your help!

    if 'index.html' is in your HOST server's default filename list, then you can omit its name from any link, e.g.,
    <a href="/">Home</a>
    That link will cause the server to load the default file found in the root folder of the site.
    This is actually the preferred way to link to your home page.

  • Get Dynamic HTML from Apex Page as CLOB

    Good Morning,
    I have two APEX pages that are designed to provide formatted report content; however, these are not intended to be navigable from within the application. In other words, I am not letting the user view the pages directly. Instead, their purpose is to generate dynamic content so that I can feed their HTML into a HTML to PDF converter so the generated PDF can be attached to an email and sent to clients. I have found that the easiest way to generate this report is directly in APEX, but I haven't yet found a way to just run the page via a PL/SQL API and retrieve the dynamic content into a CLOB so that I can send it to my converter utility. I have tried UTL_HTTP, but I am either using that API incorrectly, or the security context of the session is not proagating to the call (this is being performed in a secure APEX application), thus I receive the following error [ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1674 ORA-29024: Certificate validation failure]. I am using Apex version 3.2. Does anyone know a good and straight-forward API for doing what I need to accomplish? Thanks in advance.
    Erik

    To mimic the users session, you'd have to forward on the session cookies as part of the HTTP request.
    A simpler option:
    * Allow public access to the page
    * Apply an authorization scheme to the page that looks something like this...
    if owa_util.get_cgi_env('REMOTE_ADDR') = '127.0.0.1' then
      return true;
    else
      return false;
    end if;(PL/SQL Function Returning Boolean)
    Then when you perform the request in your code, use 127.0.0.1 instead of the host name.

  • How do I prevent firefox from loading page when I type in first few letters?

    I am giving my laptop to my daughter. I deleted history and emptied cache. Yet if she were to type the letter 'c', an adult site I have visited pops up - WITH MY USERNAME AND PASSWORD ALREADY TYPED IN! This gives her full access to my adult activity on the site.
    How do I prevent this from happening? I want to totally remove this site from firefox's 'memory', especially the username and password.

    To log you out of all websites your gonna want to clear the cookies:
    * Firefox in top left corner > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies >Remove all Cookies
    I would also recommend resetting Firefox if you are no longer gonna use it yourself :
    * Firefox in top left corner>Help>Troubleshooting Information>Reset Firefox
    See here for more information:
    [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]]
    [[Delete cookies to remove the information websites have stored on your computer]]

  • Loading HTML or PHP page in flash

    Hi,
    I would like someone to tell me if there is a way to load html or php page in flash just like a movieclip without actually navigating from the flash player(by using getURL code). Basically, I am wondering if there is a way to load a html file just like we load movieclips and perform all the functions of html page.
    Thanks,
    Abinash

    No.  Flash can only display html content in textfields and only supports a very limited number of html tags (look up the htmlText property of TextFields).  So to display an html/php file is not possible.

  • Safari now slow loading pages from Apple!

    This is an add on from a future post today with this problem. Safari slow loading pages, NOW even slow loading Apple pages here on the discussion board.

    Repairing permissions is an important part of regular maintenance, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
    Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
    In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
    This only takes a minute or two.
    Background information here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751
    and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
    If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
    Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

  • Pages slow to load or do not load, then time out, sometimes stopping page from loading will reveal it or stopping and refreshing it, though not always.

    pages will not always load or take forever, if i stop it from loading and refresh it it may load right away though not always. It is like the old days @ 33K, never used to happen, basically have all the same plugins have always had.
    has been doing this for several months now, finally can't take it any more, all malware, virus, scans are clean, settings are the same for last ? years.
    do get script problems from time to time but not very often.
    loading say New egg, will take forever or will not completely load page, have backed up all bookmarks, etc: removed and reinstalled but no change.
    any Ideas would be of great help. I have been using Firefox, since it's inception and don't want to switch browsers.
    Thank You,
    Mark

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Can I import HTMLs from inside the project and use as portlet page ?

