Assign role, group to Human Task when initiated

Hi all,
Currently, when user login to BPM and create new task instance, i can get roles and groups of that user by programming. I want to assign roles of user to that task instance dynamically when user click SUBMIT button (Because i want to restrict users belong role are able to do this task, each user belong to a role and group can do it).
Somebody help?
Thanks.

Hi Ming
1. If you want to intercept any Actions from a Task like Save, Submit, Approve, Reject etc, you can create your own class like MyAppTaskValidationCallback that implements oracle.bpel.services.workflow.task.ITaskValidationCallback and in this overwrite one method named validateTaskOperation(bunch of parameters). See APIs for this.
In this method, you can get the action performed on the task. Also you can get the complete Payload of the Task including your custom payload and the standard Task Payload stuff like History, Attachments, Comments etc. You can write some simple XML Parser utility methods to get and set attributes in the Payload xsd schema. So in your case, in this method, get Roles, Groups of the logged in user. Check the action performed. If he is not allowed to do that operation, throw the error from this method. Else continue with your logic. To begin with create java class like above, add this code snippet and just explore the data.
Now, just curious. If your requirement is really to control the actions based on User Role/Groups, did you try to use the out of box functionality and avoid this custom logic. Say for BPM Applications, we have Swimlanes / Roles. Only users belonging to that Role, can work on that Tasks. Try to use out of box stuff as much as possible, unless you really need custom assignment logic.
Thanks

Just giving the code snippet to get an idea. But do refer the online APIs for more information.
public void validateTaskOperation(ITaskValidationCallback.TaskAction taskAction, IWorkflowContext iWorkflowContext, Task task, Map<String, Object> parameters, Locale locale, List<String> errors) {
try {
  Element taskPayload = task.getPayloadAsElement();
  String taskTitle;
  String taskOutcome;
  SystemAttributesType taskSystemAttributes = task.getSystemAttributes();
  taskTitle = task.getTitle();
  System.out.println("MyAppTaskValidationCallback::validateTaskOperation() Begin For TaskTitle: " + taskTitle + " -> TaskAction: " + taskAction + " -> Parameters:\n" + parameters);
  if(taskAction == TaskAction.ACQUIRE) {
      System.out.println("Inside ACQUIRE");
      //parameters.put("AcquiredBy", iWorkflowContext.getUser());
  } else if(taskAction == TaskAction.OUTCOME_UPDATE) {
    System.out.println("Inside OUTCOME_UPDATE");
} catch (Exception anException) {
  anException.printStackTrace();

  • Dynamic role setting in human task

    Hi,
    I would like to use the human task activity in a BPEL process setting the role that has to complete the activity dynamically.
    I mean, inside the human task editor, there is a section named "Assignment and Routing policy" where I add a participant to the task. There, I have two options: By name (which I have already used) or by expression.
    I would like to assign the role from a variable of my process. This is, I invoke the business rules engine, and the result is a role. Then, I want to assign the human task to that role. It this possible? How do I do this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Zaloa

    We do the same. We invoke a service from BPEL before the human workflow activity. This service returns a department (that is also present in our OID) based on some instance data. We assign this role to the human task in the task definition like this:
    <routingSlip xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/bpel/workflow/routingSlip">
    <globalConfiguration>
    <expirationDuration duration="/task:task/task:payload/ns0:humanTaskInformation/ns0:expirationDate"
    type="XPATH"/>
    </globalConfiguration>
    <participants isAdhocRoutingSupported="false">
    <participant name="Department">
    <resource isGroup="true" type="XPATH">/task:task/task:payload/ns0:humanTaskInformation/ns0:department</resource>
    </participant>
    </participants>
    <notification includeTaskAttachments="false" actionable="false"
    secureNotifications="false"/>
    </routingSlip>
    This works.
    As Eric already indicated, you should see some error detail in the audit trail when the human workflow activity "falls through".

