Associated Dimension in Detail Variable Disappears

Hi there,
Verion: BOBJ 4.1 SPS2.
When creating a DETAIL VARIABLE on a report with MULTIPLE QUERIES which has MERGED OBJECTS the associated dimension is accepted but then is missing when you reopen the variable. Also, when I use the variable it works like a regular dimension field off of the query (reacts as a full join, not a left join).
Note: The UNIT is the only thing these 2 queries have in common.

As per the below Sap notes similar issues are resolved in the BI 4.1 SP02.
Have a look on attached SAP Notes.Better to rasie a tictet with SAP support team to know if this issue is resolved or not.

Dimension vs Detail Universe objects

What are the pros and cons of creating Dimension vs Detail Universe objects?
We have created our Universes with both types to logically group some dimension objects with details that can only be one value of it's associated dimension object. We have found that in Webi, Detail objects cannot be merged where two or more queries are written. We are on XIR2 SP2 and are planning to upgrade to XI 3.0 soon. Are any issues resolved in XI 3.0?

Thanks for the helpful reply. If I could as an example, we have several instances where we have defined dates as dimension objects in a universe. Of course a date can have many detail attributes and for these we created them as attributes under the date dimension. So for dimension Month_End_Date we have attributes such as Month_End_Date_Year or Month_End_Date_Quarter; and as mentioned we cannot merge on these attributes. Perhaps one persons dimension is anotheru2019s attribute; potato, potahto. While still somewhat of a newbie with Business Objects it just seems that merging of attributes should be allowed.

Need to pull the information from two facts and associated dimensions

HI All, i need to pull all the columns from the two Facts and their associated dimensions, get the results.
here is the example:
Fact1 --> D1, D2, D3
FACT2--> DA, DB, DC, D1
D1 Dimension has a Join with two fact tables, as long as i'm using columns from D1 and FACT2, DA, DB, DC report works.
but my requirement is to get the results when pulling the columns from all the dimensions and two facts like Fact1, FACT2, D1, D2, D3, DA, DB, DC
how to achieve this requirement, can someone pls help me with this.

Hi RAR,
I assume you have created proper dimensional hierarchies for all the dimensions in your subject area. Also, ensure that all of them have a Total Level created.
Assuming the above, since D1 is a conformed dimension, if you create a report having columns from only D1,Fact1 and Fact2, the report should show you proper results.
For creating a report having columns from all tables, ensure the following:
1. For all measure columns from Fact1 to be included in the report, set them to be calculated at the Total Level of dimensions DA, DB and DC
2. For all measure columns from Fact2 to be included in the report, set them to be calculated at the Total Level of dimensions D2 and D3
The physical sql will fire separate queries for the 2 star schemas and then join them using the conformed dimension.

Please Help Session variables disappear

Hi. I am having issues with the developer's version of CF MX
7. I recently set up the developer's version on a test server, and
moved over code from a properly working site using MX 6. I have an
application.cfm file set will the correct <cfapplication> tag
attributes, and the session management is set in the CF admin. When
working on MX 6 the session variables I set were working. Now using
MX 7 none of my sessions are holding. When I first login the
sessions exist, if I click any other page, the variables disappear.
Again, this does not happen on MX 6.

Having to recreate all detail variables to measure variables

Why am I having to recreate all my variables to a measure variable in order for them to show in my table? (New to WEBI)

I assume you have multiple queries in your report. Have you merged common dimensions between your two queries? If you merge on enough common objects you should be able to use other objects from you queries with each other.
However you may still get synchronisation errors, if so you will need to do what you are doing and create them as measures, or define them as a detail of a merged dimension.

SSM - more than 12 dimensions , cannot import variables into PAS database

I am trying to configure a pilot implimentation of SSM 7.0. This is really a case of learning while moving forward. Based on the success of the pilot management will decide whether we buy SSM.
I have import all the Dimensions (characteristics) of an Infocube into a database in PAS.
Now I am trying to import Variables (key figures)
Unfortunately I am unable to progress as it keep telling me:
Schema> IMP VAR * FORCE
VAR224:
Variables May Only Have 12 Dimensions
Any advice on how to progress? We cannot change the Infocubes. How can we get pass this limitation? Hopefully this issue is not a deal buster...

