Assign fixed values through CMOD

Hello all,
I have been asked to make an enhancemet to assing fixed values to a field, so there would be a drop down after wards. Is this posible through CMOD? I know i can do it through se11 and fix the domain, but not sure if it is the correct process.
Thanks.

Hi,
Enhancement(SMOD,CMOD) or BADI (SE18,SE19) are just predefined user exit for customer to implement their specific logic in the specific application/component .
So your question is depending on whether there is a prefined user exit for that field. In my opinion, enhancement for assigning fiexed values to field mostly don't have predefined user exit.
But you can achieve it with it's search help exit instead, do as below:
1. If  a search help already been attached to that field, just implement search help exit via se11(choose search help and change)
Hope helps,
Chen Jian

  • Assigning a value to a number field through a button

    11gxe , apex 4.x ,
    hi all ,
    i am trying to assign value to a number field through a button ,
    i created a button , then a dynamic action for this button , when it is clicked ,
    the dynamic action is based on Pl\Sql code , and the code is
    begin
    :p2_assign := 455 ; -- where the page is "p2" and the number field is "assign"
    end ;
    but it does not work , why ?

    I can see the toolbar now from the last link you provided me with ,
    but you showed me the way to use the static assigning , and assigning with sql , and i want to do it with "Pl\Sql"
    in order to know why my way of writing the code does not work , although it is written properly , and should work .
    every input item is a variable , and i am doing so
    begin
    :p2_assign := 455 ; -- where the page is "p2" and the number field is "assign"
    end ;
    to assign a value to a variable ,
    and
    doing this
    begin
    select 455 into :p2_no from dual ;
    end ;
    to select a value into a variable , then
    why does not it work ??
    and how to do it with pl\sql ?
    thanks

  • Fixed value assignment while creating Domain

    Hi All,
    While creating a Domain with data type 'CHAR', No. characters 13, in Value Range > Fixed Value i had given 'TEST_MATERIAL' but it only takes first 10 Characters (TEST_MATER). I wan to display all characters.
    how can I solve it.
    Points Assured.
    Regards,
    Suresh

    Hi here the problem is not your length.
    The standarad SAP length for the value field is 10. So even if your domain has length more than 10 the value field cannot accomodate that length.
    So no option ... you must go for Value Table.
    Also the fixed ranges are mostly for numbers... tht's why they have fixed the max length as 10 which is large in case of numbers...
    Better to go for Value Table. I have tried that and is working fine.

  • Fixed Values and Value Mapping

    Hi Experts,
         I hav a doubt regarding these to funnctions in Messege mapping. In both teh functions , we can change a value coming from Load to some thing else.
    Like
    A=1
    B=2
    C=8.
    The difference i hav noted is the in case of fixed values, we can assign the valsues in the messege mapping itself, and in case  of value mapping it is assigned in the value mapping table  in integartion directory, and thsi can be seen through  Runtime Workbench in Cache Monitering. . Apart from that there seems to be no big significat difference in the application .
    Pls correct me , if I ma missing out something.
    Pls tell me if both hav the same functionality, why were these 2 functions made , any 1 of them, preferably Value Mappimg Function could hav been enough.
    Regards,
    Arnab.

    Hi
    Fixed value mapping is Message mapping Specific
    But Value mapping allows u to create a Schema and group .
    Value mapping functionality will be well understood in large integration where many mapping programs using same conversions.
    Maintain advantage is maintance is easy with value mapping because if any chnages in value , just ID change is enogh no need to go mapping but this is not with fixed value
    For instance if u r using Fixed value in 50 mapping programs u need to change in all
    But if u r using Value mapping just one ID
    Which one u prefer
    all based upon u r landscape for mapping

  • OpenSQLException - Cannot assign double value

    Hello,
      I have some table in database with field of type 'double'. I use JDBC to store data in this table and sometimes I would like to place special values in it, eg:
    preparedStatement.setDouble(1, Double.MIN_VALUE);
    Unfortunately I get exception like the one below.
    My question is: what is the allowed range of values for type 'double' in database according to OpenSQL spec ?