  • How to Design User Accounts and Groups for Human Task

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement wherein we have a group of people to whom tasks get assigned. Details are below
    Assume
    PO- Purchase Order
    IN- Invoice
    CL1 - Client 1
    CL2 - Client 2
    CL3 - Client 3
    REP1 - User 1
    REP2 - User 2
    REP3 - User 3
    APP1 - Approver 1
    APP2 - Approver 2
    APP3 - Approver 3
    1. There are two groups of people say PO_Team and IN_Team.
    2. REPx are the folks who are in the IN_Team. They handle monitor invoices and run reports on them (READ - Only)
    3. APPx are the folks who are in the PO_team. They approve order and sometimes modify them (READ-WRITE)
    4. CLIx are the clients each of whom send PO and expect IN in return
    5. CLI1 - APP1- REP1 together handle one client.
    Now the requirement is something like this
    1. APP1 must be able to see the PO and IN only from CLI1
    2. APP1 must be able to see editable view of PO from CLI1
    3. APP1 must be able to see red only view of IN from CLI1
    4. REP1 must be able to see the PO and IN only from CLI1
    5. REP1 must be able to see read only view of IN from CLI1
    6. REP1 must be able to see read only view of PO from CLI1
    7. In exception cases APP1 can assign a PO from CLI1 to APP2
    Can someone help me in the design of groups and permissions for this?
    TIA

    Groups are the way to go. Every Human Task can be assigned to either a user or a group or a user and a group. Select the last option so that it goes to a particular user but also to a group. That way anyone in the group can approve these tasks though it is sent to one particular users list. Anyone from that group can pick that task up and approve it

    Hi
    See below post for one approach. Anytime a Task is Submitted (means completed by clicking any Action buttons like Submit, Approve, Reject etc etc), the outcome in the method mentioned below is like OUTCOME_UPDATE. First add some print statements here, then later add your custom code.

  • How to assign hierachical groups from OID, in bpm human task.

    Hi,
    We have a group in OID like
    "cn=MED,cn=Reviewer,cn=NSTIP,cn=STU,cn=KSU,cn=groups,dc=kacst,dc=edu,dc=sa"
    and I am tring to assign the group to a human activity using the assignment tab of the human task.
    I am using the lookupGroup function under Identiy Service Functions as below
    ids:lookupGroup('cn=MED,cn=Reviewer,cn=NSTIP,cn=STU,cn=KSU,cn=groups,dc=kacst,dc=edu,dc=sa')
    The human task is not able to assign the user under the group MED present in myrealm and OID.
    Please suggest.
    Thanks,
    Tuku

    Hi Dear,
    Thanks for your reply.
    what you have suggested to use like ids:lookupGroup('MED') ,this is working fine and I had already tested it before, from jdev and aslo from bpm workspace administration link. But here our problem is we are having more then one 'MED' group with different hierachy . so using directly ids:lookupGroup('MED') will be a problem because we dont know which
    'MED'group it will be assigned.
    Another problem is ,when I am going to search from myrealm (jazn.com) it showing me 3 MED groups (that is present currently in our OID with different hierachy) but not the hierachy, so its also difficult to find out which MED group belongs to which hierachy.
    If we can find a solution to ids:lookupGroup('cn=MED,cn=Reviewer,cn=NSTIP,cn=STU,cn=KSU,cn=groups,dc=kacst,dc=edu,dc=sa') then there wont be any confution to assign the actual group.
    Regarding your question "Do you get like any error or is it that Task just can't get assigned. Have you tried assiging directly like from EM to make sure that Group and user in this group is all fine."
    I am not getting eny error message its just can't get assigned and goes to the end of the bpm process cathing the happy path.
    tested the groups using the url http://soahost:soaport/integration/services/IdentityService/identity here is the result.
    1 ) For group MED
    Result :
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><env:Header/><env:Body><groupObject xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/bpel/services/IdentityService"><name>MED</name><realmName>jazn.com</realmName><displayName>AGR Tech Grp</displayName><description>Weblogic Admin Group</description><guid>080E537A820740B894307B6A7F97C884</guid><uniqueName>cn=MED,cn=groups,dc=kacst,dc=edu,dc=sa</uniqueName><identitType>group</identitType></groupObject></env:Body></env:Envelope>
    we have already 3 MED groups but it gave the result cn=MED,cn=groups,dc=kacst,dc=edu,dc=sa.
    2)For 'cn=MED,cn=Reviewer,cn=NSTIP,cn=STU,cn=KSU,cn=groups,dc=kacst,dc=edu,dc=sa'
    Result :
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"><env:Header/><env:Body><env:Fault><faultcode>env:env:Receiver</faultcode><faultstring/><faultactor/><detail><identityNotFoundError xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/bpel/services/IdentityService"><faultInfo xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/bpel/services/IdentityService">No Role found matching the criteria</faultInfo></identityNotFoundError></detail></env:Fault></env:Body></env:Envelope>

