Fixed: Rebooting an appliance without a proper shutdown sometimes caused irreparable damage to the appliance. This is fixed. [Defect ID: 73467]
Fixed: Processing client requests sometimes took too long after updating new anti-malware rules. This is fixed. [Defect ID: 81055]
Fixed: Overloading webroot made the WSA unusably slow. This is fixed. [Defect ID: 81661]
Fixed: With Safe Search enabled, for URLs that included a question mark (?) in the first position after the domain name, for example, "example.com/?abc", transaction requests were resulting in an HTTP 404 error message. This is fixed. [Defect ID: 83666]

  • AsyncOS 6.3.1-028 for Web is GA

    Hi,
Cisco is pleased to announce a maintenance release of AsyncOS 6.3.1-028 for Web to all customers (GA).
This release applies to all our Web Security Appliances (S-Series).
This new build addresses two severe defects that have been found in the former 6.3.1-025 GA release.
We encourage you to upgrade to this new build to benefit from the enhanced stability in 6.3.1-028.
Enhancements and Fixes in AsyncOS 6.3.1-028 for Web
Fixed: Some transparent HTTPS requests erroneously bypass all Routing Policies
and go directly to the Internet. [Defect ID: 55596]
Previously, when Routing Policy membership depended on data in a request header,
such as the URL, then transparent HTTPS requests failed to match the Routing Policy.
Instead, they were routed directly to the Internet. This no longer occurs.
Now, those transparent HTTPS requests match the Default Routing Policy.
Fixed: Web Proxy generates a core file and restarts in some cases. [Defect ID: 65975]
Previously, the Web Proxy generated a core file and restarted when repeatedly connecting to
servers that delivered 503 Bad Gateway responses to the Web Proxy. This no longer occurs.
For further information about this release, please refer to the AsyncOS Release Notes on our Support Portal:
    http://www.ironport.com/support/
While you are there, take the chance to have a look at the other new releases available currently:

  • AsyncOS 7.1.1-037 for web

I see that release 7.1.1-037 is available for the WSA.  is there anywhere I can find the release notes/resolved & open caveats for this upgrade?  As seems typical, on a bleeding edge release it's near impossible to find any documentation on cisco's website, yet the upgrade is available to apply.
I'm running 7.1.1-033 (installed it hours before Cisco yanked the upgrade due to bugs, thankfully I haven't experienced any of these bugs, since there is no rollback feature in the WSA)
    I appreciate any information.
    -Ryan

Eric, thanks for the reply and the link to the general release notes for the WSA.
Unfortunately, the link you provided does not include the release notes (and/or resolved/open caveats) for 7.1.1-037 (or 7.1.1-033 for that matter).
My original question still stands:  is there somewhere that the release notes for 7.1.1-037 are posted (bug tracker, perhaps?) or does a customer blindly have to upgrade to 7.1.1-037, not knowing what bugs are fixed or open, or do they have to wait until Cisco sends out an email to Ironport customers stating the availability of the new release (which usually includes the release notes)?
I have seen significant delays between the WSA showing an upgrade path, and Cisco "officially" emailing customers about said upgrade.
In my opinion, it is always a good practice to have the related documentation (release notes, for example) available to customers when you make a upgrade available, OR, hold off on making the upgrade available until said documentation is available.   Such a practice can avoid potential confusion for the end-user.
    thanks again for your assistance,
    -Ryan

    Preparing to Upgrade
As a best practice, IronPort recommends preparing for an upgrade by taking the following steps:
    1. Save the XML configuration file off of the appliance.
    2. Suspend the listeners.
    3. Drain the mail queue and the delivery queue.
    4. Re-enable the listeners after you upgrade.

I haven't upgraded to 5.5.0 yet, but I was very excited to learn about end-user whitelists and blacklists, which is something we'd been pushing for since we bought our Ironports. Unfortunately, it looks like it's being implemented in a way that makes it impossible for me to deploy at this time.
We have two C350s, and would need the whitelists and blacklists to appear on each box. It appears that I could do this by exporting the database from one machine, transferring it to the other, and then importing it. However, this appears to ONLY be able to be done via the GUI.
This is a showstopper for me, because I do not want to have to log into the Ironport every day to import and export the databases - I would want to automate it. I talked to technical support, and it appears that there is no way to do this via the CLI.
My feature request is this: please consider adding a command that would allow me to remotely force the database to be dumped, and another command to import the database.
Ideally, it would be something like:
    safelistconfig dump
    safelistconfig import
If that was available, I would make my users a lot happier with this feature.

