Assign in Unicode system

Hi All,
I have a peice of code in 46C which works fine
   data: xml_line     type tbl256,
"tbl256 has   component 'line' of data type raw and lenght 256
         xml_size type i value 100. "first 100 bytes of xml_line-line is valid data
   field-symbols: <f1>.
   assign xml_line1-line+0(xml_size) to <f1>.
   xml_line1-line = <f1>.
In 46C system,
after the assign statement above, <f1> is of type CHAR and the assignment xml_line1-line = <f1>. causes the string to be assigned to xml_line1-line with spaces after xml_size ( a value of 20 is shown in the debugger)
In 472 system,
after the assign statement, <f1> is of type HEX
and teh assignment xml_line1-line = <f1>. causes the string to be assigned to xml_line1-line with zeros after xml_size ( # is shown in the debugger)
how can i make this peice of code work in unicode 472 system?
Thanks a lot for any pointers/advices and i promise i will reward the answer!!

Thanks Nishant Senthil and Sid.
I tried changing the feild symbol to type c.
field-symbols: <f1> type c.
The system dumps with 'ASSIGN_TYPE_CONFLICT'
I tried casting with the assign.
assign xml_line1-line+0(xml_size) to <f1> casting.
Cannot do casting without type since <f1> is generic so did a casting with type c instead.
assign xml_line1-line+0(xml_size) to <f1> casting type c.
This statement gets <f1> to be of type c.
However the statement
xml_line1-line = <f1>.
does not work and strangely sets all bytes of xml_line-line to initial values(zeros). the content being pointed by <f1> is not moved to xml_line1-line.

  • Need to assign a multi datatype struct to a single field in Unicode system

    Hi all,
    I had posted an earlier question related to this to understand what the issue is. Few responses helped. Then now I have gone thru the conversion rules in Unicode systems related to assigning a structure (with different data types) to a single field and looking for a solution for my case. The current code written in 4.6 says
    l_bapiparex-valuepart1 = l_bape_vbap
    where
    l_bape_vbap is a structure of type bape_vbap and
    l_bapiparex of type bapiparex.
    So according to the rules, when I do this kind of an assignment in ECC , the first field's length (i.e. VBELN) must be min 240 characters long. Only then this assignment will be error free, am I right ?
    Or Is this an inadmissable assignment situation ?
    If not then is there any other way how I can achieve the same result by fixing this issue ? I am not able to think of any !! Has any one come across this kind of an issue during upgrade? Please do suggest.
    Just for your reference I have pasted the rule details from SAP help..
    Conversion in Unicode Programs
    The following rules apply in Unicode programs when converting a flat structure to a single field and vice versa:
    If a structure is purely character-like, it is processed during conversion like a data object of the type c (Casting). The single field can have any elementary data type.
    If the structure is not purely character-like, the single field must have the type c and the structure must begin with a character-like fragment that is at least as long as the single field. The assignment takes place only between this fragment and the single field. The character-like fragment of the structure is treated like a data object of the type c (Casting) in the assignment. If the structure is the target field, the remaining character-like fragments are filled with blanks and all other components with the initial value that corresponds to their type.
    No conversion rule is defined for any other cases, so that assignment is not possible.
    Note
    If a syntax error occurs due to an inadmissible assignment between flat structures and single fields, you can display the fragment view of the corresponding structure when displaying the syntax error in the ABAP Editor by choosing the pushbutton with the information icon.
    thanks

    Try this way
          call method cl_abap_container_utilities=>fill_container_c
            exporting
              im_value               = l_bape_vbap
            importing
              ex_container           = l_bapiparex-valuepart1
            exceptions
              illegal_parameter_type = 1

  • Assignment of BEx 7 connection parameters in unicode system

    Hi, experts!
    We faced the following problem:
    There is a BEx 7 workbook on BI-server. We use this WB to save data in DSO with remote function module. To call the this FM, in VBA-function we create an object  r3 like u201CSAP.Functionsu201D.This object gets BEx Analyzeru2019s current connection parameters. At that moment the following error raises: u201CRun-time error u201861704u2019: Internal application erroru201D.
    Our BI-system is Unicode system. In all Non-unicode BI-systems, that we tested, connection parameters are sending successfully. However, if we create "SAP.Functions.Unicode" object, then there is another error: "Run-time error '-2147352568 (80020008)': Bad variant type".
    When we use the similar functions in BEx 3.5, assignment of connection parameters is fine with "SAP.Functions" object both in Unicode and non-unicode systems... Using "SAP.Functions.Unicode" does not lead to error, but the connection is not happening in this case.
    Could you advice what settings should be done in BI-system or how can we adjust our function to solve connection problen

