Associative Array problem in Oracle Procedure

Hi,
I've searched through the internet and this forum and haven't been able to resolve a problem using associative array values within an IN clause. Everything I've read states that I can't use the associative array directly in the SQL statement. I have to convert it to a table and then I can use it. Unfortunately, I'm receiving an "ORA-21700: object does not exist or is marked for delete" error when trying to access the table I've populated from the array. Please note that I have verified the table is actually being populated during the loop. I'm catching the error when referencing it in the SELECT statement.
I've declared the following in the ARCHIVE package specification:

Thank you for the quick response. I looked at the example you suggested and made the following changes. Now I'm receiving an "Invalid datatype" error on the "SELECT column_value FROM TABLE(CAST(tbl_cat AS tbl_integer))" statement. I must be missing something simple and I just can't put my finger on it.

    The error comes at line one, PLS-00905- object PARTIES_RESULT is invalid.
    i have used the create type thing to create this type.
    if i remove the out parameter it works, no compilation error.
    Questions i) How to return the associative array as out parameter?
    ii)Am i doing aynthing qrong here?
    iii) Can i open a ref cursor to this associative array and then return that ref_cursor?

  • Multiple record insert problem in Oracle Procedure that uses a cursor

    Dear X-pert guies,
    I have a oracle procedure that use a cursor, I repeatedly make query on 1st table using cursor value and insert that queried value(of 1st table) to 2nd table
    y_summary. y_summary has composite  primary key :PK_Y_SUM (BILL_DATE, TRUNK_MGR, IDD_FLAG, PK_FLAG, PREFIX).*
    when i run the procedure explicit2('201001'); the it gives me the error:::: begin explicit2('201001'); end;_
    ORA-00001: unique constraint (PRM.PK_Y_SUM) violated_
    ORA-06512: at "PRM.EXPLICIT2", line 413_
    ORA-06512: at line 1_
    but when i remove the composite primary key from y_summary table then, the procedure runs ok and make so many duplicate entries in y_summary.
    but i want the single record  to be inserted for single time in y_summary ,so You guies are honorly requested to make the required help .

    1. I have Tested my SQL statements manually in SQL*Plus. this runs ok
    2. "Cursor loops, such as the one you have coded here, have been obsolete in Oracle since version 8i 12+ years ago.
    Look up BULK COLLECT and FORALL in the docs and use them instead."
    I am trying to make use of the BULK COLLECT and FORALL statement in proper location.

    is there any problem if default is used..? if any suggestion........pls

    My aim is to make query to Table A using the cursor value like( '4422','442','4411','441','44') and get some data in accordance of these values.Then i put the data into another Table B. same time i need to delete the record from Table A containing the prefix value in accordance for example- i compute value for '4422' from Table A and put the computed value to Table B .Then i delete the record from Table A where prefix is '4422' .so that computed value for the next prefix '442' should contain the computed value for 442[0-1] and 442[3-9] .Same way it will be happened for ('4411','441','44'....bla...bla).

  • Retriving an Array from an Oracle Procedure in Java

    I have a procedure in Oracle which returns an VARRAY of VARCHAR2
    I am Unable to get the Array back in the Servlet in my Application.....
    I have tried this using normal thin driver and couldn't succed....
    So I have tried with OCI driver then also i was unble to get the Array.
    I have used ojdbc14.jar for OCI connection

  • Associative Array (Object) problems

    Here is the function i'm dealing with
    i'm reading in a delimited string and using indexed arrays to
    break them up and assign the keys and values to an associative
    array in a loop.
    i'm using variables in the loop and the array loads as
    expected in the loop
    but outside the loop, the only key is the variable name and
    the value is undefined
    this is true using dot or array notation, as well as literal
    strings for the keys

    on lines 12-13 i assign the key=value pair to string
    variables
    then on lines 17-18 i assign those values to the associative
    array using dot notation
    the trace seems to work there
    the problem is that when the procedure exits the for loop,
    the associative array only has one key (myKey) and no value
    (undefined)
    all the documentation i've read shows using these types of
    arrays with either non-quoted property names like:
    myAssocArray.myKey = "somevalue";
    or
    myAssocArray[myKey] = "somevalue";
    i tried assigning the key/value pairs directly from the
    indexed arrays, but the result was always undefined
    like this:
    suspendDataArray.keyValArray[0] = keyValArray[1]
    or
    suspendDataArray[keyValArray[0]] = keyValArray[1]
    i even tried building a string in the loop and trying to
    assign all the pairs at once using the curly brace
    this is pretty wierd behavior for actionscript or i'm missing
    something basic here

  • Problem in XML Parsing via oracle procedure...