Hi Adriaan,
Normally when you are accessing an InfoCube to load data using the BI Connector in PAS, what you would reference would be a Query, not the InfoCube directly. Because of restrictions of the PAS engine, each measure (key figure) can be associated with at most 12 dimensions (characteristics or hierarchies). As InfoCube typically contain significant numbers of characteristics and key figures, the only of restricting this is to create a Query and use that as the source for the data in PAS.
There is a Best Practice published which discusses some suggestions of doing this [which you can see here|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/701b8da0-3135-2b10-929d-936e43164b06]. I will also look and see if there is other published documentation or recommendations on this.

Scroll bar of Detail table disappears after clicking on other Detail table.

I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.0.2 and JHeadstart 11g TP1.
I have 1 master table with 3 detail tables.
Master table: Layout style = Table-form --> inline, Stack Groups on same page = Detail Groups Only (Tabbed)
Detail tables: Layout style = Table-form --> inline, Same Page = Yes, Below Parent Group
If I click on my first Detail table (which has a lot of columns) I see a horizontal scrollbar. Then I click on the other tabs. But when I go back to the first tab the horizontal scrollbar has disappeared so I cannot see the last columns.
How can I solve this problem?

Can you upgrade to the latest TP2 version that can be downloaded from cso.oracle.com and see whether the problem is still there?

I transferred my project to another computer. For some reason all the linking capability disappeared. I used to be able to option click on a function or a variable and it would take me to the origin of the function / variable where it is defined...
Any idea where I can reenable this?

SSAS Cube Measures will not display for all associated dimensions in Excel client

Dear All,
Can you please clarify the below query to me?
I have one Calculated Member CM1 and the expression used to calculate is:
([Dimension1].[HierarchyName1].CURRENTMEMBER.Prevmember,[Measures].[Amount]) associated to a Measure Group MG1.
Dimension1 is having two Hierarchies HierarchyName1 and HierarchyName2.
Measure CM1 is used to Calculate another calculated Member CM2 along with other Non Calculated measures and associated to the same Measure Group MG1.
And the Measure Group MG1 is linked to other dimensions, Dimension2 and dimension3 as well.
When I query the cube in Excel Client for the measure CM2, values appears only when the dimension Dimension1.HierarchyName1 is used to view the results.
And values do not appear:
When I do not use any dimensions (Only CM2 used to display in the excel)
When I use Other dimensions linked i.e. Dimension2 and dimension3
And Also does not display any values if the CM2 is used along with other hierarchy of same dimension1 i.e. HierarchyName2
I don understand this concept OR Is this the concept how the tuples work in SSAS MDX?
If a Calculated measure is created using a one of Dimension member, cannot we view that measure value along with other dimensions linked or when we do not use any dimension to view the results in excel?
Can you please help me to understand this.

As you explained CM2 depends on CM1.
The dependency for CM1 is "[Dimension1].[HierarchyName1].CURRENTMEMBER.Prevmember".
So to get value for CM1 you need to bring HierarcyName1.
So for CM2 also HierarcyName1
has to be used only then the data will be visible. When HierarcyName1 is used you can play with
the combinations of other dimension as well .

Error when I open "Mantein Dimension Property" - object variable

I got the following error when I open the Mantein Dimension Property in the BPC Administration panel:
"object variable or with variable not set"
I am using SAP BPC 5.1 SP3 on Win2003 and MSSQL 2005 Enterprise.

Usually, this error is comming from a wrong client installation or from a client which is not syncronized with the server version. Can you please check this?
You can just try to reinstall the Admin client component (very fast) to see if this is solving your issue.

The image on the icon associated with my shortcut keeps disappearing. The shortcut still works.

The Firefox image associated with the shortcut I have pinned to the taskbar has disappeared. The shortcut still works but the image is gone. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 5.0. This worked, but after a few days the image disappeared again.

Nope. under security you can set an administrator password, and under accounts, you can set up a guest account and limit the things that person can access. as for computer access, again, it depends on the privileges you choose as creator of the guest account.

BPMON Alerts "Detail info" disappeared in SP10-11

Hi BPMON Experts,
we have upgraded SOLMAN from SP08 to SP11 (skipping SP10).
We have already had BPMON and Analytics setup in SP08.
Now finding out that in SP11the "Detail Info" and SP13 buttons in Alert Inbox completely disappeared.
Reading TECHED mats from last year, it sais that BPMON alert details are not integrated in SP10.
However SAP recommends for users with old BPMON settings to still use OLD BPO workcenter to realize full functionality..
But without detail info button - there is not much use for it.
Is anyone else experiencing same problem ?