    As you know, I am using Java Studio Creator 2 Update 1 for my current portal project. I have created JSR-168 JSF Portlet Project for my portlet development.
    As I have some html pages ready for my development,
    Can I import HTMLs from inside the project and use as portlet page for my project?
    I did the followings steps:
    1: In side the project - File -> Add Existing Item -> Web Page ( imported test.html page from my local folder)
    2: Let it convert some of the tags for me ( so now it becomes - test.jsp )
    3: Set it to initial view.
    4. A default portlet page newPortletPage.jsp is still there with no initial view.
    Now after doing this, No Visual Designer and Properties window available to for that test.jsp page. Though it allowed me to build the project successfully.
    When I build and run the portlet application, got the error message Error occurred in portlet! on Pluto Portal. Please advice.

    You do not open fcpproject files. You don't double click or anything else. The files have to be in the correct folder structure in the Final Cut Projects folder and the application opens them automatically. Can you post screen shots of the Final Cut Projects folder and its location.

  • Firefox 4 sucks! Why can't I save my tabs when closing Firefox, & why can't I have a red X to stop a slow page from loading?

    NOT FASTER!! MUCH SLOWER!!
    When I close Firefox, I can no longer save my tabs. WHAT GIVES?
    When a new page isn't coming up, I can no longer stop it from loading & try again.
    WHY do my tabs need to be above the toolbars?
    I've loved using Firefox & have used it exclusively for about the last ten years, but if this is how it's always going to be now, I'm going to look for a new browser!
    ''moderator edited the title of this thread''

    The described fix seems to work fine, and I appreciate the fast response.
    Firefox developers, I've been a developer myself. Setting the default to not save tabs in Firefox 4 is going to make a lot of people VERY angry.
    I'm a fairly educated user. After upgrading, the first thing I did was to check Preferences and try to make sure all settings were good to maintain what I've been accustomed to doing. I didn't take the Firefox 4 tour, but shut down the application to make sure caches were emptied. There was no warning about my multiple tabs, but it was too late to stop the process. When I opened it again, all my tabs were gone, some of which related to material or local logins that I will have a hard time re-creating.
    If my wife had done this, you would have heard her swearing without benefit of phone or online chat window, no matter where your labs are. :-)
    For everyone's sanity, please don't turn off the Preserve Tabs on Logout function without warning.

  • How do I defeat or whitelist the "Firefox has blocked this site from loading another web page" function?

    Often when I click a link within a web page, a message bar appears at the top of the page saying "Firefox has blocked this site from loading another page" or something similar. This happens frequently on banking or credit card sites. This is particularly annoying because it seems to disturb the operation of the link when I have to click the "Allow" box on the message bar. I would prefer to create a whitelist for this feature so it would not interrupt my banking operations. Failing that, I would like to know how to toggle the feature on and off. Failing that, I would like to know how to defeat the function.

    See:
    *Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
    The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

  • Refer to an object in Edge from an onclick="" in a .html file loaded into an iFrame in the animation

    HI, I am trying to figure out the Edge hierachies by stumbling my way through coding reference attempts. I've hit a wall...
    How can I refer to an object and a global function in my Edge animation from an onclick=""  located in an .html file loaded into an iFrame created within the master/parent Edge animation. Here's what I have...
    My main index.html is an Edge animation. One object <div> is a box created within Edge. I have added an iFrame with the Edge code:
    sym.$("MenuPanelScreen").html('<iframe src="list_images_cemetery.html" width="267" height="670" sandbox="allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation"></iframe>');
    That .html file which loads into the iframe within the animation contains thumbnails in <a> tags and contain onclick="" statements that should call a function within the Edge file.
    Eventually, I want the statements to read something like... onclick="changePic('Dragon.jpg', 'The Dragon', 'Saint and Worm')"
    However, I had no idea how to reference the changePic() function in the Edge animation. So, just to figure out how to reference the parent animation from an html in an iFrame, I change the onclick="" statements to...
    <a onclick="alert('Try to hide Nameplate'); sym.$('NamePlate_sym').hide();" >  <img src="gallery/TheyGaveUpTheirDead.jpg" width="80" alt="Angel and Worm" /></a>
    I first wanted to see if I could hide an Edge Symbol or div/element from the child html. I tried the following...
    onclick="alert('Try to hide Nameplate'); sym.$('NamePlate_sym', window.parent.document).hide();"
    I tried a few other variations that I won't bore you with. Can someone help me with the proper reference to effect an Edge element?
    Furthermore, I eventually wnat the onclick="" statement to reference a global function on attached to the Edge stage in the compositionReady event of the stage. The function is...
    window.changePic=function(myFileCurr, myLabelCurr, myDescriptionCurr) {
    alert("in changePick");
      document.getElementById("myImage").src="gallery/"+myFileCurr;
      document.getElementById("myImageLabel").innerHTML=myLabelCurr;
      document.getElementById("myImageDescr").innerHTML=myDescriptionCurr;
    I hope someone can point me in the right direction. Please forgive my ignorance. i am just getting back into coding and learning the intricacies of Jscript and jQuery. Thanks!