  • Advance Rules for routing in Oracle BPM Human Task

    Hi,
    I am working on SOA 11.1.1.5.0. I have created a sample SOA application with a Human Task.
    following are the Assignment details for my Human Task.
    1. Created a stage1
    2. Created a participant with following details
    Type = Single
    Build a list of participant using : ApproverGroup
    Specify attribute using : Rule-Based
    List Ruleset : SampleRuleset
    I have created some Advance Rules for routing as specified at http://www.orastudy.com/oradoc/selfstu/fusion/integration.1111/e10224/bp_hwfmodel.htm#BABGJGBD .Routing is perfectly working in my application.
    But when I login into WorklitApplication via weblogic user and accessed Administration link, under Task Configuration > Data Driven tab these Routing Rules are not appearing, however I can see this SampleRuleset there.
    I want to know whether these Routing Rules will be appeared in the WorklistApplication or not?
    regards,

    Hi,
    Concerning your first question the answer is yes, you can share the same UI with various Human Tasks. Assuming that your discriminator flag is the human task type, then you can create for example a taskflow parameter, pass this value and based on this value hide and show fields. You will have to bundle your UI project as an ADF shared library and attach it to each Human Task project that you would like to use it, drag and dropping the taskflow as a region (please have in mind that your taskflow pages definition should be set to fragments).
    For you second question, again the answer is yes. This is an out-of-the-box functionality provided by the auto-generated human task. There is a section called history that holds and displays all this information.
    For the third point, again the answer is yes. What you can do is that you can enable the OnTaskCompleted event so that whenever a participant complete their task to generate an event. Then you can have a mediator or a BPEL process that can subscribe to this event and process the notification.
    For question 4 i don't think that is possible (out of the box). You will have to write like a proxy service that will fetch this additional information from your LDAP server and map it to your participants list.
    Question 5, the organizational chart allows you to define the structure and hierarchy of your organization (users, groups, application roles) which can be used in your business processes to define your various approval types.
    For you last question, the shared flag is used for to define whether your logical roles (also called application roles) should be specific to a process or can be shared across processes.

    Antonis

  • Human Task - Send Attachment

    Hi.....
    While creating a Human Task, I am facing an issue, while attaching any .xsl in "Specify StyleSheet For Attachment" in "Advance Settings" in " .task " file for transformation of Task file (WorkFlowTask.xsd) to either xhtml or xml.
    it is sending the attachment as message.html file............ can I change it to .xml also. b'cos I am attaching .xsl to convert to xml to xml not to the html.
    Thanx in Advance
    Nitin

    Add a new assign-activity after the human task and add a copy operation: copy the variable /task:task/task:attachment to the second human task.
    Don't use the assign activity CopyPayloadFromTask in the switch activity because it is automaticaly generated when you change the workflow.

  • Error in adding multiple attachments to Human Task in BPM

    Hi
    Hope you are doing fine.
    My version is 11.1.1.5 without Feature Pack.
    I have a scenario where I get a set of documents from UCM, and I have all of them in an array(of type GetFileByIDResult(UCM GetFile Webservice response type)).
    Please note that for a single attachment, I'm not getting this problem.
    I know that ExecData.Attachments[] takes array of Attachment types.
    But I could not create an Attachments[](array type) type data object, What I could create is of type '<>Attachments' which I thought was an array, but not, as it is not letting me associate to ExecData.attachments
    So, I've created a variable of type ExecData(say PDOExecData), used a script task, and did XSLT between the array and this new PDOExecData
    I've used for-each on the arrayOfUCMOutput, mapped the content, name, etc.
    And, now, in the human task association, I've assigned PDOExecData.attachments to Human Task's ExecData.attachments
    But I'm getting the following error
    XPath query string returns multiple nodes. The assign activity part and query bpmn:getDataObject('taskExecData2')/ns:attachment are returning multiple nodes. The assign activity part and query named in the error message returned multiple nodes. It should return single node. According to BPEL4WS specification 1.1 section 14.3, the assign activity part and query named in the error message should not return multiple nodes. Verify the part and xpath query named in the error message at line number -1 in the BPEL source.
    This means htat attachments take a single element, but it should take array of elements, and that is what is showin in the mapper file indicated by attachments[] in the ExecData
    Would you please help me in this regard.
    One possible solution could be, if I'm able to create an array of 'Attachment' type, I could map to it and finally map this var to ExecData.attachments, but how to create an array of a type in BusinessObjects/ProcessDataObjects