  • .gif preview slow in Save for Web

I am having an issue in Save for Web where the .gif animation preview works very slow and choppy. I am an advertising designer and many times I need to work on animated .gif banners. I am working with Photoshop CS6. When I play the animation in the frame timeline the animation speed works as intended, a little choppy but the timing isn't too bad. However when I go into the Save for Web screen and play the animation it always appears a lot slower and looks choppy. Anything se to 0.0 or No Delay runs as if its set to .1 seconds. Now if I export the file and open it in Chrome the animation speed seems to go back to normal. This wasn't always the case, I tested this 2 or 3 months ago and the animation speed in the export was also slow and choppy but it must have been fixed in one of the updates since then.
My issue is I don't want to have to preview everything in Chrome after I export it, and then possibly have to go back and tweak it then save again, preview again etc. I have never encountered this issue in previous versions on Photoshop or other machines. Ususally my experience has been the opposite, the frame timeline has always been slower, but previewing in Save fro Web has shown a pretty accurate preview.
I also have a HP laptop running Windows 7, photoshop CS6 and I don't encounter this issue at all. It seems that everyones default answer on all of the forums is "different browsers handle .gif animation speeds differently, etc.." but int he past I have saved a .gif on my mac and it was slow and choppy in the Chrome, then I saved the same file on my PC transfered it back to the mac and previewed in Chrome and the animation played quickly and smoothly.
I can't see it being a hardware issue because the machine I am using is farily new. iMac Late 2013/2013, 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7, 16GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024 MB, running OSX 10.8.4 Mountain Lion.
Could it possibly be a setting or preference that needs to be changed? As I stated above it seems that now when I export the animation works fine in the browser the preview is just slow, but I have read that many people are having this issue so hopedully someone will have a solution.

I don't use a Mac but the first the first thing I do when I have performance problems with Photoshop on my PC is to do some house cleaning.  I reset my Photoshop Preference to a saved copy I made when Photoshop was working well.  I Also clean my disk up clearing caches and temp files so the plenty of scratch space.  I close all applications and look at the machine CPU utilization. Then try Photoshop to see if it is back to its normal performance.

  • Colour shift in save for web when saving on PC and then viewing on Mac

Hey peeps, I am aware of this colour shift when saving images for web.  I have a designer resizing, cropping photos, and then saving on PC. He uses PC and when he sends the photos over to me on my Mac there is a big colour shift (photos are much lighte
Could anyone please explain exactly what he needs to do in order for these photos to look the same as the originals on my computer, basically no lightness shift?  Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Adam

Because the WWW is based on untagged (2.2 gamma) sRGB - your genius is probably sending you untagged sRGB if they were Saved for the Web (that's how I prepare my Web color).
Your Mac display should be profiled to 2.2 gamma (you are likely at the old default 1.8 gamma now if you're seeing a lightness shift on untagged sRGB)...if you want "your color" back in Photoshop, you will need to (re)Assign the sRGB profile...

LIke I said, I sure hope somebody can help me out.   Any suggestions would be appreciated.   The only thing I could think that might be causing this is the fact that I upgraded to Maverick (Apple OSX) about 2.5 weeks ago.  But this problem didn't start until about 3 days ago, so surely that's not the issue.  Anyway, figured it was worth mentioning.
    Please let me know.
    Thank you,
Jamie Richards, a fellow Photoshop addict

I found the solution (took forever to consolidate all the answers) for OS X 10.9 + Maverick. Finally!
    1. Change permissions (as AOTPR says) to your User/Library/Preferences file so that your admin and user (the one you are using) has read + write permissions within the Get Info pane (command+I). You may have to add them with the sign.
    2. Delete Adobe save for web 12.0 Prefs & Adobe save for web 13.0 Prefs files within the User/ Library/ Preferences folder. These may be hidden for some people, so when in a finder window, hold Option(alt) and click Go from the main top menu (keep holding Option/Alt) and click Library — the full Preferences folder should open for you.
    3. Change the view when in Save for web pane in PS. If you have it in Cover Flow — it won't work. Change it to another view like List or Columns view.
Presto! Works for me on Maverick.
Thank god. It took forever to get this cleared up!!