    Hi again Elaine,
    I actually had some success after many attempts with using your code. I can control the .stop() and .play() of the "NamePlate_sym" symbol. Yet, I am still having trouble doing anything else with it. I cannot .hide() it, nor use .html("Change text") on another element on the stage called"Rectangle". If I can accomplish that and all a global function on the stage, I'm in good shape.
    I placed the following script in the header of the .html file that gets loaded into the iFrame within the Edge composition:
      <script type="text/javascript">
       window.parent.AdobeEdge.bootstrapCallback(function(compId) {
       comp = window.parent.AdobeEdge.getComposition(compId).getStage();
       alert("CompID is "+compId);
       var symbol = document.createElement('div');
       symbol.innerHTML = 'Rotate';
       symbol.style.cssText = 'background-color:#fea; width: 50px; text-align: center;';
       symbol.style.cursor = 'pointer';
       symbol.onclick = function() {
        if (comp.getSymbol("NamePlate_sym").isPlaying()) {
         comp.getSymbol("NamePlate_sym").stop();
        else {
         comp.getSymbol("NamePlate_sym").play();
       window.parent.document.body.appendChild(symbol);
            </script>
    Once I put window.parent. in the first two lines of code and the last, my test worked. As I mentioned earlier though, I still can't get the syntax correct to .hide() an element (i.e. comp.getSymbol("NamePlate_sym").hide(); does not work), or more importantly, change the innerHTML value of an element on the stage. The code either does nothing or freezes.
    Thanks... Tommy

  • Can I set a bookmarked link to open in the sidebar AND when a new page is loaded/originates from this page?

    Example: I have Google advanced search bookmarked and set to open in the sidebar. When I submit the search, I'd like it to open in the main view port. Is there a way to make links, POST/GET requests or otherwise any new page loads originating from the page loaded in the sidebar?

    So, if I remove a session var is there a way to test for its existence as well?
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Writing new HTML to a page from an applet using LiveConnect, 1.3.1 Plug-i

    Has anyone been able to successfully replace a page with an applet with the dynamically generated HTML from an applet using LiveConnect and Plugin 1.3.1 in Netscape 6.2 or IE?
    The following works fine without plugin or with 1.4.0 beta3 plugin.
    Here is the code that I use without plugin:
    JSObject windowObject = JSObject.getWindow(this);
    JSObject documentObject = (JSObject) windowObject.getMember("document");
    documentObject.call("close",null);
    documentObject.call("open",null);
    String anArray1[] = {null};
    anArray1[0] ="some HTML here";
    documentObject.call("write", anArray1);
    documentObject.call("close",null);
    Here is the code that I use with 1.4.0 plugin:
    JSObject windowObject = JSObject.getWindow(this);
    JSObject documentObject = (JSObject) windowObject.getMember("document");
    String anArray1[] = {null};
    anArray1[0] ="some HTML here";
    documentObject.call("write", anArray1);
    When I try to use anyone of the above using plugin 1.3.1, the browser either hangs or plugin generates runtime error. What is the correct way of writing to a document object? Or what is the way that works for 1.3.1 plugin?

    Hi,
    I am doing this in my applet to replace the page containing the applet with the new content. I tested that extensively with Netscape 4.7 and IE 5.5+. Definitely works if you are using Java Plug-In 1.3.1_02. Does not work well in Netscape 6.2.
        protected void setPageContent(final String newContent) {
            final JSObject window = JSObject.getWindow(this);
            final JSObject document = (JSObject) window.getMember("document");
            new Thread( new Runnable() {
                            public void run() {
                                document.call("clear", null);
                                document.call("write", new String[]{newContent});
                                try {
                                              document.call("close", null);
                                   } catch (JSException ignored) {
                        } ).start();