    Hi,
    I wrote one oracle procedure for xml parsing.
    I have one valid xml file which has "encode UTF-8". The XML file contains some comments also. While we are parsing the xml file at that time it is not parse successfully and also it is not giving any error. After the following line it is skip rest of the codes(lines).
    dbms_xmlparser.parseclob(l_parser, l_clob);
    At the end of the xml file there are some comments which is like "<!-- abc --> ".
    When I am changing the "encode UTF-8 to ISO-88596-1" & removing the comments which wrote on bottom of the file then its working fine, but the files which we are getting from the system is contains the encode UTF-8 and we don't want to preprocess on that xml files. Even if we will do that via shell script or perl script then it will be overhead to the system and in a single stroke our system will parse more than 5k xml files, so if we will do some preprocess on it, it will take some more time approx 1-2 minutes extra.
    So, If someone knows any solution of this problem, then please guide & help me on this.

    our Oracle Database version is "10.2.0.4.0"
    The structure of target table Instrument_Details is as follows:

    provider_name contains the child2 xml tag value.
    version_number contains the child1 xml tag value.
    location_id contains the newid/id value which is map to other table which fetching the location name corresponding to the location_id.
    installation_date contains the date xml tag value.
    Now we have created one mapping tables where we mapped the xml tag values "mt" with table column name means "abc1 = granularity", "abc2 = time_out" in that table.
    these table column value are written under mvalue xml tag.

    I'm new to PL/SQL development really, although i have some limited knowledge that i've relied on for the last couple of years to get by. Anyway, i'll try my best to describe my problem and how i'd like to solution it ...........
    I have a table of information that holds a column for decscriptive names of payments and another column holding a difference value, for example :
    employee_number | payment_name | difference
    00001           | salary       | 200.20
    00001           | shift        | 20.21
    00002           | salary       | 10.01
    00002           | shift        | 5.02
    00003           | salary       | 15.02
    00003           | shift        | 4.00I'd like to manipulate the way this data is presented, via DBMS_OUTPUT in a summary fashion counting the number of differences between ranges, for example :
    payment_name | 0.00 to 10.00 | 10.01 to 100.00 | 100.01 to 99999.99
    salary       |               | 2               | 1
    shift        | 2             | 1               |I thought it might be possible to use an approach in PL/SQL to mimic this table structure and populate it via a cursor looping through my initial recordset and posting the total count in the associated columns as required. Once the cursor had finished populating the PL/SQL table / array etc i could base my DBMS_OUTPUT on this data.
    Or am i completely barking up the wrong tree, would there be a better, more efficient way to solution the problem. I've been reading up on PL/SQL Collections http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B10501_01/appdev.920/a96624/05_colls.htm#19661 but can't really determine is this is a) the correct approach or b) should i try using an associative array, nested table or varray?

    It sounds like you can just pivot the data
    SELECT payment_name,
           SUM( CASE WHEN difference BETWEEN 0 and 10 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END ) "0.00 to 10.00",
           SUM( CASE WHEN difference BETWEEN 10.01 and 100 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END ) "10.01 to 100.00",
           SUM( CASE WHEN difference BETWEEN 100.01 and 99999.99 THEN 1 ELSE 0 END ) "100.01 to 99999.99"
      FROM table_name
    GROUP BY payment_nameYou can then do whatever you want with the data this query returns.

    Here is my code:

    I understand that oracle.sql.ARRAY has been replaced by weblogic.jdbc.vendor.oracle.OracleArray in Weblogic.
    MY QUESTION IS: HOW DO I INSERT MY STRING ARRAY INTO THE OracleArray and pass it to the plsql.

    Try this if you are at weblogic 8.1:
    Connection con = getConnectionFromDataSource();
    Connection vendorConnection = ((WLConnection)con).getVendorConnection();
    // use direct oracle connection.
    ArrayDescriptor descriptor = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor( "TEST_PAC_1.TEST_COLL_2", dbConnection );
    vendorConnection.close();
    Beware that you should be very careful as you are going to use a direct vendor
    connection.
    The better aproach is to pass the string array as a delimited string to your storad
    procedure and parse it in the SP - then you don't have to mess up with vendor-specific
    handling.
