Assigning NULL to Date typed UDF
Hi all,
i have question about how to assign empty date or null to
a userdefinedfield of usertable.
oUserTable.UserFields.Fields.Item("U_Date").Value = Now.ToShortDateString()
the code above is how i usually assign date, but anyone knows how to set oUserTable.UserFields.Fields.Item("U_Date").Value to a blank date or null value?
regards,
erwine
Best way it not to set is at all... that gives null...
If oyu for some reason are unable to to this, try using DateTime.MinValue

Using FIFO as sql code for assigning indicator to data items
Hi All,
We are looking for a solution based on FIFO algorithm. We have a table having following data:
We need to perform FIFO on this table, and assign "object" as data items to other rows based on following conditions:
1. first we have to group the rows based on "object" column
2. then we have to traverse each group from the row having minimum start time of the object group e.g: row id 1 for object group for "19O"
2.1 Assign a "EqpREf" as "object" + <an integer value> , where integer value changes when the start and end chain finishes. Start -end chain is explained in step 2.2
2.2 then we have to pick the "nextstarttime" of the picked row and compare it against the closest "starttime" of the rows having "start" as same as "end" of the same row we are
picking for "nextstarttime" e.g: row id 2 of object 19O is having "nextstarttime" 0310 closest to "starttime" 0355 of row id 2 of object 19O , and rowid 2 is having "start" AAL which is similar to "end" of
rowid 1
2.3 We have to perform this chain till we find end of same and allocate each row in a chain same "Eqpref"
hence the output we need to generate will come as:
Kindly help on same.
Thanks in advance

What we are doing here is generating a schedule for Trains departures.
here, we should identify the train schedules making a chain of stations considering the endstation of a train engine no should be startstation of another record for same engineno. also the starttime of engineno should be nearest of nextstarttime
of same station.
for example : if we pick Ist row "SGC-IXP", nextstarttime for same is "02:00:00 am". this means train departed from SGC will reach to IXP and is available for departure from IXP after "02:00:00 am". So we have to consider
the record having startstation as IXP and nearest starttime to nextstarttime ("02:00:00"). So the next train departure would be IXP-DFW having starttime as "03:30:00 am".
here you can see we have to assign the scheduleno of previously considered record to the chained schedule so we have updated the "schedule_ref" as 101. Also we have to assign the engine no - <counter of integer> to a single chain on schedule
given in engine_ref.

We are working with the beta release 3.0c of Forte and 2.0c of express. We
have several DateTime domain fields for which we need to have nulls carried
through and updated on the data base. Ideally when the user selects the
insert button and the new record is initialized we would like to place
nulls in those fields before the display and then have those nulls
maintained through the data base update. If the user keys a valid date in
one or more of those fields then the non-null date values would be carried.
Conversely, if a date is present we would like to be able to have the user
delete the date field resulting in nulls being carried forward.
We have made several attempts to null these date fields
(PlaceValueInDisplayField, SetValuesInNewRecord, overriding the
InsertRecordIntoResultSet method, overriding the newobject method) with no
success.
Has anyone been successful in nulling date fields? Thanks.Donald R. Smith wrote:

1. Create a new domain class say, NewDateTimeNullable which superclass
is DateTimeNullable.
2. At the NewDateTimeNullable Init() method, do Self.IsNull = TRUE this
will set the initial value to null.
Ideally when the user selects the insert button and the new record is initialized we would like to
place nulls in those fields before the display and then have those nulls maintained through the data

would like to behave like you mention above, change the data type to
NewDateTimeNullable.

- If Variable.IsNull then
else If Variable.IsEqual('') then
Variable.IsNull = TRUE;

Hello All,
We are using a two tier architecture.
Our Corp server calls the refinery server.
Our CORP MII server uses user id abc_user to connect to the refinery data server.
The user id abc_user has the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role.
The data server also has the checkbox for allow dynamic query enabled.
But we are still getting the following error
Error has occurred while processing data stream
Dynamic Query role is not assigned to the Data Server; Use query template
Once we add the SAP_xMII_Dynamic_Query role to the data server everything works fine. Is this feature by design ?

I thought that just adding the role to the user and enabling the dynamic query checkbox on the data server should work.
But we even needed to add the role to the data server.

Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign NULL to host variable 1
Hello!
I have the following issue:
Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign NULL to host variable 1. setNull() can only be used if the corresponding column is nullable. The statement is "INSERT INTO "VIRSA_... (see log for details)
Note 1362138 - Rule generation - null pointer exception virsa_cc_rtmap doesn't me. After uploading files of ZCC_DOWNLOAD_SAPOBJ and ZCC_DOWNLOAD_DESC I got the same problem during job running...
How can I find out where is the problem?Hi
That looks like your fields are disabled but they could still be causing the problem edited ( nah - talking rubbish as you've put dummy " " in there) edited - the 'null' error caused many background jobs to fail but, once we had the evidence to show the space (somebody had pressed enter instead of delete/backspace to clear the entry) it stopped the problem - just a bit of learning on the job which we all go through for the GRC chaps in KL.
A " " would be valid but a (I know you can't see it but it's there wouldn't be )
edited. When you did an edit/replace did it say it had replaced anything please?edited
The word doc option does sound good!
Cheers