  • Human Task expiration containing Task History from another Human Task

    Hi All,
    Let me explain you my complete workflow in brief.
    I have 8 Human Tasks and all are sharing Task history. My each individual Human task are in Scope activity. In my payload I have a variable "strExpiryDuration" and I am setting its value in an Assign activity before my last human task. I have assigned this variable "strExpiryDuration" in the expiry duration of my last human task definition. For the reference I am giving the value as "*P0DT1M*". But it is not expiring my last human task at all. I doubt it may be because task history which I am sharing in my human tasks is overwriting the payload values and thats why the value of strExpiryDuration is not setting up in task definition.
    I checked by assigning the same variable strExpiryDuration to some other value ("*P3DT1M*") and assigning it to my first human task definition. In this case, whenever the workflow is assigned to my last human task it is also showing Expiry date as of after 3 days. What is the issue here? Please help.

    I have found the solution to this generic problem. Whenever you have a human task sharing task history in your workflow, you need to ensure that the changed/modified payload value is assigned to the human tasks properly. In most of the cases, Task history sharing Human Task will override the payload values with the payload values of the previously executed human task in the workflow.
    For that the fix is as below:
    1. Expand the Human Task.
    2. In the Assign activity, write a copy operation in which copy the changed individual payload variable to the payload variable of the Human task whose task history we are sharing.
    For e.g.
    <copy>
    <from variable="inputVariable"
    part="payload"
    query="/client:TravelRequestProcessRequest/client:ExpiryDays"/>
    <to variable="ApprovalsTask_1_globalVariable"
    part="payload"
    query="/task:task/task:payload//client:TravelRequestProcessRequest/client:ExpiryDays"/>
    </copy>
    3. Make this copy operation as the first operation in the Assign Activity.
    I hope this solution will help you to resolve your issues.

  • SelectionFailure in human task

    Hi,
    I'm trying to work with Master detail objects and using them as the human task parameters so that I can create rules on these collection objects.
    Now when in this human task when I'm creating a repeating stage using the child collection object, I'm getting the following exception:-

  • In human task, dynamically assign group doesn't work

    Oracle SOA 11.1.1.4
    My bpel process invokes a human task.
    On the human task Assignment tab, I assigned 3 users (by name), 1 group (by expression).
    The group is configured in LDAP
    When I tested the bpel process, I entered the group and other data required.
    From the worklist app, I see the task listed. It is assigned to the 3 users, but not the dynamically passed-in group.
    From the Audit trail, I saw all data I entered (include the group). Everything seems correct, but I still can’t make the dynamically-pass-group work.
    If I assign the group by name in human task, it works fine.
    The problem is: dynamically assign group doesn't work.
    Please kindly advice.

    Yes, it is possible assign a group as participant of some human task, passing the group name as parameter.
    I have tested just now.
    It works pretty well in SOA 11.1.1.4 (BPEL or BPM).
    Make sure add a data parameter in your human task definition and pass a valid group name to it.
    At the Assignment tab, in the participants' list, add a group, data type by expression, and set the value to the right xpath expression to the corresponding parameter.
    For example: /task:task/task:payload/task:group
    If it is not working look the SOA log files, probably you'll find some information about the error there. Maybe there is some problem with your jazn.com configuration.
    You can also test if there is something wrong related to the group name, trying to transfer some task to the same group by the worklist.

  • Human tasks, complex types and variable assignment.