    Hi,
       Thank you for your replay. I didn't touch DB directly, I defined db structure through NetWeaver Dictionary perspective and table that i'm interested in is defined like the one on this screen: http://zduniak.com/tmp/sap_dictionary_double.png
    So I'm looking for generic solution (SAP OpenSQL), not specific to any particular DB vendor.
    Maybe there is somewhere on help.sap.com (i couldn't find unfortunately) information what is the allowed range of values for type 'double' in database according to OpenSQL spec ?
    Thank,

  • How i can assign multiple values to tabuler text item (Help)

    HI
    IM PROGRAMMING ONE FORM AND I PUT THERE TABULER TEXT ITEM
    I WANT ASSIGN 63 VALUES TO THIS TEXT ITEM ONE BY ONE BY CODE I MEAN PUT FIRST VALUE IN THE FIRST TEXT ITEM ROW THEN SECOND TO THE SECOND TEXT ITEM AND LIKE THIS UNTIL I REACH TO THE LAST
    I MAKE LOV PUT I CAN ASSIGN ONE VALUE BY ONE VALUE EACH TIME DOUBLE CLICK ON THE TEXT ITEM ASSIGN ONE VALUE THEN DOUBLE CLICK ON THE SECOND ROW PUT MY BOSS WANT ASSIGN ALL VALUES 63 FROM ONE CLICK ON BUTTON

    Then you will have to create a when-validate-item trigger with a cursor based on your selection of your LOV . Loop through that cursor assigning the next in the next record by using the built-in function next_record. (put you selection for you value in a hidden item for example.
    something like this:
    Declare
    cursor c is
    select returnValueFromLOV
    from <yourtable>
    where yourdisplay value = :hidden_tem;
    begin
    for r in c loop
    next_record;
    item := r. returnValueFromLOV;
    end loop;

    end;
    Hope it put you on the road to reach what you want

    Can we assign two values to the same parameter? If yes how? For details please go through the following SAP related program.
    Here I need to print 2 queries using the same parameter "QUERY" the value assigned to this parameter(query) is REPORT_TEST1. I want to assign one more value to this Parameter. Is is possible? This question may sound stupid if it is not possible please kindly reply.
    I want to do this to print two documents(values) with a single command (parameter)
    Anybody please help quickly,
    Now, I have 2 tables from different queries. I have a print (HTML written) option in my WEB Template
    JAVA PROGRAM:
    <param name="QUERY" value="REPORT_TEST1"/>
    function PrintReport(typePaper) {
    document.title ='Report';
    if (typePaper == "0")
    {var CurrentReportName = '&?mp=U&ptot=1&rtot=0&psize=' + escape(typePaper) + '&fsize=' + escape('39') + '&qtitle=' + escape(document.title);};
    if (typePaper == "1")
    {var CurrentReportName = '&?mp=U&ptot=1&rtot=0&psize=' + escape(typePaper) + '&fsize=' + escape('52') + '&qtitle=' + escape(document.title);};
    CurrentReportName += '&ASOFDATE=' + escape(AsOfLabel.innerText);
    var openCMD='<SAP_BW_URL>';
    openCMD += '&DATA_PROVIDER=REPORT_TEST1&TEMPLATE_ID=DPW_PRINT_PAGE&CMD=RELEASE_DATA_PROVIDER';
    openCMD += CurrentReportName;
    openWindow(openCMD,'MainTitleNow',800,600);
    The data provider here is REPORT_TEST1. Now it only prints the corresponding data for the data proviedr 1 i.e., REPORT_TEST1. I have a second table whose data comes from the data provider 2 when i use this HTML to print I want the second table contents from the data provider 2 (REPORT_TEST2)also to be printed simlutaneously.
    Please help.
    THANX A LOT,
    SRINI

    Hi,
    Try assigning two values seperated by a delimiter ( say '|') to the same parameter.
    In the function get the parameter value and seperate the values using the same delimiter.
    <param name="QUERY" value="REPORT_TEST1|REPORT_TEST2"/>

    Uma

    Here I need to print 2 queries using the same parameter "QUERY" the value assigned to this parameter(query) is REPORT_TEST1. I want to assign one more value to this Parameter. Is is possible? This question may sound stupid if it is not possible please kindly reply.
    I want to do this to print two documents(values) with a single command (parameter)
    Anybody please help quickly,
    Now, I have 2 tables from different queries. I have a print (HTML written) option in my WEB Template
    JAVA PROGRAM:
    <param name="QUERY" value="REPORT_TEST1"/>
    function PrintReport(typePaper) {
    document.title ='Report';
    if (typePaper == "0")
    {var CurrentReportName = '&?mp=U&ptot=1&rtot=0&psize=' + escape(typePaper) + '&fsize=' + escape('39') + '&qtitle=' + escape(document.title);};
    if (typePaper == "1")
    {var CurrentReportName = '&?mp=U&ptot=1&rtot=0&psize=' + escape(typePaper) + '&fsize=' + escape('52') + '&qtitle=' + escape(document.title);};
    CurrentReportName += '&ASOFDATE=' + escape(AsOfLabel.innerText);
    var openCMD='<SAP_BW_URL>';
    openCMD += '&DATA_PROVIDER=REPORT_TEST1&TEMPLATE_ID=DPW_PRINT_PAGE&CMD=RELEASE_DATA_PROVIDER';
    openCMD += CurrentReportName;
    openWindow(openCMD,'MainTitleNow',800,600);

    <param name="QUERY" value="REPORT_TEST1|REPORT_TEST2"/>

  • Assigning a Value to a Text Symbol: DEFINE

    Hi all,
    I am printing some text in the form. The text is in the database table and is retrieved. say the field name is fld06 in the table ztfin. Previously it is code as &zfin-fld06& in the form edotir. Now my requiremnet is to dispay some other text where ever I have to print ztfin-fld06. I have used the define statement in this way :
    /: DEFINE &ztfin-fld06& = 'Data Fattura'
    But when I look at the output the text is not replaced nor it is realised while I am debugging. Can anyone tellme where I am going wrong ?
    Regards,
    Varun.

    hi
    chk this out
    <b>DEFINE: Value assignment to text symbols
    Text symbols receive their value through an explicit assignment. This assignment can be made interactively in the editor via the menu options Include &#61614;&#61472;&#61614;&#61472;Symbols &#61614;&#61472;&#61614;&#61472;Text. This lists all the text symbols of a text module, as well as those of the allocated layout set.
    The contents defined in this way are lost if the transaction is exited. To continue printing the text module, you would have to enter the symbol values again.The DEFINE command allows you to anchor this value assignment firmly in the text, to also have it available when you next call up the text. Furthermore, you can allocate another value to a text symbol in
    the course of the text.
    Syntax:
    /: DEFINE &symbolname& = ‘value’
    Example:
    /: DEFINE &re& = ‘Your correspondence of 3/17/94’
    Example:
    /: DEFINE &symbol1& = ‘xxxxxxx’
    /: DEFINE &symbol2& = ‘yyy&symbol1&’
    /: DEFINE &symbol1& = ‘zzzzzzz’
    Result: &symbol2& &#61614;&#61472;yyyzzzzzzz
    The assigned value may have a maximum of 60 characters. It can also contain further symbols. When a symbol is defined using the control command DEFINE, symbols which occur in the value are not immediately replaced by their value. They are only replaced when the target symbol is output. If the operator := is used in the DEFINE statement, all symbols which occur in the value which is to be assigned are immediately replaced by their current values. The resulting character string is only then assigned to the target symbol when all occurring symbols have been replaced. The length of the value is limited to 80 characters. The target symbol must be a text symbol, as at present.
    Syntax:
    /: DEFINE &symbolname& := ‘value’</b>

  • How can batch field in Purchase Order(PO) be a fixed value????