  • Convert_otf in unicode system

    Hello,
    we have switched a CRM4.0 system from non-unicode to unicode. In this context we became two problems with the result of the function module 'CONVERT_OTF'. We call the function Module following:
      call function 'CONVERT_OTF'
       exporting
         format                      = 'PDF'
         max_linewidth               = 132
         copynumber                  = 0
       importing
         bin_filesize                = lv_bin_filesizepdf
        tables
         otf                         = it_otfdata
         lines                       = lt_lines_pdf
    the otf tabel is generated by a Smartform.
    Noticeable is, that the pdf table in the unicode system has similarly only the half quantity of rows than in the non-unicode system. (The parameter FLATE_COMPR_OFF in Report RSTXPDF3 allways is on)
    1. Problem
    We send the pdf table (lt_lines_pdf) via RFC to a non-unicode R/3 system and save it there on the file system. After switching to unicode, the document in the RFC system is damaged an cannot processed.
    2. Problem
    We transform the lt_lines_pdf for an archive in the following way.
    data: ls_data    type char1024
        , lv_134     type char134
        , ls_lines   type tline
        , lt_data    type standard table of tbl1024
    field-symbols: <fs> type tbl1024.
    assign ls_data to <fs> casting.
      lv_count = 0.
      loop at lt_lines_pdf into ls_lines.
        lv_134 = ls_lines.
        lv_offset = lv_count.
        lv_count = lv_count + 134.
        if lv_count < 1024.
          ls_data+lv_offset(134) = lv_134.
        else.
          lv_count = lv_count - 1024.
          lv_begin = 134 - lv_count.
          ls_data+lv_offset(lv_begin) = lv_134(lv_begin).
          append <fs> to lt_data.
          clear ls_data.
          if lv_count > 0.
            ls_data = lv_134+lv_begin(*).
          endif.
        endif.
      endloop.
      if ls_data is not initial.
        append <fs> to lt_data.
      endif.
    We need lt_data for the FM 'SCMS_AO_TABLE_CREATE'.
    I hope anybody can help me, I invest already much time in this problem!

    Hi,
    CONVERT_OTF packs two byte into one character of i-tab LINES on unicode systems. If you pass this via RFC to non-unicode systems data ist lost. The table contents are bytes when if the data type is character. The conversion routines between unicode and non-unicode do not know about this.
    However the function module contains an export paramter BIN_FILE. This parameter is of type XSTRING, which has always a byte-representation. This datatype will not be converted between RFC-calls.

    Read first some documentation like [Character String Processing|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/79/c554d9b3dc11d5993800508b6b8b11/frameset.htm], usually hexadecimal fields contain control characters (line feed, carriage return, tabulations and the like), so use constants of class [CL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES|http://help.sap.com/abapdocu_70/en/ABENCL_ABAP_CHAR_UTILITIES.htm].

    You need to use the transaction UCCHECK.
    The report documentation is here
    ABAP Unicode Scan Tool UCCHECK
    You can use transaction UCCHECK to examine a Unicode program set for syntax errors without having to set the program attribute "Unicode checks active" for every individual program. From the list of Unicode syntax errors, you can go directly to the affected programs and remove the errors. It is also possible to automatically create transport requests and set the Unicode program attribute for a program set.
    Some application-specific checks, which draw your attention to program points that are not Unicode-compatible, are also integrated.
    Selection of Objects:
    The program objects can be selected according to object name, object type, author (TADIR), package, and original system. For the Unicode syntax check, only object types for which an independent syntax check can be carried out are appropriate. The following object types are possibilities:
    PROG Report
    CLAS Class
    FUGR Function groups
    FUGX Function group (with customer include, customer area)
    FUGS Function group (with customer include, SAP area)
    LDBA Logical Database
    CNTX Context
    TYPE Type pool
    INTF Interface
    Only Examine Programs with Non-Activated Unicode Flag
    By default, the system only displays program objects that have not yet set the Unicode attribute. If you want to use UCCHECK to process program objects that have already set the attribute, you can deactivate this option.
    Only Objects with TADIR Entry
    By default, the system only displays program objects with a TADIR entry. If you want to examine programs that don't have a TADIR entry, for example locally generated programs without a package, you can deactivate this option.
    Exclude Packages $*
    By default, the system does not display program objects that are in a local, non-transportable package. If you want to examine programs that are in such a package, you can deactivate this option.
    Display Modified SAP Programs Also
    By default, SAP programs are not checked in customer systems. If you also want to check SAP programs that were modified in a customer system (see transaction SE95), you can activate this option.
    Maximum Number of Programs:
    To avoid timeouts or unexpectedly long waiting times, the maximum number of program objects is preset to 50. If you want to examine more objects, you must increase the maximum number or run a SAMT scan (general program set processing). The latter also has the advantage that the data is stored persistently. Proceed as follows:
    - Call transaction SAMT
    - Create task with program RSUNISCAN_FINAL, subroutine SAMT_SEARCH
    For further information refer to documentation for transaction SAMT.
    Displaying Points that Cannot Be Analyzed Statically
    If you choose this option, you get an overview of the program points, where a static check for Unicode syntax errors is not possible. This can be the case if, for example, parameters or field symbols are not typed or you are accessing a field or structure with variable length/offset. At these points the system only tests at runtime whether the code is sufficient for the stricter Unicode tests. If possible, you should assign types to the variables used, otherwise you must check runtime behavior after the Unicode attribute has been set.
    To be able to differentiate between your own and foreign code (for example when using standard includes or generated includes), there is a selection option for the includes to be displayed. By default, the system excludes the standard includes of the view maintenance LSVIM* from the display, because they cause a large number of messages that are not relevant for the Unicode conversion. It is recommended that you also exclude the generated function group-specific includes of the view maintenance (usually L<function group name>F00 and L<function group name>I00) from the display.
    Similarly to the process in the extended syntax check, you can hide the warning using the pseudo comment ("#EC *).
    Applikation-Specific Checks
    These checks indicate program points that represent a public interface but are not Unicode-compatible. Under Unicode, the corresponding interfaces change according to the referenced documentation and must be adapted appropriately.
    View Maintenance
    Parts of the view maintenance generated in older releases are not Unicode-compatible. The relevant parts can be regenerated with a service report.
    UPLOAD/DOWNLOAD
    The function modules UPLOAD, DOWNLOAD or WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD are obsolete and cannot run under Unicode. Refer to the documentation for these modules to find out which routines serve as replacements.