    Hi folks,
    I encountered a problem while working with 10.1.3.1 which I haven't managed to solve yet and would be grateful for assistance. I have defined a complex data type (just a sequence of strings) and want to fill that data type by going through a flow of screens, e.g. through several human tasks. I have defined that type as a variable to the BPEL process and have managed to assign simple expressions to the variable and pass that into a Human Task. In the task I see now a simple input form for all attributes of the type.
    Now the problem. After I fill out the form and complete the human task, I have
    The global variable:
    <outputVariable>
         <part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="payload">
              <MyProcessResponse xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/VacationRequest">
                   <vorname/>
                   <nachname/>
                   <strasse/>
                   <nummer/>
                   <postleitzahl/>
                   <stadt/>
                   <maximaleDauer/>
                   <minimaleDauer/>
              </MyProcessResponse>
         </part>
    </outputVariable>
    and the return value from the human task:
    <task>
         <title>CaptureData</title>-
              <payload>
                   <MyProcessResponse>
                        <vorname>David</vorname>
                        <nachname>Beckham</nachname>
                        <strasse>HighStreet</strasse>
                        <nummer/>
                        <postleitzahl/>

                        <minimaleDauer/>
                   </MyProcessResponse>
              </payload>
    </task>
    Now the only thing I would like to do is to replace the original values in the variable with the new values that have been returned from the task, this should be performed in an extra assign step. Sounds simple. JDeveloper wouldn't even let me klick through the return value from the HumanTask, so it seems as if I have to do things manually.
    These are my tries:
    Command 1:
    <copy>
         <from variable="CaptureData_1_globalVariable"
    part="payload" query="/task:task/task:payload" />
    <to variable="outputVariable" part="payload"

    </copy>
    Result 3:
    --> Task does't return (!!!). In the BPEL Worklist, the task is completed, however in the BPEL console it still apears as "waiting to return from Human task".
    Does anyone have a hint on how to copy the values so that I get exactly the structure that I printed at the very top?
    Thanks for help. Rock On !

    Hello everyone,
    It seems that we are talking about different things, I am afraid. Let me describe the scenario once again:
    - I want to have a BPEL process with more than one role involved
    - This process should be used to gather some complex data.
    - All data gathering should be done through HumanTasks.
    So I defined an xsd complex type, that contains a sequence of fields. This complex type should be part of the process payload.
    Now before HumanTask 1 is called, I copy the contents of this variable into the input for tasks1. This works fine and I see the appropriate values, when opening the Human Task in the BPEL worklist application.
    Now after HumanTask1 is completed, the values I entered inside that tasks are returned as a variable from the HumanTask. My problem is, that I cannot copy the contents of the task back into the main process. With simpleTypes this is relatively ok, since Jdev supports the assembling of the copy operation, however for complex tasks it fails.
    A typical scenario for this would be where e.g. a customer fills a shipping address and afterwards a store staff fills product details in the same order. In Java this could be solved via "pass by reference". Who can provide an example?

  • How to Assign The request when Initiation

    Hi all
    My BPM Project contains of 2 roles and 3 users..
    Roles are : Initiator , and Supervisor
    init1 user belongs to Initiator role
    sup1,+sup2+ belong to Supervisor role
    init1 user must specify to which supervisor participant *(sup1,sup2)* when creating the request
    The default implementation of Oracle Workspace is when the request sent and the supervisor login then there is no participant selected
    so, How can I specify to which supervisor the request should sent?
    Thanks

    In the assignment tab for the supervisor task you can change the Participant List configuration to specify a specific user (or list of comma separated user names) rather than the default swimlane assignment that uses the bpm:getPerformer() function. You'll have to capture the assigned user as an editable property of the payload value in the initiator task. Then pass that value to the supervisor's task (via that task's payload) and reference the userid in the expression to build the participant list. The participant type will be User, and the value will be an xpath into the payload where the supervisor's userid is found.

  • Assign the next human task to the specific participant??

    If my process has two swam, the first swan has a Script Task, and the second swan has a human task. If I want the script task to update the participant for the next human task who will belong to the role, how can I do it? Can I do it on the over the xpath? Because each human task should belong to one of the specific people in the role to handle, I don't want to show it to all people who belong to same role in the workspace.

    In BPM 11g you can use xpath expression to assign users, groups, or roles. See this section in the docs:
