ATG and Browser Cookies
Hi All,
Wanted to know what are all the information stored in browser cookie and session.??? When talking about session in ATG, is it related to browser session/httpSesssion/session scoped component???/
Is the whole Order object is stored in the cookie or just the Order id???
Regards
By default ATG will store the sessionId and userPrefLanguage in cookies. If you enable cookie based authentication then ATG will store user profile id also in the cookies.
When talking about session in ATG, is it related to browser session/httpSesssion/session scoped component???/
Life time of HTTPSession and Session Scoped components will be a particular browser session. Once you exit the browser, the session will be terminated.
Is the whole Order object is stored in the cookie or just the Order id???
No information related to order is stored in cookies, in a cookie based authentication, profile id will be available in the cookie and the order will be fetched using profile id.
Cheers

OBIEE 11g and SSO with Browser Cookie
In OBIEE 10g we were able to configure the Presentation Server to accept a browser cookie. The cookie value would be passed to the BI Server as the :USER variable. A BI Server Repository Initialization Block would execute a SQL SELECT statement which would return the PeopleSoft username based on the cookie value.
We added the following to the 10g instanceconfig.xml:
<CredentialStore>
<CredentialStorage type="file" path="D:\oracle\OBIEE_UD\Data\web\config\credentialstore.xml" passphrase="another_secret" />
</CredentialStore>
<Auth>
<SSO enabled="true">
<ParamList>
<Param name="IMPERSONATE" source="cookie" nameInSource="PS_TOKEN"/>
</ParamList>
</SSO>
</Auth>
The Initialization Block SQL is:
SELECT mGetTokenUserid(':USER') FROM DUAL
mGetTokenUserid is a PL/SQL function which invokes a PeopleSoft web service. The web service simply returns the username for a valid PS_TOKEN cookie.
The Initialization Block works fine in OBIEE 11g.
Unfortunately the instanceconfig.xml settings from 10g do not work in 11g. There is also nothing in the OBIEE 11g documentation which discusses how to tell the system to use a specific cookie value for authentication.
Any guidance as to where in the Fusion Middleware or WebLogic security documentation we might find details on how to get the system to pass the PS_TOKEN cookie to the BI Server in 11g?
Thanks,

In safari browser cookies is working fine. But when I add the browser url to the screen then the cookies concept is not working. In safari setting cookies is always open only. Can you please provide any information regarding to this?
Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
[[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
* On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
* On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
* On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
[[Image:Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win]]
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

I need to accept cookies to log into a technical site. I clear all cookies and the history and follow the instructions for setting privacy options to "Use custom settings for history" and to accept all cookies. When I go back to try logging into the site, it still tells me cookies aren't accepted. When I go back to Options-Privacy, the setting has been changed back to "Remember history" from "Use custom settings for history". I have done this about 5 times, trying various options, closing Firefox after making the change and starting it again - nothing works. How can I get the privacy settings to stay as I set them and accept cookies?
Blocking all cookies in Safari does not work. Deleted cookies will not stay deleted. There are numerous threads on this going back years, both in these forums and elsewhere. Many claim to have submitted the issue to Apple, but I have never seen anyone post a reply.
I have seen many suggested fixes that involve finding the cookies file, some including Terminal manipulations, and none seems to work universally. I can find noplace where Apple addresses this officially with an actual Apple-approved explanation or how-to.
Bottom line, your browser's security features should do what they claim: delete cookies. When they come back without ever even visiting another page, this is clearly not working in the way a reasonable user would expect.
Bottom line, Safari does not protect users' privacy in the way it pretends to and, after so many years of this issue, it appears that Apple wants it this way.
Having spent way too much time on this, I realize the choice is between Safari which is pretty well optimized; Firefox which is a lot pokier, at least for me; and Chrome, which I assume funnels personal information directly to Google. -
safari ALWAYS allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when set to "block cookies: always" and "from 3rd party and advertisers." I have removed the website data, emptied the cache, reset safari, erased the history and it STILL dumps cookies. (For example, if I go to the usgov weather website only I end up with 11 cookies, the top one being "addthis.com" listed as cashed in local storage. But didn't I just empty the cache... multiple times??? Is my Safari application "broken" or "corrupt." Can the application be renewed so that it actually does what it is commanded to do?
Not using any extensions, Andy.
Allowed a guest account and tested that. Lots of cache/cookies showed up for my "guest" that on face value, appeared 3rd party: the familiar "addthis.com" cache and others including a facebook cache and I did not, nor have ever, participated in facebook. But it could be that the "trusted" site my virtual guest visited had a relationship with facebook such that my COMPUTER "friended" facebook even though my guest and I most certainly would have declined the invitation :-) But what I really don't get is why washington post cookies keep showing up every single time. Isn't that the absolute definition of 3rd party cookies?!
forgive my rant.
On the other hand, when I logged out as guest, all data was automatically deleted, and when I relogged in as guest, it appeared that all the data, including cached data, had indeed been deleted. But when I relogged in as myself, the same old garbage reappeared in the cache and cookie bin. The fact is, there appears to be no such thing as truly and completely emptying ones cache, resetting ones browser, or deleting ones cookies. They are here to stay.
(And, oh yes, I have tried logging out, turning off and on the computer right after performing emptying tasks, etc.) -
Any ideas? In the history may iPad never crashed but after updating to iOS 5 it crashed every 30 minutes, and browsing is very slowAny ideas? In the history may iPad never crashed but after updating to iOS 5 it crashed every 30 minutes, and browsing is very slow
I found the reason why our iPads are slow after iOS 5!!!!!!!
What you need to do is this:
1) launch settings, go to mail contacts and calendars, go to fetch new data, advanced, and set iCloud to fetch.
2) go back and set an interval of when to fetch. Mine is set for thirty minutes.
3) make sure on top push is still on, that means that all your emails will still be pushed, but all the iCloud sync (contacts, calendars, reminders, bookmarks) will happen at the interval you choose.
Restart the device. Your performance should be 10x faster! No more keyboard lag, nothing! Doing this puts less stress on the A4 chip, which we know we need every bit we can get with it now!!!
Optional:
1) in the settings, go to safari.
2) clear all history and cookies/data
3) enable private browsing. One of the biggest reasons why devices are slow is because it keeps all the history and cookies in the RAM. You need more RAM to make things faster. By turning on private browsing, it never records it! -