GL assignment for future date?
Hi everybody,
We have an issue is as follows:
- We have created a sales order for 08-09-2008
- We have created PO for 08-09-2008, here system will able to post everything fine.
- Again we are creating one more PO for 08-09-2009, here system threws error message like GL a/c needs cost assignment.
My question is why system is asking assignment for future date only and why system is not asking assignment for current date?
Looking forward your best thoughts
regards
vkHi Raj,
Thanks for your reply
Yes, we have assigned only cost element in TC: OKB9. But, for that cost element we have created 2 analysis periods.
- GL 100115 01.01.2008 to 31.12.2008
- GL 100115 01.01.2009 to 31.12.9999
I think validity period is perfect still system threws error message like gl acc needs cost object assign.
regards

Acrobat 9 pro. Letting people save data typed in Reader
I am evaluated Acrobat 9 pro for purchase. One of the key features I am looking for is create a form and letting people save data typed in in Aobe Reader.
I looked and tried all the different security features and can't seem to be able to do it.The whole concept of forms with Acrobat is that you have the ability to save, as does anyone else with Acrobat. Those with Reader have the ability to fill out the form, print it, and submit data, but the saving is an additional feature that Adobe charges for. Starting with AA8 (I think that was the first), Adobe started allowing up to 500 copies to be saved with User Rights, an option in Acrobat. However, if you exceed the 500, then the idea is that you need to be paying for that additional feature. I am not arguing for or against this model, but this is the current deal.
With AA9, I think that some of the options might have changes and the license restrictions might be different. The information should be in either the HELP file or the EULA. -
Hi folks,
There's probably a million questions like this one but I can't concentrate enough right now to try to go through everything.
I made a list in Excel, exported it as a PDF.
Opened in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro.
Went through the Start Form Wizard, all worked nicely, put all my check boxes and fields in where I wanted.
Save it - and then open it in Adobe Reader.
"You cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records."
After some careful googling, I discover to be able to make a form that is savable, I need Adobe LiveCycle. So I scout around on my work computer and discover I do in fact have LiveCyle Designer ES 8.2.
Now what? I do not know what I'm meant to tick in this program to make my PDF savable by other people.
I appreciate your time and patience! Hopefully it's a super easy question and that I feel like an idiot for asking
Kind regards,
--SashaHi Sasha,
Using Acrobat, you can create forms that are called AcroForms. The forms created in LC Designer are called XFA (XML Forms Architecture) and are more data centric. While both will open in Acrobat, they are completely different animals.
The issue with users not being able to save the data with Reader is that the form is not Reader Enabled. You can Reader Enable a form using one of two methods:
Reader Enable the form using Acrobat Professional (V8 or below) or Acrobat Standard (V9 or above). Note there are licensing restrictions.
Reader Enable the form using the full server product Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions ES2.5. This involves additional licensing fees.
Have a look here: http://assure.ly/etkFNU, at the features that are available depending on whether the user has Acrobat or Reader; if the form is Reader Enabled; and how the form was Reader Enabled.
The issue of Reader Enabling would also apply to AcroForms.
I don't think that you need to dive into LC Designer just yet, as forms created in LC Designer face the same issues about Reader Enabling as forms developed in Acrobat.
If your usage complies with the EULA, then you could Reader Enable your form in Acrobat.
Hope that helps,

Use condition for assigning query to data provider with Javascript
Hi gurus,
I want to assign a query dynamically to a data provider when the user activated a Tab Panel in a Web Template (BI7).
I can do that easily with the standard function SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS but this action is do each time of the activation of the Tab Panel.
So I try to make a javascript for assign the query to the data provider only one time.
My problem is I havenu2019t found a solution to get the default query assigning to the data provider.
Itu2019s an example of what I try to do with javascipt :
function Load_Query()
var r=GET_DATA_PROVIDER PARAMETER ("QUERYVIEW_DATA_PROVIDER")
if (r <>empty)
executeJS_SET_DATA_PROVIDER_PARAMETERS_R()
Thank you for help,
FranckHi Janice,
You can check the Option Display Variable values only once.
Thie you will the variables being displayed only once eventhough they are used in Multiple Data provider.
If you want som variable to be data provider specific, then , you can create a new variable and add it int eh query.
For example in your case let us say COMP1 is the variable for company code used in DP1 and DP2.
If you want a different values to be selected for company code in DP1 and DP2 just replce the variable in DP2 with a new variabel COMP2.
Hope this helps.

Use of Assignment tab in Data Manager
Hi,
Can someone give me some real time example of using Assignment tab in data manager and what is the need of assignment.
In Data manager guide it's written that : "Instead of retuning boolean value, we can use any data type and we can assign this value to user editable field" ... Can some one explain me with example?
I also want to know "Is it possible to define assigment in Data Manager and on the basis of users i can assign this assigments with the help of workflow?
Thanks in advance,

Ronak GajjarAssignments provide users a convenient way to fill in fields.
You can set values for a certain field using the "Assignment" workflow step.
Eg: Approval Status
You can set the value for the field "Approval Status" based on certain other fields.
Several assignments for the same field can be defined.
Assignments are selected during runtime to calcualte the field value.
You have to be in Record mode to create Assignments.
Select the table for which you want to define the assignment.
The assignment is later bound to this table which is unchangeable.
Hope this helps. -

Assigning today's date to process flow start actvity
Hi,
I am trying to assign today's date to my process flow which will be used as a common load date for multiple transformations within the process flow. I'm at a loss on how to do this. Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksYou can add variable to the start acitivity or create stand alone variable(global for Process Flow) in the left side panel (where you see selected objects/events) and give the value of the variable as sysdate. Make sure the Literal property is set to false meaning it is not literally SYSDATE but the value of sysdate.
It worked for me.