I wonder whether you use MAI based BPMon (BPMon on new monitoring infrastructure) or use classic one... If the BPMon and BP Analytics setting were made when SP was SP8, I assume it is Classic one.
Anyway, let me clarify some points.
As you know from Teched replay, as of Solution Manager 7.1 SP10, BPMon offer new BPMon that based on monitoring alert infrastructure (MAI). But this does not means, after the SP10, your existing BPMon or BP Analytics setting runs on new MAI infra. Without switching on the MAI, your solution still run on Old infrastructure (I will use classic BPMon engine here).
Since all the BPMon cases are not covered yet in SP10/SP11 and also conversion tool from classic BPMon to MAI BPMon is not available in SP10/SP11, using Classic BPMon is still recommended.
So if you simply update SolMan SP from SP8 to 11, your BPMon and BP Analytics Monitors still run classic BPMon infra. Here basically everything should be same.
So I bit suprise you have some issue (detail info is not available, ST13<?> button is nto avaialble)...
In my understanding, there should not be the issue if you still run classic BPMon infra.
So if this is the case, I recommend you to check your monitor setting. If you update ST-A/PI in managed system during SP11 upgrade, I recommend you to conduct following to get latest repository.
1. Go to BPMon setup and chose your logical component area. And conduct load monitor definition.
By pressing this, latest monitor definition is loaded from managed system to SolMan.
2.To refrect the latest repository content, go to logical componet and choose all monitor and de-activate ->Generate->Activate existing monitors.
For ST13 button, I recommend you to check your monitor setting (analysis tool tab). If not T-CD/Program assigned to your monitor, the button is not avaialble in alert inbox. So you need to assign the T-CD /Program that you want to see in alert inbx in analysis tool tab of your monitor.
If your case, is not based on classic BPMon (You newly create solution and switch on MAI setting to your Solution as attached picture), I recommend you to chck new Alert Inbox and open detail info.
As of SP10, you can control classic / MAI BPMon per solution (but if there is existing monitor, you cannot switch. So you need conversion tool that is planned SP12 probably).
In MAI based BPMon, there is BPO workcenter. And it offer a bit different alert inbox.
In new MAI based Alert inbox, to use detail info button, you need to press show detail button.
(like technical monitoring, new alert inbox support grouping etc.. so to see detail info, you need to go into 1 more detail level).
In detail display, detail info should be still avaialble like attached picture (but now it is http based. not GUI base).
So even the new BPMon, detail info still should be avaialble. Also you should be able to call transaction/program like you could do before. (actually in new infra, it can do more).
I think in the teched replay, it might says "BPMon BW Alert report is not supported yet" in new BPMon....

Session Variables Disappearing

This issue of disappearing session variables keeps coming up
again and again. I am reading about session variables work from
Adobe site and it say this

the site all must be located within a single directory on the web
server.
Information stored in session
variables is site visitor specific. Different site visitors cannot
access each other's session variable information.
My question is this (about the highlighted). since my
application.cfm is located in the root directory and the session
variables are set from different directories under the root, will
this be the problem? Users login into the site from the members
directory and the sessions for that user are set after successful
login. when the user tries any other link from a different
directory the session disappears. Is this a recurring problem with
CFMX (6.1)or am I the only one experiencing this. I wish someone
from ADOBE should also respond to this.

The session variables are good for the entire application.
And the application is defined as any file at the same level or
beneath the application.cfm. If you are trying to access files that
do not fall under or at the same level as application.cfm then your
session variables would be invalid.

Clearing out detail variables at group break time

I am trying to write a report which has three group levels: District(Final), Bank, Branch, and Account Number.
(1) Summary figures are being printed out on the Final, Bank, and Branch Levels.
(2) The title for each page contains the District, Bank, and Branch numbers and Names.
Issue:
(1) I do not want the Branch number and Name printed out on the Bank total Page. Currently it is printing out the last Branch # and Branch Name on the Bank total page.
(2) How do I surpress the printing of the Last Branch Name and # on the Bank Totals Page. They are currently Variables.

Go in Design Tab then remove the names from Goop Header or Footer wheverever you don't like the names to be printed.

Use of session variables disappeared

Hi - I have a really old CF site that has worked perfectly all these years.
Sometime over the past 7 days, my all of my session variables have ceased to work.
These session variables appear on the pages where I set them up, but the minute I transfer to a new page, they are completely gone. They do not appear in the debug information at all.
I think that there has been some change in CF Server 8, but my system administrator says that he did not change any settings. (If he had, what would it be? I don't have admin access.)
Like I said, they worked perfectly until very recently and luckily, I don't use a load of them.
If push comes to shove, I can use cookies, but I really don't want to sit through an evening of debugging.
What do you think went wrong?