In the settings for Firefox 33.0 (I am using Ubuntu 14.04 but the functionality is the same for Windows 7) there are two different ways to delete cookies when firefox closes. Or at least there seems to be.
First is the keep cookies until firefox closes
Second is to check the box to clear history when firefox closes and in the settings check cookies.
What is the difference between these two options?
I usually have both setup but I was noticing that a login was not saving for td canada trust easyweb, even though I have an exception set for it. Now I unchecked to delete cookies when clearing the history on close and the login saves correctly.
This login saves 7 cookes under easyweb.td.com and 10 cookies under td.com and I have exceptions set for both. If I clear history on close and include cookies, half of the td.com cookies are gone when I close firefox and re-open. The same is true if I don't set the exception.
So currently I cannot figure out a way to keep all the cookies if I clear cookie history when firefox closes. What is the difference when this is enabled?Let all cookies expire when Firefox is closed to make them session cookies.
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Keep until: "I close Firefox"
Create a cookie 'allow' exception for cookies that you would like to keep.
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings

Despite add-ons and settings, cookies are still being saved after Firefox closes.
I have set Firefox to delete all cookies when Firefox closes. This does not work but I have read this is by design (although there is absolutely no point in having this option if it does not do what it says). So after reading forums I have tried several other things. I have both BetterPrivacy and DoNotTrackPlus installed. I have also set browser.sessionstore.privacy_level to "2" and browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to "false" in about:config which I have seen in several posts. Finally, I only use the internet with Private Browsing now. Despite all of those precautions, AVG continues to pick up what appear to be the same 9 cookies constantly.
They are all located in ...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies:

and 3Z7Y9OHL.txt.
How can I avoid this? I am fairly tired of cookies, persistent cookies, LSO cookies, what have you. What is the point of all of these actions if none of them stop cookies from being saved permanently on my computer? Is it just Firefox that has dropped the ball here or do other browsers also have these issues? I have been a long-time Firefox fan but thinking of changing after all of this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.Thanks for your reply jscher2000. It took me a while me to hunt down what exactly what was causing those cookies but your response helped me to open up my thinking a bit to consider non-firefox alternatives. I got distracted initially trying to see when the cookies were being added which led to a whole side problem of hidden files remaining hidden even when I checked to un-hide them under properties (I finally figured that out using "organize/folder and search options/view" and editing the registry) and then I spent some time performing one action at a time and checking the cookies folder. Imagine my embarrassment when it turns out a game was actually responsible for putting those cookies there (not internet browsing through firefox). Unless there are two applications/add-ons doing it? After deleting some cookies, I started noticing the cookies appearing in a different folder (...\AppData\Local\Temp\Cookies). Either the game changed which folder it was putting the cookies in (originally it was the ...\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies) or two applications/add-ons are putting basically identical cookies in each of the two folders I mentioned. I find it much more reasonable that the game is responsible for both locations and somehow how meddling around with cookies and deleting them and such caused a change given that the game seems to have files in both of those locations (although the files are hidden in one of the locations). Finally, if other people read this, when I was looking for cookies being generated I missed it at first because new files weren't being created necessarily but lines of cookie text were being added to existing files without actually changing the displayed file size. A very long-winded response and probably more than anyone wanted to know but thanks again for the time and effort of your answer jscher.

"Setting and Retrieving Cookies" DreamWeaver 8
I am training from the book, "MacroMedia DreamWeaver 8,
Training from the Source." I am unable to get retrieve the cookies
set on my hard drive by the code I used in Chapter 4, Setting and
Retrieving Cookies. I have checked my code against the completed
code in the book and they appear to me to be identical. The cookies
are being transferred to my hard drive by by the variables set in
the code, but the code fails to retrieve the cookies from the hard
drive as expected on the linked page. Since I eventually want to
develop an interactive commerical web site, I need to solve this
problem now. Any help is certainly appreciated. Below, I am listing
the code that I am using for each of the three dynamic pages.
Test Form:
Information is entered on this form and passed to test form
processor (This works well.)

The first name and last name from page one transfer to the
variables on this page, no problem.

</body>

Test form processor cookies:
The cookies sre transferred to my hard drive, I checked by
looking in the browser cache. the problem is that the cookies are
not retrieved by this page. When I click on the link to this page,
"I get Hi, !." Why won't the code echo the variables that the
cookies are holding? The code is below.
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0

http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="

<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>
<body>
Hi, <?php echo $_COOKIE['firstName']; ?> <?php echo
$_COOKIE['lastName']; ?> !</body>
</html>
All the bindings are set, the cookies are placed on the hard
drive, but for some reason the link page does not retrieve the
cookies and print them to the screen as expected. I use Firefox and
IE7. I set both to accept totally cookies, still I cannot retrieve
the cookie set by this small application from my hard drive, when I
run the pages. Any help and are ideas are appreciatted.The problem is in the Set Cookie header on page two. It
should be $_GET and not $_get. Dreamweaver uses lower case with the
get method. The correct $_GET is displayed in blue letters in upper
case, instead of black letters and lower case. This is a very
subtle difference, as PHP uses the get method in lower case. -