  • Sending IDOCs from an MDMP to a Unicode system

    Colleagues
    I have been trying to send IDOCs containing Chinese characters from an MDMP system to a Unicode system.  The data is not being translated from the Chinese code page 8400 to Unicode format.
    To date I have created a new IDOC segment, within the original IDOC, which contains the language dependant data preceded by a language element.  I have also maintained SM59 on the receiving system (Unicode) to mark the sending system (in SM59 defined as an R/3 connection) as non-unicode, and activated the MDMP settings and mapping the language key ZH to codepage 8400.  I have also checked that the language key and code page is valid in the unicode box.This still doesn’t work.
    I was under the impression that the RFC system would translate the IDOC line by line and if it found a language key in the segment translate it using the code page assigned to that language, but this doesn’t seem to be the case.  The sending system is 4.5C and the receiving system 4.7.
    Is there anyway to get this to work without playing with the IDOC processing routines such as IDOC_INBOUND_ASYNCHRONOUS?  Is there something Im missing?
    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
    Perhaps you may want to try to use IDoc file interface instead of RFC.
    You can use standard program RSEINB00 to process and post the IDoc file.

    It's the first entry in every forum, it contains the "Rules of Engagement" which say:

  • An SLD system has not been assigned to logical system TEC101

    Hello all
    We are trying to send an message RFC or IDOC from our SRM (5.0) system to the XI (7.0). But we allways get the error
    "An SLD system has not been assigned to logical system TEC101". In the SLD the system is visible, sldcheck works.
    Does anyone know this problem and can give me a hint how to fix this problem?
    Thanks a lot
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    Is there a technical & Business System for SRM5.0 in SLD? If entry exists then confirm if the logical system name mentioned in Business System is TEC101.
    If entry does not exist in SLD for SRM, then in SRM run t-code
    1) SLDAPICUST .. Enter relevant details
    2) RZ70 : Give XI Server details , activate and then Execute.
    Once you do that you can see entry for SRM in SLD.
    After that try running the schenario again.

  • In unicode system:  Express document" update was terminated

    Hi Friends,
    When we create a PO /  Delivery / Sales / Billing documents in UNICODE Systems
    we are getting message
    "Express document" update was terminated"
    this is coming before we save the transaction.  Could any body help on this .

    Hi,
    Express error due to many reasons,
    1. If any Sap scripts/forms using then is that unicode compliant? check if any errors
    2. Verify the SAP Notes for that service pack, as there might be some bugs in the system
    3. Verify the problem might due to user exists or BADIs.

  • Client Copy between unicode system and non-unicode system

    Hello,
    we have to build up a new system for japan. It is planned to install a new 4.7Ext200 unicode system and then make a client copy from a non-unicode 4.7Ext200 (language= german, english) system to the unicode system. I don't think that this is possible way, but I can't find information regarding client copies from non-unicode to unicode. I would advice the project to convert the existing non-unicode system to unicode, make a system copy for the new system and then install japan languages. Any information, which can help me.
    Regards,
    Alexander