    Hi Experts,
    In SAP, when create a purchase order, there is a field "Batch" for every item,
    which means "Assigns a material that is manufactured in batches or production lots to a specific
    batch ".
    For some special reasons, we want for some certain materials,when create purchase orders every
    time,the "Batch" field will be a fixed values.
    For example,for material "AB1" ,"CD2",when create purchase orders every time,the "Batch" field will
    be "2345" automatically,do not need input manually.But for all the other materials, the "Batch" field would be null ,no value.
    How can I do this? How can assign fixed batch number values to some certain materials in Purchase
    Order?
    If there needs some ABAP development,which user exit do I need??
    Thanks for any reply!

    Hi there,
    You may need to establish, whether you wish to use batch managent or split valuation.
    Spilt valuation does allow you to default values into purchasing documents via information records, but I guess it depends on what else you want to do with this tracking
    Split valuation can be controlled independently at the material and plant level

  • Assigning of values to the charecteristics while doing GR

    Dear Gurus
    I have created a charecteristic and assigned it to a class of classtype 23 (batch class).I assigned this class to a material.Now while doing GR of this material through TCODE MB1C and movement type 561 the system is giving the automatic batch number.But it is not giving any options for assigning  the values for the charecteristic that I have kept in the class.How to assign the value while doing GR ?.I am able to assign the value by going to TCODE MSC2N.
    Regards
    Sandip Sarkar

    Hi Sandip,
    One option will be mark all those characteristics as Entry Required in T.code CT04.
    So that you will get a warning msg. during GR if value is not maintain.
    Msg. No is LB045 and msg is,
    The characteristic values for the batch are incomplete.
    If required you can convert that warning msg to Error also.
    You can do it by using T.code OCHS.
    But keep notice that you have to go that Classification tab manually - there is no other option in

    Hi experts,
       As per subject i have a field for which i have assigned 5 fixed values in the domain level (of that field) . The problem is when i am displaying my ALV grid output i need a F4 help and F4 Option for the same is not reflecting and i have assigned in the field catlog as shown bellow.
    wa_fcat-fieldname = 'ZDEPLOY'.
      wa_fcat-tabname = 'IT_FINAL'.
    wa_fcat-f4availabl = 'X'.
    wa_fcat-key     =  'X'.
      WA_FCAT-SELTEXT_L = 'Deployment Planned'.
      wa_fcat-outputlen = '25'.
       WA_FCAT-EDIT = 'X'.
       WA_FCAT-REF_FIELDNAME = 'ZDEPLOY'.
       WA_FCAT-REF_TABNAME = 'ZETMDEPL'.
      APPEND WA_FCAT TO IT_FIELDCAT.
      CLEAR WA_FCAT.
    for the above field the f4 help is not reflecting.
    Intrestingly i have another field which i have declared using the same procedure for which my F4 help (with fixed values ) is reflecting in the same program .with the values as shown below
        wa_fcat-fieldname = 'ZFINAL'.
      wa_fcat-tabname = 'IT_FINAL'.
      WA_FCAT-SELTEXT_L = 'Final Status'.
      wa_fcat-outputlen = '10'.
       WA_FCAT-EDIT = 'X'.
       wa_fcat-ref_fieldname = 'ZFINAL'.
       wa_fcat-ref_tabname = 'ZETMDEPL'.
      APPEND WA_FCAT TO IT_FIELDCAT.
      CLEAR WA_FCAT.

    There was a mismatch of characteristics. I resolved by matching the same.

  • Checking domain fixed values

    I have a screen field in a dynpro where the domain has a fixed value range. The values shows up in the F4 help, but I can't figure out the best way to validate it in the PAI short of hardcoding, which I'd like to avoid.
    Take for example a domain with possible values 'A', 'B', 'C', '1', '2' or '3'. These values pull through to the search help but I also need to validate manual user input against this list.
    I understand the DDIC attribute for a screen element can do this, but that's not an option in this case as the name of the field does not match the name of a dictionary field. Any other suggestions?
    Thanks

    If this field should only contain values from the domain fixed value range, why don't you make it into a drop down listbox field?  This would make manual input impossible and all they can do is select values from the drop down list.
